Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Adam since you seem fit to continue to complain lets fill in a few details here,
2 days after the initial release of quickbooks for zen cart I sent you the modified files, how they work and why they work,
you chose to ignore this,
so now you can go and ask a developer, and this will all be fixed for you for your next release,
you know how to do it now...

I'd really like to put an end to this and not keep going back and forth in the forum.
I didn't choose to ignore anything -- I get emails, forum messages, and support calls every day and apparently your suggestion didn't get put on my list. If I forgot, then please just email or call me again. Because you think something should be done differently or better in QBI is not a good reason to ignore my wishes. Please, respect my wishes and don't post modified versions of QBI.
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
I wonder if it wouldn't be more beneficial for this discussion to happen between you two so that people navigating this forum for support don't have to read pages of two people's chat.
I currently do not use QBI but reading what's going I find it extremely difficult to support the notion that nobody can make changes/improvement to a mod that is released here.
Yes, I know you have a commercial version of this for CRE Loaded, osCommerce, etc. but I am assuming this version you released for Zen Cart is released under the same licensing as Zen Cart and it's open source? If that's really the case, can you really say people cannot make changes to "your core?" Again, working under an assumption that might be faulty.
Please keep in mind that the very code/mod you're trying to protect is useless if Zen Cart doesn't exist for you to be able to touch the core and change the Zen Cart code or integrate with it. Your mod is Zen Cart QBI which means it needs Zen Cart and QuickBooks to be of any use not the other way.
I completely understand your concern about people messing up code, not providing good documentation etc. but I think the Zen Cart developers also deals with same issue. If the Zen Cart team will take the same approach, perhaps nobody will actually be able to release a Mod because they would have protected their code too much to allow anyone to make changes.
On the contrary, there is actually a section on the forum dedicated to posting more efficient code of doing what Zen Cart already does. They are soliciting people to post code changes as way of welcoming improvement.
All Microsoft products as well as the big software manufacturers are subject to people posting work arounds, code update, security holes and fixes, etc. publicly and there really is nothing any of these big company can do about it other than use that to improve their next release.
I don't believe that Merlin was in any way trying to disrespect your wishes. His suggestion is a better approach for those that want to keep up with upgrading their Zen Cart. The more mods that are released that takes full advantage of Zen Cart system to minimize users having to touch core files the better we will all be in the end.
I want to thank you for releasing this mod. You have done a great job! Clean codes and superb documentation. I know that similar mod I have looked at in past cost $100s so this is a great gift to the Zen Cart community and your commercial version is extremely cheap compare to other solutions available out there.
Hope I did not offend you with my post in any way as that's not my intention.
Happy Zenning!

That's exactly why I said "I'd really like to put an end to this and not keep going back and forth in the forum." Hopefully we won't be hearing more from Merlin. He did correspond back and forth with me by forum private messaging, and his language was abusive. If he continues it, I will ask the forum administrator to handle it at that point.

It is an honor system for QBI that has worked perfectly up to this point. No, I can't absolutely prevent anyone from doing that, as I don't control the contribution area of Zen Cart. There are many programs that are open source, but the posting of new versions is controlled by the developers. Zen Cart is one of those -- there is a chosen development team of people who work together -- not just anyone can change the code and release it here.
QBI is possibly the largest Zen Cart contribution (that isn't a quality judgment, just a fact of the 1,000's of lines of code). The comprehensive documentation involves a 45 page manual complete with screen shots. There are 10's of thousands of users, and the only way I can keep the quality level high and support it to the level I do, is to have some control over it. I answer many support questions every day, either by email, in the QBI forums, or by phone. If people start changing it because they personally want it a certain way, and change the code in a good or a sloppy way, then it will make it impossible for me to support it. I would have to either work their mods back into the development version, which may have already changed from the posted one, or constantly be cleaning up bad code. I'd also have people calling me to ask why QBI doesn't work after they've downloaded a broken version. This is exactly what someone did once to the free osC version. They broke it, the person disappeared, and then people were asking me why they couldn't install it.

