Hi Zis, I think it would be interesting to take a look at the empty configuration_key rows in your database. Especially if removing the empty configuration_key rows from your configuration table really caused the skipping of orders.Quote:

It appears that many Zen Cart shops have a configuration table entry like this:
This is the offending empty configuration_key that results in a duplicate configuration_key error message (when using the sql patch tool, and under certain circumstances). Normally the 'Installed Modules' key would be MODULE_SHIPPING_INSTALLED, MODULE_ORDER_TOTAL_INSTALLED or MODULE_PAYMENT_INSTALLED. Maybe there are more? No idea how and when the empty key is added to the configuration table. Most shops don't have it.Quote:

Hi everyone,
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have an installation of quick updates that seems to run buggy on my server (odd things not updating and messages of updating products not altered).
When i run exactly the same files locally with the same database i get none of the bugs or odditites, I have looked at lots of things and think it has to be something specific to the hosting environment. Has anyone else had similar issues or could tell me where to start?

I have a bad feeling. A dought came to my mind after understanding, studying for nearly a year now Zen Cart.... have I wasted all this time in to putting all my efforts and believes in Zen Cart?
I have changed 4 providers, I now have my Virtual Private Server but I am always getting the dreaded words from the FF browser "waiting for..." and it waits 10-15-20secs to open the page.
Has anyone the same problem?
Someone said is to do with the external links, ... and I have taken them all the ones I could think of,off.
Any comments anyone?
This is my live site: www.livemk.co.uk on a shared account so when the server is busy is understadebly slow but, should the browser wait for this site to load?

Every time when you click the Update button Quick updates sends two POST arrays: quick_updates_new (contains the form input values the admin may update) and quick_updates_old (from hidden form inputs that hold the original values) and compares their values to determine if anything needs to be updated or not. If you know how, you can compare those arrays to see if their values are correct.

not completely random. say i update 8 product qty's only. 5 will update correctly, on the 6th product another (unchanged and unrelated) field will be updated and the qty changes below that are not saved. The message received at the top also describes what it actually does not what was entered. With no or few product updates it does a similar thing, updating the random unchanged field only.
Like i say it operated fines on my local environment with the same files/db. It's happening on multiple sites on my hosting. I've tried both the latest stable 2.04 and your latest beta and both have the same/similar result. i should also say it has been operating perfectly on my server for the longest time then the bug started which made me wonder what server things could cause it.
I'll check the arrays, but i haven't been bugging with the code or anything to change it.

that sounds really scary :shocking:
Somehow the form data might be scrambled starting at some point (the 6th product), or the quick_updates_new and/or quick_updates_old POST arrays are cut off somehow.
Maybe the post_max_size is very low one that server? (you can check it in your admin at admin/server_info.php). Or your products data consumes a lot of memory memory? The post_max_size usually is 8mb and it's very unlikely that the data of only a couple of your products exceed that value. On the other hand any explanation that I can think of now seems very unlikely :wacko:
If the post_max_size is exceeded a php error should be shown or logged. And I never tried it, but I think it would be a fatal error which halts the script (and no products at all would be updated in that case).
But this does make me think, even if post_max_size appears not to be related in this case, it's probably wise to add some kind of checksum which is verified before the database is updated.
Some other thoughts:
- do you have gzip enabled?
- is your whole admin ssl protected? (not only the login)
- what is your php version? It could be a php bug if it's an unstable version, or maybe the php and zend version on the server are not compatible? (don't ask me details on this, I only know I have had issues with POST arrays once, which where related to incompatibility of the php and zend version).

I just installed the module and am getting this error:
1054 Unknown column 'p.products_price_w' in 'field list'
In my previous install I didn't have a problem with this. Does this module need to have dual pricing module installed to work?

Sorry, I only take a quick look at this thread now and then, but I really have no plans to update or seriously support the 2.x versions. Unless someone pays me to do so, or I get very bored for some reason, maybe :smartalec:.
But everyone is free to fix it of course :smile: In that case lookup all get forms, and ad the zen_hide_session_id() function like in other Zen Cart code.
I would fix any cookie issues with your site too though. As far as I know you won't have a problem with this if the cookies work.
Is it somehow possible to modify Quick Updates so that you can also add products and not just edit existing ones?
I have Quick Updates v2.03 installed on a ZenCart 1.3.8a. I've been using earlier versions of Quick Updates on earlier ZC versions and not had this issue come up:
I recently added a product. It has a long description field of 4 or 5 paragraphs. It has a hyper link in it. When displaying the Quick Updates page, the descriptions only show if you mouse-over the "e" button in the description column. However for this new product, part of the description for this new product is inserted into the quick updates line and pushes the rest of the columns way over to the right. See photo.
After playing around with the text in the description for a while, I found that the only text that got inserted incorrectly into the Quick Updates row was a hyperlink and the text after the hyperlink. The text prior to the hyperlink would show up normally when you do the mouseover the "e" button, and the rest of the text would be inserted into the table displaying the Quick Updates fields, messing it all up.
I've found that wherever I move the hyperlink, the same phenomena occurs. And it always starts with the hyperlink. The mouseover will show the text up to the hyperlink, and the hyperlink and all following text will jam itself into the Quick Updates table.

