Have you taken a close look at the the version of IH2 Judy Gunderson has submitted. Her version doesn't MAJORLY change ANYTHING in IH2 so why she submitted it as a NEW and separate module is beyond me..
After comparing her version last night to Rev 7 of IH2 it seems clear that she should have submitted it as an UPDATE with a MUCH BETTER explanation of what she "did" in her submission notes.. Also her "version" implies that it fixes a problem that was never a problem (that I was a aware of) even with the new version of Zen Cart.
My point was I would not pay ANYONE to make this particular version (the Judy Gunderson version) of IH2 PHP 5.3 compatible since with the exception of a VERY MINOR change I do not see ANYTHING ELSE different in her version. (and since I'm not a coder, I will be asking a friend or two to help me interpret the code that Judy did add to IH2 to determine WHAT it is supposed to do)

Other than the hover on medium images (which has NEVER been coded into IH2 and which I imagine WOULD be a fairly complicated undertaking if compatibility with lightbox mods is to be maintained..) what features don't work???
I posted yesterday that I will be submitting a PHP 5.3 compatible version of the ORIGINAL IH2. The changes to make IH2 PHP 5.3 compatible are MINOR at best and do not warrant a major version number change.
I am of the opinion that updating the Judy Gunderson version with no real understanding of WHAT SHE CHANGED is not a good idea.. Which is why I PERSONALLY would not pay to fix THAT version..

Nothing.. I have paid for feature coding before, but my point was that I personally wouldn't spend ANY money on a version of IH2 which is VAGUELY documented, and as far as I can tell brings NOTHING new to the table.
She (Judy Gunderson) in essence took the Rev 7 version of IH2, add a LITTLE bit of code to it, made some VAGUE reference to some "broken" functionality (that has NEVER been broken or even reported broken), changed NONE of the supporting documentation, and then submitted it as a NEW mod (instead of an update to the existing mod) Now if YOU want to pay to have THAT version updated to make it PHP 5.3 compatible, knock yourself out.. I will submit Rev 8 (as an UPDATE to Rev 7) to the downloads section, and it won't cost me or anyone a dime to use it..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
wow, that's a lot of words to read...
i shall be brief..
a) not even downloaded to look at the differences.. i simply found it last night because i see mods are being updated to 139 without us knowing about it to add to the list.
b) Give the lass a break, good on her for trying. while you might think her efforts arent good or confusing, to be listed it has to get approval... have a rant at who ever approved it. (wait till you see what i do to Login Spuce Up)
c) i dont care if its IH2, IH2a, IH3, or a totally new mod.. so long as it' works and is 139a and 139B (yes, there's another one coming) compatible, PHP5.3 compatible, zen lightbox compatible, isnt buggy or a security risk and easy to install! (having a feature to make me a brew would be good too)
Right, cant be on the ZC forums all day, some of us have proper jobs to do, lol :P

have you got the images you want to use as a watermark in the right place in the right format?
are all the files uploaded...?... for some reason filezilla doesnt always notify you when a file failed to upload... dead annoying!!!!

And this is precisely why I posted what I did.. The Judy Gunderson version is going to cause CONFUSION.. IMO it should NOT even be included on your list of "mods that work with Zen Cart".
It has already been established that IH2 Rev 7 is Zen Cart 1.3.9a compatible, and I will be submitting an update which will ALSO make it PHP 5.3 compatible.
Before we go calling for folks to pool their resources on an update of this "new" IH2 version, we should at least know what it does that is so all fired different from the current version of IH2. (I cannot see what BIG change she made, and the feature she claimed she "fixed" was -to my knowledge- never broken)

I wasn't giving her a hard time, merely stating what I see to be the current state of affairs. It's not about me thinking her efforts aren't good enough. It's about her not fully qualifying or documenting her changes. It's about her creating a NEW version of IH2, and in doing so creating what appears to be a FORK in this application (whether that was by design or by accident) with no major code changes or documentation to back up the need for a NEW SEPERATE version.. I'll say it again, her "version" of Zen Cart is going to create issues in terms of support because of this. (surely you can see how this is true right??)