The Zen Cart team takes exactly that approach. They don't allow just anyone to make changes to the Zen Cart code. I absolutely welcome suggestions, ideas, even pieces of code. If the idea is a good one, I will be glad to add it to the next version of QBI. But, please let me do it, so that I can maintain the quality standard of the code and documentation, so that I can make sure it all works together, and so that if it has a bug or people need help, I understand the changes and can fix it or assist people. I know that there's no rule to prevent people from changing it and posting it, and I can't say they've violated any rules of the Zen Cart contribution system. All I can ask is that people respect my wishes and my attempts to maintain the quality and support level that I've given to QBI.

I don't dispute that his suggestion is a better way to install it. In fact, it had already been suggested to me and was being planned for the next release of QBI. (QBI, by the way, is completely self contained and no core files are altered. The only core file alterations were to add the db table definitions and add QBI to the menu, so it has been designed very specifically with this in mind.) But if I don't object to him posting changes, then someone else who doesn't know what they're doing will do it next, and then for all the reasons I've stated above maintaining and supporting the program would become impossible. It is also the way he went about it -- he knew that I've asked people not to post changes, and did it anyway -- he didn't call or email me about it first, or post his suggestion here in the forum or on the QBI forum. His manner was combative, and his language (in his private communications) abusive.

Advanced Support is available at the rate of $80/hr, 1/2 hr minimum, billed in 1/4 hr increments. If the issue is due to a bug in QBI, you will not be charged the hourly rate.

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Look adam,
I never wanted to upset you,
I actually didnt realize that you would blow a gasket for actually setting up the files correctly,
but I did send you the file structure on more than one ocassion,
<< actually just wanted to make things easier for people to use your module,
I could really care less cause I dont use it.
But for you to tell me that I cant do that, was not kool.
If you tell me I cant, I will just for spite.
you can also ask the developers here if that is a true statement.
If you push me I will push back,
had you sent me a quiet PM then this would have been Ok kool, but you didnt see fit to do that.
Im done, I have done all I can to placate you and rectify this,
If the devs dont pull it they dont pull it,
your a step ahead on your next release, Im so done that QBI will no longer incorporated by us.
That should be enough to apease you,

Betty,
It only works with Quickbooks, not with Quicken. Since the purpose of QBI is to import Invoices or Sales Orders, I assume you are referring to Quicken Home and Business? If you are running an online business, you might consider moving up to Quickbooks Pro 2007. Intuit has reduced the price to $149, so it is pretty affordable. QBI currently only works with US versions of Quickbooks, although other country versions are in development.
Thanks,

That's strange that there isn't an error then for products and customers. Make sure that the DIRECTORY itself is set to CHMOD 777. You could also put a dummy file in there called qbi_orders.iif and CHMOD it to 777. It will get over-written when a new one is made.
I'm not sure what you mean that the order dates are wrong. You won't get any new orders until some are placed AFTER QBI has been installed. Also, they won't show up unless they match the status that you've set on the QBI Configure page under the option "Import orders with status:".
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks,

that need to go into the folder named extra_boxes.

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
I have just uploaded QBI v3.21b to the contribution area.
Version 3.21b is the same as 3.21, except that the installation procedure has been simplified. It corrects a minor bug in the previous 3.21-NCC that caused QBI not to show in the Admin menus (the easy fix is in Merlin's post above).
Great thanks to Merlin and Alex for pointing out the improved installation to me.
Thanks,

No.
Just move
/admin/includes/boxes/quickbooks_customers_dhtml.php
to:
/admin/includes/boxes/extra_boxes/quickbooks_customers_dhtml.php
Then it will be virtually identical to 3.21b. I renamed those files added by Merlin, just to be more consistent with the rest of QBI, and removed one that wasn't needed, but functionally it is the same. The core code of 3.21, 3.21-NCC, and 3.21b is identical.
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Zen Cart versions that QBI works with:
QBI works with all versions of Zen Cart (to my knowledge)
Just to clear up a little confusion, when one uploads a contribution, you are only able to choose one version of Zen Cart from a drop-down list. I always choose the latest one, to indicate that QBI works with the latest version of Zen Cart. But in general it works with any version. If you do discover any issues, especially with any payment or shipping modules, just let me know.

You are not doing anything wrong. This is a bug -- the tax_lookup column is not currently used and should have been removed from the code. This problem only affects some people due to your php settings. I will post simple instructions to fix it this evening.

