So, your solution is to gripe and bicker about it?
Why not offer something more useful than merely swinging fists?

No one is blaming you.. Without seeing your store's setup I can't tell you why you are having issues with IH2.. We can only share with you what we know based on our own experiences..
Additionally you are reporting an issue that seems unique to your setup.. (ie: no one else is reporting the same issue you are having..) I installed IH2 on a vanilla store and it worked with no issues.. So how would you suggest one go about fixing an issue that no one else can replicate??
The only issues I CAN replicate (and have addressed) are the two issues I have posted about today..
That said, I can make a few suggestions to help you get to the bottom of your particular issue:
It's possible that other modules are interfering with IH2, and would cause the error message you are seeing.. The only way to know this for sure is to try installing IH2 on a VANILLA Zen Cart install.
Let's be clear..
image hover from medium images HAS NEVER been a feature in IH2. It is clear from Tim's code that it was meant to be a future feature, and it's one that was NEVER added.. (which is VERY different from saying it's broken or never works..) It's been explained ad naseum that it's likely that this particular feature has never been added to the codebase due to the likely conflicts with lightbox modules..
and to answer your question:
"why do so many of us get the error:"
Please show me to the DOZENS of people reporting this particular error???Quote:
Error!
Unable to determine the page link!

Dr Byte - you don't understand that I am responding to those who dismiss our concerns about this mod.
Given you have been around so long, I have come to expect better of you. Surely, you of all people understand how free source - and commenting on it - works.
But, go on, beat up on me.
DivaVocals, please just do a search for the error. Dozens have had to deal with this - and, while many have tried to help (god bless 'em), few have met with a solution.
I did look and there seems to be a number of associated reasons for the error, most of these solutions have more to do with image names, and server configurations.. Without more information other than the error message itself, it's hard to troubleshoot this.. (BTW, since most of these posts are not even posted in this support thread it is unfair to assume we've ALL seen them..)
That said if you can provide more information such as:
- The steps you are taking to upload additional images
- The file names of your main product image as well as your additional images..
Perhaps with a little more information, we might help you find a solution.. but honestly if there was a hard and fast answer it would have been resolved.. It's a lot over the top to imply that anyone is dismissing you or purposely trying NOT to help you..
No one's dismissing your concerns, but how would suggest we go about fixing an issue that we can't replicate??
One last thing.. Does your host have safe mode enabled??
BTW, this error occurs places other than IH2.. Which is why most of the posted solutions seem to lean towards outside factors contributing to the error.
Post some of the additional information I suggested, and perhaps a solution can be found..
If you want to test the new IH2 fileset, PM me and I'll hit you up with instructions to access the upcoming fileset..
I've installed it on my vanilla Zen test site, and it works like a charm.
This version should fix the following issues:
- Watermarks on large additional images
- Issues with some hosting configurations not setting the file permissions of the bmz_cache child folders correctly
If you want the boring details about why large additional images were not watermarking, let me know, and I'll share..
You will have to delete your IH2 cache folders for the permissions changes to be applied.. Do not be afraid.. Deleting the cache DOES NOT delete your images (which are still safely in the "images" folder). IH2 will rebuild the cache as soon as peole browse your product pages..
Once I hear back from the code gurus validating my proposed fixes, and the testers who are trying this new version out, and we're all sure that everything is nailed down, I will bundle it up and submit it to the downloads section..
Now I'm off to a vocal rehearsal.. Have a happy afternoon!
Long story short, it's my fault, and also that of the guys who ########## a lot but don't beta test.
The fix consists simply in rolling back to the previous version of additional_images.php in rev. 8 and rev. 7.
I made some minor changes for rev. 8b, thinking on hardening php, since it is a loosely typed language I assumed (wrongly) that they would be interpreted by most servers.
I tested in my limited environment and it worked, so I left it there.
Apparently lots of other environments didn't like the changes, so we rolled back and everything is fine again.