Got it, but if you're going to ask for a new major version number, you should know that it USUALLY means a major code change. (hence the explanation)
It's already been established that IH2 works with the latest and greatest version of Zen Cart, and AGAIN I will be submitting a PHP 5.3 compatible version soon (having it tested now to ensure it really IS PHP 5.3 compatible)
IH2 is stable (ie - not buggy), and compatible with most lightbox mods...

It's not actually been added to the list that i have created... dunno where you got the impression it was,,, Less speed and more haste maybe! You're getting confused with the mod test submitted by Clyde Jones. When I add a mod to the list I add the whole title copy and pasted from the listing. Note it says 'zc137' and has been there since the 2nd list I made.

excellent, i cannot wait.. will it be zc139b compatible? lol..
im not joking btw... lol, seriously.. it's in the bugs threads!
Whether your intention is to give this lass a hard time or not.. it is coming across that way... agree or disagree with me, that is your prerogative, but that is the perception your posts have given regarding this subject, because they have such gusto about them.

I'm not confused at all.. However your list of compatible apps appears to list IH2 TWICE. So it left me with the impression that you were referring to the Rev7 version of the original and the version submitted by Ms Gunderson. Until Ms Gunderson submitted her "new" version, there has only been two versions of IH2 available in the downloads (1 for ver 1.3.x and one for ver 1.2.7)
To be clear, you asked about pooling resources to pay for PHP 5.3 updates to Judy Gunderson's version of IH2 in the IH2 support thread as if it (Ms Gunderson's version of IH2) was something IN ADDITION TO or IMPROVED FROM the original version of IH2. Hence my initial response and all of my subsequent responses on this matter.. I would daresay that since this "version" is new most folks frequenting this support thread knew nothing about it until your post. I only wanted to make sure it was CRYSTAL clear that what has been submitted by Ms Gunderson is NOT anything new (or even improved based on what I can see was modified).

I don't need to make an official complaint.. If Ms Gunderson wants to submit her "fork" of IH2 she is free to do so.. It's open source that's how it works.. However, I felt the responsible thing to do was to inform those who come to this thread looking for support to know that the version of IH2 submitted by Judy Gunderson does not appear to be a true fork of the original IH2 module and it is NOT PHP 5.3 compatible. (again whether the separate submission was by design or by accident this is still a fact)

IH2 is already Zen Cart 1.3.9a compatible what I will be submitting will include PHP 5.3 compatibility as well..

and I do disagree.. I am absolutely NOT giving her a hard time.. If stating what has occurred is giving her a hard time then so be it.. But I stated what I can see clearly (with no emotions or "gusto" attached -- only the ones which others ASSUME are there ). So let me restate it all so it's clear:
- The Judy Gunderson version of IH2 does not appear to be any kind of MAJOR re-write of IH2. (which IMO does not require it to be submitted as a NEW separate version)
- The Judy Gunderson version of IH2 adds some minor edits, and I will be confirming with a programmer to make sure I understand what the code she added does in fact "do"
- The Judy Gunderson version of IH2 is NOT PHP 5.3 compatible
- The Judy Gunderson version of IH2 purports to fix a "broken feature" that is not in fact broken to my knowledge
Now I am happy to be proven wrong, but since Ms Gunderson did not include adequate documentation with her submission, it's hard to come to any other conclusions. Call it picking, even call it picking with "gusto" but I prefer to call it having a discussion of things that are out there in the open to be seen and discussed..

