Re: Simple SEO URL [support thread]
Yellow i need your help please mate. I am having issues with SSU.
Firstly what is this all about and why are search engines are indexing it ???
http ://fishingtackleoxford.co.uk/index.php/?pfotx=15
I have added a space at the start so i dont get it as a backlink.
Also why is Yahoo indexing the non SSU like here
http://fishingtackleoxford.co.uk/ind...roduct_info&cP
ath=18_28&products_id=171
Here is a list of what Yahoo is indexing :-
http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com...&fr2=seo-rd-se
I am getting worried as i dont want to be banned from the search engines .
Could you please help me mate.
Many Thanks and Kind Regards
Re: Simple SEO URL [support thread]
Hi Yellow - great mod BTW :)
I am trying to get SSU to re-write the product filter URL's, the sceanrio is something like this:
Manufacturer - Paul Smith
Filter Options: T-shirts, Jeans, Jackets
If I select T-Shirts I get a URL like : /paul-smith?sort=20a&filter_id=42
I have tried adding an alias in SSU so that /paul-smith?sort=20a&filter_id=42 becomes /paul-smith-tshirts but SSU ignores it - does this mean I cannot use aliases for this?
Thanks
Tony

If you use the latest versions (version 3.5 and up) you will see that SSU can automatically create such aliases for you.
Assuming that you read the installation and usage note carefully, you should know that you should turn on SSU Auto Alias in the setting in admin/configuration/simple_seo_url to have that feature enabled for you. After you enabled it clear the cache in admin/extras/simple_seo_url_manger. This should fix it the way you want it to look.

I have never tried that before, but have your cleared out the cache after that? And can you post the exact term you put in the alias and in url fields (in the alias manager)?

Im not sure, but 1 thing I know for sure: pfotx=15 does not look like something that zencart uses (not sure if any module uses it). Perhaps you are using http://www.sagepay.com/ ?
Regarding the yahoo index, uhm, you have an incomplete install of SSU. You havent edited the includes/functions/html_output.php as instructed here:

Re: Simple SEO URL [support thread]
I've been trying to use this program for months, but I can never reset the caches. The admin always bombs out before it ever finishes.
We have SSU installed on two of our other shops and it works fine. But it can never finish cleaning the cache on mine. I've doublechecked all the settings. I'm the one who installed it on all our sites.
I'm afraid the urls are going to end up corrupted or something so the site won't work properly.
According to the properties, there are 5000 folders in the cache... and counting. Is my FTP program confused or are there really that many?
I have 1200 products and about 200 categories. This is not a huge shop so I don't understand the enormous number of folders! I can't delete them either. If I delete them, they regenerate themselves even though I had SSU turned off when I deleted them. This bothers me.
It seems as if it's the Alias cache that won't reset. I've been able to reset the others.
Re: Simple SEO URL [support thread]
I believe this question has been answered more than once, and perhaps I should try to put in the FAQ.
1. Older versions of SSU create more cache files, try to upgrade to the latest one.
2. SSU caches files based on url, not product or category, so you will always have more cache files than number of products and categories.
3. No, urls will not end up corrupted. If cache files are deleted, SSU will just regenerate them
4. New versions of SSU always come with a cron folder which contain a cache cleaning file. You can set up a cronjob to have this file run once per month.

Im pretty sure that SSU does not append that to the url unless it's told to do so. I have checked your website and cant find that on the homepage, not sure about the subpages
If I go to fishingtackleoxford.co.uk/index.php/?pfotx=15 Im then redirected to http://click-go.net/search.php?q=ros...rt+montego+bay. Huhm, perhaps you are a victim of hack or carelessness? Clearly some code on your site redirect the users visit the above link to another site tho
Re: Simple SEO URL [support thread]
Hi Yellow,
I have my product listing pages set up so that when a customer clicks the "buy it now" button the product is added to their cart without going to the product info page, it stays on the product listing page.
This works fine when SSU is turned off, but when I activate SSU the behaviour changes and pressing the buy it now button instead takes the user to the product info page.
Any ideas on what might be causing this change in behaviour as I would like the user to stay on the product listing page when they press the buy it now button.
Many thanks
