Oops! Spoke too soon. Switching admin/referrers.php did generate an error-log

No biggie, it still works for now.

Re: DEMO available?: Snap Affiliates v2.0 for v1.5.0 and later
I've just submitted (finally) v4.1.1 of Snap Affiliates for the Zen Cart moderators' review and will post back here when it's available for download.
This release contains the changes associated with the following GitHub issue:
#32: Admin date dropdowns include only the current year.

Re: DEMO available?: Snap Affiliates v2.0 for v1.5.0 and later
Good Morning!
Trying to determine what is the basis for the commissions.
Is it just based on the order total? Other add-ons, discounts, freight, tax
Are gift certificates somewhere excluded.
Items on sale at which pricing?
Thanks,
Dan

The basis for the commission is the order's total-value, less any "excluded" order-total values, e.g. ot_shipping, ot_tax.
There's not (currently) an ability to exclude gift certificates (but I'll add a GitHub change-issue, since it sounds like a "good thing").
If items are on sale, then their on-sale price is part of the order's sub-total ... so it's the sale-price that's used.

Thanks for doing this, Cindy.
An upcoming PR for the affiliates help page will include this mod.

Re: Snap Affiliates v2.0 for v1.5.0 and later
Hi
Just updated our client's version of SNAP affiliates from version 3.0.4 to version 4.1.2. We upgraded ZenCart to 1.5.6 and PHP 7, and appears that things are working except for two issues:
1. In the zen dashboard, Customers=>Referrers are returning all zeros for the Unpaid Total, even though viewing the individual referrers show that they have unpaid commissions:
Attachment 19036
When I log into the front end as someone with a referral account, clicking on My Account => Referral Program => Orders and Payments I am prompted to log in to view my information. I am logged in and can view successfully view the Affiliate Marketing Tools
Looking for any tweaks that I might have to make.

Thanks for those reports, but I'll need just a bit more information. For either condition, are there /logs/myDEBUG*.log files generated? If so, would you post one of the admin ones (obfuscating your admin directory name) and one of the storefront ones?

Hi
I just saw this response - sorry for the delay. There are no logs referencing this error (thousands with PHP large-image-height warnings!) I cleared the logs and visited my referrals page in my dashboard and nothing fired off. And nothing fired off with the customer dashboard either.
I did notice that purchases that have happened since the update are now showing in the summary dashboard. But not all purchases. And when I go into the customer details area, they display. This person, for example, shows $1.34 in the dash, but actually has $11+ total. I understand that I have to click on the date range to show them all in the detail, but before the summary showed all unpaid?

Re: Snap Affiliates v2.0 for v1.5.0 and later
Hi lat9
Thanks for this great addon.
I've upgraded my site from 1.5.6b to 1.5.7 in the early Aug, and this week I noticed there is no new affiliate reocrds since the upgrade. I've upgraded the addon to the latest version and placed a testing order, but didn't see it in the affiliate admin or database (I'm sure the cookie is set).
I've also searched the log files using keyword snap, but no result.
I tried error_log() in the class.snap_order_observer.php file and seems this plugin is loaded but function update() is not triggered.
Do you have any suggestions? Or may I know if there is a way to test if this addon is working?
Thanks
Davis

Did you apply this zc157 patch? It's needed when you've got multiple observers of the same notification.

Re: Snap Affiliates v2.0 for v1.5.0 and later
Hi Lat9! I just noticed a particular issue with my setup, and I am wondering if you can pinpoint what the issue may be.
I have an affiliate who just requested payment. He has no earned commissions in the month of September, so I have to change the date in the Order History dropdown box to reflect all transactions from August 2019 thru August 2020:
https://i.postimg.cc/g2vgzBLZ/screenshot-1293.png
Then, I go up and hit the PAY button, which should take me to a list of all his unpaid transactions. You can see at this point that there is a total to be paid of $401.30:
https://i.postimg.cc/qMrLmx5B/screenshot-1294.png
However, when I hit "Pay", it takes me to a page that doesn't list any commissions. This is what I see:
https://i.postimg.cc/MHSyFzt3/screenshot-1295.png
I'm just trying to determine why it's not listing the unpaid commissions.