Again I'm NOT CONFUSED. I heard you, and I do not expect that 1.3.8B will be VASTLY different from 1.3.9A (hence why the version number the Zen Cart team used for this release does not increment the number and only increments the letter to distinguish the versions -- this indicates that this is probably a MINOR release)
So therefore if IH2 is compatible with 1.3.9A it's likely going to STILL be compatible with 1.3.9B as well.. Now if you needed me to EXPLICITLY state then, then there you have it.. If 1.3.9b is out before testing of the PHP 5.3 compatible version is complete we will confirm this.. Otherwise if there is a minor update required after I submit it (which I think is unlikely), I will cross that bridge when I get to it..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Fascinating. Now my small images, and the rollovers, are watermarked. Still nothing on the mediums and larges, though.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thinking about it a bit more, is it possible that this is due to the location of my image uploads? I'm keeping them under images in a directory called uploads/etc. broken down by product category. EP found them no problem, but is this possibly the cause of IH2 not watermarking medium and large images? Namely, that there are no images (other than the watermarks) in the medium and large directories?
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
ok, i think i misspoke when i said i had watermark on images that are med size...no i don't
i meant that when you hover over the small image to see the medium size---i can get the watermark to show...but prefer not to so only the large when clicked to view is actually the one with the watermark.
i have my images done like this:
1. click the new image button
2. browse the computer for the image i need then right above it I enter promos/vendor name/product name/
that way they are all sent to that folder for that product (we have several for the products)
then finalize the uploading of the images. I only need to enter the path to the folder I need them to go to with the first image of each product.
maybe if you did not enter the path to the folder may be why the watermark is not following the image???
just a thought
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
My method for populating the shop with images is simply to use EP (I currently only have one image per product). My understanding from the various readmes was that this method would work without further intervention.
If I understand you correctly, you're saying that I'd have to manually enter an image for each product? If this is what I have to do, I'll do it, but I'd rather not until I know that my method isn't going to work. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
Thanks.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
not knowing what EP is, unless you mean easy populate which i do not have installed.
the way I uploaded the images was my understanding of how to use IH2 and it has worked for me so not sure what to tell you...maybe try it on one or two images then see if your watermark shows
if it does then what you do is up to you, tis all I know of what to do.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I tried that with an existing product. I deleted the image and uploaded a fresh copy. Still no watermark.
Anyone else with some other ideas? I keep thinking it has something to do with the watermark files themselves, but...I don't know what else to try. They're png files and I made them the same size as the watermarks delivered with core ZC.

Have you tried putting the core watermarks back and seeing if they work?, could be an issue with your watermark png? but as its working on the rollover seems unlikely
Are they are named correctly?
The only things i can suggest are triple checking the product page code, did you upload the included image handler product page or did you merge the code together with the existing page, and you haven't updated or installed any new mods since installing image handler?
note the page isn't called product page, the name of it escapes me right now, i'm sure someone much brighter will chime in with the name of it, I think its in your template or custom template folder.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Anyway the reason i'm here
Opera browser, do the rollover effects etc work with opera yet?, as i am about to do a site upgrade from 1.3.7 (and whatever version of IH2 was around then), and i just want to know if it works as i still haven't found a site it works on with Opera

if by chance it is a misloaded file you could just open the zip then go to your server and actually check each folder in the zip with the ones on the server....making entirely sure the file uploaded is in the correct place.
I had a client accidently upload one of the image_handler.php into the wrong place and after it got put in the proper spot it started behaving.

It depends on how you installed image jandler, I can't speak for the latest version, but on the original IH2 you had the option of either overwriting a couple of files (main_product_image.php i think & a pop up one i think), or manually merging them ie adding the code to the original zencart files your self
Just as a query, do you have server access?
have you tried checking the error log, i know in my version of Cpanel it lets me see the last 300 errors, never know it may show you something useful
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Herein lies the answer.. It appears that you have overwritten the product page files instead of merging the changes. I suspect that you installed your lightbox app AFTER installing Image Handler and it is fairly clear that you did not merge the changes in the common files which is why your watermarking does not work on your product pages.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi, Diva –
So, assuming that would be the case, what would the corrective procedure be? Remove both add-ons, install lightbox and then install IH2?
I compared the IH2 files against v139 and there are some differences. It's not always clear which changes to pick up and which to leave.

It's not the order in which you install these add-ons that matters.. They both make changes to some of the same files. You need to merge these changes.
The correct procedure for this and ANY add-on is to make sure that you merge (versus overwrite) any common files.

I'm afraid this is not something I can easily explain. You may have to start by seeing and noting the differences between v1.3.8a and 1.3.9a first. Once you have this then it may be easier to see where which changes between v1.3.9a and the core files included in IH2 should be merged.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Mz,
There is a new version of Image Handler for 139a in the Free Software Addons
I use Use Fual Slimbox (a mirror image to Zen Lightbox), available in the Free Software Addon section too.
Be careful to winmerge these files into the core of 139a.
I did a test last night on a fresh install of 139a, worked seamlessly.
What I noticed is that Image Handler and Fual do not overload on each other which is easier to winmerge...

