GCO will not be able to add customers to your zen-cart database or change your inventory without a SSL certificate on your website. This is different than the PayPal module, which does not require that your website have a SSL certificate. Without an SSL certificate, GCO will only work to "level 1" integration, which means the order is passed to Google, the customer will pay, you will get an email from Google saying they paid, but your inventory will not be reduced, nor the customer information added to your zen-cart database. If you don't know if you have a SSL certificate, you probably don't, because this is something you would have purchased separately from your web host, or a third party, like GoDaddy. The good news is that your webhost may offer shared SSL certificates, which can work with GCO. Even if you have a SSL, certificate, google will not be able to talk your zen-cart unless all the paths, keys, permissions, etc. are correctly specified.

I don't know what the problem is that you describe, but my advice is to read print the "README" and "INSTALLATION" files that come with GCO when you unzipped it, and go through or repeat each step of the directions and put a check mark next to each task you are 100% sure you completed correctly. If you do not know what something means, you cannot guess, you have to research that step to get it right. There is a section titled "MOST COMMON MISTAKES" -read that. You should also log into your Google merchant account, and read the error logs [tools][integration console] and also make sure the integration settings [integration][setting] are correct (merchant key, website landing page after order, etc.)
For others reading this thread and considering GCO module, in a nutshell, here is what is involved to use this module: 1) first carefully read the "README" and "INSTALLATION" files when you unzip the module. If the directions look beyond your skill level, reconsider, or accept a longer haul. 2) upload your GCO module to the correct directories, to match all the zen-cart customizations and override directories you created, 3) set up a GCO merchant account with a bank account at the Google website and correctly fill in all the integration fields at your Google Merchant account to match your zen-cart GCO module, and vice-versa. 3) Log onto your web-site provider and purchase or upload a SSL certificate, make sure the files and directories have the correct permissions as specified in the readme and installation files. Finally, if you can understand and modify html and php code, you can further tweak the zen-cart pages and add info clarifying the checkout process if you want to get fancy.
Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart (beta)
Hello its me again.
Okay I have gotten the google checkout installed but am I doing this right. The placement of the google checkout icon dont seem to be in the right place to me. It is placing it in the shopping cart contents page instead of in the step 3 page of the checkout process. Is this where it is suppose to be placed or do I still have it installed wrong? Here is a image of where it is being placed. I dont want no options in the checkout procedure as only option I will offer for now is google checkout.
preview picture at link below if needed.

That is exactly where the Google Checkout logo is supposed to be. If you add the Paypal express module, the Paypal button will be right below it. The key selling point of GCO and Paypal Express is that they make life easier for the buyer. The buyer is whisked away from your site where they only need their user name and password, and either Google or Paypal will populate your zen-cart database with the shipping and contact info.
Now if you are a small seller, and you only accept credit cards through Paypal Express and Google Checkout, you might reasonably ask, why do I need the zen-cart "go to checkout" button at all?. Well, you don't really, unless you also accept payment by check or money order (like I do). So what I did was replace the "go to checkout button" graphic with a new "pay by check or money order" icon, and added text on this page like the following:
"You can pay by check, money order, or credit card. Credit cards are processed through your choice of either Google Checkout or PayPal." and
"Time Saving Tip: If you plan to pay by check or money order, then click the "Pay by Check or Money Order" button. If you plan to pay by credit card, you can save a step by clicking on the PayPal or Google checkout express payment buttons when you have everything you want in the your cart. When your payment is accepted by these services, we are sent the address to ship your items."
In fact, there were a lot of things I did not like about the default zen-cart customer flow and processing set up, and changed a lot like eliminating any reference to "registering" or "creating accounts" customers on my website. Google and Paypal have correctly concluded (in my opinion) that consumers don't want to waste time creating accounts on every website that they make a purchase.
If you want to see all my customizations, go to this product page, and take this item through checkout:
http://inkspotantiques.com/shop/inde...roducts_id=254
I created this 49 cent priced digital download item not only because it contained fun information that a customer might like, but it also allowed me to test, for only 49 cents, all my payment modules live, top to bottom, to make sure they worked properly after I upgraded modules and files. Of course, in the zen-cart GCO module, it is also easy to refund payments right from your zen-cart Admin.
Just one other nuance. Paypal adds its checkout button to the checkout (createaccount) page and Google does not. Google Checkout button is there because I added the code to that page manually, but that was before it dawned on me just to get rid of the checkout button altogether, and replace it with a pay be check or money order button.
Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart 1.3.x (beta)
I want to make two payment options available in Zen Cart.
1. pick up in store
2. Google Checkout
The only way i can get shipping to work on GCO is to use another payment source but i dont want customers paying any other way.
PLEASE HELP (if you can)
Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart 1.3.x (beta)
In-store pickup is a shipping option, not a payment option. Google Checkout works with whatever shipment modules you have installed. If your intent is to have everyone pay with GCO, but shipping is free for store pickup, then turn-on the in-store pickup shipping module [modules][shipping][in-store pickup]. If your intent is to have the user pay with GCO only for shipped items, but if they want to pick up the item in the store, and you just want to mark the item as sold for an in-store pickup by cash, check, or credit card, then the previous post or transforming with text the checkout button into a checkout for in-store pickup only would work.

@inkspot
Thanks for the reply.
I have GCO working but to do this i have to have shipping available in the standard Zen Cart checkout.
for some reason i only get this when scroll to Payment Method?
Sorry, we are not accepting payments from your region at this time.
Please contact us for alternate arrangements.
why is google checkout not here?
Re: Google Checkout module for Zen Cart 1.3.x (beta)
If you offer other payment methods (AIM, Linkpoint etc) along with Google checkout, consider re-jiggering your cart page to look something like this:
http://www.zen-fu.com/examples/Screenshot.png
This is especially effective if you are using COWOA or FEC+COWOA and the CC graphic takes folks directly to the checkout stream with no login.
Note: FEC comes pre-integrated with merges for GC so install GC first, then layer FEC over it. (the other way around will really hose things)

Rookie, I don't think that is GCO issue, but a zone conflict issue, or a "free shipping" or "free shipping options" issue. Read this thread:

I am not sure what you are saying. GCO is a payment option, not a shipping option, but it certainly requires some form of shipping option activated in zen cart because GCO talks to your cart and will only offer buyer the shipping options in their checkout that you have activated in zen-cart. If, for example, all items on your website have free shipping, you still have activate one of the free shipping modules so GCO knows that shipping is free.

You can only use "GoogleCheckout Carrier Calculated Shipping" if you live in the USA, so set it to false to avoid regional errors.

Just found out that I am having the same issue.... Google Checkout is before Paypal express though for me.... it just doesn't make sense?