Hi Cindy - no logs are generated in the /logs/ folder. And I am using the latest of both. Zencart 1.5.7, and SNAP 4.1.3
-
Re: Snap Affiliates v2.0 for v1.5.0 and later
Thanks, Jeff. I'll get a zc157/SNAP test site together, since zc155f/SNAP seem to be working.

Re: Snap Affiliates v2.0 for v1.5.0 and later
Jeff, when you inspect those older orders via phpMyAdmin, what date(s) are shown for commissions::commissions_paid? Are all the unpaid commissions' commissions_paid dates 0001-01-01 00:00:00?

Re: Snap Affiliates v2.0 for v1.5.0 and later
As a way of testing, I would say to have some unpaid commissions for the month prior (like August 2020) but have ZERO unpaid commissions in this month (September 2020). In other words, no commissions were generated in the current month, but we have unpaid commissions for the month prior.
Change the Order History drop down box to list all orders from August 2020 to August 2020. Then hit the PAY button and see if it doesn't list those orders for payment.
-
Re: Snap Affiliates v2.0 for v1.5.0 and later
Browsing this thread, I am also having issues with Snap Affiliates since moving to ZC1.5.7. I cannot list the orders I want to pay; I have commissioned orders from May 2020 through the end of December 2020, and I can list those, but when I click Pay nothing comes up. I need to settle up with my affiliate and remembering that I've paid those commissions - but am unable to mark them paid - will mess me up the next time I go to pay that affiliate. Is there any work being done on this?

It's not my top priority, but I am working on it! Which variant of zc157 is in use on your site (zc157, zc157a or zc157b)?

ZC157b. Also, my affiliates can't see their total commissions owed any more...so they have to bug me to tell them. And their total doesn't show on the referrer listing page; I have to click in to their referrer account page to pull that data.

Update Snap Affiliates for 1.5x - Version 4.1.3
Twitch update snap affiliates.referrers - add edit button
- Update Snap Affiliates for 1.5x - Version 4.1.3
Adding these two lines will allow typical stock Zen Cart edit/select/return functionality to the referrers.php summary page.
Add line 513 <td class="dataTableHeadingContent"><?php echo TABLE_HEADING_ACTION; ?></td>
Add line 529
<td class="dataTableContent" align="right">
<?php if ($current_selection) { // Twitch update snap affiliates.referrers - add edit button
echo zen_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'icon_arrow_right.gif', '');
} else {
echo '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_REFERRERS, 'referrer=' . $referrer['customers_id'] . ($_GET['page'] > 0 ? '&page=' . $_GET['page'] : ''), 'NONSSL') . '">' . zen_image(DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'icon_info.gif', IMAGE_ICON_INFO) . '</a>'; } ?>

Re: Update Snap Affiliates for 1.5x - Version 4.1.3
Wish List for this module:
Deleted customer/order record as the commission paid should be displayed as commission history for accounting purposes.
Conditions exist that when you delete an order or customer -the data remains in the database- but it is unavailable for view.
This information should also be included in any other accounting reports and made available to the CASL legal record (if Twitch CASL or similar has been installed)
Also, if the summary could be sorted by date added - to ensure the newest affiliate sign up displays first.
-
Re: Update Snap Affiliates for 1.5x - Version 4.1.3
Thanks, @twichtoo, for the suggestions. Hopefully, I'll find time to update this for use with zc157 within the next few weeks.

Re: Update Snap Affiliates for 1.5x - Version 4.1.3
Sounds good thanks.
One more option this module could use:
Allow admin to select any of the active payment modules or an in-store credit (coupons) in the affiliate settings instead of just check/moneyorder or paypal (already an optional setting)

That's going to be a major stretch (the auto-payment) and will probably not be fulfilled. There is, however, a commercial extension to this plugin that allows you to pay via gift certificate.

Re: Update Snap Affiliates for 1.5x - Version 4.1.3
Hi lat9,
I am wondering what happens when a cookie expires? For instance, I want to set it up so the cookie is a one-time use, which seems to be possible with this module. After the sale, the cookie expires.
In this circumstance, what happens if the user click through the affiliate link again? Will a fresh cookie be generated that they can earn commission on again? Or does it not allow for another cookie to be generated once the original one-time cookie expires?
Looking for some clarity... thank you!

Yes, on an additional click-thru on an affiliate's link a new cookie will be generated and they can earn commission again.

