Bit of a novice at this, but have downloaded Zen Cart and built a site on this template.
To be honest, very pleased with the result at www.thealarmingman.co.uk

However, seem to have lost the add to cart against products?

Box details are:-
Box Name: shopping_cart.php

This is not an inherent problem with the template. It looks like you have deleted the "add to cart" code from the product info page. I would recommend re-uploading the includes/templates/avonlee_contempo/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php file from a new download of the template package to your server.

Have downloaded the template as a package again - just in case missed something and did as asked. Sorry to say no add to cart.

Any other ideas? I have tried to amend prices via group prices to offer trade discount. Might this be the problem area?

Yes. Nice writeup on how to add/subtract pictures, change sizes, etc. It was very handy.

I found the slider code to slow down the wait time and speed up the change.
I was hoping to find hidden controll items to perhaps change from slide mode to fade, etc.

For now I have the slide happening really fast (.1 second vs 2 seconds) and the hold time to be almost 10 seconds instead of 2.

I am a novice with very very limited knowledge of PHP and Javascript. I've tried to search for the answers before asking. Would you plesae help me to solve the below problems? I am using zen-cart V1.50.

1) The categories with no products still show up when I set the "categories with 0 products status" to off. It used to work before install the template.

2) How to change the speed of slide show? I've opened the js file but no clue...

For 1, this is not a problem with the template. Try putting the classic template back and check the behaviour.

For 2. you can edit the includes/modules/pages/index/jscript_easySlider.php file

If you want to un-install the column layout grid module, you should downnload the module from the plugins section and follow the un-install instructions in the readme file. There is also a sql patch to run.

Hi Anne,

I was wondering if you could tell me how to remove 'Avonlee Contempo' from the tab in my browser window. It only shows up on my home page, when I go to an item page, it shows the item title in the tab.

Also, when I share the link of my site on Facebook, it comes up as 'Avonlee Contempo, Free Template by etc, etc, etc'. Any advice?

Nevermind...went a searching and found my answers.

Although, I do have another question that I have not found the answer to just yet. If I "like" a product, it will go to my profile page on Facebook, but it doesn't show up on my news feed and it doesn't show a picture of the product. Anything I can do to tweak that?

The facebook code on the product info page comes from the Add This site. You can take a look at their site to see if you can update or change the facebook code.

Got to say this is a very nice template. However, I had a question regarding the addThis social media buttons on the product pages. Looking at the code, there is a reference to a username. Is it safe to use this username or should I get my own username. Or is the username a universal login for all accounts.

I ask because I see that each has their own counter. Would these update site wide or per product when someone clicks the like button.

I used the generic code on the templates, but you can go to the addthis website and get your custom code which will allow you to see analytics about the plugin.

Hello Ann, thank you for the Avonlee template. This is my 2nd attempt at using ZenCart, and I'm coming along pretty good with your template, but I can't get the Images for Titles to work. Question: I viewed the source for the template, for example, is the category ID "categories"? This is not a template related problem. Please ask questions about the images for titles module on the appropriate support thread. There is no reason why this module, if compatible with version 1.5. and installed correctly wouldn't work with the template.

I am new to Zen Cart. I came to this forum looking for a simple, elegant template and did not have to search much before I found Avonlee. I installed yesterday and so far, I have been able to manage well reading the 'read me' file included with the template. Thank you.

There are two things I would like to do (if it is possible). How can I change the color of the navigation bar from black to grey? And how can I change the background inserting an image background?

I am having problem getting EZ pages to display at the top of my pages under the main navigation (i.e. Home Contact Log in etc). On your demo you have the EZpages below this but I have check all setting and done everything I can think of but with no sucess. I would be very grateful if you could help.

finally found how to show the EZ Pages under the main navigation. Its in the stylesheet.css. The lines for showing the EZPages have been commented out so just changed this.

You will make both of these changes in the includes/templates/avonlee_contempo/css/stylesheet.css file. If you don't know how to specifically make these changes I would recommend doing a google search for a remedial css tutorial.

I came to the forum to put and update. The color scheme I wanted to give to the template was grey and green. I found another of your templates 'Alysa Rounded' that is more suitable for my project. I like it a lot!

Actually, I had to make only a couple of changes to Alysa to achieve the look I wanted. There is only one more thing I need to ask but I will post it in the Alysa Rounded thread. Thank you again.

