If you are going to modify the template or not use the template as shown in the demo, then you might need to make some css adjustments. The template comes with a cross browser javascript to make this easier. Just use the syntax .chrome selector {declaration}

Hi Anne,
Yes, I know I have a ton of dog breeds in the sub categories, but is there a way to be able to fit them all in, maybe add a number to some file in order to lengthen it?
There are over 700 different dog breeds around, but it would be great if I was able to fit in at least 110. I have already taken out a few, and I don't really want to drop to sub sub Categories as people don't want to click that far in, especially on mobile devices.
Thanks Jenvin

Maybe there is such an alternative way to list, but what about breaking the breeds up into some sort of alphabetical sub caategory(ies) such as alph-cava or so, that way, won't have to dig too deep. Like if dog is one main category and then just the sub categories of the alphabetical listing(s), then you could break that up into however many sub categories as necessary not to have the problem that the current setup is causing?

Thanks mc12345678,
I've just totally deleted everything I've done including the zencart I started with because it was so mucked up.
I've thought of that as well eg breeds a-d, e-g ect.
A pity I have to do it that way, as the 1.3.9h took them all and worked well. It's a pity also that the base templates can't be made responsive to start off with. Maybe that is something which can be done in the future.
The store wasn't the one I have been using, so apart from time gone, it doesn't really hurt.
Thanks for your reply though. It is appreciated very much.
Thanks

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Is there a way to display the center div New Specials and Featured Products, with full width, when side bars are turned off?
What I mean is I just installed the template without sidebars, and the featured products is displayed with a small 3 column layout. I am testing this on a demostore.
Code:
http://www.theoutletseason.com/demostore
What I want is to take the full width instead.
So everything is at default values.
Thanks! Great template BTW! I can't wait to get my hands dirty and start customizing it!

Hi Anne,
The mobile category header alignment seems to throw off my site in ONE particular instance. I have at first recognized it on my Firefox and IE browser when minimizing it to half screen. I ended up testing it on my Android phone and it does the same thing in Opera Mini as well on my kids nook.
The ONE instance is when I click on the m-cart image from any page on my site. It then loads as the picture attached. But if I was to maximize and then minimize, the menu dissapears and acts normal like your demo site. From what I can tell, it seems that the m-menu jpeg dissapears and opens automatically.
Is it the common/tpl_mega_menu that controls the mobile view category header? My responsive and style sheet css files have not changed so I assume it has to do with how the menu opens.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Righto, I'm back. New install. New responsive uploaded to server.
Everything going reasonably well, but the define about us isn't in the define page status, but is in the Define Page Editor.
I have already done what was suggested in the early pages on this thread (page 6 I think) by copying the define_about_us.php file from includes/languages/english/html_includes/responsive_sheffield_blue to the includes/languages/english/html_includes folder.
It now appears in the Define Pages Editor, but doesn't appear on the Define page status.
Can you please tell me what I need to add or take away, so this can be fixed please Anne?
Also, for some reason, I have no EZ pages. Don't know if that is to do with the base template, or the responsive one.
Please help, I'm seriously stressing out here. I've done everything step by step on the read me, and can't see what I've done wrong.

Okay, I have it narrowed down to the mega menu add-on that seems to be clashing with other add-ons I have. I tested this by uploading the responsive Avonlee Contempo and I do not have that weird alignment issue in mobile view. The only main difference I see between the 2 templates is that one uses the mega menu and the other does not. Not a deal breaker as the Avonlee can be tweeked to get a very similar layout.

It should automatically expand to full width if the left and right hand columns are turned off.
Have you followed all of the installation steps?

You can see the readme.html file for a list of devices on which the template was tested. If your device is not listed you might have to make some adjustments.
The template file for the mobile menu is includes/templates/responsive_sheffield_blue/templates/tpl_modules_mobile_categories_tabs.php
Thanks,
Anne

If you run the about_us.sql patch included in the template package the page will show in the define pages status.
What do you mean you have no ez pages? Do you have any ez pages created?

Anne, I did run the about_us sql from the start. I uploaded the file into the Install sql patches area, as I couldn't figure out how to copy and paste it in. Didn't do anything. However, over Christmas, I'll go into the sql and check it's in there.
Re- the EZ pages. Somewhere in your read me, you say to go to tools ez pages. Did that, nothing there.

