Re: new sessions showing ?zenid
I'm not sure I quite grasp what your, and DivaVocals', replies mean exactly, but

So add a mapping for the define page to the Ceon URI mapping table and add a link to this nice new URI to your site.

I find the need to create a number of 'fake' pages (which is what a blank redirected ezpage would be). Say for instance I want to have specific pages in the top nav bar or displayed in the 'footer columns mod', these links need to be ezpages, but the site-map, contact-us form and product reviews, for example, cannot be created as an ezpage so an internal link to a define page is required.

Ummm yeah it's right which is why I said it and why Conor has REPEATEDLY said it, and it's WHY your EZ Pages with internal links aren't working.. There really isn't ANOTHER answer here..
I didn't mean to imply that my ezpage internal links aren't working - they are. So the quote that I referred to - 'you can't use internal links for EZ Pages with Ceon URI' is not, in practice right and with the examples I've given above is in practice sometimes necessary. Unless there's something I'm not seeing here.
cheers
Simon

I wasn't saying that they can't work.. they can.. but that they shouldn't be used. They are a leftover from the use of dynamic URIs in Zen Cart which aren't needed when you use static URIs.. using them results in unnecessary redirections.

Re: Ceon URI Mapping v4.x
Thanks Conor, I understand.
I'm aware that it wasn't you who was saying they can't work.
Cheers

Got it.. I misunderstood your previous posts on this matter and was repeating what I thought was valid information..
Personally I don't use EZ Pages at all ESPECIALLY for internal links.. When using your add-on, I simply create proper redirects for my defined pages and get on with my day.. I also know how to add defined pages to my menus and such so that I don't have to be bothered with those silly internal links.. I also stopped creating EZ Pages to create additional pages as I simply create custom defined pages for any additional pages I need.

Yes, sorry that I gave that impression.

That's exactly the right thing to do. :)

Yes, using internal links in the way Simon has is simply unprofessional.. it works, but is pointless if you can link directly.

Re: Ceon URI Mapping v4.x
Hi, I am using ZC v1.3.9h and barebones template.
I have read the faq but do not see anything that matches my problem. (or I missed it)
I installed CEON uri mapping yesterday following all instructions and since then received 2 errors and 192 warnings on Googles webmaster tools. (Which is basically a warning on every product page).
The issue is
Url blocked by robots.txt ( my robots.txt is set to Allow: / till I get everything set up) so I wondered if I missed somethin in the configuration.
Error message example is
URL restricted by robots.txt
Sitemap: /sitemapezpages.xml
Warning message example is
Sitemap: /sitemapproducts.xml
Value: http://www.mywebsite.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=180
What I have done so far:
Because uri mapping only works on new inputs, I manually added uri mapping on categories and sub-categories. I have not done the products yet. I also unticked the box to have the URI auto-generated for this category. Should they be ticked?
This morning, I turned uri mapping off till I can get the problem resolved.

Sorry but your problems are nothing to so with Ceon URI Mapping itself but something to do with Google Webmaster Tools or your sitemap or your robots.txt file.
I don't use Google Webmaster Tools so I'm afraid I can't help you.
If no-one else can help you here, it might be worthwhile posting in a more appropriate thread, like the Google Sitemaps thread or something?
At least you know the problem's not Ceon URI Mapping, but the use of static URIs on your site, given how your site is set up.
Hopefully that information helps you to find and fix the problem.

If you tick it then a URI will be automatically generated, if you don't then you have to enter one yourself. Either method is a perfectly fine way to work.
Have a nice weekend!

Re: Ceon URI Mapping v4.x
Thanks for replying Conor,
it could well be the sitemaps are causing a problem and manifested itself when I installed uri mapping. I hope I did not sound disparaging. I will investigate the site maps as well.

Could you expand on this a bit. It might help me know what I'm looking for.
Thanks.

The truth is I don't know.. check out the site maps and anything else which affects the reports you are getting back from this Google Webmaster Tools thing.
Obviously the URIs on your site work with Ceon URI Mapping installed, but you are getting reports from a 3rd party tool (GWT) that appears to be having problems with site maps or robots.txt.. so I'd imagine that's what you need to fix, not Ceon URI Mapping. Try finding a problem with the sitemaps or delete your robots.txt file and see what happens.

Re: Ceon URI Mapping v4.x
Sorry to have to ask...I'm guessing this info is out here somewhere but I'm just not finding it.
CEON is installed (1.5 shop) and working fine for product pages, question is how do you update to friendly URL for pages like "all products" and "new products".