Hi lat9, any progress on this? As a reminder, version is ZC157b, and my affiliates also can't see their total commissions owed any more, so they have to ask me. It's getting to be a real problem, and I know you're crazy busy...but help would sure be appreciated.

I've opened a GitHub issue (https://github.com/lat9/snap_affiliates/issues/43) to cover the deleted customers/orders. Note that this won't be addressed in the next release as it requires a fair amount of rework for the data-gathering.
There's no "date added" for an affiliate's sign-up, so there's no means of providing that requested sort.

I've just submitted v4.2.0 of SNAP Affiliates v2.0 for the Zen Cart moderators' review; I'll post back here when it's available for download from https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1635.
This release contains changes associated with the following GitHub issues:
#37: Setting 'samesite' attribute for referrers' cookies.
#38: Correcting a referrer's first-order-date if an order's date_purchased is NULL.
#39: Drop support for Zen Cart versions prior to zc157a, PHP versions prior to 7.0.3.
#40: Don't offer commission pay-out on orders with excluded statuses.
#41: Add 'standard' Zen Cart listing Action column for the admin's referrers listing.
#44: Default a referrer's home-page to use https protocol, add rel="noopener noreferrer" to admin links.

Not initially. What version of PHP and Zen Cart? What template is in use?

1.5.7 is the ZC version, PHP 8.1? At least PHP 8. Not sure of the template.

Thanks for that; I see the issue now when I log into the affiliate customer's account and click on the link for the referrer_main page.
The as-shipped version of SNAP Affiliates does a redirect from referrer_main to the login page if a customer's not yet logged in. Your template's rendering of the referrer_main page is what's displaying that "Please login to access your referral statistics".
Check the file /includes/templates/tc/templates/tpl_referrer_main_default.php and compare it to the as-shipped version of that template, which should be in /includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_referrer_main_default.php.

The problem is that my affiliates are logging in to their account, then they go to their affiliates page, which is absolutely fine. The issue arises, per my private message to you, when they try to go to their payments page. They are sent into an endless loop of being requested to log in when they go to the payments page, and no matter how many times they try to log in, they are sent back to that request for login when they try to go to the payments page.

... and as I mentioned in my previous post, that's due to the current template file that's being used on the site. It's not the "standard" referrer_main page template, it asks that the customer log in to view their order-related information.

So.... Hypothetically.
You're living in San Francisco and drive to San Diego each day to change cars and drive to work in LA?
Some folks think it might be helpful but, I just can't see it in an e-commerce environment. Zen Cart structuring would have to be changed dramatically.
Just lag time for operation would be a definite no for me. Of course, there are a myriad of other reasons as well. I can just see the PCI folks salivating thinking about once again making the big bucks "securing your site."

Re: Update Snap Affiliates for 1.5x - Version 4.1.3
Anyone coming here from JROX JAM:
It appears that JAM is now abandonware - you have to bypass browser protections even to download it because they didn't renew the SSL certificate; the version of PHPMailer that's being used is old and insecure; the help pages no longer work.
So SNAP might be your best plan for moving forward.

Re: Update Snap Affiliates for 1.5x - Version 4.1.3
In Admin > Referrers, I clicked the Home-page Link (main_page=index&referrer=CNWR_....), added an item to my cart and checked out.
Back in admin, I refreshed Referrers and did not see the order in their Orders Total.
What did I do wrong? Enable Storefront Processing is set to true.
Zen Cart 1.5.7d, PHP 7.3, Chrome.

It's been a while since I used/touched that plugin, but I'm pretty sure that there's a configuration setting that indicates the order-status(es) for which an affiliate-related purchase counts towards a referrer's account balance.

Re: Update Snap Affiliates for 1.5x - Version 4.1.3
There's a setting which shows which should be skipped, but not one which shows which should be used. And the skipped column is empty.

- Is there a way I can verify the creation of the cookie on the storefront?

Re: Update Snap Affiliates for 1.5x - Version 4.1.3
Thanks for your guidance. The cookie was there and when I ran an order using the link from My Account > Affiliate Marketing Tools (done in a separate browser so it wouldn't be a self-commission) everything worked ok; I think I had finger trouble or perhaps hadn't turned on Admin > Configuration> Affiliate Program > Enable Storefront Processing yet.
No trouble found! :)
