Re: ozpost shipping module
We were caught up in the problems, Rod and I had some points of difference within the PM system. To cut through the issue we used Rod to tidy up our Aust Post module. He came in and installed the new ozpost module and it is working a treat. Only thing the ozpost module doesn't do is order the red van to your door to pick up your freight.
Thanks Rod

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi there.
Got this module the other day, works great! But the shipping doesn't seem to calculate correctly for multiple items... How come? Am I missing something? All products have the right weight and dimension properties.
Here's the site - http://www.lizdisler.com
Appreciate your support, RM.

Re: ozpost shipping module
Rod is there a way to update the values of the shipping options? Aust Post changes its pricing more often than banks change interest rates, gets hard to adjust things like handling fees etc to try and fill the gap. Or am I missing something here?? :D

No. Nor is there any need to. The prices are updated on the server when needed.

Australia Post charges are highly regulated. Except in rare/special circumstances any price adjustments are made in September of any given year. Sometimes they'll go 2 or 3 years without changes.

Re: ozpost shipping module
hi rod,
from my understanding of the auspost module the cubing works by adding the dimensions together, is it possible (read difficult) to change this so that if there are multiple items in the shopping cart (and they all have their respective dimensions included) then the ozpost module sends seperate postage requests and then adds them up to get a combined postage??
or is this something that is going to be include later on?
thanks in advance

It isn't something I've considered, mainly because the per-weight shipping module seems more suitable for this requirement.

does the per-weight module work with cubing rules?

Re: ozpost shipping module
I seem to recall Aust Post pricing was raised 3 times? in 2007 I think it was, fuel costs being cited for rises during the year.
I dont understand what you mean by updated on the server? Is the module looking at austpost.com.au? Not a pc person...

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi Rod, I've been merrily rolling along with my OZpost since the problem was fixed on my site. Just seem to have encountered some major miscalculations lately that I can't find the solutions to. i.e. have checked the weight and dimensions of items and doing a test run through with an item that should come up with $1.10 it's coming up with errors and defaulting to $4. in once instance the total bill for postage was $13.95 or similar and it should have been around 4.65. Is it me? or maybe Aussie post is having some glitches too?

I'm going to suggest that it is just you.
Perhaps if you can provide a link to your store and one of the products that are giving the miscalculations I'll be able to take a look at it for you though.

Re: ozpost shipping module
hey rod,
just trying to get ozpost working on an updated zencart installation, it looks like on the checkout_shipping page its only trying to use the cache, however if i force it to get a new quote from the server it returns http://ozpost.vcsweb.com/postage.php...&version=1.0.2 which seems like it's returning valid postage methods, however nothing is still displayed on the shipping page- only a flat rate option unrelated to ozpost shows up. Disabling the flat rate option in admin causes no shipping options to show up at all
Any ideas?

If you are NOT referring to http://hotbeadbox.com/ then a URL to the site could be useful.
If you ARE referring to http://hotbeadbox.com/ then you are NOT using ozpost at all, but the much older austpost module that is no longer fully functional.

The ozpost module will only try to use the cache if the cache has what it considers to be valid data. Simply changing the number of items in the cart, (or the shipping postcodes) will cause fresh data to be retrieved.

Having said that, assuming hotbeadbox.com isn't the site in question and that you are indeed using ozpost rather than austpost, the most likely cause of your problem is with the version of php that you are using. ozpost requires php V5x - it is incompatible with php V4.x (php4 doesn't have the required XML parser)

Re: ozpost shipping module
G'day Rod
I posted in this thread a while ago and found my problem to be php5. Didn't know such a thing existed until you said so......
Anyways onwards and upwards. I have a couple more queries if I may:
a. I posted a thread in another room :
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146069
Essentially I want to use Ozpost only for certain product categories, and Fastways for others. Any neat tricks you know of to do this ?
b. How do you deal with normalised box sizes. Say I had a standard box 20x20x10 for argument sake which could fit 1,2....10 things in it so the cost of the shipping is based upon box size rather then the cubing of the product. I am being difficult I know but thought I would ask
Thanks

ah sorry Rod, its installed under hotbeadbox.com/new - you're right, the old installation is actually using the old Austpost module.
PHP5 is running for the zencart in the /new/ directory

