Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thanks Diva,
So additional images can be uploaded via ftp...how do you specify which product the images will attach to? And what exaclty does zen cart conventions mean? Thank you!
Sorta seems like maybe the easiest way is to just do it the old fashioned way instead of trying to find a mass upload solution that I'm seeking? Thank you.

Not to be the detail police or anything, but this particular topic really isn't related to IH2 support and I do not want to hijack this thread with an off topic discussion..
I suggest re-posting your questions related to Zen Cart image management in a more appropriate place on the forum. Also check out the Zen Cart FAQs if you want more information on how Zen Cart manages additional product images..
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Sorry...the reason I'm asking is because I use IH2 to upload my pictures. I use it for the resizing feature. That's why I asked here.
If I upload it other than using IH2 will the resizing feature still apply? I guess this is essentially my concern.
Thank you.

Understood.. IH2 manages all product and category images it finds in the Zen Cart "images" folder (which is where all product and category images are saved).. It works with the default image code in Zen Cart including how Zen Cart manages the main product and additional product images.
The Zen Cart FAQs will provide you with the information you need on product/category images in Zen Cart. Search the FAQ's (https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php) for "additional images" and you will find the information you are seeking. There are also a ton of posts on the forum which might be of help as well.. You might also look into some of the bulk product upload add-on options if you wish you bulk upload products. I understand that most of these add-ons support making sure that your bulk uploaded products contain the correct image data.
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Very cool! Thank you very much!
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Okay I'm back...
I've been using IH2 to upload my product images. I was looking to be able to do this using FTP instead but I wanted to keep with the IH2 resizing feature.
I've done some reading, looks like if I upload images via FTP they will need to have the MED & LRG verbage built into the image file name so that IH2 will recognize the image. Am I understanding this correctly? However, saving them to reflect MED & LRG to have your site running your images optimally it's suggested to resize each of these MED & LRG files accordingly?
:frusty: I want to have IH2 resize my pictures but I need a faster method of upload that the method provided in admin. Preferbly via FTP. I'm just confused...going in circles over this and it really is my final piece to the puzzle so I can wrap up this site.
Your help is appreciated!

This is only true if you are NOT using IH2..
IH2 creates the medium and small images for you.. You do not need to create medium or large images. IH2 creates the medium and small images based on image settings in the admin (covered in the IH2 readme). So for IH2 to work you only have to upload the largest image when you upload your product images and IH2 will do the rest (create the small and medium images).
Not that I mind helping, but the readme file for IH2 REALLY does cover this in excruciating detail.. if the readme isn't covering this well then let me know and I'll address it..

(again this part is NOT related to IH2 but is a function of how Zen Cart works)
Again.. Yes you can FTP images and IH2 will recognize them.. Upload the largest product images and IH2 will create the small and medium images for you...
However that said IH2 or no IH2, you cannot FTP your main product images and expect that Zen Cart will magically KNOW which product they go with.
You still have to TELL Zen Cart where to locate the image associated with a specific product. Do you have to upload the image when you create the product NO.. Zen Cart has features which allow you to link your product to an image already on the server..
So yes you can FTP your images, but you will at some point have to at least link the MAIN product image to the product.
Hope this all is clearer now..
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thank you again. With all that being said this is why I'm confused.
Images that are uplaoded have no reference to MED & LRG files. Only ONE images uploads. Is this where all the scripting goes to work with IH2?
Sorry, I work off of different computers and my downloads are usually at home on my computer...along with the files and readme docs. I'm not being lazy. I promise! I'm really trying to get a clear grasp on this.

Exactly!!! IH2 does all the work for you..
To get an idea of some of the work IH2 saves you from, read through the Zen Cart FAQ for creating additional images.. With IH2 you don't have to understand the naming conventions required by Zen Cart to recognize images as being additional product images.. IH2 takes care of following these naming conventiosn so that your additional product images are properly named so that Zen Cart recognizes them as additional product images..
That said if you decide to FTP your images YOU must understand how your additional product images need to be named so that Zen Cart will know that they are additional product images.. However, IH2 will still create the small and medium images for these FTP'd images as long as they are uploaded to the "images" directory (this includes subdirectories of the images folder).. Make sense??

Understood.. I just want to make sure that we stay on topic and don't stray off too far with discussions that have no bearing on IH2.. Plus like I said if this is not clear in the readme file I need to understand that so I can make adjustments to it as needed.. I want to make sure that it's CRYSTAL clear, and if it's not I will be happy to update the readme as needed.. Clearly we (rather me at this point since ckosloff is no longer working on this..) might need to include some more information in the readme..

I'm still lurking though.
