Another problem has surfaced. I want to add another sidebox on the right side of my page. When I use the Layout Boxes Controller to add a box, it does not show up on the page. What am I missing ????
Clyde,
More stylesheet help, please. Nothing's changed as far as ZC version or my IE version. I haven't test-ran this with FF, yet. I should; it's just that my desktop loads a lot slower than my laptop.
OK, first, check out this page: http://www.sarassoapsnsuch.com//inde...index&cPath=69. You'll notice my blurb in pink, then the links to "100% Natural Soaps" and "Almost All Natural Soaps," but the letters are cut off. How do I widen that box to correct that?
Next... On that same page, you'll see that the writing is sort of squished together. I'd like more white space amongst the pink writing. How do I get that? (Please include the path I need.)
Same deal here: http://www.sarassoapsnsuch.com//inde...ex&cPath=69_71.
By the way, I LOVE the Mystic River template, as well as the Ocean Front. However, if I changed now, I think Donal would make the trans-Atlantic flight just to kick my hiney. :laugh:
~Sara
open includes/templates/comstock/css/stylesheet.css
add the following declarations at the bottom of the stylesheet.
#categoryDescription {
line-height: normal;
}
.categoryListBoxContents a {
line-height:normal;
}
#indexProductListCatDescription {
line-height:normal;
}
.productListing-data {
line-height:normal;
}
Clyde, thank you for the excellent template. I am a total noob and i am having trouble location a particular piece of code. I am using the webtools on firefox and i can get it to tell me that this is what i am looking for:
< h1 id="indexDefaultHeading">Welcome to Heatwavesales</h1 >
But i do not see it in my stylesheet anywhere.
Thanks!
I just want to remove it, or put something else in its place. I was planning on using that section in the define main page section.
open includes/languages/english/comstock/index.php
find the following section of code
Change this
to thisCode:define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Welcome to ' .STORE_NAME); /*Replace this line with the headline you would like for your shop. For example: Welcome to My SHOP!*/
} elseif ($category_depth == 'nested') {
// this will also be used on Top Level
define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Welcome to ' .STORE_NAME); /*Replace this line with the headline you would like for your shop. For example: Welcome to My SHOP!*/
Code:define('HEADING_TITLE', ''); /*Replace this line with the headline you would like for your shop. For example: Welcome to My SHOP!*/
} elseif ($category_depth == 'nested') {
// this will also be used on Top Level
define('HEADING_TITLE', ''); /*Replace this line with the headline you would like for your shop. For example: Welcome to My SHOP!*/
I will give that a try. Thanks so much!
My site is RCHelicraft.com/store
OK, those worked great! As I navigated around my site, I noticed that some of my product descriptions are cut off at the bottom. First, look here, for example, in the box entitled "Monthly Specials for July": http://www.sarassoapsnsuch.com//inde...index&cPath=69. Then click any product shown; the "g"s are cut off in "shipping" and "larger image" (under the graphic). It's like that for every product. I know it's a stylesheet thing, but is there a declaration that'll apply to every product?
Next question: I seem to have lost my Google Analytics tracking with the template installation. One, where would I find it (can't remember the original path) and two, where would I install it under the Comstock template?
Thanks!
~Sara
I want to add the Manufacturer's sidebox to show a list of all the manufacturers I am dealing with.
Fiond the following declarations in the stylesheet and add the following to each: line-height:normal;
#productMainImage
#categoryDescription
.categoryListBoxContents
As for google analytics, I haven't used it but I would assume it should be placed somewhere in tpl_footer.php. Look at the installation instructions for the mod to be sure.
I have turned the Left/Right Column status on. Set the location to 'Right'. Set the Left/Right Column Sort Order to 5 and updated the box. It still does not show up.
You might also want to add the line-height rule to the following delcaration.
body {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
background: url(../images/background.gif) 0 0 repeat-x ;
font: normal 62.5%/1.3em Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color: #000000;
line-height:normal;
}
I reset the Sort Order and followed the same procedure to add the Manufacturer's side box. It almost seems that that part of the script is NOT there.
