Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi guys and THANK YOU for Aspona, it ROCKS!
One problem though - a BIG one - truncated image URLs. I'm stuck with Google Base as my only import, as there's no DB access from my clients old shop, but it deals with it well overall.
My main problem
http://www.globalkids.co.uk//assets/...118-0-0-tn.jpg
This is being truncated on import to
http://www.globalkids.co.uk//assets/...roduct-1118-0-
Even when manually updated, it is still truncated, breaking all image importing. Any ideas whats going on here?
-----------------------------------------------------
On the plus
I've just got 1200 users in with a bit of patience...mainly down to bad address entry from previous cart. Also - I couldn't see 'address line 2' in import options either which hurt, but no biggie.
Wish
it would be nice to autofill gender, as this took the most time - but not as long as it would have taken without Aspona's help! Some sort of column fill would be good. Also the shop is primarily female, and the default option is male! Typical. 1200 clicks to 3600 :frusty:
Also merging columns would have helped, ie allowing 2 columns to be named the same. This would have dealt with my address problems. Just observations mainly - amazing product!!

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Just a quick update - I fixed it - and its a Zen Cart issue, not an Apsera issue, sorry guys!
What I did, for the record:
- Log in to PHPMyAdmin
- Locate the Products table and click the structure view
- Change products_image field from VARCHAR(64) to VARCHAR(128)
Simple!

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
WE have all the product prices including taxes. Can we set apsona to understand that the price has already taxes in it and it would count the tax free net amount based on the tax % given? This is how it works with the EP module, so probably there is a solution for the Apsona as well but hasn't seen how to set it up.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I have imported products using Apsona and it works great except for one thing. All of the imported products included the Metatags price status as 1 (yes), but it shows as "It's Free!" on the Meta Title and there is a price for each product. I can Edit/Preview/Update to fix this for each product, but that defeats the purpose of importing a list of products. Does anyone have a quick way to fix this issue?

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I have quantity order discounts installed. In the reports, the tax is wrong. Is there a way to display the tax from the zen_orders order_tax table instead of having Apsona calculate it?
Also, is it possible to display shipping cost in the report?

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Does anyone know how to add CUSTOM fields to the product import columns of Apsona?
I have added 2 new fields (products_condition and products_origin) but they do not show when importing so I cannot populate them via Apsona. They work front and backend perfectly, but Apsona doesn't see it.
I desperately need to import all fields from my clients database...what do I need to modify?
Thanks.

SOLVED!
These fields were created in a new table, products_extra_stuff - the trick is to dupe the columns over to the table 'products', if only for import purposes, then move the columns manually after import for minimal fuss.
I should have known - Apsona AUTOMAGICALLY adds ANY new column created in 'products' to the import options with no extra work.
WOW. Pukka.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I can't seem to find it...
I want to download all current (pending) orders in csv format, so I can pull them into a spreadsheet which we're currently using for our other selling platforms (ebay, amazon etc) to generate packing lists, daily order reports, address labels etc.
I've set up a filter in the "orders" menu to do this, but when I download the one thing it doesn't export is details of the products ordered (product name and product model) - I have to do this separately via the "ordered products" menu.
Is there any way of including the product name and product model in the "orders" download?
Many thanks

I have written to Apsona, but they seem not to answer to emails, neither visit this forum thread anymore. Has anybody got a solution for this tax issue or should we just use some other system for ourselves? The pity is that the shopkeeper already studied how to use this system, and thus it is not fun to change it just like that. Anyway, they have their prices listed ready with taxes, so we should really input the prices straight like that.

Unusual, I have always had excellent support from them.
Product prices are natively stored in the database as without tax, to four decimal places.
So a direct import of prices would logically be tax-free also.
Why don't you just create an extra column in your spreadsheet with the calculated price-tax and call it price?