It can be done, but depending on your php skill level you may find it a bit daunting.
The basic idea behind how to do it is this:
Near the start of all good shipping modules is a piece of code something like this:
if (zen_get_shipping_enabled($this->code)) $this->enabled = ((MODULE_SHIPPING_OZPOST_STATUS == 'True') ? true : false);
This sets the module(s) $this->enabled variable to be true (module active) or false (module inactive), so somewhere just after this code you will need to perform a check to see which category the cart items belong to, and set the $this->enabled variable appropriately.
In psuedocode you will be looking at something like
if ITEM is in CATEGORY_FOR OZPOST then $this->enabled = TRUE
else $this->enabled = FALSE
likewise, in the fastaways module you'll need something like:
if ITEM is in CATEGORY_FOR FASTAWAY then $this->enabled = TRUE
else $this->enabled = FALSE
This is basically all there is too it. The 'hard' part (which isn't really all that hard) is finding what category the items belong to. There are other threads that have a lot more detail on how to do this. Some of them even have practical examples that you will be able to use.
I doubt that you'll ever find an 'easy' way to accomplish this because no two stores will have the same categories, and if they did the category ID's will almost certainly be different, so all I can really tell you is yes it can be done, the theory behind it is pretty simple, the implementation will only take a few lines of code, but this code will always be 'unique' for any given store.
Having said that, this 'simple' solution does suffer a few shortcomings, for example, what if the cart contains one category item that needs to go via australia post and another category item that needs to go via Fastaways?
Such a scenario will require zencart to present two different shipping costs to the customer at the same time, but zencart doesn't have the logic/capability to do this ... to make it do so will probably require a different database design, as well as many other significant changes.

How do *I* deal with it? Well, I don't. The reason being is that this is getting into the realm of "The holy grail of shipping modules".
Perhaps if you review the conversation I was having with ALiepinieks
earlier in this thread (early December 2009) you will come to appreciate that what appears to be a relatively simple requirement is actually a very complex (impossible???) task.

OK, I've just checked this out, and the ozpost module itself appears to be functioning correctly in that it is returning valid data to your store, and your store appears to be correctly extracting the XML data.
I make this claim based on the results I received with 1x Amber toned Urn shaped floral focal bead in the cart , which gave a list of the following quotes:
$19.00
$4.35
$7.15
$7.15
$11.30
The $19.00 being for the 5 kg XL Satchel (what module are you using for this quote?).
The other quotes/figures (with no detail) correspond to
$4.35 Regular Parcel
$7.15 Registered Parcel
$7.15 Insured Parcel
$11.30 3kg Prepaid Satchel Express
The numbers in the description field appear to be the number of shipping days. 4,5,5,3 . This tells me that you have a postage delay setting of 2 days (correct?)
So, the question now is if the store is retrieving valid data (as it appears to be) then why isn't it displaying it correctly? This part is a real mystery to me. I've not seen anything like this before. and to be perfectly honest, I don't have an explanation for it.
Have you attempted to modify the ozpost module in any way to cater for the 5 kg XL Satchels?
What about the tpl_shipping_modules.php script? Has this been modified in any way?
If either of them have been modified my first suggestion would be to restore them back to the originals as provided by the ozpost distribution files.
If they haven't been modified, then I guess the next thing to do would be to enable the ozpost 'debug' function to see if that gives any clues.
You might also try setting the "show icons" to "off" (because the 'missing' data is actually the icon graphics). Hhmmmm, you might want to try this first .. I'd normally be expecting the page to show broken links to the icons if they were missing (or in the wrong directory) but this doesn't seem to be the case here... nonetheless by turning them off may help prove the point one way or the other.
At the moment I don't have any further suggestions. I did try to log on to see what would happen if I went through the checkout process (on the basis that even though I couldn't see what the quotes were for I should still be able to select one) but your logon script failed with the following error
Email Error: Could not execute: /usr/sbin/sendmail
I was unable to proceed further.
The main reason I wanted to proceed through the checkout process is because the icons are automatically disabled on the checkout summary screen and this would have confirmed (to me) that it is an icon display problem only and nothing more serious. Oh well, this is something you can now do for yourself :-)
Anyway, this is about as much help as I can give you at the moment - if you can let me know the results of turning the icons off and/or enabling the debug functions it may give me a few other ideas.
Cheers

I havent modified the ozpost module to allow for the 5kg satchels, they are set up as a flat rate shipping option in the zencart shipping modules.
Ill check out that other script, and ill try reinstalling those files and see if it helps.
I wonder why its not displaying the detail about the package types in the shipping estimator though? They show up on estimate shipping but not actually on the checkout page.
Thanks for the help so far ill let you know how I get on once i check those things out

If you care to send me the dimensions of those 5kg satchels (and the cost of them) I'd be happy to update the ozpost module so that they are included along with the other satchels (for some reason our post office doesn't seem to carry them).