The Manufacturer's box is still not appearing. I don't know what is worng.
Yes, they are correctly set up.
Scroll Box/Style = 3
Verify Product Exist = 1
The actual box is not on the main page of the store.
Thanks for sharing this template, it is very nice.
Everything is set correctly...and, still no Manufacturer's SideBox.
Any screenshots or previews? Thanks!
Hello!
I'm sorry if my english isn't very good. :blush: I'm from The Netherlands.
My question:
Im using zencart version 1.3.8.
I just installed the comstock template. Very nice! :smile:
I have a question about the banner at the bottem of the site.
There are pictures of Mastercard, Visa, Paypal and others. How can I remove these pictures? I don't accept creditcard en paypal doesn't want me because it's an adult site. I don't want it to be confusing to my customers.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you very much.
Thank you very very much for your help :yes:
Another question :blush:
Where can I devine HEADER_EXTRA_TEXT?
Thanx again for your help.
i have a couple questions

1> From the comstock readme file:
STYLESHEET SETTINGS:
The top horizontal category navigation, and the footer IP address are set to display none by default.
To use comment out this declaration:
#navCatTabsWrapper {
display: none;
}
#siteinfoIP {
display: none;
}
and un-comment the following declarations:
/* #navCatTabsWrapper {
margin: 0 auto;
background: url(../images/navbar.gif) repeat-x;
font-weight: bold;
color: #ffffff;
}*/
2> includes/languages/english/comstock/header.php
3>This is not template specific
4>This should take care of the problem
just unzip and upload the entire includes folder to your server.

im sorry for the catagories i ment that they would be right above my products in the middle like this site http://www.dashtrimkits.net/ and also when you look at my site are some of the title cut in half like wher it says new products in the gray area and do you know how to fix the backup area or tell me where to go please
Here's a screenshot of your site (looks like it worked just fine)
Attachment 6217
Sorry, my bad.
includes/languages/english/comstock/index.php
define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Welcome to ' .STORE_NAME); /*Replace this line with the headline you would like for your shop. For example: Welcome to My SHOP!*/
} elseif ($category_depth == 'nested') {
// this will also be used on Top Level
define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Welcome to ' .STORE_NAME); /*Replace this line with the headline you would like for your shop. For example: Welcome to My SHOP!*/
change both instances
define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Welcome to ' .STORE_NAME); /*Replace this line with the headline you would like for your shop. For example: Welcome to My SHOP!*/
} elseif ($category_depth == 'nested') {
// this will also be used on Top Level
define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Welcome to ' .STORE_NAME); /*Replace this line with the headline you would like for your shop. For example: Welcome to My SHOP!*/
The highlighted portions are what you need to change or edit.
i cant save my picture here i took a screen shot do you have a email address and ill send it to you please
I explained how to do this in the post above
Sorry vista is not a browser.
What browser are you using (firefox, internet explorer, safari, chrome, opera)
If you are using internet explorer then click on tools (in the menu bar) then select delete browsing history
Then select temporary internet files then click the delete button
after doing this make sure you refresh the page in your browser.
i have the welcome part done thank you for that and yes im using IE and i did delete all of the history and cookies but im also on a laptop also and its a widescreen would that be why im seeing it different. Also do you know how i can get my catagories in the body of my pages
Sorry if this has been asked before but where do you load the includes file for this template. Is it includes/template or some where else.
Clyde, hate to bother you for this because I have used your templates so many times with great success. I upgraded one my site to comstock 2.02. No problems. I have test and working versions of this on several sites - again, no problems. But, to save my soul, I can not get my logo image to display on the site I just updated from ver 2.0 of Comstock. the site is www.bobkatgifts.net . One of my test sites is www.bobkatgifts.net/whimsical - it displays just fine there ????:frusty:
Here are screen shots from both sites. The logo appears to be present.

Hi all!