If you don't have any ezpages created, then you will need to create one before anything will show ;) See the FAQs section for a tutorial about how to create an ezpage if you need additional help.
Try this sql:
Code:
INSERT INTO `configuration` VALUES ('', 'Define About Us Status', 'DEFINE_ABOUT_US_STATUS', '1', 'Enable the Defined About Us Link/Text?0= Link ON, Define Text OFF1= Link ON, Define Text ON2= Link OFF, Define Text ON3= Link OFF, Define Text OFF', 25, 90, '', '', NULL, 'zen_cfg_select_option(array(''0'', ''1'', ''2'', ''3''),');
Thanks,
Anne

I also had this issue that popped out in 2 instances, 1) on a tablet and 2) on a browser at the point of the template switching from desktop to responsive. This only happened on 2 pages, the main index and product info pages. What I found was that in the tpl_main_page.php, if you were to disable the right column for certain pages, it would give this result. So if you were not using a clean install and did happen to disable the right column then take it out. Hopefully this solves your issue or someone else who did this with previous installs.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Good day,
I'm asking for a smidge of help. This is not specifically responsive sheffield blue related, but does apply to it (and perhaps other responsive templates. I'd like to offer a "button" (or link) on my site for those mobile device users that really can navigate around the site without the benefit of the responsive cSS. I haven't wrapped my head around the code enough to tell what value to disable, or what additional code to add. The last time I did something like this I had to try to use a cookie and htaccess redirects, but that was not with a responsive template.
Thank you for your help in this matter. If it needs to be redirected to a new thread please advise or do.

This function has a guaranteed slot in v2.1
I have it fully functional now but have been extremely busy with clients and the holidays. You can check out the DEMO here.
As of right now the link "button" is in the top left corner of the browser for testing only. Once I have time to document and add the links and admin options it will be available in header, footer, information side-box and more-information side-box.

No, I have not personally tested this module. If you want a lightweight lightbox module that is responsive I would recommend one that rbarbour has worked on here:

I love this. This is one problem that I have been trying to solve in regards to the new responsive template default version using the php detect script and a demo site for responsive templates. A lot of people just don't understand why when they make their browser window smaller with a template using the php detect script it does not switch to ipad or phone view.
Will you be adding this to the responsive template default package?
Thanks,
Anne

The first line of stylesheet_mega_menu.css has a z-index of 9999 in Stirling Grand template - although the same applies to this template. this z-index is causing the mega menu to overlay the popup image. Can I safely change this value without affecting anything else? Any suggestions to what value to use?

It's just occured to me that I could be looking at changing the module stylesheet to suit instead. I've had a look and there would be multiple changes of z-index values required. The lowest value in the lightbox is 1042 so a z-index of 1041 for mega menu should do it. I don't think there are any values between 1042 and 9999 in Stirling Grand (and no doubt Resp Sheff Blue) so hopefully changing it won't be a problem - just need to double check.

Whenever you have a blank page or part of a blank page, check your logs folder for errors and correct them.

Not sure I fully understand...
2.0 recognizes a mobile phone, tablet and desktop by detecting it's UA (user agent), in order for the screen to change display on the desktop you will need to put those common breakpoints (min-max widths) into the responsive_default.css file.

Obviously not.

Are you saying that you do not want mobile devices to be able to access your site? Do you mean that you don't want to use the responsive aspect of the site (readjustment of content while dragging/zooming the borders)? What is it that you expect to happen related to this "deactivation" of the mobile side?
-
Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
It's true that my request was confusing. I have a forum on that web site and Facebook take a huge place in the organisation of the business (which is not a business but a community... anyways). The computer template was modified in consequence and I just wanted to have the full template view on mobile, like on a computer. It was a click job in the administration settings to deactivate the responsive template, I saw it after my request. But it looks that it will ask a lot more work to make the full template to look right on mobile phone than modify the responsive template.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
I have been using this template for a few months now; some of my customers are telling me that they cannot change their shipping address because there is no "Changer your address" button on the shipping checkout page.
So far, it seems like the reason the button does not show up is if a customer is using IE8 or older. IE9, IE10 and IE11 works fine. Is this a known problem?

I don't cross browser test for earlier than ie8. The percentage of users is just too low. For December it is down to 0.4%:
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_explorer.asp
If you want to cross browser test for this browser you can do it using the css_browser_selector.js which is included in the template package.
Thanks,
Anne

Thanks for the information, so what I understand from your answer is that you have tested IE8.
A customer mentioned to me that he is using IE Version 8.0.7601.17514, and the "Change my Address" button is not showing up. Have you experienced this?
I will do a test regarding this later today.