It works, if you change the file apsona_app_tools_dhtml.php under extra boxes like this:
<?php
$za_contents[] = array('text' => "Apsona ShopAdmin", 'link' => zen_href_link(FILENAME_APSONA_SHOPADMIN, '', 'NONSSL'));
?>
Note:
the whole file have only this text, nothing else and the Apsona will open straight without a pop up function but you can handle that with your short cut keys when clicking the link that you get it open in another tab or window if you wish.
You need to also set up the permissions in Admin profiles to allow the link to be visible.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin and Admin Profiles Mod
Hello
I've been searching for an answer and have not been able to find it so I'm posting it with the hopes of getting pointed in the right direction:
I used Apsona to create categories, manufacturers etc. which was easy and very intuitive. The trouble started when I uploaded the first import. I tried a few products and it worked fine. Then I used a CSV for 7000 products. Apsona only imported about 6300 products and also created double categories for a few top level categories. I'm not sure what I did wrong - but if anyone else had a problem with Apsona creating two records of the same categories and sub categories, please share how you solved it. the test site can be seen at kinkykupid.com / zencart. Please note: this is a adult novelty site/test site and may offend some folks.
The test site is on ZC 1.5

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin and Admin Profiles Mod
Hey kman55,
I'm not seeing doubles. I did only look at a few categories, and I didn't blush LOL
If you could tell me which ocategories you are having a problem with, I'll look again.
My store has over 7,000 products & I don't run into too many issues with Apsona ShopAdmin
The first upload of your products is always the one that will cause you a headache.
I can take a guess at what the issue may be:
Are you listing some of your products in two or more categories?
Like product A, a "25w light-bulb" is in Category B "lighting" and Category C "light-bulbs" ?
That will cause a HUGE headache if your spreadsheet doesn't have the categories properly formatted.
Here is how it has to be on your spreadsheet:
Master category is the MAIN category for your product. A product can have only ONE Master category.
Category is where you'll again list the Master category, but also list any other categories you want that product to be in.
I attached a photo example from my spread sheet so you can see what I am talking about. (Visuals help greatly! LOL )
( I run a Pagan store, so I hope YOU aren't offended :D )
Do you see how my first product has 2 categories listed, and ONE Master Category?
The two "categories" listed must be within the same cell, but on different lines.
And you must use the following format for categories:
Top category, colon, space, sub-category.
Categories and sub categories must be separated by a colon, then space.
Like this:
Jewelry: Pendants & Charms
Jewelry: Pentagrams/Pentacles
Hope this is what you were looking for & I didn't confuse you more than you already were.
If you need more answers, I'll do my best to help.
Good Luck,
Kathleen

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi everyone,
I've been having issues importing products through Apsona. Some days I can import 1000 products, other days I can't import any. I receive these error messages:
The server is not responding..
System progress bar is not responding, see if other component is using it..
I use Google chrome. I have tried in Firefox with no luck either. I have contacted Apsona and haven't heard back. Some people say it is a server issue on my host's side, some say it's a timeout issue. I currently have about 6000 products on my site. I have imported products correctly. I use a shared hosting plan. I have contacted my web host but they don't see anything wrong. Do you think it's because I have a shared plan and require more processor usage? Do you think it's my ISP? Does my web host just suck with Apsona? Would Apsona work better with a dedicated server? or even semi-dedicated? I just don't want to dump a bunch of money on a dedicated server and then find out Apsona still won't work.
Does anyone know a good web hosting company who works well with Apsona?
Many thanks,
Carrie

I have over 10,000 skus on my site and have not had that problem. I don't import many products any more, but I do update pricing on all of my products weekly.
I use GoDaddy and have been pleased. I know that there are cheaper sites, but their customer service is excellent. You can even find people there who know zencart.

Thanks for replying so quickly!
Would spending the extra money and buying a dedicated or semi-dedicated solve my Apsona problems? Or can I go with the regular web hosting Ultimate package and have no issues using Apsona?

Suggest you test your site on a faster host. A real test would give you more accurate information than hundreds of varying opinions.

