I have been searching for this answer most of the evening and can't seem to stumble across it (either using wrong search terms, or just flat out overlooking the obvious).. on my site https://jasperandjax.com/storefront I added the facebook share ability and everything with it is working with the exception of not being able to figure out what I need to do to get it to pull the picture up to go with it beings that I am using IH4 so the product doesnt reference the original image file that is uploaded ??
Any ideas on this one?
I am running zen cart version 1.5.1
have lightbox and IH4 installed
when uploading pictures somehow the colors are getting messed around! When i look in the images folder they are fine but when i look in the bmz_cache folder the pictures are different colors...
check them out as links below
www.S E N F I X G L O B A L.com/images/Products/Plastering Tools/Pro Plasterer Trowel_Stainless Steel.jpg is the actual image
www.S E N F I X G L O B A L.com/bmz_cache/3/3a7c2d0b648297f61a2c25c2be6b5896.image.750x488.jpg
As you can see the first image is the correct color blue the second image is totally different color.
What is the deal? I presume it is something to do with IH4:frusty:
Sorry you are correct it was a different product - the image below is the correct one...
www.S E N F I X G L O B A L.com/bmz_cache/9/9793b1f45632b9a5b25ca542b9abb092.image.750x423.jpg
They are both the same picture - nothing to do with lighting etc...
When i upload the image it gets resized etc by IH4 and comes out looking like a Fluorescent blue instead of the real dark blue it actually is...
Any suggestions - i like IH and have never had the issue in the version for 1.3.9h....:no:
We have 2 sites and one database
http://www.hyosungparts.asia/index.p...roducts_id=759 (main site. working. this admin is used to load all the products/images)
http://www.hyosungpartsonline.com.au...roducts_id=759 image handler is not working on this site (this site draws images from above site) i want to direct bmz_cache location to above site
We are using Image Handler 4 for v1.5.x
i changed bmz_io_conf.php
$bmzConf['cachedir'] = 'http://www.hyosungparts.asia/bmz_cache';
$bmzConf['lockdir'] = 'http://www.hyosungparts.asia/bmz_lock';
also removed some 'fallback to original image code' but did not do anything.
Hello,
I am using Zencart 1.5.0, GD 2.0.34, and I successfully installed IH4. After that, I made the changes needed just like in the Configuration part of the "image_handler_readme". All went well, with no errors. But after I changed in Admin-Configuration-Images the "IH resize images" to yes I had a problem with images not displaying in the store Attachment 11390.
I read almost all this thread but I don`t know what I did wrong.
Can you please help me?
Please help. I too have installed the image handler 4 on a new 1.5.1 version, changed the "IH resize image" to yes in the admin/configuration/images area as instructed. I double checked my images and the bmz_cache folders and they are set to 755 permissions. I received all the green "successful install" remarks in my admin after installation. No other plugins installed, using the zen-cart default database installed, so no other additions there either.
So I go to use the feature in the admin/tools/image handler as instructed. The backend seems to work fine with the addition of images, but after loading a few images when I look at the front end, the images don't exist. Not even a blank area. However the additional images from the default install are all there (Bugs Life DVD images) so the zen-cart default additional images feature functions properly. Here is a link to the page that should show an additional image http://www.silverlandbakery.com/150b...&products_id=1.
What could be wrong with my install of the Image Handler on a new zen-cart with no other plugins? Please help. I've searched everywhere. I even uninstalled the whole zen-cart and reinstalled both the cart and plugin 3 times with the same problem of the additional images not showing in front end.
Diva,
I just wanted to let you know that I had the same problem as ksoup getting the images to zoom on hover on a clients site. I wanted to post my solution in case others experience the same issue. In the image settings, admin/configuration/images there is a setting image - use proportional images on products and categories. This was set to zero on my clients site. In looking through your snapshot of the settings in the config tab I noticed that it was set to 1 in your config. As soon as I set that to one on my clients site the zoom on hover started working.
Hello and thank you for this add-on. I've been using an earlier version successfully on another site (older zen version), and have just applied it to a brand new site running Zen 1.50. I'm using the Abiammo-Supremo template, in case that matters, but I think not.
All is well until I edit 'includes/extra_configures/bmz_image_handler_conf.php' and set $ihConf['im_convert'] to '/usr/bin/convert' (verified when I shell in and do a 'which convert').
If that's in place, I don't get any images. Comment it out and replace the value for $ihConf['im_convert'] to '' and all is well.
Clearly this is not tragic, but I'm interested to see if I mucked something up.
Other info on the environment:
OS: CentOS 5.8
WebServer: Apache2
ZenVer: 1.50
PHP Version 5.2.17
ImageMagick Module Version (from phpinfo()): 3.0.1
I've tried with images/ and bmz_cache/ folders chmod'd to 755 and 777 and no change. They're back at 755 now.
Example live URL: http://cprtools.com/index.php?main_p...&products_id=3
At present, $ihConf['im_convert'] is set to '', so the images are visible.