This is a mystery - If they show (mostly) on the estimate shipping I can't really think of anything that would cause them to not show during the checkout.

Re: ozpost shipping module small image error
Installed ok it seems, but in the Admin interface, the little logo at the top of the config part of the interface, is missing.
This is the url that is trying to find the logo
zenynot/admin/DIR_WS_TEMPLATEStemplate_default/images/icons/ozpost_logo.jpg
any clues on what is causing this. Doesn't seem to affect operation, just annoying.

reinstalled all the ozpost files from the zip, made sure the other files hadnt been modified. Now it doesnt seem to want to return even those quotes it was getting before - Ive no idea what is going on there.
I turned debug on, it was getting things from the server (and displaying the response time), but now its back to "using cached quotes".
Ive disabled the flat rate shipping for now in case it was causing problems. If you were interested, the 5KG satchel appears to be this one here: http://www.auspost.com.au/BCP/0,1467...7EMO19,00.html (i think its the one on TV where the yeti is posting those big blocks of stone).
Perhaps something is seriously munted with this zencart installation, I cant find what the issue could be.

Which merely means that it has already retreived what it considers to be valid data for that particular quote. To force a fresh quote just change the destination postcode or number of items in the cart.

I'm thinking this now has a mind of its own.
I turned icons off, just to see what was happening - and ended up getting the 'blank checkout shipping' page, (which was the first problem, relating to php4 which ive sinced changed to php5). I turned on the /includes/local/configure.php to see notices and warnings, and low and behold, all the ozpost shipping quotes were there! I went back, turned on icons, turned off the configure.php and what the hell, its working with the icons.
The only thing that doesnt work now, is the shipping_estimator popup, which is just a blank window with "close window" as the only text, but I dont think ill particularly care about that if the main checkout page is working.
I still have no idea why it spontaneously started working, as far as I can tell its no changes on my behalf.
Thanks for the help there anyway Rod, if I do manage to find out what caused it to not work and suddenly stop working ill be sure to let you know! (fingers crossed it keeps working, haha).

This is often a result of caching issues.
Whenever you make any configuration type changes you should always close your web-browser and restart it before doing anything else.

That isn't so much of an error. It is more a statement of facts.
1. Australia Post will not handle parcels with a girth > 140cm
2. The item(s) in your cart are (apparently) 27cm high and 54cm wide, which is giving you a girth of 162cm. (the 'x 2cm' in the error message is a bit misleading, it should be just 'x2').
If your item/product measurements are accurate then you'll need to use a different shipping method. If they are not accurate, then make them so.
Cheers

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi Rod,
I am a new Zenner and have installed your Ozpost module. Once I changed to PHP5 it ran like a dream and has done so for 2-3 weeks.
Today it appears to have died and I am at a loss as to why. I did change the name of my admin folder as suggested....is it possible that has upset something?
Website is http://calicocrossroads.com.au/store/
Hoping you can shed some light.

Problem solved.........for some reason the server decided to re-enable PHP4 and that takes precedence even if PHP5 is enabled. Disabled PHP4 and everything seems fine again.

Hi Rod the dimensions of both the 3kg XL and 5kg XL Express Satchel Bags are the same, namely 56.5cm length and 45cm wide, This is different to the regular size 3kg and 5kg bags.
The price of the 5KG XL is around $19 ea and around $13.5o for the 3kg XL.
I have the epress satchel enabled however it cuts out (does not display) if I select more than two items in the cart even though the weight is within range (less than 2.4kg).