Who in your opinion is a "faster host".........? :p
I see your point, but I would much rather hear other people's opinions before spending more money (guaranteed or not) and time "testing" on numerous sites. I have switched hosts before and would like some input or direction before I switch again.
I'm sure there is someone out there who has had similar experiences and can point me in a good direction.
If not more opinions on a web hosting company in particular, how about opinions on what I should look for in a host..? Such as CPU access, bandwith, disk space, limits, and pretty much the minimum on anything that would affect Apsona. My host has said that Apsona may be timing out because the process is taking too long. So what should I look for in a new host so that this does not happen?
I'm sorry if I'm annoying, I'm new to web hosting and all that... I just don't want to dump more money and get screwed :/

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi,
I would need to upload in a bulk way some credit for the customers using gift cards. We're doing that straight to the database now but would be great to use Apsona for that. We would need only a csv with the table "coupon_gv_customer" with the fields "customer id" and "amount".
Thanks for replying!

What is the situation of this one? Price Sorter information gets exported and imported but doesn't show the special prices in the shop (unless manually imposed from the admin).
With the Easy Populate you can do this very easily though, so is there a problem with this here or...?

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I love Apsona ShopAdmin! It is really handy for importing. I am having one problem though and I hope someone can help out. From what I have tested so far, it seems that I can't change my product name and if I do it will create a new entry instead of updating?
Let's say, the original product is called "A"
I want to call it "A small" and since I have to take out "Product ID" (or else it won't import) it will create a new entry called "A small" instead of updating my "A"
So my conclusion from this is that I can probably update descriptions/prices and such as long as the Name is the same right? If I change the name, then it adds new item instead of updating it.

Quote:

eh? Thats not right. You can change absolutely everything about a product and import it but it has to reference something on the import to identify the record. That can be ID, name or model.
Sounds like you are choosing "import new records" instead of "update existing records".

Hi Robin,
You may have already solved this by now!!
I believe the error is telling you that you haven't created these products_options_values in Zen Cart yet. You need to create these colour combinations in Zen first and then you can import your file to apply them to your specific products_models.

Actually, I have not solved it yet.
I do have these options created in Zen Cart already.
Do I need to use the option ID # instead of the names?
Thanks

Are some of your option values being accepted and others are not or are they all being rejected?
Are you typing these values in your spreadsheet or are you exporting them from Apsona and then adapting them for your products?
You'll want to compare the option values in your spreadsheet to your Zen Cart option values. If they're not identical they won't be found during validation. Even an extra space in the value would mean it wouldn't be recognized.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin install does not work
I've just tried to install this on v1.5 with the original files and the update for 1.5 but when I try to access my Apsona ShopAdmin through my zencart admin it just takes me to the 404 page.
I'm not sure what I've done wrong but all the files seem to be in the right place. I also get the link under tools to the Apsona ShopAdmin page.
The configure.php in the admin doesn't have any trailing slashes where there should be and I tried setting up a new admin profile with privileges for this but it doesn't make a difference.
Any ideas?

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin install does not work
Don't worry, I deleted all the files and installed them again, seems to be working now

Apsona ShopAdmin Server
Hello Everyone,
I started using Apsona recently (Great mod guys!) and have noticed that sometimes when attempting to import changes to the database via Apsona it gets stuck on 'working' or is extremely slow to process anything. Is this a common problem with the interaction with the Apsona server or would it be something on my end? I was wondering if there are peak periods on their server I should avoid.
Side question......What is Apsona's business model? They don't seem to sell anything. We all sell something don't we?
Any comments are appreciated thank you.
-
Re: Apsona ShopAdmin Server

It doesn't work like that. When you first load up, the latest version of their code, or rather your version of the code if they have done any customisations for you, is downloaded to your machine.
Thereafter any problems you are having are on your side, your transactions don't pass through their servers.
Business model...good question, I think they do custom work.

I'm wondering if the silence means that Apsona people are not able to make the DISCOUNTS working at all. I'm also wondering how it was working with EasyPopulate then. There is no problem with that one. It is just that if you use Apsona to load the products, you should be putting the discounts at the same time since those are in the same spreadsheet.