Thanks in advance for any tips/pointers.
Best,
-Ray
PS: Side note, possibly related. I'm not getting any pics on hover either...again, not tragic, but more curious.
Replying to my own question, I've found the answer.
I was digging a bit deeper and shelled in to the system to talk the error log...saw this:
As I'm 'root' on this box, I looked at /usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/imagick.so and lo and behold, it's not executable. chmod'd that to 755 and voia la...all seems to be working (though not the hover stuff...I'll look at that next).Code:PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/imagick.so' - libICE.so.6: failed to map segment from shared object: Cannot allocate memory in Unknown on line 0
This is a cPanel server which leads me to believe that when you enable php imagick after the install, it needs to be manually made executable.
I hope this helps someone else down the line.

I like others (Ksoup) had some problems getting mouse over action to work.
Being a newbie at setting up the site I was scratching my head and reading and adjusting my settings in the belief that I had done everything required.
Ad then your post point (1) came along and the light bulb went on - I felt silly for missing it in the setup.
Thankyou so much.

I'm re-building one of my sites with a fresh 1.5 install and just yesterday I installed IH4:
http://www.promdressesforless.us/
At first my IH didn't work either. But then I remembered two things:
1. Had to turn it on in admin/configuration/images/IH resize images;
2. I ended up having to manually move the various INSTALL files into my respective template folders. I've had to do this before, mostly when switching templates to test. You might take a look at your template files to see if the IH4 files are inside them.
Now IH4 is working and zooms my smallest thumbnails.[/QUOTE]
For some reason the images on my website all vanish when I switch the Image Handler on.... Can anyone help?

Thanks for this great mod! I have installed this on a test cart on my computer (using WampServer) and install went great, can add in the additional photos, etc. The only thing that I cannot get to work is the Mouse Over Hover. I have read and re-read the instructions before posting here, and checked and re-checked my files to insure that all is correct (as I see this being a common problem when reading through this thread.)
When in a Product Description page, it shows the 4 Additional Images that I have added to the product in small image sizes. When I hover my mouse over the image nothing happens, but I can click the small image and it brings up the large image! Image is perfect except no Mouse Over to do this, will only work by clicking the small image. Also, I don't know if it is of any consequence, but under each of the small images are the standard Zen Cart "Larger Image" words.
I know that the Hover has to be "turned on" in the Config->Images and consistent image size settings applied also, but I cannot seem to see where I have gone wrong. Here are the settings in Admin->Config->Images as maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me after looking at it for so long.....

I just downloaded and merged the core files and I am getting ready to upload the image handler 4 to my v1.5.1 store and I followed the instructions very carefully. My question is why are there an image folder and an include folder in the read me folder. http://www.zen-cart.com/images/smilies/huh.gif They look like they're important but there is no mention of them in the installation instructions. Should these be in the installation files???http://www.zen-cart.com/images/smilies/unsure.gif
Just wondering why they're in the read me folder. Any ideas?
Tom R
I have it installed and it works but I have a few questions that I could not find an answer to:
1. It zooms on my category images, and product list pages, can it be shut off. The only place I want a zoom is on the actual product page.
2. It does zoom on my additional images but not the main product picture. Any idea why?
Here is a link

i'm having an issue with this and "fastcgi" on Microsoft-IIS/6.0
I can install the entire module, but installation of the functions_bmz_image_handler.php breaks the front end of site giving this error:

the back end survives, until i try to access the image handler module, and i get the same error.
any suggestions for troubleshooting? i have it working on my 1.3.9h live site (w/ IH3), but cannot get it to work on my 1.5.1 beta (w/ IH4), running on the same server. it also works fine on my local MAMP server i used to set up the 1.5.1.
in case anyone ever uses IH4 with multiple sites using one database on the same server, here is how to make it work
you have site1original.com site2forsomething.com. and you only use site1original.com to add products.
you need to
edit site2forsomething.com/includes/functions/html_output.php
find
second instance of
// alt is added to the img tag even if it is null to prevent browsers from outputting
// the image filename as default
(line 197)
add this directly below it
also need to have this in your site2forsomething.com/includes/configure.phpPHP Code:
if ($_SERVER['HTTPS']== 'on' ){$src="https://www.site1original.com/".$src;} else {$src="http://www.site1original.com/".$src;}
define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/myaccount/locationOfSite1original/');
define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/myaccount/locationOfSite1original/cache');
I am having a problem with the pop up (larger images) not showing up when I click on it to view. It is just in a perpetual loading mode.
I resized my images to be 72 ppi and 300 px wide. So I am pretty sure it is not the size of the images. What else would it be. Any ideas?
Not a clue.. Without something to see, I would be guessing (which is a waste of your time and the time of anyone who might be able to help you).. Posting a direct link to a product where the issue you are having can be seen is VERY helpful.. Some additional details that would be helpful is to provide some information about your image formats and naming conventions used.
http://elsiesfinds.com/boutique/inde...products_id=45
I am using jpg images and there are no spaces in the image files. Well, actually there is in one of the images and not in the other one. It is happening with both so I don't think that is the issue. Both of the image files are size is 395 KB.