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi Rod,
I've noticed a problem when an item/s exceed size/weight restrictions.
The estimated shipping will show something like "ERROR: (16.00+64) x 2cm exceeds the Maximum 140cm girth allowed. Using AP Flat Rate."
Then show $99.99 as the flat rate. (This flat rate is an International Flat rate, however this is an australian delivery with Test Customer logged in.) Not logged in, it will show AP Flat rate as $25.00
Also, when you continue to checkout, it does not give the customer the option of choosing $99.99 freight. It only comes up with a Pick Up option.
www.giftpackaging.com.au if you would like to test.

Does this test customer have a valid (Australian) email address in the database?

Yes it is.
Everything else will work fine. If I choose items/qtys so that it does not exceed the restrictions, everything works perfectly.

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi Rod,
I've started to get the following error display when estimating shipping.
"Warning: curl_setopt() [function.curl-setopt]: CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when in safe_mode or an open_basedir is set in /home/homann/public_html/store/includes/modules/shipping/ozpost.php on line 739"
Any clues what might be causing this?
Cheers,
Peter.

Your webhost has changed something.
Having said that, I'm not sure if the CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION is actually needed these days. If memory serves me correctly, The setting allows/disallows whether URL requests follow redirects or not, and with the current server setups there are no relelevent redirects in place, so you could try commenting that line out.

Re: ozpost shipping module
ozpost Shipping Module does not work on our site www.grizzlengrouch.com/store
test product: www.grizzlengrouch.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26&products_id=88
shipping estimator just refreshes without showing the ozpost options if curl is off, and does not show anything half the time if curl is on.
Standard install: ozpost V1.0.2
I have installed the ozpost shipping calculator on 15 websites and although it sometimes buggy I has always ended up working in the end.
My first thought was that it could be something on the server because this is the first time I have worked on this server and it is configured differently that what I am use to; But...
I just tested the ozpost shipping module on a different server which has not had problems in the past with the same template monster template that I customized for this site and I have the same problem; so maybe something in the template monster template pack (inc sql patch) is causing the problem, I am not sure.
Maybe I will put this on the commercial help wanted section later.

My mate Spock and I both find this to be illogical. A program cannot be 'sometimes buggy'. It either has bugs, or it doesn't. The fact that it "has always ended up working in the end", is simply an admission that you have been doing something "wrong" with the installation(s) when first installing... Unless of course you have had to modify the ozpost code itself to get things going, in which case you haven't helped anyone other than yourself by doing so.

It could be - Certainly seems that way at the moment.
If you could enable cURL and repost the link to a product showing the problem I'll see if I can give any further clues. However, I'm pretty confident that your problem is going to end up being something amiss with your input data - Do keep in mind that cURL must be enabled though. (The next release isn't going to make this an option).

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi,
I have just installed the ozpost shipping module, and have found that it suits my requirements perfectly.
There is one thing I am a bit confused about, and that is the prices that are returned. All of the parcel prices seem to be about 20% lower than what is quoted when using the calculator provided on the Australia Post website.
For example, a regular parcel within 50Km at 250-500 grams is quoted at $5.60, whereas the ozpost module quotes $4.61.
Are these calculated at discounted rates, or is it more likely that I have a configuration problem?
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Simon

I tested this a few weeks ago; be sure to enter the exact same origin post code that is used in your store and destination location used in calculator tests, as aust post charge differently if the post code is out even just a little bit. After I did this I got the exact same calculation as on the aust post website.

Didn't mean to upset you, I just wanted to be sure we were on the same starting page for testing purposes.
I can verify that valid data is being received (and returned) by the server, so this narrows the problem down to PHP.
What version of PHP is your site running on? The ozpost module requires 5.1 or higher.
The following thread may be of some help:

Server uses PHP Version: 4.4.7
if ozpost requires 5.1 or higher then that explains it

For people with a Cpanel hosting you can do this by going to Cpanel > PHP Configuration > select PHP5 at top of page and click update
PHP5 requirement note could be put in the install.txt or readme.txt in the next update maybe

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi,
Thanks for your reply, but I am definitely using the same orginating and destination postcodes for both the ozpost module and the Australia Post website. The thing that is confusing me, is that there is no regular parcel rate of $4.61, the cheapest is $5.60.
So my question is - how can the ozpost module come back with $4.61?
Thanks,
Simon

It'll *definitely* be documented in the next update. This is one of those unfortunate things that didn't come to light until long after the package was released.