Remove: 'tax_lookup',
Make sure to delete just the characters above, so that the commas and quotes remain correct. Just to be sure:
This section: 'tax_rate','tax_lookup','pmts_memo',

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
I'm have been configuring and performing setup. All is well except Payment setup. I receive:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: check_payqb() in /home/natuscom/public_html/greenhouse/qbi_pay.php on line 52
Here is that portion of the referenced file:
Code:
// Display update payment types button only if pay types have been imported
if ($infile->check_payqb()>0) {
$infile->form_footer(PAY_TYPE_BUTTON);
} else {
$infile->form_footer_sans_submit();
}
$infile->form_display();
A search for check_payqb in my database using phpMyAdmin finds no matches.
A search for check_payqb in the developers tool kit finds only the file referenced in the error.
I guess I can export my qbi tables and compare them to the original mod sql.
Anybody have any other thoughts?
Thanks!

Audra,
This doesn't concern your tables. The function check_payqb exists at line 1423 in qbi_classes.php. Is everything else working? You were able to update and save the Configuration? Check this first -- change something, and make sure it sticks, to verify that the database connection is ok. If this checks out OK, try downloading QBI again, and reupload the qbi_classes.php file to your server. The file may have gotten corrupted. Also, check your server error log for any other errors, if you don't have warnings print to your screen.
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Hi Adam,
I have gone back one version and removed the tax_lookup and it has got me past the previous sticking point so thank you for that.
I have now got my product and the attributes into quickbooks and I havegot my customer list into quickbooks which is great. I even managed to suss out the column for getting the tax/VAT exempt or standard to import correctly(as it had not done so on the first attempt - the column was not exported by qbi in quite the right way)
So at this stage I should say I am breaking your rules slightly as I am using the UK version of Quickbooks and I know the current version is US only. So my next question may be caused by this fact.

Could you just through some light on this for me. I am not to sure if it is related to the UK bit the tax bit or something else.
Many thanks. Once this is sorted I will start to look at the transaction so any guidence there would be great.

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Hi, Newbie here. Integration with Quickbooks is extremely important to me, but I seem to have the reverse problem that most of the people on here are having (Yes, I just read all 336 posts on these 34 pages before asking my stupid questions ;-)
My issue is I am new to shopping carts in general, and already have my data in Quickbooks (specifically products, sans large descriptions like I am putting up on products on my Zen-Cart). Once I get all of my products into the cart, this is going to be awesome for me to be able to work with Quickbooks, as I have to maintain that as accurately as possible.
This is likely not the right place to ask this, but after inputting several product lines into my Zen to learn the features and functions, is there a relatively easy way to import products FROM my Quickbooks data (csv, excel, etc) into my products database of the shopping cart?
Again, I am learning the ins & outs of the cart software, but was gleefully hoping there would be a reasonably simple way to import blocks of inventory items without having to know several programming languages.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be much obliged!

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
I am a new non-programmer user of ZenCart which installed without problems using Fantastico. When I attempted to install QBI Quickbooks Import, however, I get the following message when I click on Quickbooks Import QBI in the Customer menu:
Warning: main(includes/qbi_app_top.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/onenessw/public_html/store/admin/qbi_create.php on line 23
Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/qbi_app_top.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/onenessw/public_html/store/admin/qbi_create.php on line 23
I have checked that the file /store/admin/qbi_create.php is there but I don't know the directory reference /home/onenessw/public_html/ is correct. My store is installed in the www directory of my website I am trying to build at www.onenessweddingcandle.com.
What do I do now? If this question has been asked before please refer me to it. I have searched the thread for several of the strings in the error but have not found it. I admit that I have NOT read all 34 pages of posts - will do if that is necessary to fix this problem.

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
I found some files that were missing when I FTPed them to the website.
I transferred them over and have been able to proceed with installation.
After unzipping files on your local computer can you just FTP everything in that directory without fear of overwriting directories that already exist. I am using FileZilla and have done the individual directories files each separately - thus my missing a few of those needed files. It would be much simpler if you could just do the whole unzipped file structure along with need subdirectories.

I'm not 100% positive on this but check your configuration. Go to the QBI page in your admin and then to configure and look under "orders" which is the second section. Here you will see "Update Status:" you can select if and what you want your status changed to upon download of the .iif file. Hopefully Adam will be around to confirm or deny this for you.
-
Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Thank you. Yes, I did check the configuration and played around with it. I'm puzzled that producing an iif file actually changed the status in zencart on that one occasion but not on any other attempt. It changed all shipped orders to processing in zencart's admin. So i tried this with no results:
Code:
Orders:
Import orders with status: Processing
Update status: yes
Change CC order status to: Shipped
Change check/mo status to: Shipped
Please help.

