Re: ZX Slideshow support thread
Greetings! First time trying this mod... 1.3.9d, I have custom HTML on the main page, is there code to add to display the show?
I've successfully installed it (as far as I know), see all the options and turned it on ("true")...
Please advise...

Re: ZX Slideshow support thread
Im having troubles installing this slider, latest version. I looked through the forum but didn’t find anything. I’m very new to this.
I have downloaded the files and in /includes/templates/Avalon I’ve added the css, images, jscript and templates to my ftp under main_store/includes/templates/theme304 -> and to individual css/images/jscript/templates folders.
I uploaded the v.1.5.x for sql as well.
Nothing is showing up on the main page.
It says: To configure the module, go to Admin->Configuration->ZX Slideshow but in my zencart back-end admin, when I go to configuration there is no zx slideshow option.
My site is at www.sunnysihota.com/zen
A few of the directions which I wasn’t able to understand were:
-Check your admin directory name and rename the one in this package accordingly. – Not sure what file to rename.
-Rename "YOUR_TEMPLATE" to the actual template name. – there was no ‘YOUR_TEMPLATE’ file I assume it was an older version and the name is now changed, I just used the ‘Avalon’ name
I saved everything in the ‘Avalon’ folder into the ‘root’ directory for the shop which is the ‘zen’ folder in my case.
Any help greatly appreciated!
-Sunny
Re: ZX Slideshow support thread
I'm certainly not a code junkie, but I did get that piece to show up in my admin ,after some struggle, and I can tell you that the files are not in the right place. Take a look at the instructions, because you have to put things "exactly" where they tell you to put them; In this case, the file that puts the control in admin is not where it should be, and I know this because I ran into the same problem (yet I'm still not able to use it either).
(By the way, nice looking site!)
My issue is, I got it all in, uploaded a couple of images to use but never saw the slideshow appear. I've put custom HTML using the define pages editor, and wanted to know if I'm supposed to slip in some code somewhere in there because it won't show up. I'd post the site but I've pulled the ZX package because it wasn't working and was hoping to get some feed back before trying again...:lookaroun
Re: ZX Slideshow support thread
I think there are 2 independent issues going on.
1.) the folder structure needs to be renamed properly (with almost all module installations): Avalan should be renamed after your template. and zcadmin should be renamed to the name of your admin.
2.) once those are changed you will also need to run the SQL patch under Tools->Install SQL Patches and select the Install SQL that corresponds to your version of zencart.
Do these solve your issue?
Re: ZX Slideshow support thread
I changed the name 'avalon' to my store folder name of 'zen', and that file is in the zen folder, so it created another 'zen' folder within it which contains css/images/jscript/templates.
I uploaded the sql but still nothing changed.
I then tried to copy over the 2 main folders in 'files', the includes and the other renamed to my admin, i put that into the root folder and uploaded sql.
Nothing has worked yet. www.sunnysihota.com/zen

You have this installed incorrectly.. You have loaded the module files into the wrong location.. this is why it's not working..
START OVER.. This means delete EVERYTHING you've done thus far.. rename the folders as suggested then upload the files/folders inside the "files" folder to the ROOT of your store.. The ROOT of your store is the location where all your store files are.. (In your case it's called "zen"). Then install the SQL file..
Hopefully this helps clarify things for you..
Re: ZX Slideshow support thread
Divalocals - I did exactly as you wrote it. I deleted everything, I installed the 2 files in the 'files' directory, one named after my admin, the other 'includes' and pasted those 2 folders into the root of my store which is public_html/zen.
Then I uploaded v1.5.x.sql but the site www.sunnysihota.com/zen nothing has changed there.
Am I missing something? What else could I try.
Re: ZX Slideshow support thread
Ok well I want this slider on my site and I can't get it loaded up. I'll pay someone to come on teamviewer/skype and show me how to install it properly. Someone please help!
Re: ZX Slideshow support thread
There are a number of zen-cart programmers out there, that will install this for you. Or PM someone and maybe they will help but here is what I'm thinking may be happening.
When you "upload" your sql file you need to do that in your tools menu -> install SQL Patches
the folder(s) named avalon should be renamed in your case theme304, the reason that you change the folders is so that when you upload the folders structure is maintained. This is one of the things you will learn after about the first 5-6 module installs, after a couple hundred it's simple.
example lets say you have a file called widget.css and you want it to go to the includes/templates/theme304/css/ directory. you would upload the folder includes in your /zen/ folder so it would almost look like your overwriting the folder.
Again so in your zen directory you would upload.
includes
'->templates
'->theme304
'->css
'->widget.css
and the widget.css will fall into the proper directory.
Does this make more sense?
Re: ZX Slideshow support thread
crexis's issue - there was no actual problem, he just didn't add the slides through Banner Manager. Everything was properly installed and working fine, but it was missing the actual slides since none were uploaded. :smile:
@chowardart - the slideshow doesn't seem to be installed or is disabled so I can't help, sorry. If you re-enable it, I might be able to help. Please keep in mind I won't be online until next week.