.... and if given the choice of V5 subversions, I'd go with 5.1 or 5.2 rather than 5.3 which then requires patches to zencart itself. (Just something to keep in mind).

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi
is there any way of getting this module to work with letter sized and parcel size when the items are priced by atributes?
I sell labels, and plan on selling them in larger quantities such as 2000+ labels which would place the weight over 500g.
The problem I have is not being able to get the ozpost module to recognise "parcel" weight from "large letter" weight.
I look forward to some help ASAP.
Kind Regards

No. (The module doesn't 'know' about attributes).

There isn't any difference. This is like asking "What weighs most, a ton of bricks or a ton of feathers".
The answer, of course is, they both weigh the same, a ton.
Anyway, now I've had my little bit of fun, I guess the best way to answer this is to give a quick quide as to how the module 'works',
Based on the 'package' weight and dimensions provided, the server first determines whether it is both small enough and light enough to be considered a letter, if so, it then goes on to categorise the size and cost of the 'letter;'.
A check is then made against the "Show parcel rates if letter sized" setting, and if set to 'no', the letter rates are returned.
If set to "Yes" the program continues to obtain the parcel rates (for the same size/weight 'package'), and returns the costs for both the letter and the parcel rates.
The client program (the zencart module) then compares this list of quotes with the methods that have been enabled/disabled to end up with a suitable list of methods available to that 'package' to where ever the customer may be.
.
That's how the quotations work.
The next question is, what determines a 'package'?
In your case, sheets of labels. Let's assume that you can fit 20 sheets into a large envelope and it'll be classed as a large letter. Let's also assume that one more sheet will exceed either the max 500gm weight and/or the 20cm thickeness.
From this, each sheet can be assumed to be 1mm thick.
If customer buys 0-20 sheets, the 'package' will be classed as a letter. If they buy 21 sheets, it'll be classed as a parcel.
The 'key' to having this work correctly is to ensure the weighr & dimensions of each sheet is correct (at least from a mathematical perspective).
Does that help?
Cheers

It's because Australia Post won't offer insurance for anything less.
It is more practical to use registered post instead (which gives up to $100 insurance by default).

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi Rod
I'm asking a lot and I may be dreaming but I just have a couple of questions about this mod. My store mainly has small products (craft supplies) and I mainly use pre-paid satchels and tiny padded bags to send my goods. Is there a way that this mod can work on just weight rather than the size of each product too? At the moment I have the weight displaying in the shopping cart then I need the customer to choose <500g or >500g during checkout but it doesn't always work out correct... they see the cheaper price and go with that.
In most cases everything the customer orders will fit in the satchels but I do have 12" x 12" paper that has to go in pizza boxes. Am I dreaming by hoping that if they put the paper in the cart the mod will magically know and charge them the pizza box price instead of the satchel?
I have been thinking this mod over for about 5 months now but every time I get The Castle quotes going over in my head because I think I might be asking too much and it can't be done. "She wants how much? Nah.... tell her she's dreamin'"

I would have to ask Why? The entire purpose/point of using product dimensions is to improve accuracy and allow the module to determine whether any given package can be classed as a letter, etc.
With only the weight to go by the module is unable to make this determination.

Although there is no magic involved, the ozpost module will determine the possible shipping methods based on the both weight and size. It won't show (for example) a 500gm prepaid satchel if the items in the cart weigh over 500gm - Nor will it show them if the items evaluate as being too large to fit.
On the other hand you may have an item that is less than 500gm, that is too large for for the 500gm satchels, but small enough to fit a 3kg satchel, in which case the module will quote for the 3kg satchel as well as regular parcel rates (if enabled).
Cheers

