OK this is a Q? that shows I do not understand anything about this responsive situation...
So NEWBIE question - will this change the appearance of my site on a PC computer? - I have worked hard to get it this way and dont want it to change.

You can apply the DIY responsive template default to your current template (on a test site of course) and then create a custom template that way. But it is a pretty complicated operation since you will have to add a mobile menu and then optimize your site pages for tablets and phones.Quote:

I have read that several folks needed various changes to the Specials Top Bar menu. Since I change the content in the Top Bar menu often, I too needed changes so I have created an enhancement to the Specials Top Bar menu and would like to share! :D
What it does:
Bypasses the hardcoded defines in includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/winchester_responsive/winchester_responsive_defines.php for the Specials Top Bar and adds a Specials Top Bar configuration group to the Admin->Configuration menu where you can
- Change button text
- Change text next to button
- Make the button text a link
- Make the text next to the button a link
- Have links open in new window
- Disable Special Top Bar from showing
I have attached a complete zip package with install instructions. This isn't really a plugin, just an enhancement. If you see any issues or errors, please let me know! :wink2:
Quick Note: This is for Winchester Responsive 1.3. If someone needs it for 1.4, just let me know!

In "westminster_new", the "featured product carousel" offer a "fast in / fast out" effect

I'm sruggling with the Facebook sharing of a product - as soon as I share, it seems to insert Zencart and Winchester responsive text all over the post (see below). I have done everything according to the installation instructions and more, but I cannot seem to figure out why these three things are still appearing in three places (subject, body and footer), can you please point me in the right direction?

Another serious error has come up. When a person tries to check out, and tries to log in, the site returns a serious internal error. I checked the server log and the error message is:
File does not exist: ....includes/templates/winchester_responsive/jscript/jquery-1.4.4.min.js, referer: index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=81&number_of_uploads=0
I loked in the distribution package but there is o such file as jquery-1.4.4min.js either
We are on a live site so would appreciate your urgent reposnse

It would seem to me that the logging in to checkout I reported issue has something to do with SSL for this template as the server error log sees not to be able to find pages beginning with https:// - Is there some setting in the template that I have missed as we never had this iussue with the old template.

Anne, I selected a differnt template, then reselected Winchester Responsive, and now the logging in process works fine. Gosh, not sure why this happened.. Anyway that issue is fixed now.

I have asked my host and our certificates are fine. I then reverted to my old template and it also works fine, so it does defintely seem that there is a problem with logging on to SSL in this template, I cannot think of any other way to try and fix it..

There is no problem using this template with ssl. There are a few places in the template that will need to be changed from http_server to https_server.Quote:

Can you suggest the best way to get the "HOME" button to the top of the pages in the template? I had two customers complain today that they find it difficult to scroll to the bottom of every page just to press the home button... :)

Yes I read the Read Me. The only thing it shows is how to reset the sideboxes. There is no option within admin--tools--layoutboxes controller to switch off the sideboxes at a minimum width that I can see. Its showing the drop down menu for categories and also the full categories and sideboxes the same as a desktop would - just all in one column.

It does some core replacements and I notice that the WR template has core replacements for the same files so I can't install the plug in out of the box I guess...

This is not a problem with the template package. My guess is that you have a captcha plugin installed that have files in the override folder and you have not copied these to the new template override.Quote:

As I view your demo site, it seems that the only pages that are responsive is the top level page. The category, product pages, and checkout page appear the same when view with a mobile device or PC.

I'm using Chrome's Developers utility which allows a page to be viewed as emulated by a number of mobile devices. (Its cool and a time saver)
I might be missing something, but isn't the whole point of a responsive template that it detects and adapts to the device? Why then should a different demo URL be needed for each device?
This template uses the advanced google php mobile detect script to serve up the optimized layout based on detected device. If you are using a desktop but want to view the mobile layout, you need to use the alternate url or you will only see the desktop layout since this is the device being detected. If you go to the main url with your phone, the mobile layout will automatically be served:Quote:

I'm using Google Chromes emulator which surely must be emulating the mobile device with google php mobile detect in mind.
I have tried this emulator with Numinix's template and theirs works.
Also, the top level page of your template works, its only the lower pages mentioned that do not.

My question was sincere. If there is something that I can help you understand, I will certainly try to help you. I don't know any other way to say it other than with the mobile detect, if you want to view the mobile or tablet layout from a desktop, you need to use the alternate urls.