I've just started using zencart 1.3.8a and have downloaded the Comstock template....the best template I've seen by a mile :)
I've installed as per the instructions and everything seems to work but the site is left aligned rather than centered as it should be.
Also, the header image header_bg.jpg doesn't show.
I'm completely new to php so am struggling to make sense of it all!
Can anyone please take a look at my site and see if they can spot what I've done wrong?
Here's the URL http://snowrepublic.org.uk/shop/
Thanks for your help!
I'm off to have a look see if I can find some sort of php development software so I don't have to keep bothering you guys when I have a problem....wish me luck lol!
Thanks Clyde,
I reloaded everything and the problem remained, so I removed zencart, reinstalled then uploaded comstock again but the probelm still remains.
Is there a preferred location to download the template from? Just thinking maybe I have an old version or something?
Thanks,
Damian
Just had a look using firefox and it is centered but still no heading image.
It looks like there may be a problem with IE8!
Ah, that's a forced ad by my host.
I'll see if I can find another host that doesn't force ads to test the theory!
I'll let you know how I get on.....:smile:
Hi again Clyde,
I've saved my page offline and removed the banner code, but it still renders the page incorrectly.
I'm having a look at the html to see if I can find what's wrong.
When I view the page source this is what I'm seeing: The highlighted portion should not be where it is. it should be located within the <head> </head> section.

Just saved the code offline again and moved the <head> before the <div> as you stated and when trying it again it still renders left adjusted in IE8, however it does render correctly centered in Firefox so it looks like an IE8 problem. I'll see if I can make it work in IE8 and let you know, then it's just how to get the header_bg.jpg to show in both browsers......both jobs for tomorrow though......I need a drink :yes:
Thanks for your help so far Clyde and thanks again for the template :smile:
The view source still shows up as I indicated in my previous post.
I've also attached a screenshot of the site: It is not rendering the css correctly. Unless the large text is intentional.
Attachment 6387
Sorry Clyde, when I moved the code I just tried it offline.
It's not to do with the template, it must be my installation of zen cart. As you mentioned, the text is too large and I've just changed back to the classic template and it also renders laft adjusted in IE8 and centered in Firefox.
I used Softaculous in my web host control panel to do the install for me.
I'll have to try a different host.
Thanks for all your help!!
Hi again Clyde,
I've signed up to a new web host and things look much better in both IE8 and Firefox.
I still can't get the heading backgroud image to appear though. Have you got any ideas?
New location:
http://snow.byethost8.com/shop/
Thanks!
It's ok, I've sorted it!
Just realised the image code was commented out of the stylesheet by default :blush:
Hi Clyde!
I'm not sure if this is a problem with zen cart or the template....
If you look at my shop: http://snow.byethost8.com/shop/
the page doesn't look quite right because the center of the page is too high. The black bar at the center that contains the words 'This text can be changed in inludes/languages/english/comstock/header.php' is lined up with the red bar on the background.
I was just experimenting with ez-page links (I've got a link labelled 'Book a service' in the left column) and noticed when I configured that link to be in the header, the page rendered correctly.
It's as though you need to have at least 1 ez-page link in the header for the page to look right.
I hope this helps in some way and if it's a problem with zen cart, not the template let me know and I'll report it to the creators.
Regards,
Damian
That fixed it! Thanks Clyde.
Can I ask another question?
I've been trying to change the background colour of the categories in my categories sidebox but am having no luck at all.
I've searched the forums and found the colour is currently set to #9a9a9a so I searched all the css files and changed them whereever I found that colour but it had no effect.
Can you tell me where the category background colour is controlled? I'd like to change it to a background image if that's possible.
Thanks again for all your help Clyde!
Hi Clyde, I'm getting quite far tweaking my site now but could you help me with a php question please?
I've highlighted which category was selected by the user by re-instating SPAN.category-subs-parent and SPAN.category-subs-selected into the style sheet and changing the colour of the selected category text.
However, the above spans don't effect special categories such as 'New Products' and 'All Products' so I'm trying to add that functionality.