I was wondering if it was possible to remove the mini horizontal and vertical lines that are present before the names of each sub-category under the category navigation menu. For example on your demo page here: http://www.picaflor-azul.com/free-de...=index&cPath=1

Those mini lines are not due to the template but are part of the default Zencart.

To remove them go to your admin/configuration/Layout Settings. Just about half-way down you'll see some Categories Separator areas to edit. Some of mine are gone/blank but I think it's the Categories Separator between the Category Name and Sub Categories. You should see the lines. Just remove them.

But to help orient customers, I'm now using link color as here via css:

I am having trouble creating new customer accounts on this template. Every time I fill in all the required information and hit submit it kicks me to a blank form and no account is created. Any suggestions? Thanks

This is not a template problem. The create account works fine on the demo site here:

I would recommend looking in your /cache folder (make sure permissions are set to 777) for error messages. Also, backtrack and look at any changes/modifications you have made to the template or addons you have installed. You can change the template back to the classic to see if the problem is in a template file you have modified.

When I go to a page in the information menu, there is a title to that page. Fror example, Privacy. How do I remove this title? The title near the breadcrumbs. Thanks

My client would like a "clean" homepage with none of the "essentials" to run a zen cart template.

There are many ways to do this. One way is to create a separate stylesheet for the home page. If you do a search on the forum you will find posts by others who have different home pages.

Thank you for the free template.

I removed the cart icon on the navigation bar of this template because I want to have just the text. Now there is a text where the icon was that says 'the shopping cart'.

I have looked everywhere on the files and have not been able to find/figure out how to remove this text and leave just "Shopping Cart".

I would like to REMOVE some of the links in the footer. For example, I do not need a 'Gift Certificate FAQ' section because I don't do gift certs.

I found an earlier reference to this file: includes/languages/english/extra/definitions/avonlee_contempo/footer_menu_defines.php. I tried to comment out a few of the lines under the Quick Links section to simply remove them. However, there is now a variable showing in their places:

I've been hunting a bit, and can't seem to find the sister file that has these variables set to remove them there as well. Can you point me in the right direction?

To add links to the header you need to edit the includes/templates/avonlee_contempo/common/tpl_header.php file.

To add links to the footer you will edit the includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/avonlee_contempo/footer_menu_defines.php file.

Hello ;-) I just sumbitted a big update to the template package. Changes include:

Replaced Easy Slider with SlideJS. I have searched the threads and am trying to add the javascript code for godaddy to Display the ssl cert in the footer. Everything I have tried since I dont know phpcode does not work Please tell me where i need to insert this code to make it work.

I added the code to a test site with avonlee contempo with no problem minus the first line of code.

You should edit the includes/templates/avonlee_contempo/common/tpl_footer.php file.

Hi, I just got zen cart yesterday, and I liked your template so I am trying to install it, but it doesn't seem to work and I'm not sure why. I called technical support and they couldn't help me figure out why it looks funny as I've only installed the template, and changed the settings how the readme told me to.

I have just installed the current version of Avonlee Contempo Template. I noticed that readme directory contains a jquery.easing 1.3. I am guessing this is for a later update.

I would recommend re-uploading the template files to the correct directory on your sever. See the readme.html file for detailed instructions.

You had a fix which was apparently was included in newer versions.

I have two more questions. :)

#1: How can I change those grey boxes the side-box titles are in to a different image?

#2: And, how can I make the box tabs stay open on the home page? I'm not sure my customers are going to realize they need to click the tab to open it. So I want to have the first tab be open, and then they can click the other tabs to switch to those.

Ok, I see the error now. I will include the fix for this in a future update. If you want to fix it now, delete the includes/templates/avonlee_contempo/jscript/jscript_jquery.min.easing.1.3.php and
includes/templates/avonlee_contempo/jscript/jscript_jquery.min.php files and replace with the attached file.

The home page center tabs should be open on page load. You can change which tab shows by default here:

It looks like you have not uploaded all of the template package files to the correct locations on your server. I would recommend re-uploading the entire template package.

Thanks for taking the time to explain that. I dunno what happened - they were not like that when I first installed the template. (sigh) I guess - like you said- I didn't upload the files correctly - !!

Category Tabs recommended to off but....

I cannot seem to turn them ON with the Avonlee template. I have tried admin > configuration > layout settings and turned categories tabs to "1". but they're not there. http://www.drillplace.com/store
They appear with the classic green template. Are they forced off in a .php file somewhere?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the stylesheet.css file, you need to remove the display:none; from the #navCatTabsWrapper.