Hmmm. This sounds a little bit much for me, but it points me in a direction I had looked at. I'm not surprised that the firewall has managed to get involved in this. I use Kaspersky. I'll look into that...

Did you figure out what was causing this issue. I just installed Quick Updates 2.04 and am having the EXACT same issue as you describe and show in your screenshot with the columns.
UPDATE for anyone else with the same problem I had re: being logged out when selecting an option from the manufacturer/category etc. I finally got it working using the above advice (as I'm not a programmer).Quote:

I installed quick updates and what a fantastic module this is because it does save a lot of time with updating bulk items at once.
My question is that I installed quick updates some months back and all is working great and have no problems at all but I then installed another module products_profit_margin_calculator_reportv1.1 which is another good module where you put in your cost price and % margin that you want.
What I was wondering was when quick updates screen comes up it does not show the percentage markup column and if there is a fix for this issue in order to make it work within quick updates so both mods work together in order to update pricing in the future.
Any advice would be great as I love quick updates but really need the profit margin module as we work on % on cost and have several different %'s depending on cost of the item and we adding product on a daily basis so you can see why we need quick updates as well otherwise it would take days to redo the % markup on cost.

I'm beginning to study the quick_updates_2-04 add-on because I need to modify it. I want to see the products_purchase_price and the products_margin for each product, and have the possibility of changing the value one by one product.
I've made some test, and I see that the new field of the products table (products_purchase_price and products_margin) contains alwais 0.000 and not the value that I've used, while the price is really modified.
Can somebody explain me this strange situation?

I have version 2.04 with zen cart 1.38.
I pasted the sql into the intall sql patches.
I put the entire directory in the root of my site where zencart is installed. I do not see an application_top.php fille anywhere.
I can see the Quick updates tan under the configuration area in admin, but that's as far as i can go.
Please guide me to the next step, i have read the forum many times.

I was able to get rid of this error (referring to post 457) by making sure I have my full path ahead of the includes/application.php
I now just get a blank page when i go to (example only) hxxp://www.mysite.com/admin/quick_updates.php - I really need some guidance as the prices of the commodoties I sell change daily and this would be a time saver.
What can I do to get to he next level past this current stumbling block?

I have installed this mod on 5 of my sites and i love it, thank you very much for contributing.
However, on the last site i installed it on i have a very strange problem. No errors on the install, everything appears to be working fine, but the mod will only update the first 8 products.
It doesnt matter how many products you update, it just says 8 products updated. And its only the top 8 on the screen.
If i tried to edit the last product, or even the 9th one down the list, it just doesnt update. If i re arange them so a different 8 products are at the top, it updates them fine, but never more than 8. I cant find out whats wrong and im really confused :blink:
Any ideas anyone?

I have installed version Quick Update 2.05 and can see the 'Quick Updates' in configuration but can not see where to actually launch the software. There is no menu option in either 'Tools' or 'Extras'.
The installation process was error free.

OK this may sound pretty stupid, but I am new to using quick updates.
if I add a +15% it updated the public price offered, however it does not alter the wholesale price, I am sure I am doing something very simple wrong, but have tried several different combination's and nothing seems to work.
I am using the dual pricing mod for the wholesale pricing.
I do not want to alter the retail prices as I use specials for that, what I need is to update the wholesale pricing.
Simply put I want to use easy populate to add all my products, then I will go to quick updates and update the wholesale price so that it has my small markup in it to my wholesale customers.
I tried this combo in the pricing box +0%, +15% and it did not work. I only have retail and wholesale one level each, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
Can someone please give me details as to how I would structure the input to alter the wholesale only?
(I don't use wholesale prices and I currently use a heavily modified version of quick updates, but) If I remember well wholesale prices were added as a quick hack at the time, and I am almost sure you can only edit the wholesale prices one by one by entering the new values. So you can't apply a percentage or add an amount to all displayed wholesale prices in one go.