This is not an issue with IH4 at all.. this is your lightbox which is not behaving.. You need to post your concerns in the the support thread for the lightbox.. Suggest you re-check your installs of both IH4 and the Lightbox before you do this.. In particular make sure that any files that both light box and IH4 use are correctly implemented..
Hi,
Searched through the thread and only saw one other reference to this error that didn't seem to be resolved.
After uploading the files I go to my admin, click on a link and get the following:
Missing or unreadable file:/home/xxxxxxx/public_html/xxxxxxxx/bmz_cache/.htaccess
Warning Some Image Handler files do not exist. Perhaps you have uploaded them incorrectly? Or the permissions are set incorrectly?
Warning ********** Installation has been aborted. **********
(xxxxxxx inserted for security)
I can't work out what's wrong, the bmz and image folders are set to 0777 on the server?
have you confirmed that the .htaccess file in [webroot]/bmz_cache/ did get uploaded? Some FTP clients will not upload files that have a name starting with a "." in a group upload (others can't even see the file to upload it). If it is there, is it readable by the public?
I bet you're 100% right that it didn't get uploaded, i'm on a mac and for all their good points they do like to hide stuff from you. The .htaccess file isn't there and also doesn't show in the offline folders as OSX is hiding it from me.
I'll turn on the hidden files option in OSX and try again, thanks!
you sir, are a life saver! I've been on 2 hours messing about with that and a quick show hidden files and a drag and drop upload and it works a treat!
The fact that its name starts with a "." means that it is supposed to be hidden from users on UN*X-based systems, like Mac OSX. Some FTP clients will show hidden files, others will not, and sometimes when using command-line tools if you tell them to transfer "all" files, they take that to mean "all but hidden" files...
Glad it worked for you.
Is it possible to set it so that the only images that hover are the product image and additional images on the product information page?
I do not want my category or subcat images to hover.
Hi All,
I have zen cart 1.5.0 with the following modules:-
Admin new Orders
Edit Orders
Add Customers from Admin
Ozpost, excel populate
captcha anti robot
easy populate csv
I installed Image Handler4 yesterday and since the install the website display is being erratic. Sometimes it shows the new products on the home page sometime it doesnt. Sometimes when going to a link it will give a white page with just the categories box in the centre, yet sometimes to goes to the page without any issues. It's like there is an intermittant fault if that makes sense.
This is my website that I am having issues with http://www.spiritconnectionart.com I followed the instructions and I cannot see where it went wrong. If someone could please help me with this I would really appreciate it.
and have you done the following:
- Checked your error logs to see what error messages may be appearing?? (this is the first place you should go ANYTIME you are experiencing issues with blank pages or content not displaying)
- Tried switching templates to see if the same behavior persists?
- Tried turning off Image Handler in the admin and then seeing if the same behavior persists??
As usual Diva has good advice.
Just as a thought. The thing that is causing issues looks like the 'new products' sidebox. I say this because it comes directly after the categories sidebox and has images.
Turn it off. See what happens.
I'd guess that you then have issues with the reviews sidebox. But maybe not.
What this is working towards is that it is possible that one of your images is causing problems. When that one is chosen in the random new products sidebox then the page crashes. when another image is selected there is no problem and the page loads fine. I just put this forward as a possible explanation of why the page loads sometimes but not always.
Just thoughts ....
Using Zen Cart 1.5.1 and IH 4. Want to know if I can safely delete the FOLDERS in the bmz_cache folder. I did apply "clear image cache" under Image Handler/Admin Tools but this does not erase the bmz_cache images. From what I have read it's OK to delete the images in the bmz_cache folders but it would save me time if I can delete the folders all at once. The reason I need to do this is because just got a warning from my ISP that I am violating terms of service and my store be suspended if I don't fix the issue: "the following directories have exceed the maximum 1,024 file/folder count"
"Your xxxnamexxx website currently has an improperly configured directory structure. More specifically, the following directories have exceed the maximum 1,024 file/folder count:
1024 Violating Folders:2025
./html/xxxxxxx/bmz_cache/8
1963 ./html/xxxxxxx/bmz_cache/1
1979 ./html/xxxxxxx/bmz_cache/a
etc, etc,
So I would be deleting folders "1", "a", and about 11 others.
Will folders be automatically added again as needed and is there a way to prevent this from happening again? Can I limit the amount of files in each folder to 1000 and if so how do I do this? Or do I just need to clear out the bmz_cache manually on a weekly basis to be safe? I believe a Cron job can be created to take care of this- haven't ever used Cron before so if someone can provide the info on how to do this and specifically what command to use it would be appreciated.