Done a bit searching a solution for this Specials / Discount price problem:
1) specials_id: a check which id number is going and reserving a next one
2) products_id: Special prices are based on the products_id, so it can be saved based on that or recommended is to search what is the products_id for a certain model number
3) finally just giving the specials_new_products_price and put the status on (1)
This requires of course some coding but this should be easily done anyhow.
The problem with Apsona is that the crucial code is hosted elsewhere and community can't participate on this. Above my 20 cents as contibution for the development.
There are shops that are based on the fact that the products have a good specials / discounts and that renders the whole Apsona useless if these can't be input functionally.
-
Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I tested Apsona a year or so ago, didn't figure it out but intend to take another look.
Anyway, even if Apsona lacks in some areas, can't you do discounts via Easy Populate, that is, upload specials prices with Easy Populate? Can't Apsona and Easy Populate work together where one is a little better at something? That and the regular Zencart admin.
-
Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Apsona is not a hosted solution.. ALL of the code is run locally on your site..

Of course..they are only different transfer methods to manipulate data.
I understand also that despite the Apsona core code being downloaded from their servers on each use, it can be customised per account/client.
I am surprised that they have not responded, I had a lot of contact with them in their early days resolving language-dependent issues and found them very keen to resolve any problems.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Steve - Sorry that our responses have been spotty lately. We have been completely swamped with work. We took on another project outside the shopping-cart domain, thinking that it would broaden our reach, and it has ended up consuming all our resources and stretching us very thin. We hope to get back to a more active role here soon!
Regards.

The most common reasons for this are that the products have not been uploaded as enabled, or that they don't have an associated category.
-
Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Just to repeat the same thing, when you are adding a new product, it needs a master category and a category column defined in the csv.
The master category has to exist in the category column for each language you upload (in that language).
It would be a good idea to add an error check for this condition on new product uploads.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi,
Love my Apsona ! Been using it for several years.
But, I am having an issue today I've never experienced before.
Using my usual, properly formatted spreadsheet, I am uploading New Products.
All the column headers are correct, but for some reason the Model numbers will not upload. The Model number for these new products will not show in Apsona, nor Zen-Cart. I even deleted the products I had uploaded and re-uploaded them, double checking that the Model column was showing and correct.
I have images of the process if you would like to see them, step 1 - 3.
Could you check into this for me?
Thanks!
Kathleen

Scratch my previous post/question. Along with having Apsona issues, I was having a template issue, but ONLY in Chrome.
I just got a Chrome update from 19.0.1084.56 m to 21.0.1180.60 m and all is well again.
So sorry for the confusion !

Okay, I do verify that I have a Master Category listed as DRYER, then my sub categories are listed like this DRYER: Thermostats. How do I ensure they are uploaded as enabled - is that a seperate step I am missing?
It is so weird because I uploaded the file and I could see all the products on the Aspona side - correct Master Category, sub and they were checked as enabled - but nothing on the zencart or website., so i uploaded the exact same file again and then I could see it in the zencart side and on my website. It so weird that it works sometimes and not others. It has happed a few times to me. I am using the import new products with the option to update any duplicate files it comes across
By the way, I apsolutely love your program and I hope I can figure out what I need to do to use it correctly everytime. Thank you!

Master Category listed as DRYER, then my sub categories are listed like this DRYER: Thermostats.
Create a product manually through the admin, then export the csv.
Look at the contents of these columns.
If the product is listed in DRYER: Thermostats and its the only category it is in, its master category will also be DRYER: Thermostats.
If its listed in multiple categories, one of those will be duplicated in master category.

I guess I didnt explain that very well. My master category is DRYER, and the sub category inside that is Thermostats. So when I upload I have master category listed as DRYER and the category listed as DRYER: Thermostats so the parts will go into the sub category. I did fix the 'enabled' issue. Turns out I just have add a row called enabled and have them all '1' and that makes enabled yes. Thank you very much for your excellent and fast support. I think my problem was that for new products I was telling it to enable and thats why it didnt' always work. Thanks!

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi, we're using Apsona on 1.3.9h. We'd like to be able export the subtotal and shipping cost data with the rest of the ORDER data but it isn't a selectable option in the export tool. When viewing an individual order, you can find those amounts in a tab called "order totals" - displayed as ot_subtotal and ot_shipping.
Anyone know if there's anyway to get those totals to be a selectable check box when you select tools>>export?
Thanks,
Andy
(I do see that "add +" button that says" add total order to this order". Clicking opens an addition form which I don't really understand. I haven't been able to find any documentation on it.)