The problems is that most of those constants are not defined anywhere in the application. So of course they are always going to execute to false. My question is whether anyone has any knowledge of why these if statements are there and do they serve some purpose.
Looks like the sql file is not loaded. By loading the sql file the settings (constants) are added to the database, so that you can configure the setting in your Zen Cart admin panel.
Help! What have I done? (not actually expecting an answer to that one LOL)
I had this installed, worked perfect, beautifully in fact. I love everything about it. Then I had to uninstall another mod (FedEx) and this stops working. I have re-uploaded the files from version 2.03 -2.05 and restored the good backup copy of my database, ran the sql each time and the only thing i ever get is redirected to www.mysite.com/admin/index.php. No updates, no blank page, just kicks me back to start.
The one thing I didn't do was to delete this mod completely and then start over, but why should i? I did check that the files were overwriting. They are.
I have tried running the sql through phpMyadmin and the install sql patches area in the store admin. Nothing. I'm getting very frustrated. Hope someone can help me.
The only thing I can think of is maybe the "good" copy isn't so good? But why would it matter if the sql uninstalls itself before it installs again? Or does it?
I can see it all. I can play with it, pull down the boxes, write in the spaces, select the radio buttons, but when I click "Update", it doesn't.
Okay, I just found out that the copy feature does work. It will copy a product, but then you can't update it unless you go to the normal edit product page to do it.
I also found out there is a security vulnerability in the mod according to Web Developer Toolbar for FF.
I found the answer finally. I had to do with an incomplete security update. I had overwritten the html_output.php file with the non-security updated one, when un-installing one of the mods. I appreciate all the help and quick responses with my problem. Someone could have at least told me to look elsewhere if you didn't know the answer.

I'm really not trying to sound condescending, but are you certain that the category you are selecting is associated with products?
Are any of the products showing up if you don't select a category? They should be. All of the products should be showing if you are in the top category. If not then you are not getting communication with the db. Which means you probably haven't installed the sql file correctly.

I found this in the install instructions but I don't understand what needs to be done..
To make the products_purchase_price and margin feature work "products_purchase_price" (i.e. DECIMAL 15,4) and "products_margin" (i.e. DECIMAL 15,2) need to be added to your products tabel
I would be greatful if someone could help me out a little.

I have just installed Google Chrome and now when I go to Quick Updates the 'Name' field for the product doesn't automatically extend when it is longer than the field like it did with Firefox.
Is there a way to make that field show more characters as default?

I had installed quickupdates in my test shop and loved it. I put it on my real shop and started doing stuff. It's acting weird; when I go to do random things (initially only when trying to do Quick Update stuff, but over the course of the day it happened again and again when, eg, inserting or updating products) ZC will "miss" and suddenly I am 403 forbidden and/or "easy" urls (like main category urls) are "not found"
If I a) clear the cache and only sometimes b) just navigate to another site and back (... nuking my session key?), I can go back and re-login to admin. BUT, I'm afraid my store is unstable and not usable for production. I haven't duplicated the effect using the store as an end user yet, but I'm hoping this is a known issue with a great workaround! :D

@amyleew: is the name field size issue on Chrome already solved? It should not be difficult to increase the size, but I don't know how to do it from the top of my head (problem is that I haven't seen/used the code of the current version for years as I am using, and still working on, my never finishing new beta...)
@fred_tededmondsson: never heard or seen issues like that before with quick updates. And sudden "403 forbidden" issues sound more like a hosting problem to me than something with quick updates or Zen Cart.

I didn't find this issue on the search so I'm going to ask (excuse me if someone mentioned before).
I have someone that needs URGENT to fix all his database (it's a real mess). Categories with products and product with subcategories all messed up and mixed. There are over 40k products in this database. So I thought "hmmm I will install quick updates and my life will be easier".... :smoke:
I should mention that I tried doing it from phpAdmin and didn't work for me. No errors but when I go to admin the products still there.
The problem is that when I go to the list of products (specific category) and it says "Invalid Master Category ID" when I click to select the correct one, the list doesn't show up, it only gives me the category where it is right now. :blink:
Please I need this to work I will go insane doing one by one. Is there a query I can do directly on phpadmin? or is there a fix for this issue?
Quick updates has a switch to "Edit linked Cats" versus "Edit master Cats" (above the products table, at the right). "Edit master Cats" might help to solve the problem.
But I think the best solution is to search for the "Invalid Master Category ID" error message. Zen Cart has a build in tool to fix this problem (which will probably work better/easier than quick updates, especially with so many products).
Yes Paul, that' what I selected from there (Edit master Cats), but doesn't give me the list on the dropdown to change it. It just list the category where it is.
I don't understand the second part of your message... I know the warning is there and I have to move the items. I just don't want to move them 1by1.

One problem I do have with it is the product descriptions stretch right across the screen pushing every field to the right of it, off the screen. Although the fields are visable, it requires a lengthy scroll to the right which results in confusion as to which product is being edited.
Any suggestions how to limit the width of the product description column or remove it entirely.

Probably the quick updates stylesheet isn't loaded. Under Products Description you should only see a green edit button (if hovered the description is shown, and if clicked a popup window appears for editing the description)Quote:

I upgraded to 1.50 and quick updates doesn't show in the admin menus but if I enter the websitename and the path to quick_updates.php it runs and works.
How do I add this to the admin menu in the catalog section.
