Most of us don't have access to version 8c. :smartalec:
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
question:
if we already have IH2 installed do we need to instll the newest update to it --- is there anything security wise to make it a must or can we leave well enough alone.
sorry if that is doesn't make very much sende...my mom died last week and I don't make much sense right now.
was just wondering if we need to update a working IH2 for the newest version or am I fine as is.

I'm sure thats one of the things you have been working on and if i had read the previous posts i may have known that. :o)
Said this on the Fual thread.. should post here too..
The exact answer appears to be that the issue with IH2 & additional images is a webhost specific issue based on how php is implemented on some hosts. Like I posted earlier, if you look through this support thread (posts from the last 3-4 days) the details are fully explained.. (You SHOULD take the time to read through)
I think however is that part of the issue is that you did not properly merge the includes/modules/your template/additional images.php files that come with both Fual Slimbox and IH2. Merging the two should resolve any conflicts. This is not an easy job since Fual was written for Zen 1.3.8 and the Fual specific changes are not super obvious. It will take doing some comparisons between the Fual files and Zen 1.3.8 to make note all of the Fual modifications. Then compare that to the latest Zen Cart version to merge in any current Zen version specific changes. Then FINALLY comparing the file to the Image Handler version and incorporating the IH2 specific modifications.
FYI, the current version of Fual may have issues on PHP 5.3 servers as it appears to still contains functions I believe are deprecated in PHP 5.3. (Still need to confirm this when I get around to trying to convert Fual for Zen 1.3.9 for my test store..)

I'm using InMotion Hosting and a VPS server and PHP 5.2.9, if you get any information on what some hosts are doing with regards their PHP implementation i'd love to know so i can contact them and perhaps ask for them to change a few settings.
I expect them to update to PHP 5.3 before the year is out.
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thanks for testing and thanks for the update!!!

Hey there.. It really is an awful lot to explain, so when you get a chance, read through the last few days of forum activity to get the full details.. I realize that some of the posts from the last coupla days were more about finger pointing and insults, but there is some pretty good information once you get past the less than helpful stuff to get to the REAL issue..
Bottom line it's a permissions issue with the bmz_cache folder. This issue doesn't affect all hosts/servers.. It seems to depend on how PHP is implements on different webhosts.
So if the situation doesn't apply to you, then you don't need to do anything.. Frankly IH2 has been "working" this way for so long with no issues that I am aware of (including any serious store breaches) that I leave it up to individual shop owners to decide. That said once we get all the testers to report in, I will be submitting IH2 Rev8c to the downloads section.

Still don't wanna read the last few days worth of activity huh?? I asked the testers to report their test findings HERE in the support thread (which BTW, you would know if you followed the activity from the last few days..)

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
You'll need to speak to your host about their PHP implementation.. I can't provide any specific information on what other hosts are doing.. It's just very clear that some of the issues we've come across in the last few days do not affect all webhosts..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Trust me Diva sweety, I did read the 6 pages of posts that I missed but they are mush in my brain right now so even if it is something we have to update...I would not be able to do it without killing my site.
maybe after I get things straight after mothers death and things get back to quasi-normal I can attempt to read them over again. :(
thanks
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I understand.. Honestly I think you should be okay.. This permissions thing has been in place mostly un-noticed for a very long time now.. So I think you'll be okay for a moment..
Sorry to hear about your mom..:( My condolences to you and your family..