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Very happy with the module, the 1.3.8a works like a charm and saved me hours! The only problem I had was doing a full search as you need a dedicated server, to perform it in thousands of products, but if you just filter data, it works like a cinch! Is fast and reliable. Now I am looking to get a new version for my new store, which is using zc 1.5, but so far I was not able to find it under admin tools ... was it moved somewhere else?
-
Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
You'll have to install the original version of Apsona that you have, first.
This page on their website explains how to install the update for 1.5 on top of the original Apsona install, along with a link to download the update: Apsona 1.5 update.
Also, with the update to 1.5 there isn't a link in the admin section of your store to access Apsona anymore. You'll have to create a bookmark to the page & save it to access it.
Your bookmark will be the following: http:// YOURWEBSITE.com /YOUR ADMIN FOLDER/apsona_index.php#home/dashboard
(If you're not already logged in to your admin area, the sign-in page will pop up & you'll have to log in to access Apsona.)
Hope this helps you out :)

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I love Apsona Shop Admin. Great reporting tools and easy category management!
I wish there was a link/button to return to the normal Zen Cart admin though. Maybe this could be implemented fairly easily?

I did this to get Apsona to open in a new browser window:
in admin/includes/header_navigation.php
change
PHP Code:
<ul>
<?php foreach ($pages as $page) { ?>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link($page['file'], $page['params']) ?>"><?php echo $page['name'] ?></a></li>
<?php } ?>
</ul>
to
PHP Code:
<ul>
<?php foreach ($pages as $page) { ?>
<?php if ($page['file']=='apsona_index') { //hack to open Apsona in a new browser window?>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link($page['file'], $page['params']) ?>" target="_blank"><?php echo $page['name'] ?></a></li>
<?php } else { ?>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link($page['file'], $page['params']) ?>"><?php echo $page['name'] ?></a></li>

Hi, i can rum apsona on my local site, so i reuploaded the files to my server, but no joy. I have asked the tech support guys from my hosting company to look into it. About 6 sweeks a go the port me to a different server, and everything went ########-up, so they moved me back, I think? The new tabs say" apsona shopadmin 1.07.1 for zen cart" and gives a blank page. Any thoughts?

I have to remove the https also to access the aspona shopadmin. It doesn't open in another window either (but never has) It is annoying that I have to disable the https in order to get access. This all started for me when I put the SSL on my website

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi, wwrepair, this never used to be so, it only started to happen to me recently. But strangely enough, the tech guys for the hosting company i used don't have to remove the s from the https. I have asked them to check the SSL, as i think the problem lies there.
I will let you know how i get on. Anyone else having this issue?

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I am using ZenCart 1.5 and I have the add on module "Short Description" installed that adds a short product description in addition to the original product description. How can I get Aspona to use this field also with the import/export feature? Can it be added?
-
Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Got it successfully installed on OpenCart v1.5.4 in about 30 seconds. Really great module, thank you so much!
On page 35 of this thread, one user asked about product XML feed and live update, in which case Apsona replied that it may be something provided later on down the road. I just wanted to reaffirm that need and request.
Do you have anything in the works Apsona? Thank you very much again!

Yeah, is there away I can run a cron job so I can update the feed that was givin from my product provider automatically?
Also, how do I change the fields to match my providers CSV file fields when uploaded in my store?
Should I be using this plugin? Or is their another plugin that's fits best for what im trying to accomplish?
Please Let me know.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Is this plugin not good to use because it doesn't have the feature I'm asking about??
It seems to work great with my store but I just want to add custom fields from my product provides CSV, and; have automatic update every 5 minutes. Is that to difficult? Can someone guild me?
Im waiting on a response.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
Hi all,
I'm using Zencart v1.5.1 with Inmotion hosting. Also using Firefox v16.0.2.
Got this app installed OK, but when I click on the Apsona Shopadmin link under Tools, all I get is a spinning circle...sort of like a flash video trying to load. That's all that happens. I don't get any errors...it just sits with the spinning circle.
I've looked at file permissions, etc., but nothing appears to be wrong.
Any ideas as to what I might look at?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you might of installed the plugin wrong.
Did you double check the folder paths?

Hi selcyis,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I checked the paths/files 3 times...also set the 'write' permissions on the .php files (suggested on Apsona's site).
Maybe it's a problem with my hosting...?

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
No sure if the hosting company would have anything to do with this. You should start completely over with the installation and see if happens again.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
OK...removed and reinstalled with the same result...a spinning circle.
I did notice, however, that in my database, the 2 new tables created have no "zen_" prefix like the rest of the tables. So...I renamed the 2 new tables (added the "zen_" prefix to them) and tried again...same stinking problem.
Anybody have any clues?

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin - a free tool for import/mass update/reporting
I love Apsona Shopadmin and I use it for everything, but now I need to do a very specific search of users and I can't seem to figure out how to do it.
I want to send a special offer only to customers who DID NOT already buy product A OR product B (or both)
It feels like I've tried all combinations of filters already. When I extract users who DID buy product x I go to Ordered Products / Reports, then as filter terms I add "Product ID equal to x", but if I try "Product ID NOT equal to x" the user's turns up anyways, even when the same order contained that exact product. Really anoying.
Has anyone else managed to get this to work?
Truly greatful for help
Best regards
Peter

Hello, I am pleased with Aspona as far as my mass uploads to my website. I have run into an issue though. How do I get the product url and the image url to export? Re: Apsona ShopAdmin install does not work
This is off topic but I noticed a post further back (can't find it now) that was having the same problem as me. Apsona would load with only the header at the top and nothing else no content. Even the install FAQ's couldn't help it. What I found after tracing the error log was an undefined index error cause from the Admin config file. This is most likely to do with me running a server off my home computer so I commented the admin config section defining the admin folder temporarily and defined manually like the older versions of Zencart. Now it works! So if anyone has any problems similar give that a shot especially if running off something like Easyphp. Anyways just thought I'd add that for someone in case they can use the info. Took me a whole day to figure this one out.

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin install does not work
I am trying to export all my products, and ALL fields, to a csv, no matter what, I got the dreaded 'We are sorry but the page you requested is no longer available, it has been moved or deleted' error, which means it run out of time or memory or something I really don't know the fact is not writing product.csv, as this is the name Apsona Shop Admin gives to the csv, I am on a VPS therefore I configured max input time to -1 (infinite) max execution time to 360000 and the memory for php.ini is 2048M, so where can be a problem? Apsona creates all kinds of smaller files but with a really huge one, it's not working, so what configuration is recommended in this case?

You may need to break it up by doing seperate exports and only selecting some of the fields and joining them later. Check your cache log and make sure it is actually timing out too. I had 16k priducts and had no problems but also exported using php myadmin.
-
Re: Apsona ShopAdmin install does not work
The products and images follow standard naming conventions and you can make your own using the product id and image location. I've been able to do it if it is needed.

Are you on a shared host? I am talking about a VPS it should be a way to do it ... Without splitting the files ...
-
Re: Apsona ShopAdmin install does not work
I dont see how a virtual instance would make any difference. The max memory setting could be an issue try using phpmyadmin and export the products table. In my case the products table was the largest with the product descriptions taking the most space. Apsona will only pull from one table at a time from what I can remember so I guess I dont understand why a complete export would not work through phpmyadmin. Now importing is completely different but at least it would be a start. The only issues I could remember having had to do with uploads not downloads.

With my VPS (2GB), I have to split all exports into 5k product 'chunks' via a loop.
Not only does execution time come into play, but memory exhaustion as well.
I stopped using Apsona as it doesn't seem to handle 75k products very well.

Apsona with php 5.4.7
Hi,
using Apsona on a local Xampp install I have found that
it works on xamp 1.80 using php 5.4.4

No error log messages of use.