Ok, I have been testing this extensively with IE8 today. Here are some issues I found:
Product Images squeezed narrow (on product info pages)
"Change my address" button not visible on checkout shipping page
"Back to shopping", "Estimate shipping" and "Go to checkout" buttons are not visible on shopping cart page
Home | Login | Items | Checkout line in header out of alignment
Drop-down Product description on product info pages always closed
Not responsive (I guess this is too to ask from IE8)
I have attached a screenshot from your test site in IE8 here, so you can see what the shopping cart page looks like, and what is missing.
The squeezed image problem and missing (image) buttons I got fixed by adding this to the CSS file:
.ie8 img {height: auto; width: auto\0/; max-width: 100%;}
I also got the header links aligned, but I still haven't figured out how to keep the Product description drop-down on the product info pages open at all times. Would you happen to know how this can be done? (in IE8 only).

I'm installing the Responsive Sheffield Blue template on a fresh install of ZC 1.5.1. I've completed the steps up to and including the SQL patches. I go to Configuration-->Define Page Status, and there's nothing there about an about us page. I'm not sure how I could have possibly screwed up these simple instructions. Any ideas?

I've taken a look at my database and it looks like when the about_us.sql ran, that it didn't install the first value, so everything is off by one cell for lack of a better explanation. For example DEFINE_ABOUT_US_STATUS is under configuration title instead of configuration key. Is there any way to fix this? I copied and pasted the whole sql file, so I don't know how that happened.

Ok I went into the database and shifted everything over one cell and it seems to be fixed. I think the problem was there was no value in there for configuration_id, so it put the configuration_title there instead which made everything shift a cell. I can't believe I actually figured it out. :)

Thanks, Anne! :) I have one more quick question. When my browser window is completely maximized, my right column gets shoved down to below my left column. When I reduce the width of the browser window, the right column goes back to where it's supposed to be. I've never experienced something like that before. Where should I start with trying to get that fixed? I'm using the most up to date version of Chrome for Mac. Thanks! :)

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Hi, I'm using this template on v.1.5.1. I've just got to the part where I edit the slideshow settings. It says to go to Configuration > Responsive Sheffield Blue. I don't have this option. The last option on the list is ezpages settings.
I followed the installation to the letter so I don't know what I've done. :-(
Could someone please help?
Thank you in advance. :-)

Did you run the sql patches? See the readme.html file for instructions.

Thanks for such a quick reply. I did that when I installed it originally. I thought about doing it again but it states in red not to do it if done before. :-(

My guess is that the patch was not installed. I would try it again. It is the responsive_sheffield_blue_patch.sql

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Guy’s I’m wanting to add 2 more slides to the banner. I have the image files in the banner folder.
I have also add the following patch to sql
INSERT INTO `banners` (`banners_id`, `banners_title`, `banners_url`, `banners_image`, `banners_group`, `banners_html_text`, `expires_impressions`, `expires_date`, `date_scheduled`, `date_added`, `date_status_change`, `status`, `banners_open_new_windows`, `banners_on_ssl`, `banners_sort_order`) VALUES
('', 'rsbslide6', 'http://www.picaflor-azul.com', 'banners/rsbslide6.jpg', 'rsbslide6', NULL, '0', NULL, NULL, '0001-01-01 00:00:00', NULL, '1', '1', '1', '0'),
('', 'rsbslide7', 'http://www.picaflor-azul.com', 'banners/rsbslide7.jpg', 'rsbslide7', NULL, '0', NULL, NULL, '0001-01-01 00:00:00', NULL, '1', '1', '1', '0');
I can look in the tools banner manager and see they are in it.
Then I insert sql patch
INSERT INTO configuration (configuration_id, configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES
(NULL, 'Banner Display Groups - Rsbslide6', 'SHOW_BANNERS_GROUP_SETRSB6', 'rsbslide6', 'Rsbslide 6', @configuration_group_id, 37, NOW(), NULL, NULL),
(NULL, 'Banner Display Groups - Rsbslide7', 'SHOW_BANNERS_GROUP_SETRSB7', 'rsbslide7', 'Rsbslide 7', @configuration_group_id, 38, NOW(), NULL, NULL);
It loads but I do not have the two extra slides in the banner, still the 5 only show . What am I doing wrong. Site is up at http://thecubden.org/store/

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Hi Anne
I love the template and got it to work and of course changed the look of the page again . Thank you for suggesting the change.
My question is how easy would it be to add separate boxes on the side bar for categories . EX : Photography with the artists names and sections below it so it reads something like
Site is http://dezertdezinez.com/workspace
Photography <<< this would be the header
Arizona Photos by Jym < Artists list would be next
Then the theme list would be under
Black N White and so on
then
Debbie's Kraft Korner << this would be box header
sections below
then
in a new box
Scrap Kits << this would be a header for the box
Full Kits
Elements
Total there would be like 6 or 7 boxes I think
If it is possible could you head me in the right direction ..
Please and thank you for any help you can give .