Thanks, Ed
the files and folders in the bmz_cache folder can be safely deleted and they will be recreated again.. This is the way IH4 works (always has) and you cannot "prevent" this without removing the primary functionality of IH4 (optimizing your product and category images). Sounds like you must have a LOT of product/category images to begin with. You can look at trying to reduce that number (which would in turn reduce the number of cached images crated by IH4) or the real LONG TERM solution for you is to either talk to your host about increasing your hosting limits (better plan) or find a host which doesn't place this kind of limit on your hosting account.
Thanks for the quick response DivaVocals. Already took the safe route and just deleted most of the images in the folders but next time will delete the folders. That will save a lot of time.
Yes have about 2000 products currently and some of them have 5 images each. And a lot of Categories too.
The host is the one that begins with G and ends with Y- this is my first shop and am on a budget. I know some people here dislike them for various reasons but haven't had any problems up until now. The only reason I found out about this issue is because my Disc Space Usage stats started showing up as 0MB Used in their control panel last month, previously had been showing correct info. So had no idea how much space my files were taking up. I contacted support twice with no solutions, then had them escalate the ticket, and today was told the issue was being caused by the bmz_cache folders having more then 1024 files in them. The way they let me know was by sending a violation warning and telling me I would be suspended if I don't fix it, not the best way to handle it in my opinion. My stats still show 0 MB used but hopefully will be corrected soon.
The issue with hosting service is not the overall amount of files but the number of files in each folder. I have heard about this before- remember reading that if you put more than a certain amount of files in each folder this can slow things down. But also think I read somewhere in the Zen Cart forums that you can have as many images as you want in the Image folder and it won't slow things down on the server side.
Does anyone know which is correct? Is the 1024 file/folder limit a real or made up issue? Also any other suggestions on the best way to work around this would be appreciated.
Clearly the 1024 file/folder limit is one GoDaddy imposed upon you, and it's not a made up issue as you can see as you are now dealing with the consequences of this limit..
I realize that you are on a budget, but if your BUSINESS is hosted on an inadequate web host, then you are putting that BUSINESS in jeopardy. There are PLENTY of budget friendly hosting providers out there which will provide you with better hosting services (Blue Host, HostGator among others). If you MUST stay with GoDaddy and you are using their low -end budget plan, then you need to upgrade it. Honestly, THAT is the RIGHT long term solution..
Thanks again for the reply. I only signed up for one year plan with them. From what I have read in the forums getting good web hosting for Zen Cart is a moving target, so a good host might go downhill quickly and I assume it's also possible to get a decent product from some of the hosts that aren't so popular here. This is the first issue I had with them and it's been sorted out reasonably quickly, at least I hope so.
I have heard of the other two hosts you mentioned and am going to look into them.
The interesting thing is I checked the Service Agreement they referenced and don't seem to see anything about the 1024 file/folder limit per folder. There is a lot of text so it's possible I could have missed it though.
I don't know what you "read in the forums" or what you mean by "getting good web hosting for Zen Cart is a moving target". This doesn't ring true to me especially since there are THOUSANDS of Zen Cart stores out there who do not have issues with the configurations of their web site hosting account which would preclude them from using IH4 and it's optimizing/caching features.. Speaking from my own experience, my clients have been in business for 5 years or more and none of them had to change hosts because "getting good web hosting for Zen Cart is a moving target". In fact with the exception of one client -- who only changed hosts because his old webhost was a former friend who forced him to change hosts for PERSONAL reasons-- all of my clients have been with the same webhost for the entire time they have been in business.. they aren't using GoDaddy and they don't have the file/folder limits GoDaddy put on your account.
That said, this line of discussion is off-topic for this support thread, so let me wrap up with this thought. Hosting with a hosting company who has imposed limits which are in opposition to the configuration of your site should be an incentive for you to either upgrade your hosting plan (especially if you are using GoDaddy's "Economy" plan -- which I suspect you are based on your previous posts) or move to a host which will not place restrictions that negatively impact your business.
All I will say is the big name web host companies are all the same and this isn't a shameless plug for mine. If they are on the 1st page of Google they probably suck
I tend to agree... A LOT of people just do not seem to appreciate that when you run a business online, your hosting and technical partners are a CRITICAL element in the success of your business.
Every single second of down-time, or slow performance, or technical glitches, means you are either LOSING money, or not making it in the first place. And think of all the time you can spend trying to get your head around the barriers these cheap hosts put in your pathway.
These "cheap" hosts turn out to be extremely expensive, and can in fact cost you your business.
The biggest boost you can give to your business is to get the site off GoDaddy as soon as possible (right now is a good time), and host with a company who KNOWS eCommerce and who KNOWS how to maximise server performance for these complex and sophisticated CMS platforms. Sadly, the cheap and "popular" hosts are just not up to this task.
As stated this isn't spam or a plug for me. But it's the reason I opened my own. I got tired of being jerked around by the "big boys" so to speak.
I will help anyone I can.
Tech support with the bigger guys is null and void usually as well as they are so "big" your question isn't important since they are so cheap. You find very few web hosts that know web design as well. (I am an exception as many here are). No body can give you unlimited bandwidth or unlimited space, read the terms of service closely. Someone has to pay for it.
