Been at this for hours and can't seem to find the solution...maybe someone can help me out. :blink:
recently installed IH2 and turned all my pictures in the Product Listings page to be different sizes. I am able to make them all the same size by turning Image - Use Proportional Images on Products and Categories to 'off'. However, when i do this two things happen:
1. I lose the Hover effect (which is ok if that needs to happen for me to have all my images uniform)
2. But most importantly, I lose my Product Info page image.
Does anyone know how i can fix this?

Would it best then to not have IH2 installed and work on decreasing the file sizes of the images to 5K each and upload them through categories/products/edit like normally?
one of the reasons for installing this addon was to improve my sites speed, which it has but it looks a bit disorganized with the various sized images...

I've read the manual several times and know how to change dimensions of pics, but it does not make my pics uniform. the only thing that does is setting the 'Use proportional images....' to 'off' as i stated previously but my Product Info pics go missing when i do.

Well it's not going to be an easy task, but I figured out how to get the pics on my product listing uniform.
the only way i figured to make it work (just in case anyone else runs into the same problem) is to:
Resize all my pics to the same width and height dimensions and re-upload them...it's a weeks worth of work since I have over 800 unique products but hey you gotta do what you gotta do. :bangin:
If anyone can come up with a quicker solution...I'm all ears.

The generated resized images are centered on a canvas that matches exactly the given size for the corresponding image. If you specified 100×80! your 200×200 image from the first example will be resized to 80×80 and placed centered on a 100×80 canvas filled with the specified background color. Think of it as kind of forcing image dimensions without messing up the aspect ratio.

Tophand, I seem to see the same issue as Atma did. In Google Chrome browser, with a fresh install of IH2, the popup images during the mouse-over appear at the top of the visible page, in the product listing. I am surprised no one else had the same issue as the two of us. Any ideas yet?Quote:

It seems that this program will not resize images LARGER. I have some subcategory images that are a little smaller than standard. However no extended canvas is being added to them. Any way to fix this?
Update:
I see the issue is that ImageHandler won't add canvas in BOTH directions, horizontal and vertical. Am I doing something wrong?

For example, i sell 10 t-shirts which all have the same back, but don't want to upload 10 copies of the back photo with different names for each product. Instead, i want to upload one back photo and apply it to 10 products.

Have you double check that you uploaded all the IH files and they are correct(compare file size) and in the correct folders?
Are you using template override?
If so you need to install the files for each template.
Do you have the hover/popup turned on?
I think they need to include a jscript_imagehover.js in the custom folder as currently its only in the template default folder and you need to have this file installed in the jscript folder in your custom folder if using a custom template.
Most people when they use an FTP program such as myself do this on a per folder basis opening the Image Handler folder and just inserting each file carefully one at a time in the respective folders and i wondered why the image enlargement wasn't working so i had a look at source code on the classic theme after switching template and found the reason was the jscript_imagehover.js file.
So for anyone having the same trouble i did then just go to template_default and get this file and put it in your custom folders jscript folder and if there isn't a custom folder just send the whole folder up and it will work.
I think whoever looks after the contribution should include that file in the custom template jscript folder section for download and not just the template default jscript folder section. ( there is currently no custom template jscript folder and thats the problem )

As it stands right now when I hover over my products thumbnail a white bar appears at the top of my website with another small image of the product. It's only when I click on the thumbnail itself where the full size comes up.

Hi - I'm posting in the hope that someone can help me. I've trawled through most of the pages on this thread and my head is now spinning :blink:
I'm running 1.3.8a with IH2. I've recently moved hosts and for various reasons am running with a new install (from JSWeb) and I had my database moved from old hosts to new install, and I copied the images from old host to new host.
On my previous install I did not originally have IH, so was working with 3 sizes of images, small, _MED & _LRG, until IH was installed on my previous site.
On my current site I am finding that the products which originally had _MED & _LRG images no longer have images which enlarge via IH as only a small image is in the main directory - so I am replacing the small image, in the main directory, with a larger one and this appears to be working....
BUT IH does not appear to be consistent in its handling of the resizing - especially the thumbnail image. Is there an optimum size for the original image or guide for sizing images which help me sort my problem? I'm really not sure whether it is my images, or my set-up.

well I figured out what the problem was. After I installed the 2 addons I changed the size of the Small Images because i wanted my images in my Featured sidebox to be smaller...thus causing this error. Yours is a style problem, not related to IH2.
There is padding inside the left box container, which pushes your featured image to the right.
There are many solutions, depending on your taste:
1) make left column a little wider,
2) eliminate padding altogether (in your main CSS),
3) create a class or ID for div #featured, without padding
4) etc.
If problems persist, check the style forum.

