Hi BlessIsaacola,
I think the problem may be that you dont need the required text (RED) option selected. Also you can number the order of the values so that "Select a Size" is at the top. EX:
"Selecet a Size" Order=1
"Size 08" Order=2
"Size 09" Order=3
etc...
Good Luck,
Ed
Ed, I did as instructed. Unfortunately, it did not fix my problem. You can still add an item to cart without selecting an attribute. WORSE yet is the fact that even if you select and attribute it doesn't include it in the shopping cart or order confirmation. Any clues?
Here is the link to the product page: http://www.clevershoppers.com/christ-for-l...usso-p-599.html
Here is the link to the attribute setup page:
http://www.clevershoppers.com/attrib.jpg
You need to mark the Select a Size as:
Default
Display Only
Sort Order 0
This prevents the customer from picking the:
Select a Size as an option and they will be told to make a proper selection ...
That did not fix my problem. It still let me add the item to cart without selection and even with selection it doesn't retain the value. If a customer select size 8 for example, it doesn't retain that, so there is no way to know what size they order. This is frustrating.
Thanks!
Are you sure that you have the Select size set to:
Default
Display Only
Note: The Option Name should be set to Dropdown or Radiobutton
I do not know if this is related to whatever mod rewrites you are using or not ...
You could also try a switch to Classic template to see if it works there to know if it is your template ...
Ajeh,
Thanks so much for the tip. The problem was template related and I was able to fix the template. It was a missing </form> that caused the errror. Very interesting.
That will break things ... thanks for the update :)
Hello!
Is there a predefined way to channel back money back from the shop towards the customer in case of a bonus-scheme (--> you get a BONUS in case of purchasing certain products).
Anyone implemented such a scheme?
Please have a look at this example:
http://provitales.frontis.nl/shop/index.ph...&products_id=30
In case you select "Zuzahlungsbefreit" or "Privat", you get a 4 Euro bonus. The price-attribute here is "Krankenversicherung" which means the type of health-insurance you have.
I hope I explained this well. If you have any ideas/suggestions/experiences, please let me know!
Many thanks in advance for your ideas!
Best regards!
want to hear something sad?
i was doing them on my remote host. was getting realy frustrated as to why they wouldn't update when i reloaded the page.
then i noticed that i was editing the ones on the remote host and looking on the one on my localhost. almost idetical databases seeing as i exported the remote one to work on the localhost one.
talk about confusion
Been there ... done that ... got the T-Shirt ... thing I miss most as I grow older is perhaps my mind ...
I have been through all 52 pages of this topic and have gained quite a bit of understanding about a very confusing part of zen cart and I thank you all for your input to my now fried brain...
I'm still confused, however, because although I have a little knowledge now about how I need to set up my options and attributes, there are still a few things I'm not real clear on:
Our site is a custom printing site. All of our products will have choices - all with special quantities and some having a few options and/or attributes, but others having sometimes up to twenty or more to select from...not to mention personalization information the customer will have to enter for their product....for example:
Product #1:
Quantities:
500 = $17.55
1000 = $19.60
Paper Selection (currently have all paper stock entered as seperate attributes with images) - this selection will also change the base price of the quantities above by Fixed Price per quantity, not Percentage.
Vellum = no change in base price
Linen = 500 = $34.05
1000 = $36.05
Ink Color (currently have all ink colors available entered as seperate attributes with images - will not change base price)
Typestyle (currently have all typestyles entered as seperate attributes with images)
Personalization Text = customer will need to enter 6 lines of text for this product
-----------
That's a very simple product - many others have so many options/attributes that it will be a very long product page to say the least ...
Question #1: I'm not sure how to set up the quantities I need for the product and how to set them up to change their base prices depending on the attribute selections made - such as the paper selection? -- This is really confusing me completely as I'm not clear at all on using the factors.
Question #2: Is there a way that Zen Cart can allow a customer to go the intial product page where the customer can make a few option selections, then proceed to a second product page to make the next option selections, then on to the next, etc.?? -- that would be real hand for our products that will have many, many options/attributes and text fields that the customer will have to select from.
Question #3: Our options/attributes are not listing the way we would like them to list on the product page...
Currently they look like this:
Vellum ($17.55)
Linen ($34.05)
<vellum image>
<linen image>
We would like them to list like this:
Vellum ($17.55) <vellum image>
Linen ($34.05) <linen image>
--------------
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated :P
Thanks!
Hi amgdg,
I have worked in printing for about 20 years, I know about your need for attributes, Let me think about this I will get back with you.
I am working on a site for a florist it will also have a lot of attributes you can see some of them here.
FurstFloristOnline
This might give you some Ideas.
Ed
Thanks Ed! ....Any help is much appreciated!
It's good that someone understands what I'll be up against here...not too bad for some products but for others it'll be a challenge for sure..
Thanks again,
Alberta
You can arrage the attribute images in the Attribute Name Controller- choose your attribute then click edit.
Thanks for the reply Kim...
I've looked in the Attribute Controller and can't see anywhere where I can change the layout of the attribute images to list after the attribute text on the product page...
Maybe I'm just missing the obvious here??
Thanks,
Alberta
Click the edit for the Attribute Name, you will go to a second page -You can chose from 5 different layouts.
Thanks Kim...I did finally find it....just what I needed!
Alberta
I'd like to do something similar...like associate quantities with colors...like I have 5 red in stock, 10 black, etc. I currently have them set up as seperate products, but it would be nice if I could show it as the same product with a dropdown to choose the color but still have it keep inventory. Is that possible?Quote:

Not at this time ...
Stock Attributes will be available in a future release ...
I've been reading this for hours and can't find out how to do this....
Is there a way to set it up so that if someone purchases 2 of one product they get 1 free?
Also, is there a way that would also work if they choose a product with an option file.
I have a client who sells specialty soaps, they don't have an option file, just all in the same category. She want to run a sale, that if they buy 3 soaps they get one free. They don't have to be the same fragrance (item #) just from the same category.
I appreciate the help.
Having set attributes up i find the product display page very slow and its making 4000+ qureys. page load times of 15 secounds plus.
please have a look at Triangle Carpets.
I have done all speed tips, Gzip does nothing really on my host.

What version of ZC are you using? I know some of these problems were resolved in 1.2.6/7 - you only have 153 products too!
This is a big worry for me - we've been "attributalising" lots of products over the past week. Hmmm.
Zen Cart 1.2.6
Unless you have some 50-80+ attributes on a given Product, you should not see a time issue despite the number of querries ... unless you are on a server that cannot handle your database or is not optimized for MySQL and php ...
I have taken sites that take 30-60 seconds a page to load that on hosting sites server take 0.5 - 1.5 seconds ... and the server configurations were the same in many cases ...
Optimization is key here ...
Well, I have been reading through the attributes and I am just not getting it.
Here is what I am trying to do.
We have a science fiction convention we will be holding in November. We want to sell weekend admission tickets online along with preferred seating, photo op sessions and various merchandise. I think I get the whole color and size thing but I am not getting how to do text fields.
Basically, if we are selling a weekend ticket, we need to know the badge name for that ticket and the mundane (or real) name for that ticket. BUT, here is my question. First, if the person orders 3 weekend tickets, I need three sets of names. Second, and most importantly, how do I capture these names.
Also, lets say someone orders 3 weekend tickets and 2 preferred seating. I need to know how to tie the preferred seating with a specific ticket.
Is it possible anyone has used ZC for a site similar to what we are attempting? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kim
In reply to Ajeh, page load time down to couple of secounds now.
Our products do have about 35-50 attributes on a given Product
i made the reapeated sql enquires in to array much faster for me now.

Can you let us know how you did this? I'm sure it would benefit a lot of people, especially in shared environments where excess queries result in warnings!
As normal most of ansawers found in fourm Static Var i just changed a few other files but all credit to above as that post showed me the way. B)
Thanks so much for those wonderful instructions!!!!! ::tup
Actually I have one question: is there a way to make the attribute images like only 6 in one row and next to each other instead of all of them in one row down??? I'm sure I can change that in the php file somewhere. Thanks
Peek at the Option Name settings and perhaps edit the Option Name for addtional settings ... :)
Kimhuff,
To address part of your question, I think you need to require the convention tickets to be added to the cart one at a time.
Edit your "ticket" product and change Product Quantity Maximum from 0 to 1. This will remove the customer's option to choose a quantity. In the description, direct customers to fill out a ticket order for each person attending so they will not be confused. Each associated attribute will automatically go to the right ticket. They can add t-shirts etc separately and pay for all together at checkout.
Someone with experience in text field attributes will have to answer the rest. Hope this helps.