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi Rod,
First of all, thank you for taking the time to both write and support this module.
I've got the version of your module up and running on a full patched Zen Cart 1.3.8a site which I'm currently testing.
I've been though this thread a couple of times to solve a couple of problems which I first ran into (cURL and when having a blonde moment, the kgs vs gms in regards to weight). However I can't seem to find an answer to my current problem, which I hope you might be able to assist with.
The client I'm setting up this site for wants to sell Gift Certificates. The gift certificate is set up as per the FAQ page, which means that "Always Free Shipping" is set to "No, Normal Shipping Rules", it has 0 weight and 0 for dimensions (for testing purposes, the default dimensions in the ozpost module are set to 1,1,1). Yes, the item price is set to $0, and a drop down (set by attributes) specifices the value.
Now, when the item is in the shopping cart by itself, it's listed as Free Shipping. When there is more than 1 item in the cart, in the testing case a 100gms ball of wool, it's wanting to package it in a 3kgs satchel. The ball of wool by itself in the cart will only require a 500gms satchel.
I've been looking at this problem for most of the afternoon and this evening, however I just can't seem to find the answer, I guess other than suggesting that Gift Certificates be purchased in a separate order by themselves.
I put the module in to debug mode and this is what it put out (yes tare percentage is set to 0%, we've set a 100g ball of wool to weight 105g (back end is configured in kgs, so 105g = 0.105).
1 item:
http://www.thisismywww.com/tmp/1item.jpg
2 items (one with free shipping):
http://www.thisismywww.com/tmp/2items.jpg
If you couple please let me know the best way to solve this issue, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Daniel

Easy to solve. Go to your gift voucher product(s) and give them a weight of 0.001
The problem (for you, and anyone else that is interested) is that the ozpost module isn't (and never has been) made 'aware' that gift vouchers (and other virtual products) are a special case, and need to be excluded from any shipping calculations.
One of the things the ozpost module does (some will argue that this isn't the right thing to do) is ensure all products have a size and weight, and if none are given then the module assigns values. In the case of weights, a value of '0' is simply converted to a value of '1' - and in your case, since you are using 'Kgs' as your scaling factor this is being interepted as 1kg. Therefore, too heavy for the 500gm satchels.
Incidently, the comment I left myself in the code would indicate that I assumed the '1' would be 1gm - So I guess another way of solving your problem would be to change your weight factor to gms instead of kgs. An extra gram isn't going to make any significant effect on postage costs.
My 'rule of thumb' in deciding whether to use Kgs or gms is, if most of the items in the store weigh less than 1kg then use gms. If most of the items in the store weigh more than 1kg, then use Kgs.
If you have roughly the same number of each... toss a coin :-)
Cheers

Re: ozpost shipping module
For those of you that have asked for 'ozpost' to support 5kg Express parcels, the server now supports this method.
If you don't want to wait for the next ozpost release to take advantage of this, you can enable it yourself by editing:
/includes/modules/shipping/ozpost.php, then locate the line that reads:
. if ((in_array("Prepaid Express Satchel", $this->allowed_methods)) && (( $id == "PPSE5" ) || ( $id == "PPSE3" )))
and change it to:
if ((in_array("Prepaid Express Satchel", $this->allowed_methods)) && (( $id == "PPSE5" ) || ( $id == "PPSE3" ) || ( $id == "PPSE5K" )))
Save your changes. That's it.

Also, thanks for providing the update in regards to the 5kg satchel. I've updated the module and will test it on the test site.
Once again thank you (three times in one post  ),

I'm not exactly sure what you want advice on. The fact that you are seeing the debug messages, or the fact that with the example you provided you wasn't able to get any valid quotes.
To get rid of the debug messages, go to admin/shipping/ozpost and set 'debug' to 'off'.
To solve the problem of not obtaining a valid quote on the example you gave, it seems that this is because your item has an invalid weight (probably zero).

I'm still seeking official details in regards to these Satchels (price and size). I know I can obtain this information from other sources, but until I can find something from Australia Post themselves I must assume that these aren't currently in widespread use, and as such it wouldn't be wise to offer them as an option.
If you know of any links to the info I require I'll be more than happy to add them.

I know I can obtain this information from other sources, but until I can find something from Australia Post themselves I must assume that these aren't currently in widespread use, and as such it wouldn't be wise to offer them as an option.
If you know of any links to the info I require I'll be more than happy to add them.
Cheers
Rod
I fully understand Rod. The 3Kg XL satchel has the same dimensions as the 5Kg XL. They are available over the counter at Doncaster and Box Hill Post offices in Victoria. I will check with the Australia Post staff about availability elsewhere. the 3Kg XL Express satchel is not currently advertised on the Australia Post website. I am on an Australian Post Contract deal due the number of orders posted annually, We have been using these bags for the past 2-3 years.
Thanks again for providing these modules to us on Zencart.
Regards Mark