I don't know if IH can resize your image to do it more biggest than your original image...

I don't know why the attibutes and the images sections are STILL a problem with both Osc and Zencart .... they are so anti-tutive. Other carts, you can upload additional images normally and you can add options easily.
I know I shouldn't complain - am just frustrated that we have been moving from x-cart (which has a great product loading setup) to zencart ... over 4000 products ... and can find no easy way to do the additional images since x-cart named them: d_5000.jpg, d_5001.jpg, d_5002.jpg ... Thusly, I'll have to rename all of them (if and when I can find the approprate ones) and pray they load correctly. Some products have upwards of 12+ additional images!

Example: you load your main image named Zeke.jpg.
Always load default largest image, not medium, small etc.
You load additional image named Pete_SideView.jpg (also default, same procedure).
IH renames additional to Zeke_01.jpg, etc.
But that's the problem ... these are imported, with x-cart's already altered file names as I referenced. These are already in zencart in the /images/ folder. We have to copy them into both medium and large folders and then rename them accordingly so we know which ones, while in IH manager, to grab. Right now, we can't tell the difference between d_2500.jpg and d_2501.jpg ... don't know if they are two different products or part of the same product.Quote:

hmmmmm so additional images do not need to be in /medium/ or /large/ folders ..... everything can be lumped into the main /images/ folder .... ok.
Now, I'm back to my original problem about the error message I mentioned in my first post above, when all the IH files have been uploaded correctly.

Quick check: if you are certain that you uploaded all files, check permissions on folders, bmz_cache needs to be writeable (777).
Yes, I did the 777 when I uploaded that folder. But I'll double check.

I think you should set your images folder and the BMZ_Cache folder at 755 for security reasons. Note it doesn't have to be 777 to be writeable since i have it set to 755 and it works perfectly.Quote:

I got IH worked out and am cruising along.
I have to go and rename additional images do it adheres to the main image's name_01.jpg, name_02.jpg, etc. Upload those, and viola!
When we imported the images from xcart, many times, it took one of the additional images and made that the main image ... so you see a lot of backsides or sides LOL. So, I had to go into the product and switch.
I have a lot of work ahead of me, but thankfully not all of the 3300 products have additional images ... perhaps just half of them. Just. :shocking: LOL

if i change the image to jpg, it works fine.. i also noticed that when i go into the 'preview' section in image handler for these images, jpg and gif show a rectagular colored image and the png shows a very small checkered box.
Now I see the light thanks. I made the animated.gif the same size as the Subcategory Image Width AND Height (shown in red above), and it works. Yippee! :clap:Quote:

I am fairly new at this so please bear with me. I have latest version of ZC and IH2. I want to use multiple pictures which are about 1600 X 800 and 800 X 800. Some are 190 kb in size. I used these on Auctiva and Ebay and really don';t want to redo all the pictures. How much will these slow the site down if I use them in this size? Am I better off to resize them smaller so pages load faster and how much difference would it make. What is the best size for pages to load reasonably quick?I will be selling, tokens, medallions, notes, etc and want people to be able to see the item and details clearly for both sides of the items. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

IH2 and Lightbox installed, and if i do something like have an image thats too large (say, 1200 pixels) or have an image thats in CAPITALS or a space in it, then it seems to break the site
(breaking it the right hand side column and the footer don't show)
Should all images be altered to say 600 and named in lowercase to avoid this? (as this what it seems like)

Image names are case-sensitive, you can name an image in all caps, but then you have to stick with that to call it.Quote:

I am currently using 1.3.8. I loaded IH2 and the admin portion appears to be working; however, I have encountered problems on my product page. The product main image has disappeared and the additional images are not showing. However I have also loaded the Cross Sell module and the IH zoom function is working for those images on that section of the page.
The strange thing is when I "view source" on the page the code is there for both the main image and additional images.
I checked that my bmz_cache and images folders have the same permissions (755) which they do. I think it has something to do with my custom template. I copied the contents from custom into my custom folder. I'm not sure I merged the popup_image_additional/tpl_main_page.php correctly.
Any ideas on what I've done wrong would be great.

My image handler has suddenly stopped working :blink:
Starting this morning, it's kind of crap shoot as to whether the additional images will show or not.
I can add the additional images in admin as always, but sometimes they're not showing on the product page. I haven't made any db changes or anything else.
Here's a product page for example, in admin this actually has 2 additional images but they're not showing up.
Here's a product that I also added today, and the additional image is showing!