and if you saw our earlier discussions on this "new" version you will note that this version is NOT PHP 5.3 compatible.. As I have posted earlier, I will be posting an UPDATE to the Rev 7 files which will be 1.3.9a AND PHP 5.3 compatible.. I will also be updating the readme file as well so that the changelog is CLEAR. The new version will be backwards compatible for those whose hosts are not running PHP 5.3 just yet. I need more PHP 5.3 testers. If anyone is interested in testing it, please PM me your e-mail address and I will be happy to send you a zipped copy to test.
Also for those who are not converting to 1.3.9a right away, but whos host may convert them to PHP 5.3, I will include a PHP 5.3 compatible version for 1.3.8a.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
May I ask what all the discussion about PHP 5.3 is about? Is this a new version that all the hosting services are about to move to?
Regarding reinstallation: I guess if I file compare the add-on to the core 139, I'll see a list of the files that get modified. The other files in the add-on should be bolt-in. For the files with overlap, it looks like some quality time with a three-way merge tool is in order. Ah well...it still beats working for a living.

I suggest a forum or Google search as a full blown PHP 5.3 discussion is very much off topic here.. Hosting services are moving to PHP 5.3, and many apps using functions deprecated in PHP 5.3 will no longer work. IH2 has some of this in it's code and so it's an issue that needs to be addressed.

No worries.. I figured you might be interested in a PHP 5.3 compatible version.. One of the folks who will be testing the new version is reporting that he is having no PHP 5.3 compatibility issues with Rev 7 of IH2.. But I think that is just luck..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I did a directory comparison between 1.3.9 and IH2 with 1.3.8 as the ancestor. It looks like the following files within IH2 have changed either in IH2 or in 1.3.9:
includes/modules/additional_images.php
includes/modules/main_product_image.php
includes/modules/pages/popup_image/header_php.php
includes/modules/pages/popup_image_additional/header_php.php
includes/templates/template_default/popup_image_additional/tpl_main_page.php
Of these, the only file that has changes in BOTH IH2 and 1.3.9 is:
includes/modules/pages/popup_image/header_php.php
So, would I be correct in assuming that if I reapply all the 1.3.9 files to my shop, then merge the header_php.php file, then install IH2, I should be OK? I realize that I'll then have to do a similar exercise with Lightbox.
Thanks.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Here is a clear explanation of what I did - if this helps.
1. The latest version of IH2 revised by ckosloff BROKE the additional images function on the product info page. So... if someone added additional images to their products - and they also had that version of IH2 installed - the additional images DID NOT SHOW UP. EVERY site we have tried to install that updated IH2 on did the same thing and we have always had to uninstall and go back to the prior version to get this functionality.
2. So... as I stated in the description - I took the older version originally created by Tim Kroger - one version before the latest version - and changed one or two of the files that needed to be changed to work with 1.3.9
I have tons of clients that NEED those extra images to show up - and I am sure there are many out there that want to use additional images on their product pages - so that is why I renamed it a little to include that it supported the additional images.
I am NOT a coder and I definately am not trying to take "credit" for this mod - I am just trying to help people who need those additional images on their product page.
If this update is a problem with everyone - then I am happy to ask the developers of zen cart to remove it. But until such time that ckosloff (who updated the prior version) or someone else can get the additional images to work in his code and also upgrade it for 1.3.9 - I think it is a necessary addon - at least for the moment....

Are you saying that the most up to date version of IH2 Ver 2.0 rev 7 is working with additional images? I believe you may have the version PRIOR to that - which works for additional images.

I saw where your lightbox works but still no watermark...
did you ever activate for the med image when seen by hovering small image to have the watermark.
I notice that your small image and the hover of it are the same size...maybe that is why the watermark does not want to cooperate with the large image...have you tried increasing the size of your medium image?
did you place these into an override folder in includes/modules/your template folder/additional_images.php and main_product_image.php
along with the ones from the templates section too that and editing the files (header ones in pages) helped too so if you have not edited the new ffiles with the ih2 info then that may be why it does not wish to behave totally.
that is how i have mine set up and it behaves that and editing the files in pages (header ones) helped