I would recommend using the categories dressing module for this.

thank you . One more question .. Why would a plugin show ok on one template yet not show on the new template if all files are in the right place for both templates .. I am only using this template as of now though I want to add the side boxes as I had set up in the other template.
Any help would be wonderful . side boxes are oneall sign in Live help

Certainly would help to understand more about the plugin in question and what is meant by not showing in another. If it is related to sideboxes, well there is a sort of process to go through with sideboxes when installing a template, also this template has some "added" features that possibly could/should be incorporated into sideboxes for them to show as/when expected because of the added responsive functionality.

Any properly installed, stable plugin will work with the template. Check to see that you have all of the files installed in the proper place for the plugin.

Guessing that the error is because perhaps the patch had been run previously; however, won't know specifically without knowing what error(s) were logged. Check your error logs (sitedirectory/cache for zc v1.5.0 or sitedirectory/logs for zc 1.5.1+) report the results. At moment unable to identify other reasons why that action wouldn't produce the desired results other than if you need to clear your cache/cookies or try from a different browser to see if something about the session is making it seem that the step has not been completed.

Quick question: I'm trying to get things aligned the way I want them and I've looked at code until my eyes are crossed. Can someone tell me how to get rid of that giant strip of white between the bottom of my logo and the top of the quick links menu? See screenshot - I circled it in red. I can't figure out what item I need to edit to make that smaller. Help, please? :)

While nice to see how something looks in a still screen shot, modifications such as this are best/easiest when looking at the live site. It's not possible to give an exact solution without that. Please provide a link to your site. (Can use spaces or substitutions etc in the name.)
You could also help yourself by using a tool such as firebug to identify the applicable CSS to solve the issue.

Anne,
The error was a duplicate entry and I just went ahead did a complete uninstall of ZC and did a complete new install. I am still getting the same problem on Step 5 of the install directions and that I do not have the column that has the "show box @ min width. I made sure I sent the sql patch and selected everything in all the patches and still got the same response.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Anne,
I made sure I have the admin/layout_controller.php uploaded or at least it is showing on FileZilla that it did and I sent the responsive sql patch as well. I am still not able to get the Show Box @ Min Width on step 5. Sorry I wanted to make sure I was clear on what I stated above.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Hi Scott and Anne
I am having a similar issue with the template as Scott. I have customised the template colour scheme and layout and also changed the menu item content. The site works perfectly in all browsers on Mac. It works on FF on PC but Chrome and IE on PC both have the search box floating to the centre behind the menu if something is added to the basket. The Checkout text also drops down to a second line.
Attachment 13685
In IE if you switch off compatibility mode it works but the site logo vanishes?
Any ideas?
Thanks
George

Have you applied the patch to the header? The patch is located in the thread and deals with where the applicable div tags are/should be in the header and whether there is a value (I think other than '') to one of the constants used.

Don't know if I mentioned it before, but do you have the contents of the layout_controller.php setup to load more than once? Ie, renamed the original but maintained .php as an extension/ending of the file? (Files that end in .php have a tendency to get loaded by ZC. By design by-the-way.)

Does your database tables have a prefix? I had problems with a different template but all went fine once I removed the table prefixes, edited the config files appropriately and ran the sql patches within myPhpAdmin instead of zencart admin.

If that is/was the case, there should be error logs generated indicating the non-presence of the applicable tables (those that should have had a prefix) and the fix would be to prepend the table prefix define that is defined in the configure.php files. While plugins are designed to work with standard tables sans prefix, that would be an issue that should be brought to the developer(s) or at least located in the applicable thread about the plugin. Anne's templates at least as time has marched on and she continues to provide these free styles have continuously improved and any issues with them seem to be new and not repeated from previous occurrences. When I get a chance soon, I'll compare the default template files with what is in my store, but I don't think I had to do a work-around with this template to address table prefixes. It's been a few weeks though since installing it. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong if it did require some tweaking.

In stylesheet.css
1. search for #navMainWrapper {margin:-100px 20px 0 0 ;width:50%;color:#444;float:right;}
2. change it to: #navMainWrapper {margin:-110px 20px 0 0 ;width:60%;color:#444;float:right;}
Best of luck.

