Now that it's fixed, the pages take less than half as long to load
Who would've thought. Google is going to like this.

Another question - I set it to load the large image (for hover, on categories page) - does it load all the larger images when the page loads or as the user mouseovers?
I don't rename my images, just create upload images when editing the products. So if I did not rename mine as large then what part is not working?
Don't know exactly what is going on with your images but here is something I wrote some time ago:
I have thought of some stuff that was not mentioned in the section "Troubleshooting in a nutshell" of the mod.
First, _MED and _LRG suffixes are not used by IH, this is stock Zen Cart.
The entries that IH makes in Admin -> Configuration -> Images are clearly denoted by a leading IH.
If you want IH to operate trouble-free don't use any of that, just use the Default button and browse.
Let IH do the naming of your additional images, the resizing, etc.
If you are using mass upload utilities like Easy Populate, just follow the Zen Cart convention, e.g:
main_image.jpg (IH sees this is as image 0)
so additional images would be:
main_image_01.jpg
main_image_02.jpg
and so on.
Please understand that IH gives you the ability to use _MED and _LRG only for compatibility with Zen Cart.
Also, images are case-sensitive, eg. .JPG is NOT the same as .jpg, many cases of irretrievable images can be tracked down to a simple case oversight.
Avoid using special characters in images like: , / | \ ' " all these have meaning.
Special characters should be avoided in product names too, IH displays them.
Lastly, I have seen users modify Zen Cart core files to avoid the display of the <title> tag.
This tag is the product name, if not specified otherwise.
The justification is that there is less clutter in the images, and they become more aesthetically pleasing.
A matter of opinion, but a tad bit short-sighted.
The <title> tag is used by search engines when indexing images.
If you don't believe me, look here:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...2&postcount=24
adapt this to image indexing, if you become creative with your <title> tags in your images, you will achieve better SEO rankings.
Bottom line, don't mess with IH2, the original author sure knew what he was doing.
Lastly, MAKE SURE THAT YOU UPLOAD ALL FILES IN CORRECT LOCATION!
--------------------------------------------
Hope it helps.
I can attest to this.. One client's additional images did not display on products where she used single quotes in the product names.
 True statement IMO.. Gonna say what I have said consistently here.. If you install it in the correct locations, it should just WORK..
To add to this: Make sure that any IH2 files which overlap with files from other mods you have installed are properly merged using tools like Winmerge or Beyond Compare.
What I personally do as a matter of practice now when installing ANY mod is to backup the site I am working on. I then do a file comparison of the mods files against site files, and do a merge of any existing/common files before I do the install.
Some of you may be thinking that this sounds like it takes longer.. It might take a little longer.... However, I spend a little more time upfront on the install so I don't have to spend HOURS troubleshooting later. In fact I'll put it out there that a lot of the mod support posts (some of my own posts included) exist because many times we just want to get it done, so we take the short path to completion. (don't back up before installing ~ don't do file comparisons ~ don't read the FULL readme file ~ don't read the FULL support thread)
I've learned the hard way.. So now I'd rather spend my time doing a little more prep work upfront and be done the 1st time (the right way) versus spending 2-3 times as much time on the fix than I did on the install.. This way if I do have issues I can be more certain that the issue is with the mod itself, and not because I did a hurried install before dotting all my Is and crossing all my Ts..
Does anyone have IH2 working with Zen Lightbox mod?? I am having a problem with Zen Lightbox displaying blank white page when I click on the enlarge link and wondering if it could be due to the naming of the picture from bmz_cache.
I have it on several sites and most recently eCabinetPro and USFlagPro (see my signature) without a hitch.
Watch your image file size, seems Lightbox chokes up a bit on images larger than 800 px or a bit larger. I have limited all my images to that size and smaller and have no problems at all.

One last tip..
READ the README file for goodness sakes!!!!!
It is FULL of GOOD information.. It is not simply a file full of "blah blah blah blah".. I see more questions posted here that are ALREADY answered in the README file.. Reading is fundamental, so read the README file.. Get it?? Got it?? GOOD!!
Carry on..