I just installed the latest version of IH2 and the additional image upload function is now working.
My apologies - When it first came out, we tested it many times and the additional images would not upload. This has obviously been fixed and I was unaware of it.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Here was my "beef" as it were in a nutshell.. Your version of IH2 was submitted to the downloads section as if it was a NEW RE-WRITE of Image Handler (which would be the ONLY reason to submit an add-on as a NEW add-on versus an UPDATE ro an existing add-on). Based on what I saw in my review there was NOTHING new, it looked like an UPDATE. (albeit an update based on incorrect data)
I get that you were trying to share and help the community, but you did this with little to NO explanation as to the changes you made when your mod was submitted (ALL of the documentation ckosloff and I wrote were included in your submission with no updates to the changelog at all). Your description of your add-on was identical to the original IH2 add-on with the only change being the VAGUEST of references to a "broken" feature.
You also NEVER stopped by this support thread to inform the community who uses Rev 7 of IH2 of your plans to update it. If you had, the members of the community who use Rev 7 surely would have told you (which is what occurred today) that the "broken feature" you were "fixing" was NEVER broken at all..
Now there are some who took exception to my pointing any of this out and thought I was giving you a hard time.. Not my intent. My concern was the confusion your version could cause. Because of how it was submitted, because the documentation was vague, and because it could cause confusion to the community. Not everyone will take the time to do an analysis to see what a NEW version REALLY brings to the table. Some community member will assume that if it's a NEW version, it must REALLY be new...

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
You should but remember after you install IH2, you need to compare the lightbox files with the files in your shop.. That's why EVERY SINGLE mod tells you to BACKUP your store first.. There's two reasons for this
1. you can rollback your store if a module install goes horribly wrong.
2. You can use these files to do your win merges so you are merging your changes into your existing store files. (which may have ALREADY been modified)
I normally make a two backups.. 1 to allow me an easy rollback path, and the other I call my "working files" which is where I do my merges. I upload the changed files from my working copy to my development site. If all goes well great.. If it goes to hell in a handbasket, I rollback..

His issue is not caused by any of his IH2 settings.. His settings are fine, and his medium hover is working fine.
His lightbox and IH2 touch the same product page files. Since he did not merge these changes, his lightbox wiped out the IH2 code on his product page.

Again - apologies for my error in updating the mod previous to the current one that in my experiences did NOT allow for upload of additional images. Crow has been eaten - and lesson learned from your posts - thanks.
To be honest, <wearing my heart on my sleeve> I have "worried" and even taken offense by your posts and because of that I will most certainly not submit updates any other mods to work with 1.3.9 other than the ones I have already submitted HOPING to help the community. I will leave it to others like you to do this and keep my 1.3.9 updated files on my computer and not share them with anyone other than my immediate clients in the future. :(

Are you sure, as from memory imagehandler uses the ereg_replace function which is depreceated in php 5.3 so you should be getting an error

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Actually come to think of it, have you perchance turned off error/warning reporting, as the functions are still in PHP (I Believe/think), but if the warnings are turned off they should work fine
however when the functions are removed Possibly next version of php it will fail,
as itys a local test server, would you mind trying step 2B here

I might try it later but i have 2 preschoolers assisting me and until the ZenCart developers pull finger and ###### Bob the Builder to zencart i can't try it yet

What product page files are you referring to? I just double-checked a directory compare of the two add-ons, and could find no overlapping files. (I was incorrect in what I said about main_product_image.php above.)

if you got this after the 1.3.9 upgrade then go to your cche folder and set its permissions to 777 or 755 on some servers
then go to the page again to see the blank page.
go back to the cache folder and open the file in there to see the error message, it may tell you what or where to start looking.
post it here for help.

Sorry you were offended.. Not my intent at all.. I was simply expressing an opinion about how I thought things were handled. There was no anger or malice behind anything I wrote.. (though some might assume otherwise) Again, my concerns centered around the fact that the two mods being out there REALLY would have been a cause for confusion. Surely you can see that right?? (hence why this flurry of posts over the last few days..)
It's too bad you will walk away from this not wanting to share with the community as a result.. I personally think that is an extreme response to this whole situation, but certainly your prerogative to do so if you feel strongly about it..

I am not at my home computer, but here it is in a nutshell.. Somewhere between installing the lightbox and Zen Cart, something is not working on your product page.. It doesn't appear to be a setting, so that leads me to believe it's in the install of the lightbox add-on.. It's possible that it could be another add-on that is causing the problem.. Whatever it is, there is clearly code missing on the product pages that IH2 needs to display the watermarks properly on that page.