Any idea why there would be 2 links for "Quickbooks Import QBI" in admin/customers? Is that an indication that something went wrong with the install? I haven't tried using it yet, but noticed this and want to address it if there's a problem before spending time configuring the mod.

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Is there a way to reset my orders for creating iif files? I am not simply looking to re-download the last group of orders, I would like to create a file from a specific date (1/1/06), although I would settle for being able to recreate all orders if necessary. I'm guessing that there is probably some table data that can be wiped out to make this happen, but I don't know the specifics. If I am right, an SQL query to locate only the dates I'm looking for would be much appreciated:D

I'm not sure what you mean by going back one version. I suggest you use 3.21b.
Some earlier versions had the issue you are describing -- if the value is zero, the variable isn't passed from the form. Try setting the field qbi_itemsqb_taxable to NULL instead of NOT NULL in MySQL, and use the latest version 3.21b.
In the UK your prices include the VAT, whereas in the US the price for each item does not include tax, and tax is added at the end. So, I am working on UK compatibility for the next major release of QBI, however I can't really take the time to help you make this version work with UK QB, as it won't!
Thanks,
Adam

I'm not quite clear what problem is remaining. If you had set Import orders with status: to "Any", and had Update Status set to "Yes," then it indeed would do what you described. Most people don't change the status to Shipped until the orders are imported into QB, and they process the order and do shipping after it is in QB. If you do all your order processing in Zen Cart and just import the orders into QB to update your accounting, then you probably should uncheck "Update Status" so QBI doesn't affect it.

Matt,
QBI now automatically adds the menu item by adding some extra files that are in 3.21b. If you previously installed an earlier version of QBI and manually edited files to add the menu item, then you will indeed have it twice. It won't hurt anything, but if you want to remove it, you can reverse the steps you did in the earlier version to remove the duplicate.
Thanks,

Make sure that you are using QBI 3.21b, and that you copied the file qbi_tables_filenames.php into the directory /catalog/admin/includes/extra_datafiles/

Audra,
The ability to select dates has been requested before, and I will add this to a future version of QBI. In the meantime, go into your MySQL adminstrator and find the orders table. There is a column qbi_imported. Set the value as desired:
0 = new orders (not imported)
1 = previous batch
2 = imported (prior batches)
3 or greater = order is ignored by QBI
If you know some SQL, you can write a statement to change orders between certain dates.
Keep in mind some cautions when trying to import old orders, and determine if it will work for you, or it is better to start fresh (or at January 2007):
1) If the old orders contain store products that you have deleted, this will cause errors importing those orders (always set discontinued products to Inactive instead of deleting them).
2) If these are Inventory items, the inventory count in QB will decrement when orders are imported. This will cause negative inventory, unless you also enter all you PO's for the year.
3) If you charge sales tax, and the sales tax rate has changed, these orders will cause errors (unless you carefully limit the dates and adjust the sales tax rate in the QBI config for each date range that you import).
Thanks,
Adam

Forgot to add the SQL in my previous reply:
UPDATE orders SET qbi_imported=3 WHERE date_purchased<'2006-01-01'
This will exclude all orders before 2006 from the "All previous orders" iif download.

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the reply. This was the first time installing QBI, but it still added the double links. I won't worry about it if it's no biggie, I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't some type of corruption that would make me have to reload everything before I start to use it.
Thanks so much for making this available! I have been looking for a way to integrate my website with QB.

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Hi All,
Many thanks to Adam for this very useful contrib!
This post is slightly on and off topic, but I posted it here for the sake of those that are QB folks.
If any of you have been looking to upgrade to QB Pro or Premier 2007, I found a discount code online for Amazon.com that is $50 off for Premiere (which I just bought), and $20 off for the Pro version.
If my memory serves me correctly you enter the discount code during checkout or while looking at your cart contents. I don't remember exactly.
QuickBooks Premier Edition 2007 ($259.99 after $50 off)
URL: http://tinyurl.com/39bomv
Discount Code: FYY8A9IS
QuickBooks Pro 2007 for Windows ($149.99 after $20 off)
URL: http://tinyurl.com/2zu9sd
Discount Code: AM34HX96
QuickBooks Pro 2007 for Mac ($149.99 after $20 off)
URL: http://tinyurl.com/33jddh
Discount Code: AM34HX96
And for those of you using the multi-user versions:
QuickBooks Pro 2007 - 3 User Multi-Pack ($339.99 after $50 off)
URL: http://tinyurl.com/3yx4ws
Discount Code: FYY8A9IS
QuickBooks Premier 2007 - 5 User Multi-Pack ($1134.99 after $50 off)
URL: http://tinyurl.com/3ydc9u
Discount Code: FYY8A9IS
Though I think its like a big whoopie-doo for the $50 off if you're getting that 5-User pack. They should have offered like $200 off or something.
Anyhow, Pro will most likely work for most people if you're just doing Zen Cart sales, but I do business consulting and programming services too so the Premier is more for me. Plus it has better reporting and forecasting features than Pro.
Of course if you're not in the market for a Pay-Software accounting, WebERP is a really awesome free web based accounting package that does have some direct integration possibility for Zen Cart. WebERP can be found at: http://www.weberp.org. I used to use that, but it was a bit more than I needed. Its more just plain hard core (but easy to use) accounting. I like the bells and whistles in QB, and that it exports info to TurboTax during "that time of the year", oh not to mention direct download/import of bank statements.

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Hi All,
I'm looking for feedback about how others handle orders that require some type of edit, refunds, partial backorders, etc, particularly those not importing orders immediately but rather after the fact simply for bookeeping or inventory management, . Looking at the way QBI is set up I cannot come up w/ any solution other than that those orders will need to be manually editted within QB and also within Zen Cart (where possible based upon functionality.) Doing it manually is not the problem. The problem is making sure that we remember to do it. Once you streamline order importation any part of the process that is not streamlined runs the risk of falling through the cracks. Just wondering if anybody was using a system that is working well for them.
Best,
Audra

As an aside, here is what got me thinking about this. I am importing old orders. Some of the old orders were editted using an old version of Super Orders (when editting was still a functionality); coupons added, backordered items split off to another order, etc. I am editting my qbi_orders file in a spreadsheet to work out these out of balance orders. Discounts added after the fact are not recognized. I'm guessing Super Orders created an entirely new field for them. Those I simply added in. Same thing with refunds. With the refunds I have a choice, enter a line in the qbi_orders file for a refund or edit the total back to the original amount, import the order, then issue a credit memo inside QB. I don't honestly think it matters which way I go for these old orders, but it got me thinking about handling these issues as we go forward.
Any thoughts?
(Hey Adam,
"Discounts added after the fact are not recognized. I'm guessing Super Orders created an entirely new field for them."
Any chance you might look into this for the future? Super Orders is a fairly popular module. It would be great not to have to manually edit these orders. I'm off to the Super Orders thread to see if Frank can tell me more about these discounts.)

Audra,
There should be no need to manually edit the qbi_orders.iif file. All discounts and extra charges need to be matched in QBI (upload your QB lists, do Set Up: Discounts and Match: Discounts) according to the instructions, and then QBI will include them in the orders.
Thanks,

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Thanks Adam. I needed to edit the file for a few different things, deleted products (something we will no longer do), discount and refund edits to orders through the Zen admin using the Super Orders mod. I have done the setup and matching for discounts. I even matched discount fields that I do not use hoping they might correspond to these discounts added through the admin, but no luck. The manually added discounts still show in the qbi_orders file as a line item w/ the notation "Discount and Fee matching not set up." All discounts/fees that show on the matching page have been matched. These were old orders, editted w/ an older version of SO, and I cannot say whether this problem still occurs w/ orders editted using the current verion of Super Orders. (The editting capabilities are limited now.)
Thanks again,
Audra

Yes, old orders can be problematic, especially if anything has been deleted instead of set to inactive.

Adam, products matching question - my QuickBooks Name and my Zencart products.products_model are the same, yet QBI still wants me to manually match all the products. I was under the impression that if those matched it shouldn't need me to manually match it... was that erronous, or am I possibly doing something else wrong?
(using QBI 3 / Zen Cart v1.3.7 / QuickBooks 2005 Basic)
Thank you!

I'm looking at buying a new computer, and wonder if QuickBooks: Simple Start 2007 will work with QBI, or if I need QuickBooks: Pro 2007.
I'd rather not spend the extra $110 on that if I don't need to, so I can afford a better donation for QBI ;)

Matching is only necessary when you want to change the product's name/model, want to match a specific product/attribute combination to one QB item, or want to match to a QB group or assembly. Otherwise,
Zen model = QB item
Zen model, attribute, attribute = QB item:subitem:subitem

I have found what is happening. When a discount is added through the admin, using Super Orders, it adds to the orders_total table as a new line w/ a corresponding class of ot_custom. I don't know where the qbi_disccart table pulls its values from or the values are pre-defined, but it does not contain ot_custom, therefore, it cannot be matched and any order with an ot_custom line is out of balance.

I don't know where the qbi_disccart table pulls its values from or the values are pre-defined, but it does not contain ot_custom, therefore, it cannot be matched and any order with an ot_custom line is out of balance.
Audra
Audra,
QBI is not finding it because it is not actually a discount module. To add it manually, open your table qbi_disccart and add a row with the following fields filled in:
qbi_disccart_mod: ot_custom
language_id: 1
qbi_disccart_text: Super Orders Discount
If you use any languages in addition to English, add them as well.
Now, go into QBI and on the page Match: Discounts, you will now be able to match Super Orders Discount to a discount item in QB. After that, your orders should import correctly.
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
I have installed the latest version of QBI to a Zencart V1.2.5 with PHP version 5.05.
Install was done according to instructions with appropriate folders chmodded to 777, etc.
When clicking on any of the buttons like match/setup/support, etc - I get a 404 error message saying the file is not found.
I noticed that the file it is LOOKING for does not include the sub-directory of the store - it is seeking the file in the root directory and admin folder. For Example:
/admin/qbi_config.php was not found on this server.
The file is in the root/shop/admin/ directory.
Can someone tell me what file(s) that I need to edit that will make the script start looking in the shop directory? I have tried several different things and so far no luck
THANKS!

Hi,
QBI does not set the admin directory itself -- it just reads your Zen Cart setup, so you should check that Zen Cart is set up correctly (there are the constants DIR_WS_ADMIN and DIR_FS_ADMIN).
If you really need to set the QBI directories separately, you can do so in the file /admin/includes/qbi_app_top.php by replacing the DIR_WS_ADMIN and DIR_FS_ADMIN constants, but again you shouldn't need to if Zen Cart is set up correctly, so you should check how these constants are set in Zen Cart first.
// QBI location
define('DIR_QBI_WS', DIR_WS_ADMIN); // (full web path from www root)
define('DIR_QBI_FS', DIR_FS_ADMIN); // (full virtual file path)
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Adam,
Thanks for your speedy response - and for such a great program too!
That did the trick! I did not do the install on this site - just picking up where another web designer took off .... so I looked in the includes/configure.php file and the admin/includes/configure.php file - and the information there was pretty wacky! So .... I changed it all the way it should be... and VIOLA! it works now!
Thanks again!

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
I've got a shipping question. In Match/Shipping QBI has different category's for each shipping method I use (Overnight, Next Day Air, Next Day Early AM, Ground etc). Do I need to create each shipping category that I use in Quick Books as well to have it show up on the sales receipt so I know what shipping method to use for each order? I need to be able to look at the sales receipt, fill a order and ship it by the method that my customer paid for.
Thanks.

Yes, to have the Shipping Method properly appear on the top of the Invoice or Sales Order, you need to follow all the instructions in the QBI manual -- import your QB lists into QBI, process the list in Setup:Shipping, and match methods in Match:Shipping. QBI has none of its own catagories -- what you see are the shipping methods that QBI has detected in the shipping modules you have installed in Zen Cart, and the shipping methods you have defined in QB.
The reason this is required is because unfortunately Zen Cart (and osC, which it came from) does not store any reference ID for the shipping method with the order. It just stores a long text string that includes the shipping method, weight, and other text. So QBI parses out the shipping method, and then matches it according to what you've configured.
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
hey Adam! Installation was flawless. However, I am slightly confused about the registration thing? I clicked on the link that showed up in my zen cart admin, but it takes me to a description of QBI and link to buy it for oscommerce or creloaded. Don't know where to register or if I have to? It's telling me to on the bottom of all the pages LOL.
Besides that, I'm just unscrewing my quickbooks on the main PC, then I can put two and two together and iron out any quirks. Great mod man! I sent a donation to you also. Big thanks!