Re: ozpost shipping module
I am considering switching over the the oz post module but I'm just wondering if there is an easy way to do it as I have a lot of stock.
Is it possible to leave my existing postage setup running while I add all of the dimensions for my stock or will I need to disable that to have the relevant fields in the listing to show? It is going to take a long time to edit these details!
A friend of mine has this module and she said that when you create a listing and duplicate it the dimensions don't copy. Is there a way to have them duplicate with the product too? I do this A LOT as I have a lot of stock that is the same except for the colour or picture (eg. paint... different names, colours and pictures but overall everything is the same)

What makes you think that there is an easy way AND a hard way? :smartalec:

Sure.
Just as with most other modules you can run as many (or as few) as you like.

In order to get the dimension fields to show you'll need to install the ozpost module. They remain intact even if/when you disable or uninstall the module.
Whether you choose to run the ozpost module (for actual quotes) alongside your existing module, or whether you wish to run one or the other seperately is a matter of personal choice.
The ozpost module will provide quotes based on weight alone, but without the dimensional data it cannot determine the difference between letter and parcel rates, nor can it determine whether pre-paid satchels are a viable option. Also, if your items are subjected to the Australia Post "cubing rules" then those items will end up being underquoted.
In short, the dimensional data is mainly used for categorisation rather than being necessary.

Yes, I guess this is possible, but it is outside of the realms of the requirements for a shipping module. It probably isn't going to be *difficult* to do either, Theory dictates that it is just a matter of identifying which of the many zencart files is responsible for product duplications and modifying the code to include the additional fields.

Almost any reasonable web developer with a little php experience should be able to modify your code to help with this. It wouldn't surprise me if someone hasn't already done it themselves already. If so, they may even speak up and give you specific instructions (one can hope).

Re: ozpost shipping module
I have finally gotten this module to work
The problem I am having now though is, the measurements for the products do not "copy" when i duplicate a product.
The weight will duplicate over but the measurements will not.

Is this supposed to be like this or is there an error somewhere.... or better yet (wishful thinking on my part) - is there code or a setting I need to add/fix to get this to work.
Kind Regards

Please see my reply immediately before this one (last couple of paragraphs).

How would this be done though? (which files etc) I am only just learning PHP / Zen Cart etc.

If I knew the answers to these questions I would almost certainly be able to tell you exactly what to change and where.
Identifying the correct file(s) to change is the 'hard' part of this exercise (As I suggested earlier, this isn't going to be a difficult thing to do, it is more a mattter of finding the time to look).
Anyone with even the minimum of PHP experience should be able to identify the file(s) and make the required changes, without any assistance, as long as they are happy to spend the 30mins or so that it is going to take.

Re: ozpost shipping module
Hi Rod,
Are you aware of any issues with the Aust Post Servers ?
I am getting an error on the Module,
"Australia Post ( Unexpected error (no valid methods). Using AP Flat Rate.)"

They appear to be working ok for me. Logs don't suggest any problems either.

Re: ozpost shipping module
hi Rod,
I'm using Zen Cart version Zen Cart 1.3.8a and have just had your ozpost mod added cApril 2009 and I'm having trouble with it adding correctly. I am able to send 3 kid's books as a large letter and when I estimate a quote on 3 (weight 0.48g) it comes up with the quote for a letter weighing 0-125g. (I've now added $3 handling I think to try and combat it)
My website is
http://thehungrybookshelf.com.au/lit...dition-lgb-48/
and the first few of these LGB's I've added dimensions etc.
I've looked through cpanel but can't find anywhere I can readily fix this.
any help appreciated.
thanks Helen

Set the 'cost on error' values to zero.

I'm a little confused.
3x 0.16g = 0.48g and 0.48g is definitely more than 0g and less than 125g) so exactly what is your problem, or what were you expecting?
[/quote]
Perhaps your weights are off by a factor or so. ie, should be 16gm or 160gm rather than 0.16gm? (all of which seem pretty light for a book).
Cheers

Re: ozpost shipping module
I think I've figured it out - I think it was the gms / kgs that had me confused because in the description page it is kg's, but I had selected gms, and the extra packing it adds was bringing them to over 500g, so I've conquered that by just having it add 2%
thanks!:D