OK, I can believe that, but again, what exactly do you mean by "the product pages?"
If I have to, I'll delete all the remote copy of both add-ons and re-install, but I'd like some evidence that this will do anything. And, my directory compares reveal no such evidence.

Opps sorry for wasting your time but I am not getting an error,
What i was referring to was Clyde Jones saying that image handler was working on php 5.3 which it should if error reporting is turned off, however image handler contains depreciated functions specifically ereg_replace and possibly others, i haven't had a chance to look, which means that if error reporting is turned on, your site will be showing warnings at the top of the page, saying something like
Deprecated: Function ereg_replace() is deprecated in blabla
Turning on error reporting would help to find what those errors are, should make it easy to fix image handler to be compatible with php 5.3, unfortunately i don't have access to a php 5.3 server, although I am as we speak downloading one

Some of those ereg_replace() functions have been corrected in some of the files that need to be compared/merged with IH2.
So after doing the comparing/merging I'm not getting the deprecated error(s)

The page where the watermarks are NOT working. The product detail page (the page with the product pictures, description, attributes, pricing etc).

You are looking at the evidence.. The image which shows on the product detail page is the medium size image, and there is NO watermark. The large image (which shows when you click the image on the product page) has NO watermark
On the other hand, the product listing page (which contains a LIST of products) has watermarks on the small images, and when you hover over them the MEDIUM images display WITH watermarks..
So clearly the issue is in something being installed wrong.. I suspect that something which affects the product image display on the product detail page is MISSING code which IH2 needs to display the watermarks.. Now I can't tell you WHAT is missing, but I can tell you based on what I see what the issue likely is. It's not a IH2 setting.. Your settings are fine.. The INSTALL is the issue.. and I don't know if it's IH2, the lightbox module or another module you've installed.. but something is not installed properly and is causing the watermarks to not work..

OK, I just wiped out every file pertaining to IH2 and re-installed from a fresh copy. (I believe that in so doing, I've removed Lightbox from the equation, as I'm not getting watermarks in places that have nothing to do with Lightbox.)
Behavior is the same.
For the life of me, I don't know what to do now. There are a couple of files that differ between the IH2 versions and the v139 versions, but trying to determine which change to pick up is an absolute guessing game for me.
I think I'm just going to have to give up on this, and do without watermarks, as I'm absolutely out of ideas.
Thank you to everyone who tried to get this working with me.

<br>
<span class="imgLink">larger image</span>
</a>
if you look at your href it is images//products/jewelry/brooches/100002.jpg
1) note the double slash
2) also that image will never be watermarked as it isn't coming from imagehandlers bmz_cache
I know nothing about lightbox, but i assume there is a way to make it recognise imagehandler
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Lightbox apparently does give you the option to watermark your large images provided you have the watermark PNG in your images folder

as you can see the HREF in her link is pointing at the bmzcache, also if you note when you click on the link the image is watermarked.
It might be an idea to post your page here, as it seems you should be able to get the large waterarked image through image handler, unless DarkAngel has used some strange voodoo to do it
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thanks for the reply, Nigel.
The double slash is interesting, and worth tracking down, but I don't think it's coming into play here. The UNIX file system should be able to look past that.
So, the obvious question is, what do I need to do to get my shop to point to the bmzcache? All I did to put the images into my shop was to upload a directory structure and have the Easy Populate file point to those products when I created them. Did I omit a key step? (I did experiment with uploading one image via IH2, and that didn't get watermarked, either.)
Or, to ask a different way: is it necessary to manually upload each image via IH2 to get the watermark? This would seem odd, since IH2 does indeed see the images. Plus, I am able to get watermarks on my small images.
What exactly do you mean by "post your page here?" Explain and I'll do it.

To be perfectly honest NONE of us in here can really answer this.. We are at this point GUESSING since none of us can see your store's back end files. The issue stems from the fact that ALL of the image on your product detail pages are NOT reading from the IH2 cache folders, and that can only mean that some other module you are using is interfering with that process in some way.. Which module??? NO CLUE.. The lightbox contrib seemed most likely, but it may not be that.. Could be EZ Populate, could be something else.. I wish I could help more, but I am out of ideas here.. I strongly suggest searching this support thread and seeing if any other issues with EZ Populate pop up..