I do not think I have the layout_controller.php set to load more than once. The only thing I did was rename the admin of the template and uploaded everything according to the Readme file in the template package. Very Frustrating. I thought once about trying a different template and see if I have the same problems. I have not done any work so far on ZC, so I may do a complete uninstall and then start over.
Thanks

Btw, I didn't ask if the file was loaded twice, but if the content was loaded twice. It is good that you are following the directions provided by this plugin, because they do work on a stock ZC and one that has been modified following the suggested methods. Perhaps because this issue is not specifically caused by this template, but is being brought to light by it, that this discussion be taken to a separate thread. Unfortunately, I am not at a computer to identify the function(s) that would be called to display the at min information, but if you used the developers tool kit to find it, it should only appear once for the current template. If it appears more than once for the current template, then may be that the one loading isn't picking up the extra field.
Regardless, you should still be able to use mySQLadmin to adjust the values as desired, just wouldn't be as easy.

Take a look in your database, in the configuration table and see if you have a row for the configuration key COLUMN_WIDTH.

If you are going to make changes to the template (not use it with all of the features shown in the template demo), then you will need to do cross browser testing again. I see that you have turned of the languages and currencies boxes in the header, you have added an "email us" link in the top navigation, and you are not using the tagline.
I have included a cross browser javascript in the template package to make it easier for you to isolate browsers see the includes/templates/responsive_sheffield_blue/jscript/css_browser_selector.js for a link to the authors site with how to use instructions.
There is a patch posted earlier in the thread about a bug with the header file. You should apply the patch and then cross browser test.
As far as I know, there is no way to cross browser test for ie compatibility mode and I do not do this.
Thanks,
Anne

Table prefixes should not be a problem if you have your zen cart set up properly. The zen cart admin--tools--install sql patches utility will automatically add your table prefix to patches.

Ok, but on the template readme file it states on Step 5 to turn off the Show Box @ Min Width in the Tools - Layout Boxes Controller. I do not have the column Show Box @ Min Width as described on your readme file. I also do have have the search_header.php listed in the Layout Boxes Controller to change the settings for it as described in Step 6 titled Turn on Header Boxes.
Not Sure what is going on.

Hello, I am using ZenCart 1.5.1 new Installation and I have the same problem with the serach input box in Google Chrome.
Maybe I don`t get it, but was there a solution for that problem? I do not understand what syntax .chrome selector {declaration} means????

Generally, the solution has been to first correct the header as published/described in this forum.
Syntax similar to the above is added/modified in one of the applicable CSS files. Often first in the stylesheet.css file for the current template. To best provide assistance, please provide a link to your site. There are those that will provide suggestions on how to fix the issue.

If you have made modifications or are not using the template as shown in the demo, then you will need to cross browser test again. I have included a browser isolation javascript to make this easier. See the includes/templates/responsive_sheffield_blue/jscript/css_browser_selector.js file for a link to the authors web site with instructions on how to use the script to isolate specific browsers.
Thanks,

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Hi, I'm encountering a few bizarre issues with the Responsive Sheffield Blue template and hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm still learning where in the Zen cart spaghetti to find things ... If these issues have been answered previously please let me know. I trolled this thread already but didn't see anything.
1. Product Description does not display on the actual product listing page. But it DOES show up on the "All Products" page. Also, it shows up fine if I revert back to the default Zencart template. Is this a template bug, or did I do something wrong somewhere? Here's an example:
http://www.oceanworldgps.com/index.p...products_id=46
2. About Us page - I can't fix the default text! There is no "about_us" option under the Define Pages Editor, so I directly edited the "/includes/languages/english_responsive_sheffield_blue/about_us.php" file with the text I want - but this seems to have no effect.
http://www.oceanworldgps.com/index.p...51h0msiapttvl5
3. How can I edit the text that goes under the logo in the header section? I know I put this in at some point but I can't find it anywhere now. On my site the text reads "fast, reliable overseas shipping of marine electronics"
4. This isn't a problem but a note of appreciation to EVERYONE who reads and replies on these forums and support forums in general (e.g., Stack Overflow or whatever). You people are rock stars and are literally helping to make the world a better place.

1. If you look further back in the thread you will see a patch that addresses this issue
2. Check to see that you have all of the template files uploaded. It should be includes/languages/english/html_includes/responsive_sheffield_blue/define_about_us.php
3. This is called the tagline. If you look in the FAQs section of this site you will find a tutorial about how to customize this. Edit includes/languages/english/responsive_sheffield_blue/header.php
Thanks,
Anne