I am running a store right now for a client that is using 25-45GB of bandwidth a month and had 0 downtime. (That's my plug for the end of the year).
Happy New Year Zen!!!
Not that the current line of discussion isn't important or relevant, but as I stated previously, a discussion about web hosting is off-topic for this support thread. As such if the OP and anyone else wants to continue this particular discussion, I'd like to respectfully ask that it be moved to a new post as this topic is no longer about support for IH4..
@ You Go Daddy users
Ok this is an unsupported mod here, which may help you Go-Daddy fans
This hasn't been heavily tested so use at your own risK
from line 71 in your
/includes/functions/extra_functions/functions_bmz_io.php
try replacing it with thisPHP Code:
function getCacheName($data, $ext='') {
global $bmzConf;
$md5 = md5($data);
$file = $bmzConf['cachedir'] . '/' . $md5{0} . '/' . $md5.$ext;
io_makeFileDir($file);
return $file;
}
Currently Image Handler uses the first character of the optimised image for the sub directory name in your bmz_cache folder, so you will have 16 sub folders 0-f (hexidecimal), The change above instead take the first 2 characters of the optimised image name giving you 256 subfolders in the bmz_cache, so this should mean less images in each folder.PHP Code:
function getCacheName($data, $ext='') {
global $bmzConf;
$md5 = md5($data);
// $file = $bmzConf['cachedir'] . '/' . $md5{0} . '/' . $md5.$ext;
$file = $bmzConf['cachedir'] . '/' . substr($md5,0,2) . '/' . $md5.$ext;
io_makeFileDir($file);
return $file;
}
And just a note, there is no point trying to take the first 3 chars as that will give you 4096 folders which might kill the hamster that runs Go-Daddy
Yep any users who use the above mod/changes, go here and give you verdict/feedback
Hi,
I have installed image handler and all is working great. I have the zoom on hover working perfectly on the items that I want it to except for the additional images....you still have to click to enlarge as seen here http://www.nitwitcollections.com/sho...oducts_id=1180. As you will see at the bottom of this product page, the zoom works well on the "co-ordinating products" and "also purchased", but not for the additional images just under the main image.
I have uploaded the additional images using the IH Manager and uploaded the _LRG format in the default field as per the Usage Instructions and have this _LRG file placed in the images/large and images folders in my cart. Is there an image size value that I need to change in Admin->Config->Images in order get these to zoom on hover?
Thanks in advance for your response,
Jeff
In working on this once again (once taking a break) I have answered my own question, and now have it working. It was my main image name that was throwing everything off, in that I was using the _LRG image file and name, placed in the images folder. Once I took out the _LRG prefix, it now works perfectly.
I Hope that this may help someone else if they have the same error they have committed!!
Jeff
I got Image Handler installed on ZC 1.5.1 successfully but have run into some inconsistency problems in being able to edit products going either route, via Catalog - Catalog/Products --> clicking on the IH image or Tools --> Image Handler.
Via the second route, Tools --> Image Handler, it displays the full list of categories, but only a dozen product from one category are selectable.
You select Tools --> Image Handler
It shows the 4 options across the top:
Image Manager - Admin Tools - Preview - About/Help
And lists:
* Uninstall Image Handler. (Please backup your site and database first)
* Clear image cache
* Scan for old IH 0.x and 1.x original images
I click on Image Manager
It shows the category selector, then 1 of 12 products; these products are all editable.
If I select 'any' of the other categories, next/previous, etc it loses the category list and products reverting to only showing only the 4 options and 3 bulleted items as noted above.
Also, under the title, "Image Handler 4", you see a message: "No Image Handler information found."
Going the other route through Category/Product, if I click on the image icon with a product it also takes me to the same 4 options and 3 bulleted items but with no categories, products, anything.
Ideas, please???

The image represents what I am seeing with most folders, rather than product where I can edit and add images.
Hi. I've been looking into the far corners of the internet but I can't find any information on how I can arrange the the Medium size images to be where I want them on the product page or if it is even possible. Is there anyway to control their position? Apologies if this has been asked before.
Well, I went back to the package and recopied in the 2 install folders, but this time it worked. What I did wrong the first time around I do not know.
However, I am seeing a second problem, not sure whether it's related to IH, zencart core or the lightbox. I've added some images to products using both regular zencart image uploader and IH. If I go to a product page and click on either the product image or the thumb image under it, it opens a blank lightbox. No image displays, no prev-next, nothing.
What am I looking for?
That fixed the missing items problem, but now I'm see another problem. Before installing ImageHandler once you got to a product page, you would click on an image and it opened up in a lightbox. After installing IH4 if I go to a product page and click on an image all I see is a smallish, blank, white lightbox.

Except for the fact that I did not install LIghtbox. I installed zencart 1.5.1, the theme, and a tax extension and IH4
The lightbox that you are showing in your screen captures is not a default feature of Zen. It is not a feature of IH. So, it must be coming from the theme. In which case this really becomes a theme issue. I am just guessing that it might be a template monster template?