IH2 is a straight forward install.. It should just WORK.. Clearly there is another add-on that is interfering, and it's hard to say which one working in the blind..

Hi, Diva –
Since I completely reinstalled IH2 last night, and overwrote EVERY file in my shop with the IH2 counterpart, doesn't that rule out any other add-on interfering? If anything, it would seem that my doing that would break the other add-ons.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Yes, you are definately right about it being an extreme response - but when it is my good name and reputation on the line that I have worked for years to establish - with me any way. it emitted that extreme response.
I PM'd Dr. Byte yesterday to please remove it because of this thread - and he did so very quickly - THANKS Dr. Byte!
I am "over it" now and back to my usual not freaking out self :D and will continue to support this community with updates of other mods as I can and hope that it will be a much better experience than what trying to help in this case was. I have been building sites with zen cart since version 1.2.4 and have been in love with it from the first day I used it - and will not let an incident like this sway that dedication to this software, the developers and the community that uses it.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
OK, I'm not quite ready to give up yet.
I've created a brand new DB, and a brand new install of v139. To this new install, I added IH2.
I believe there were three potential file conflicts between v139 and IH2. In all three cases, I took the IH2 files whole.
No new templates. No other add-ons. NOTHING but v139 and IH2.
I added two products. One I gave an image via the standard method (through editing the product details). The other, I gave an image via IH2.
I've set image settings for watermarks on medium and large images.
I get watermarks on rollover, but not on the images. Identical behavior to my working shop.
What on earth could I be doing wrong here? I think I've eliminated most of the variables.
Thanks.

I don't know what browser you are using, but when you open the pop-up large image, right click on it and select image properties and it will teel you

are you putting the popup-image file included with image handler up (I think thats the one, someone will need to correct me)

just another thought:
1. go to your server files and set your ftp client to allow you to see invisible files
2. check the bmz folder and see if you have a file called .keep
I do not have one in my installation and the thing works as it should but others have stated they do have it so...if you don't have one create it in a text editor. just creat an empty doc and save it as .keep then upload it to bmz_cache folder and see if that works.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
BINGO!
Nigel, you're absolutely right: there are six. (I really need a better file compare/merge tool; that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.)
I replaced all six with the IH2 version, and I'm now getting watermarks in all the desired locations.
I'll try to replicate this in my shop, and will report back.
One lingering issue, though...by taking the IH2 versions of these files, am I throwing away any v139 modifications that will eventually be necessary? A nice addition to the IH2 installation notes would be a description of how to merge these six files.
Anyway, this is the biggest progress I've made in ages. Thanks to EVERYONE for the help.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Update: I recopied the six files mentioned by Nigel above from IH2 into my shop. Watermarks are now WORKING! I'll get a chance to test it some more after I add some new products, but I see no reason it shouldn't continue to work with images imported with Easy Populate. Lightboxes are also watermarked. All is good.
I still have a lingering concern about "orphaning" the changes introduced to those files in v139, but I guess I'll deal with that if and when something comes up.
Thanks again to everyone. Nigel, if you're ever in the Bay Area, I owe you a pint and a cigar.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Michael
Thats my issue at the moment, i am trying to work out what is imagehandler code and what is zen cart code so i can merge the changes into 1.3.9a versions of those 6 files.
On the whole there don't seem to be major differences in some of the files, whereas others do seem to be well and truly changed, also i want to make mine php 5.3 compatible, so i am kind waiting to see what diva Vocals comes out with, as i have kids underfoot, which doesn't help with code comparisons
Good to know you got it working though

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hey Diva
Is the current version of ImageHandler2 v7 based off 1.37 or 1.38 code, as i am just trying to figure which is which codewise

As reported in the doenloads, this is a 1.3.8 codebase.. (which is what the 3 previous versions were based off of..)

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Your reputation was never on the line IMHO.. I had legitimate questions, and if you assumed that your reputation was on the line for asking legimate questions, there is nothing I can do about that..
Sorry you felt slighted by all of this, but my questions were not without merit, and I will not apologize for posing them..
Glad you've moved on.. I will do the same..

