Filezilla was likely giving you the wrong information because your host doesn't allow you to change permissions using your FTP client. (tsk tsk..) I have NEVER had issue changing permissions using ANY FTP client EXCEPT for the few clients I have that are still hosted on GoDaddy.. As I recall this is a HALLMARK of GoDaddy permissions issues..Quote:

see attachment. Preview page Image handler in admin section. Permissions for directories were defined in two different FTP clients. All files are there.
Image handler works on my local machine, but not on my site.

EDIT: Btw, no error logs in /cache or cpanel error logs and my /bmz_cache contains files/folders
My temporary fix is to disable Image Handler by setting IH resize image to no.
