French language pack 1.3.8 availability

By the way, why you didnt contact me to create the translation together ? Because it seems that you have re-done the whole translation yourself.


For bugs, I noticed that button_back.gif is missing (I think in fact ALL the french buttons are missing) and paypalwpp.php is not translated.

You are right, i didn't contact you because i didn't know you were working on it, i began this huge work before your translation's post.
But i'd like to provide updates and support for future release, and would be happy if we could work together on them. I'll ask you before zen cart next release for sure...
I you want to merge some things on this 1.3.8a rel, you're welcome aswell .


I know there are some files to edit, but i'll update my readme text to add a notice for that, i forgot :(

I updated my docs\1.installation_Francais.html online french install file to add a notice about the files to edit.

I added the french buttons, and translated the paypalwpp.php file.
Zip file is now updated.

PS : i had a look at your paypalwpp.php, and it seems some lines aren't translated at the end of the file, did you know it ? If this notice could be useful to you... :smile:

I live in the US but I speak French too, it is my native language and I am interested to keep a French language version of Zencart current. Is there a way for a few French speaking people to team up on this ? Like this the work could be shared between a few people.

I was also thinking about a way for the people working on language translations to be informed in advanced by the zencart dev team of the changes that are made in zencart before a new release is made.

This would help having an updated translation of a language at the same time as a new release.

I was also thinking of a french forum on the Zencart website. Unfortunately, a lot of french speaking native do not speak english that well.

Would Kim and Dr Byte be interested in something like this ? at least to add language pack translators in a mailing list to keep them informed of the new constants added or changed in the english language pack ?

This could maybe be co-ordinated through the French forum, which seems to have undergone a bit of a face lift recently.

That's for Kim to answer, but I suspect that the language is one of the last bits to get finalised and so would be difficult to communicate before release.

running zen cart 1.38 on production server, I have installed French language pack with success. now running both English and French .

in admin i created single item with both languages. I noticed in whats new side box , two products being displayed one in English other in French . how can i only show this in selected language by customer ?

if im in english , and i click on product in french ( whats new side box ) i still get to english version of this . but having two displayed in different language is bit confusing

also noticed. the day of the week for Products added to catalog is in english and not in french .