Nope.. and I think you issue is related to EZ Populate.. It's the only thing that explains why the images on your product details page are not using the IH2 image cache.. (search this thread for EZ Populate to see other related threads..)

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hello everybody.
I decided to take a long vacation from this forum because people were being judgmental about my person: rude, you think you know everything, the problem is not with the software but with you, etc.
To all those who are interested in my person let me say that I don't intend to date anyone of you, so please don't insist.
Now to the software: obviously, before release, rev. 7 was submitted to stress tests to verify that it was doing everything that it was supposed to do, and that the install would be straightforward and easy.
It is beyond me why some people, who are supposed to be seasoned webmasters, were having any issue with it, e.g. additional images.
The main reason why rev.7 was put forward was, first to help me, then the community who were struggling with an "updated version" that was breaking sites.
There is nothing wrong with rev.7, I even tested on PHP 5.3.1 and it works fine, in spite of the deprecated functions still in it.
There was no urgent need to update, since most ISPs will not move to 5.3.x in the immediate future.
So, if you feel any urgent need to update something that works, please back off and don't add to confusion.
Also, I think it is the fault of the Zen Cart team to not vet more closely updates to critical mods.
Now, 1.3.9b has been released, on that basis, and PHP 5.3.x a new update (rev.8) will be crafted.
Care will be taken that no regressions are in it, testing will be performed on previous versions of PHP too.
Erm...in case somebody wants to make this personal, it is not just me working on that, several guys and gals are, as for the credit, I could not care less.
Please be patient and don't add to confusion.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi, I am using Zen Cart v 1.3.9.a. I've tried to upload Image Handler 2 but I am getting messages "Warning: missing file (includes/aplication_top.php). What can I do about it? Is it possible to install IH2 in this ZC version?
Thanks for any help.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Now, in admin, I get message:
ih_heading_title
ih_version_not found
What to do, please?:frusty:
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Ekele –
IH2 will work with v139. It sounds as though you're missing some files. Application_top.php is a core file (not part of IH2). If you're missing that file, it sounds as though part of your installation may have gone awry.
There are actually two application_top.php files: one in /admin/includes and one in /includes. It sounds like you're missing the latter file.
The second error message you reported suggests that you may have missed copying some of the IH2 files into your shop. I'd double check that as a first step.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Sorry for all those questions but we are just starting.
Now in Admin we are getting:
IH_HEADING_TITLE
IH_VERSION_NOT_FOUND
* IH_INSTALL
* IH_CLEAR_CACHE
* IH_SCAN_FOR_
When I click on those links I get message:
Not Found
The requested URL /my name/my name/FILENAME_IMAGE_HANDLER.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
So I guess, you are right. But how to fix it? Do i have to install IH again?:(

Awesome.. It's being tested as we speak right now.. There are several folks currently testing the new version as we speak.. (so far GOOD results being reported) Would you like to help test it? As with the current Rev 7 version we want to make sure we test it thoroughly with PHP 5.3, but also want to test backwards compatibility as well.. So PHP 5.2.X versions are also being tested.. If you are willing to test, PM me and I'll hit you back with instructions..

There is no point in reinstalling IH2, if you are missing files, just overwrite everything.
If your core installation went bad, as it seems, the easiest way is to start over, since you are just starting.

you should upload all the store files all ovre again as well as the ih2 ones and make sure you put the ih2 files where they should go.
please do not use a program (like fantasitico) to upload/install your store things, do it manually by opening the zip and uploading them through ftp.
you just starting out will make things a bit easier.

Re: Animated gifs
Some time back I reported that animated gifs (in my case used for category images) did not work with this mod. While a workaround was posted, I did not follow through with it.
Now that this mod is undergoing a revision, is there any chance that animated gifs will work?
TIA

How's testing going? What hurdles are left before a general release?

DivaV....are there going to be any drastic or new things with the 1.3.9 version? I guess other than the ability to work with php5, cause the one you all revised already works great in 1.3.9 now...at my store.

As I've posted previously Rev 8 is a small change that will add PHP 5.3 and Zen 1.3.9b compatibility.. We're likely not going to include a second version (as I previously posted) which supports backwards compatibility with previous versions of Zen Cart.. You will need to upgrade to 1.3.9b to use Rev 8..