Re: Apsona with php 5.4.7
I am using Apsona with Zecart 1.5.0 and am running in to a couple problems. First, how do you use Apsona to update inventory lists across a category? A mass change is easy enough, but I if I have 50 different products in a category, and want to update them all to reflect their individual quanitity in stock, how do I do this? I thought I could just update the number on my spreadsheet, import the csv file and create/update, but that seems to remove the file from the storefront, but it's still in my database, I just can't see it. This is evident because Apsona gives me a warning that the data is already in the database when I try to reload it. I then go back to Zencart, delete the category and everything in it, and all of my associated images disappear from my images folder.
Second, is it possible to make a "Discount" or Special Pricing" column on a csv file to upload via Apsona? If not, is there a way to update the info so the special pricing I make in Zencart doesn't disappear?
I know I'm doing something wrong here. Any help would be most appreciated.

Yes. It should update only the fields you are importing. If it is removing them, it must be either changing the enabled field to 0 or changing the category and/or master category.
Quote:

I don't understand the distinction between these two cases.
An update of any product field is based on the id or unique model number, doesn't matter "where" they are.
Are you saying the group of products you want to update is just those in one particular category?
Quote:

You have have any column you like in the spreadsheet. Apsona will not choke on it: it will just map the columns to field names it recognises, the others you can choose to map from the drop-down selector above the field, or not and they are ignored on the import.
I have an enormous spreadsheet for product control, most of which Apsona import can ignore with no problem.
If you can't map to where you want, contact Apsona, I think they can customise the code you download for you only.

Thank you for the guidance. I exported the data after my last three attempts at updating the data and the Category column returns blank. In other words, I import the data with a Category Column properly assigned and filled out. The data show up in my store. Next I update my CSV file to reflect new Quantity in Stock number, copy the CSV file (including the Category) to the the Apsona Shop Admin Import/Update field, get all the verify all the columns are there and select update. Everything seems to work ok, but all the items in the category I am updating disappears from my store. I export the file using the filter feature and find that everything...including the Enable column is there, and the Category column is there too...but all category name is missing from every line. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Apsona with php 5.4.7
How large a store have people managed to use this with.
I am a fan normally but have had bad experiences recently with two large stores. One for example is like this:
products : 50000
orders : 300000
What happens is that apsona starts but in starting sets running some crazy large queries that ultimately crash the db server. Now this is not a weak little shared hosting server.
anyone run with this kind of load successfully?
-
Re: Apsona with php 5.4.7
@Seajay
For a product to show up in the shop it needs to have a master category assigned to it and also belong to least one category...which should be the master category too.
So an import of a new product needs both those fields to exist.
If your export shows the category column to be blank, then thats the problem.
If you add a new product from the admin, check it shows up in the shop, export it, change one field (stock for example) and import it..does it disappear?

Re: Apsona - "Update All" function not working
Well the problem didn't have anything to do with Apsona. I didn't think it did, but wanted to check with the people in the forum to make sure. The one file I was trying to import was somehow damaged, but I don't know how, or what kind of damage it had. I ended up moving just the data to a new file and that worked.
Thanks,

Re: Apsona ShopAdmin install does not work
I love this mod! I have a lot to learn as I am a newbie to Zen. What I think I can do with this mod, or what I think this mod should be able to do. Is be able to report on a record that was not modified in an update. Such as price did or did not rise in amount and Qty did or did not change. When I check a report of my import for updated records I get every record that went through the upload when some were just overwrites, and had no change.
Does anyone know if this mod will function in such a way. I need a record where other avenues can be modified from this Database. as well as price changes with in it on my own scale not percent. ???? Thanks in advance

Odd admin glitch with newly uploaded products
Hello Everyone,
I've re-posted this here as recommended by some fellow Zen Cart users.
I'm getting some really odd behavior in the Zen Cart admin. I've uploaded a new set of products using Apsona with the spreadsheet created using Open Office in UTF8. When I the view the admin Categories / Product list the product names are there, if I click the "Edit" icon to view the product details the product name is not there it appears blank. If you then click cancel the product name still shows in the Categories / Product list but if you click "Update" without changing a thing the product name disappears. I've checked the database table zen_products_description and the product names are there.
Does anyone have an idea what might cause this?
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

When you imported the new set of products, your csv included columns for master_category and category with the same data in each?
You only use one language?

Hi Steve,