But either way, it does mean that Diva is attempting to fault find why IH is not working with a 'lightbox thingy' that we know nothing about. As a start I would post the name of the theme. But it is likely that with certain themes ( which have changed the default Zen structure ) any further advice is going to be difficult.
and if it is a lightbox that's part of dmitrikoniahin's theme (especially a Template Monstrosity theme) I can't offer any assistance with Template Monstrosity template related issues.. All I can suggest is that he make sure that he's merged any file IH4 has in common with his Template Monstrosity theme.
It's an Entheos theme, # 41772. Thank you thus far. I will take your comments back to their support. Depending on where this goes I know of the/a zencart lightbox extension which can be installed as well. It sounds like this is the lightbox you were originally talking about. Please don't mention template monster - I was compelled to go there once with another CMS - more like template horror.
Hopefully Entheos support can resolve this for you.. though you do know that Entheos is a Template Monstrosity reseller right???

Hello:
I am new to Zen Cart but I have v1.5 uploaded to my server. I have been doing a lot of studying before I jump into this thing. I think I found the template that I want but I was very impressed with Image Handler 2 for v1.3. I think it is very classy the way it enlarges an image. It kind of folds out in front of you. My question is will Image Handler 2 for v1.3 work on v1.5 or should I use Image Handler 4? Will Image Handler 4 do the same neat stuff that 2 does?
Thank you,
Silver
They were not very helpful. I messed with this for several hours again, testing, one piece at a time and figured out that if I installed IH4 and implemented zen_lightbox-v1.6.4 rather than the other lightbox that it worked. Thanks for the pointer regarding the differences in lightboxes. That's something a relatively new person like me would not recognize.
Okay, I've read through and searched through this thread and elsewhere on the 'net with no luck. I'm not an idiot when it comes to Zen-Cart, I've been using it for years, upgraded, wrote some of my own PHP to go along with it. I'm very familiar with how it all works, but I'm having what seems to be an error that I am blind to. I have upgraded from ZC 1.3.8 to ZC 1.5 following the official procedure, and used a comparison tool to apply the custom theme that I designed for the previous version. I've got the site functional with all previous content, products, images, etc., and I began adding back modules, starting with Image Handler. I previously used IH2 with the old site, so if there was any database manipulation by IH2 in the previous store, it's in the database now, though I have made sure there aren't any old IH2 files anywhere. I read through the installation guide, and everything in the very well written and designed read me, followed along, renamed the "YOUR_ADMIN" to what I am currently using successfully to access the admin area, uploaded it all via FTP, clicked another link as directed, and all I get is errors, which I am attaching in a screenshot. It looks as though whatever cursed auto-installer is using to pull the name of the admin folder is wrong, or something, because it is clearly not looking in the right location for the files. I am honestly dumbfounded that I am the only person who has experienced this, so that leads me to believe it's something simple that I'm missing somehow.Attachment 11769
Currently running the following versions:
PHP Version: 5.3.18
MySQL 5.1.66-cll
ZC: 1.5.0
Well, the installer just gets the name of your admin file from DIR_FS_ADMIN. SO it is just using one of the existing Zen conThis is set in the file admin>>includes>>configure.php.
So an error in there is kind of surprising. And certainly not what most users are seeing.
The first thing to do is find out for sure what that constant is set to. It sounds like you have enough php knowledge to insert the following lines somewhere in admin.
<?php
echo DIR_FS_ADMIN;
?>
( Just above the body tag in admin>>index.php will do the job )
Then see what that outputs to the page and let us know.
Yes, I do feel rather dumb...I had looked at that file previously, or so I thought...As it turns out, whenever I did the install of ZC 1.5, and renamed the folder via FTP as directed, it inserted the following into the configure.php file:
define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/xxxxxxx/public_html/admin/');
define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/xxxxxxx/public_html/');
I did not know that it automatically updated that field, and all I was checking was the offline backup of the file that I thought had not changed. I downloaded that file, changed it to this:
define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', realpath(dirname(__FILE__) . '/../') . '/');
define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/xxxxxxx/public_html/');
then tried again with the install, and it worked without problem. How random. I finally found another post somewhere about that file being automatically changed to the same thing for something else, that's why I checked it and found mine had done the same thing.
Thanks!
:smile: Just glad it worked for you.
Hello,
I have Image Handler4 installed on zencart 1.5. I uploaded 3 pictures for a product. Thumbnail shows ok for all 3. but when i go to product view, and click on the picture thumbnail , the first (main) image opens up OK, however the other 2 do not open and give me an X.