In tpl_categories.php you can tell which category or subcategory was selected by the user with the code:
if ($box_categories_array[$i]['current'])
Is there an equivalent method to tell which special category was selected?
Thanks again!
Regards,
Damian
I've found the code you mentioned thanks, but I'm still not sure how I can tell if the user has clicked any of the special categories.
Is there a variable I can test to check if, for example, the user has just clicked 'New Products'?
Thank you!
Using ZC version 1.3.8a and the Comstock template. Web address: www.SarasSoapsnSuch.com.
Question: In the footer, there's a graphic for the credit cards I (supposedly) take, listing MC, Visa, Discover and AmEx, plus Paypal. I don't take AmEx or PP, so how do I change that graphic? I looked in /public_html/includes/templates/comstock/common/tpl_footer.php, but couldn't see anything that looked like the line I'd need to edit for that. I need this to be more accurate. I honestly didn't realize it listed all of them (or I'd have troubleshot this earlier), and now I've got to contact a customer about her AmEx payment that I can't accept.
Thanks!
~Sara

If you want to modify the image
go to includes/templates/comstock/images/options.gif
Edit the file in your image editor.
Hi Clydejones,
I am using ZC version 1.3.8a and the Comstock template.
But I met a problem like www.SarasSoapsnSuch.com. In the bestsellers sideboxes, the sidebox_header_bg pic and side_box_content_bg pic can't be juncture. Could help take a look?
How can fix this problem?
Thanks a lot in advance.
James
sorry, I build the web on my local host for testing, han't uploaded it on the internet. but effec looks likes the www.SarasSoapsnSuch.com. I have not installed any addone, only 1.3.8a and this template. pls help me. Thanks
Hi clydjones,
I searched forum, find some has the same issue.
I referred his suggestion, add the new class in the stylesheet.css.
.bestsellersContent {
background-image:url(../images/sidebox_content_bg.gif);
margin-top: 0;
padding:0;
}
and change the /tpl_best_sellers.php.
from
$content .= '<div id="' . str_replace('_', '-', $box_id . 'Content') . '" class="sideBoxContent">' . "\n";
to
$content .= '<div id="' . str_replace('_', '-', $box_id . 'Content') . '" class="bestsellersContent">' . "\n";
BUT it doesn't work, it still has a blank between the sidebox_content_bg.gif and sidebox_header_bg.gif.
Could you help me on this?
Thanks a lot.
try the following:
open includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/sideboxes/tpl_best_sellers.php
replace the following code:
with this:Code:$content = '';
$content .= '<div id="' . str_replace('_', '-', $box_id . 'Content') . '" class="sideBoxContent">' . "\n";
$content .= '<div class="wrapper">' . "\n" . '<ol>' . "\n";
for ($i=1; $i<=sizeof($bestsellers_list); $i++) {
$content .= '<li><a href="' . zen_href_link(zen_get_info_page($bestsellers_list[$i]['id']), 'products_id=' . $bestsellers_list[$i]['id']) . '">' . zen_trunc_string($bestsellers_list[$i]['name'], BEST_SELLERS_TRUNCATE, BEST_SELLERS_TRUNCATE_MORE) . '</a></li>' . "\n";
}
$content .= '</ol>' . "\n";
$content .= '</div>' . "\n";
$content .= '</div>';
Code:$content = '';
$content .= '<div id="' . str_replace('_', '-', $box_id . 'Content') . '" class="sideBoxContent">' . "\n";
$content .= '<ol>' . "\n";
for ($i=1; $i<=sizeof($bestsellers_list); $i++) {
$content .= '<li><a href="' . zen_href_link(zen_get_info_page($bestsellers_list[$i]['id']), 'products_id=' . $bestsellers_list[$i]['id']) . '">' . zen_trunc_string($bestsellers_list[$i]['name'], BEST_SELLERS_TRUNCATE, BEST_SELLERS_TRUNCATE_MORE) . '</a></li>' . "\n";
}
$content .= '</ol>' . "\n";
$content .= '</div>';