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Not all of my shipping methods are showing up in QBI. I have a number of shipping methods available in the Zen shipping module and many of them are not in the QBI match-shipping configuration settings such as USPS First Class.
These are the Zen shipping options and below that are the QBI shipping options that show. I am using the shipping modules that are a part of Zen and other than normal configurations, have not made any changes to Zen shipping. I did click on the "Populate Cart Shipping Methods" button with no avail.
Also, a number of shipping methods that I don't even have enabled are showing up in QBI such as "flat rate" and "per item" among others. Those don't really bother me so much as not having the shipping methods that I do offer. I need to know what my customer has paid for.
Thanks in advance

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Tried to edit my last posting for clarity and ran out of time, so I am reposting a clearer version of it here.
Not all of my shipping methods are showing up in QBI. I have a number of shipping methods available in the Zen shipping module and many of them are not in the QBI match-shipping configuration settings such as USPS First Class. None of the International options show up in either USPS or UPS modules in QBI

I am using the shipping modules that are a part of Zen and other than normal configurations, have not made any changes to Zen shipping. Also, a number of shipping methods that I don't even have enabled are showing up in QBI such as "flat rate" and "per item" among others. Those don't really bother me so much as not having the shipping methods that I do offer. I need to know what my customer has paid for.

Thanks greatly for the donation!
Look at the top of the QBI web page and you'll see Registration in the menus at the top. Registration is not required for QBI to work, but it helps me know who you are for support, and you'll be notified about updates. I'll be redoing the QBI web site in the future, as a lot of people don't notice the menu at the top!
Thanks,
Adam

QBI normally includes all shipping methods that you have in Zen Cart, whether or not they are enabled. Yes, there is a problem with some of the USPS methods due to inconsistencies in the Zen Cart shipping module. This will be resolved in QBI 4. In the meantime, you can add them manually to the qbi_shipcart table. The text must be a subset of the text that appears in your order -- check the orders_total table entries for ot_shipping, and follow the pattern by looking at the USPS methods that are included in the table.
Thanks,
Adam

I'm not sure what you mean by adding tables, as all tables are added automatically.
The shipping Setup and Match allow you to see on each Invoice or Sales Receipt what method the customer has chosen for shipping.
I would be glad to help you, however please let me know that you have read the entire 46 page user manual first, as this is all explained in detail. If it still isn't clear, then let me know and I can help clarify it.
Thanks,
Adam

Oh, I'm sorry, I should have quoted, i was referring to post #385, where you were telling the guy to fix the shipping methods not showing up etc.
I won't ask anymore questions until I've read the manual a few more times again. It takes me a few times to read the more technical stuff until I get it where I can do it.

Reinstallation rarely fixes anything. Please clarify: You can reach QBI by going to http://www.mysite.com/catalog/admin/qbi_create.php, but not by clicking the menu entry?
Don't worry about registration numbers. Please do register, but it will be a while before I issue registration numbers. QBI will continue to work in the meantime.
Thanks,
Adam

No problem at all. I don't want to discourage anyone from asking questions. I just want to make sure that people read the manual completely before asking so that my time is used as effectively as possible.
You shouldn't have to manually add any shipping methods if you don't use USPS.
Thanks,
Adam

The QBI file name qbi_config.php just gets passed to the Zen Cart function zen_href_link(). I suspect that the store root directory is not properly set in the Zen Cart configuration.

Re: Quickbooks Import QBI
Adam had been very supportive of this app. IMHO this is one of the best supported apps I've seen for Zen. The program is free and he (and other developers of other apps) support it when they can, but are not on call 24-7 for immediate response. We all do the best that we can. Remember what they say about catching more flys with honey than vinegar.
Now for your problem. I'd suspect that you need to take a look at your settings in QBI in the customer setting section. You may not have it set up to download the correct order status. Make sure that Zen is setting the new order status to what you want, usually Pending, and that QBI is set to import orders with the correct setting. This information is found on page 10 of your QBI users manual.
Good luck.

Does the status of your new order match the status you set orders for downloading in Configuration?