I have also tried uploading the pics manually via ftp and used Easy Uploader for image information, but i am having same issue. Please help.
i hope it make sense, or you can also check my URL at http://www.myspecialneeds.ca/books-p...ons-p-213.html and click on all 3 thumbnails.
please help
I also realized, when i take mouse over the first picture, the path is
/images/products/u100-emotions.png
but when i take mouse over 2nd picture ( and same for 3rd) :
/images/large/products/u100-emotions_01_[/url]LRG.png
do u think this is the issue? how can i fix this?
name of images, yes, i agree, but how about path?
but when i take mouse over 2nd picture ( and same for 3rd) :
/images/large/products/u100-emotions_01_LRG.png
Your images are not loaded in the correct locations.. If you review the support thread (or even some of the recent posts in this thread) you will see that it it unnecessary to load your images into the images/large or images/medium folders when using IH4...
Go back to the readme and review both the usage and troubleshooting tabs.. Then upload your images to the correct locations. Even if you do this, you will probably find that you also have an issue because your Template Monstrosity template uses a built in lightbox which is obstructing the images from being properly viewed. (The Template Monstrosity lightbox was JUST discussed in very recent posts in this support thread)
Hey DivaVocals, this is a great mod, never needed to use it until now though, so sorting through a wee issue having and I'm sure it's simple to sort out but:
I'm trying to sort out my product_info pages, specifically the additional images. I want my additional images to be smaller than the value I have set for SMALL_IMAGE_WIDTH (I have my small images on product listing page as 155px, 270px for product_info and then 500px for large, so I need this 4th size for my layout)
Anyway, in the file includes/modules/my_template/additional_images.php I changed:
$thumb_slashes = zen_image(addslashes($base_image), addslashes($products_name), SMALL_IMAGE_WIDTH, SMALL_IMAGE_HEIGHT);
and
$thumb_regular = zen_image($base_image, $products_name, SMALL_IMAGE_WIDTH, SMALL_IMAGE_HEIGHT);
to
$thumb_slashes = zen_image(addslashes($base_image), addslashes($products_name), 80, 80);
and
$thumb_regular = zen_image($base_image, $products_name, 80, 80);
And of course this does the trick of making the image smaller but now the lovely hovering pop-up that image handler added doesn't work. I can't figure out why making that change stops the pop-up from working.
I'm I being stupid? :)
Thanks anyway for a great mod!
Hey there, thanks for the quick reply!
OK I've had a look at the read-me and understand the necessary settings and from what I can see there's no easy way to do this without hacking the code? Is that right? So I'm going to give the code a good read through when I get a couple of hours and try and understand how it works. Hopefully the fix is in php! I haven't much experience with javascript.
Any pointers?
You will need to modify a great deal of the core IH4 code to get the functionality you want working.. I have no pointers to offer as I've never looked at making the kind of modification that you want.. Good luck, and if you feel so inclined, share your solution with the community..
I suspect that if you are competent enough to take that on you might want to think about a work-around.
A couple come to mind but as a first thought ---
It is not so hard to edit the image sizes on the page using javascript. So let the image get written to the page in the correct small image size. Then once the document is ready edit the width and the height. Admittedly you are not maximising the effect of IH as far as page load goes. But is there really that much difference if you load an image that is 125% of what you need and then scale it by 80%? With small images there is not going to be a big difference.
The CSS zoom property is another tempting way to go. It has pretty good cross browser support on modern browsers. Not so great on older browsers.
Just thoughts ...
I'm not sure if this has been reported, but IH4 has an outdated /admin/includes/modules/category_product_listing.php
It appears as though the version in IH4 is from 1.3.9c
There have been many changes to this file since 1.5 it would seem. There are a few security enhancements along with the fact the enable/disable buttons on this page have been changed from a link to a form.
IH4 breaks these buttons in ZC 1.5.1
Simple fix is to update this file with the version from 1.5.1 and then around line 352 make sure this line is in there:
This seems to be the only change this file requires.PHP Code:
<?php echo '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_IMAGE_HANDLER, 'products_filter=' . $products->fields['products_id'] . '¤t_category_id=' . $current_category_id) . '">' . zen_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'icon_image_handler.gif', ICON_IMAGE_HANDLER) . '</a>'; ?>
Hi!
I have integrated a wordpress blog in my zen cart 1.5.0 store. I've installed image handler 4 and some sharing icons.
http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/
IH4 javascript seems to have taken control of the sharing icons. Now when I click them they don't work. Is there a CSS class tag I can add so IH4 will ignore these icons and let them work as normal?
Thank you!
When I go through Firebug to inspect the DOM and the click() action pulls up IH4 javascript instead of the javascript for the sharing plugin.
So yes I believe it does. You can check it yourself at that URL.
I can see you're reluctant to say "this css tag feature is not available." Ok. thanks anyhow!
Why would I be reluctant?? Your issue is just not related to IH4.
