Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hello Matt
By far the majority of problems people experience with EP are the result of incorrectly-formatted tab-delimited TXT files. It is essential that the txt file is absolutely "clean" and follows the exact protocols described in Langer's readme instructions.
The way to check whether EP is behaving as it should, is to try a "test" upload - a few "test" products in an EP TXT file that you know is absolutely proper and free of all unwanted formatting.
If the file loads, then the EP program is not at fault.
Image Hander will not have any effect on EP. I have both on most sites we manage and have never had a conflict.
GoDaddy could be a problem of course. It is without question the worst possible place in the entire universe to host an eCommerce site and we avoid them like the plague.

Here's something strange:
Hi, I had trouble with this mod right away when I installed it. I still can't create a tab-delimited .txt file in excel (using v.14.0.0 for mac).
All I got was an error message stating model-number was missing and as a consequence of this a failed upload.
However, when I downloaded Full-EP2011Jan30-2109.txt (the sample file that comes with the installation) and pasted the information from my spreadsheet to the same file (Full-EP2011Jan30-2109.txt) Easy Populate worked just perfect. I don't know I don't get this.. is Excel unable to create tab-delimited files??
Thanks!
Jacob

Jacob,
On MAC you are much better off using Open Office to export your CSV file. OO will properly quote all fields on export where Mac Excel sort of does it's own thing. I also work on mac and have had this issue. Also, when exporting from OO click "edit filter settings" when saving and be sure to select the proper encoding, ie. UTF-8 vs ISO 8859-1 (depending on your langugage). This is ensure you don't get odd characters in you import.
I will often work in Excel to do most of my copy/edits, but switch to OO to save to CSV.

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Thanks for the info!
I just recently restored my old db and used Easy Populate to upload new articles to my new category. The category now states there are 83 products in the new category (under quantity). However, when I navigate to the category it's completely empty. None of the 83 products appear... strange??? I used v.1.3.9f for this install.
Yesterday I uploaded the same articles to a fresh install of zencart (also using v.1.3.9f) and on a completely new db. Everything worked as it should... so what intricate part am I missing???
Thanks!
Jacob

@jacob
is it possible your language id's in the different databases don't match?
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Mr Design, thank you very much indeed! There's nothing like a word spoken in it's right time... many thanks! :)
Thanks!

Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
I actually discovered a neat "trick" recently.
Instead of SAVING the spreadsheet as a TAB-TXT file, I HIGHLIGHTED the full cell range of the spreadsheet and COPIED it to clipboard.
I then PASTED it directly into a blank EMERALD EDITOR file.
Guess what...? It resulted in a perfectly formatted, TAB-TXT file!
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Interesting thing happened and I don't know why.
I have not had any problems with EP until this last upload trial.
I have about 6k products to upload, but to make sure everything is where it should be, I used a smaller size, around 400 products.
Everything went in perfectly - except the pics.
I have checked the spreadsheet to make sure the model #s lined up with product image #, A-OK
I then checked the images on my server, check a small sample size around 20 pics - they are named right and line up accordingly.
I then checked my files on my harddrive, those all checked out OK.
After finding nothing with things on my end, I tried a new upload - same result.
For some reason, EP is transposing numbers in the filenames - i.e. 403547.jpg gets uploaded to item # 403457
This is true for every image - except the 10 or so that I fixed afterwards.
ps - oddly enough, when I changed those 10 that I mentioned, the correct image was shown as uploaded - item number 403547 had pic 403547.jpg already uploaded. But was showing wrong picture on website - 403457.jpg
Thoughts?
pps - Also, since I have your attention, if I try to use the Split File Function, it only uploads the item on the first line of each file, not any of the others.
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
i just installed the EP onto one of my sites. the "full" worked great but, since i also need the attributes i tried that to... and it seems it goes on and on and on.... how long does that usually take? or is there a bug in the attribute download? i also have the wholesale prices mod installed.
Re: Easy Populate support for Version 1.2.5.4
Hello you Zenners,
I've had a lot of help last time so maybe you can help me out with this one. I've installed EP Version 1.2.5.4 in my admin folder (keesadmin)
I use a dutch langauagepack on Zencart 1.39 but when I click to install EP I get the next massage:
Warning: require_once(../admin/includes/application_top.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /public/sites/www.houtdraaien.nl/shop/keesadmin/easypopulate.php on line 105
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '../admin/includes/application_top.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /public/sites/www.houtdraaien.nl/shop/keesadmin/easypopulate.php on line 105
I'm new to all this so some help will be great
waiting for your reply