Hey!
I've been searching through this thread and the only relevant question I could find was from 2004- so I thought I'd just ask again!
Is there any way to apply inventory to the attributes? For example, I've set up tote bags with different colours but the same design, but I have different numbers of each colour in stock (ie- I have 4 of red, 6 of blue, 3 in yellow, etc). I'd like to not have to remove aoptions by hand once they sell out- anyway to apply inventory amounts to these attributes?
best,
Erin
Unfortunately, not yet.
It is supposed to be planned for "sometime," and now that the major reorganization of v1.3.0 is done, maybe this will move up on the list. Priority might be influenced by demand... We would like this too, although right now our inventory system is too loose to need it. An order comes in - if we don't have it in that size/stone/etc we make it. :)
Glenn
Thanks for the quick answer! At least I can stop trying to figure out how to do it!
Normally I would just make more if an order came in, but I had limited supplies for these ones! I'll have to keep that limitation in mind for next time, and hope that it's an available feature soon.
Well, i think i may be asking a question that hasnt been asked yet [i'm embarassed to say i didnt read all 55 pages of this thread, though i know i should have- sorry!]
i run birthday parties for children, where we play safe foam sword games, and i'm trying to use zen cart to accomplish 'purchasing' those bday parties.
the issue i'm having is that i need attributes to do multiplication off of each other.
there are 3 package levels, which cost x or y amount per hour. but that hourly rate can be changed based on the number of participants.
eg: the basic package is $75 per hour, for 20 participants [it cost an additional $50 per hour for each 10 kids above that].
a parent wants a party for 3 hours, for 40 kids.
(75 + 100) * 3
how do i get the attribute controller to do this for me? the main issue i'm having is that i need to use 'price factor' with an offset of -1 to get it to *add* cost, but i can't get the base price to change according to the package level, so all of the math is based on the lowest priced package [the $75 basic, as opposed to the $125 dollar Full Package or $250 Deluxe Package]
can Zen Cart do this for me? or do i have to make 3 different products for the 3 different package types?

Hi there I'm new here
My store is mainly downloads nd for a couple of products I'd like there to be 2 downloads! Now I can add the 1st file for download in the attributes but when I go to Add the second is comes up wit this
Can you help me please?Code:Duplicate Attribute - Attribute was not added - Download : Windows .zip
One method is to setup a test site with the demo data so you can see how this is done by example ...
In the New v1.2 ... Downloads ... Category where there are examples of single download and multiple downloads ...
I also have several threads posted on how to create Products with single and multiple downloads as well as in the FAQs ...
I looked at adding a download but I can only find for just a singe download! In the FAQ that is!
For multiple Downloads on a Product you might peek at this thread ...

Basically, this whole system is way to confusing and ambiguous, and not visually laid out very well.
Seriously, I've been at this 2 years, and I still have a question.
I need to apply a whole load of new colours to some new products, 25 in all.
I'm having one of my thick moments, 'cos I've searched this forum, read the faq and the wiki, and I've forgotten how to say "apply ALL option names from this one option name to this one product".
Somewhere way back in my head, I recally something about having to move all the products to be "mass attributed" into their own special temporary cat, deal with it, then move them back, but that sounds about as much fun as pulling teeth.
So, can anyone remember this? Thanks!
You could make a Product with the one Option Name and all values ...
Option Names:
Pick the Option Name and the Product to add all values to itCode:Add ALL Option Values to ONE products for Option Name
Update ONE product that has at least ONE Option Value and Add ALL Option Values in an Option Name
Go to Attributes Controller
Find Product ...
Copy Attributes to 1 Product or 1 Category of Products with Copy To buttons at top of screen ...
Thanks, but you've lost me here!Quote:

I've been to
admin/attributes_controller.php?products_filter=1220¤t_category_id=47
and
admin/options_name_manager.php
and
admin/options_values_manager.php
and what feels like several other screens that I can never find again, over the last couple of hours, and I just can't see this option at the top of any of them!
I can't select multiple attributes to add, if that's what you meant. I tried in IE as well, but it's just not letting me do it.
I see:
"Leave blank for ALL Products or
enter a Category ID for Products to update"
in "Copy to ALL Products where Option Name and Value ..." and "Copy Option Name/Value to Products with existing Option Name ...". So, that's applying to the ONE category or ALL products if left blank. Not what I want.
I also see "Default New Attribute Values from Product ID# or leave blank for no default values", which I don't understand, even after experimenting on it.
I know, somewhere, there's a thing where you can copy the attributes of one product to another. But if I have 25 colours and even more sizes, getting that first product setup is going to be a nightmare in itself.
Can you explain it to me in even simpler terms, pretty please?