Here's the HTML generated by your social media plugin:
Don't see anything in here that is remotely a part of IH4.. Try a different social-media plugin and see if your issue is resolved..HTML Code:<div class="sharedaddy sd-sharing-enabled"><div class="robots-nocontent sd-block sd-social sd-social-icon-text sd-sharing"><h3 class="sd-title">Share this:</h3><div class="sd-content"><ul><li class="share-twitter"><a rel="nofollow" class="share-twitter sd-button share-icon" href="http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/2013/01/chainsaw-wielding-robot-arm-makes-furniture/?share=twitter" target="_blank" title="Click to share on Twitter" id="sharing-twitter-1800"><span>Twitter</span></a></li><li class="share-google-plus-1"><a rel="nofollow" class="share-google-plus-1 sd-button share-icon" href="http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/2013/01/chainsaw-wielding-robot-arm-makes-furniture/?share=google-plus-1" target="_blank" title="Click to share on Google+" id="sharing-google-1800"><span>Google +1</span></a></li><li class="share-reddit"><a rel="nofollow" class="share-reddit sd-button share-icon" href="http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/2013/01/chainsaw-wielding-robot-arm-makes-furniture/?share=reddit" target="_blank" title="Click to share on Reddit"><span>Reddit</span></a></li><li class="share-pinterest"><a rel="nofollow" class="share-pinterest sd-button share-icon" href="http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/2013/01/chainsaw-wielding-robot-arm-makes-furniture/?share=pinterest" target="_blank" title="Click to share on Pinterest"><span>Pinterest</span></a></li><li class="share-email"><a rel="nofollow" class="share-email sd-button share-icon" href="http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/2013/01/chainsaw-wielding-robot-arm-makes-furniture/?share=email" target="_blank" title="Click to email this to a friend"><span>Email</span></a></li><li><a href="#" class="sharing-anchor sd-button share-more"><span>More</span></a></li><li class="share-end"></li></ul><div class="sharing-hidden"><div class="inner" style="display: none;"><ul><li class="share-stumbleupon"><a rel="nofollow" class="share-stumbleupon sd-button share-icon" href="http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/2013/01/chainsaw-wielding-robot-arm-makes-furniture/?share=stumbleupon" target="_blank" title="Click to share on StumbleUpon"><span>StumbleUpon</span></a></li><li class="share-linkedin"><a rel="nofollow" class="share-linkedin sd-button share-icon" href="http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/2013/01/chainsaw-wielding-robot-arm-makes-furniture/?share=linkedin" target="_blank" title="Click to share on LinkedIn" id="sharing-linkedin-1800"><span>LinkedIn</span></a></li><li class="share-end"></li><li class="share-digg"><a rel="nofollow" class="share-digg sd-button share-icon" href="http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/2013/01/chainsaw-wielding-robot-arm-makes-furniture/?share=digg" target="_blank" title="Click to Digg this post"><span>Digg</span></a></li><li class="share-tumblr"><a rel="nofollow" class="share-tumblr sd-button share-icon" href="http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/2013/01/chainsaw-wielding-robot-arm-makes-furniture/?share=tumblr" target="_blank" title="Click to share on Tumblr"><span>Tumblr</span></a></li><li class="share-end"></li><li class="share-facebook"><a rel="nofollow" class="share-facebook sd-button share-icon" href="http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/2013/01/chainsaw-wielding-robot-arm-makes-furniture/?share=facebook" target="_blank" title="Share on Facebook" id="sharing-facebook-1800"><span>Facebook</span></a></li><li class="share-print"><a rel="nofollow" class="share-print sd-button share-icon" href="http://www.marginallyclever.com/blog/2013/01/chainsaw-wielding-robot-arm-makes-furniture/" target="_blank" title="Click to print"><span>Print</span></a></li><li class="share-end"></li><li class="share-end"></li></ul></div></div><div class="sharing-clear"></div></div></div></div></div>
As I said, it's unlikely that the issue is IH4, but an issue with WordPress.. In this case you should look at your "W3 Total Cache" plugin which is minimizing some of your WordPress AND Zen Cart CSS and javascripts.
Perhaps excluding the Zen Cart scripts from caching may solve your issue.. You can also try a different social media plugin.. There are HUNDREDS of them available in the WordPress repository. I'd suggest the one for Add This as it's possible that they will not have the same issue as the scripts and CSS for this plugin are not local and are hosted on Add This site.
For the record, I'm not reluctant to say "this css tag feature is not available.". I'm reluctant to come to the same conclusions that you have because I don't think your conclusion is true.. Many folks have used the same Numinix blog embedding solution and to date NO ONE has reported any issues with IH4. Given the symptoms you are reporting it is MORE likely that the issue is being caused by a WordPress conflict, and I am suggesting that you should start there to resolve this..
Hope you get it all worked out, but I'm positive IH4 is NOT the issue here..
Tried to search but got too many results to go through them all...
Anyway, the problem is that some images are in GIF format. JPG images are resized correctly, but the GIF images aren't resized at all.
Before I go deeper into checking what is wrong, I wanted to ask if IH4 actually supports resizing GIF images, or if there is any known "issues" or "fix" to this.
Greetings IH4 experts, I have a general question about this mod. Will it help reduce the amount of server overhead my site is generating? I'm being pestered by my hosting company to reduce my CPU usage. I am on a VPS. Running my site through various website speed check sites, the biggest thing that keeps popping up negative are my images.
Here's my site if anyone wants to take a peek:
