Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Shop around... you would be supprised what you can get if you are a non-profit organisation.
While i cannot name names (as its against forum rules under advertising) a fair few hosts do offer either free or heavily reduced hosting fees for non-profits. on the condition that on your website there is acknoloedgement of the hosts and / or a banner add to them.
worth a try.. you dont get if you dont ask!!
while i alway recomend you avoid shared hosting.. the cost of hosting these days means you can get a Virtual Private Server for about £100-£150 per year in the UK
changing hosts, really is the only fix for this

Aside from the fact that the sales rep was either misinformed or just flat out lied to me, it has been fairly reliable. Seems she didn't either know that it wouldn't fly, or it didn't sink in, or she just needed a sale. When I told her the finished site would have over 700,000 fairly small image files, she said that was not a problem. Yeah, right, not for her anyway!

I completely removed and un-installed both IH2 and zen lightbox1.5 ... did not make a difference.
I then cleared the bmz_cache of all the subfolders...1, 2, 3, a, b, deleted the lot, folders and all for a complete rebuild.
I then noticed there was a small file missing in the bmz_cache folder called .keep so I uploaded to the server.
That fixed it ! YOU BEAUTY - Also got the watermarks back.. go figure.
No idea how that was missing...must have just missed it..... learnin all the time.
Hope this helps someone.
glad you got it to work bootyrat, sometimes the addon goes into a coma when installing...I think that is a file that it adds when the first images are done.
i looked in my bmz_cache folder and i have all the alphabet folders it puts in there but no .keep file in there at all. where did you find it?

there are many places that can accomodate you...I myself ahve two hosts...one for my store on a virtual server and one for several sites for my site members...which is on another server.
try contacting the host directly...not the woman you talked to but maybe the billing department, tell them you wre misled and what they can do for you.
if it is paid hosting and they are reputable they will try to help...otherwise if free host go to another one that will allow your store.
also maybe she thought you mean small in size not kb size....
IH2 is made to keep the cache for speed, if you do not want that feature then remove IH2 totally and just use the stores main image thumbnail. You can always add the images to the body of your page description setting the size and then linking to the exact same image so in reality the size shown is smaller but will go to the normal sized one when clicked on.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hello!
I have IH2 installed on my store.
When i hover the mouse over the additional images, they are being resized and it's making them blurry. You can view it here:

Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi,
Is there any option to disable IH compression on images? Even when I set the quality on 100 it's looking kinda compressed.
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
@andreitero:
she is right, it is either the program or ...
1. you have told IH2 to have a medium/large size and no large image so it is making it
2. you grew the image in a graphics program from a smaller, low resolution image.
@Asdesign:
are you saying you are having the same trouble as the person i answered to?
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I'm still trying to get my mind around exactly how IH works. Is the bmz_cache directory a true cache, in that I could go in and delete its contents (except perhaps for the magic .keep file), and when customers go to the shop, the images will automatically regenerate? This has value to me, as products will come and go from my shop, and I don't want lots of old pictures around clogging up the directory.
Thanks.

not sure how it exactly works myself but i do see when i click the little "i" in the manager next to the first little image then click delete to get rid of the image it also deletes the image from the server.
unfortunately since I notice that when I edit the image if it is not named the exact same way as the original one it will remove all of them and I have to reload all of them for that product....but it can be lived with...lol
then there is the empty cache feature for this too that will refresh each image again.
