Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
I have a small issue with the formatting of my login page.
The page formats just fine when called whilst the cart is empty (clicking the Log In/Register link in the header nav bar)
If the cart contains an item and the customer clicks the Checkout link in the header then the right hand fieldset (Returning Customers: Please Log In) appears offset below the left hand fieldset (New Customer? Please Start Your Checkout Here).
I have played around with the login.css and tried various combinations for the width of .centerColumn , .returning and .newcustomer
Current settings are:
Quote:
.centerColumn {
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 0;
width: 90%;
}
.returning {
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 0 0 18px 0;
width: 49%;
float: right;
}
.newcustomer {
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 0 0 18px 0;
width: 49%;
float: left;
}
It is the same result in IE8, FF 3.6.3 and the latest Chrome
ZC 1.3.9d

Thanks / Frank

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Fix it by editing the width of the floatingbox in stylesheet.css (not in login.css)
Quote:
.floatingBox, #accountLinksWrapper, #sendSpendWrapper, #checkoutShipto, #checkoutBillto, #navEZPagesTOCWrapper {
margin-left: 10px;
padding: 0em 1.5em;
width: 44%; /*47%;*/
}
width was originally set at 47% and the reduction to 44% did the trick :smile:

Attachment 7649
Would I have to change many files to change the format on the cold steel from this..
Attachment 7650

replace tpl_product_info_display.php that comes with the cold steel template with the one that comes with cherry zen.

try deleting includes/templates/cold_steel/css/product_info.css
and see if that makes a difference.

Sorry for the delayed response.
My mom passed away last weekend and I had to travel to attend her funeral. I'll give you a more detailed response when I return home early next week.

Clyde, please accept my dearest sympathy. My dad passed away in 2001. Don't worry about me. I will catch up with you later. Again, I am really sorry. Take care :)

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Hi Clyde, I pm'd you my link. I am struggling with the layout. Overall, I really like the design but on the products page I need a little help with the line up of images..cart...etc. Now, I have tried moving everything around but it really looks goofy. I can post a pic of my desired look, if that's okay.
Also, I am using the latest d/l and your updated version.
Thanks :)

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Clyde, I pm'd the display. Basically, the pics are to the right. I would prefer to use a mouse over click image but it appears that the one here as a d/l does not work so great. I like the look of the pics to the right..the description below and the cart below that. Hope that makes sense.
One last question...are most the addons compatible with Cold Steel..?
Thanking you in advance for your help :):wink:

re-vamping the product info display will require moving things around in includes/templates/cold_steel/templates/product_info_display.php
AND
modifying the associated stylesheet (includes/templates/cold_steel/css/product_info.css
--------
Yes, most of them should work just fine.

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Clyde, I did try moving them around and it looked really weird. To start with the pics to the right...do you have any suggestions?
Ah...not sure where to move the additional images to.
Thanks :)

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Hey, love the template, it's been easy to customize so far. I just have a few questions:
live site: http://usglassdesigns.com/shop
1. CSS Buttons. Styling them is easy, but for some reason they're not dynamically resizing to accomodate the text labels... I've adjusted the buttoncs CSS file, to no avail.
2. Descriptions of products in category view have their HTML tags stripped. This may not be template-specific, but I can't seem to find the culprit after searching the whole site for instances of "strip_tags()".
3. Is there a way to make the "All Products", "New Products," etc. and the default category view look the same? I notice there's a <div> missing in the first two pages mentioned compared to the regular category view, and the layout of the tables is not the same. For now, I've turned off "New" and "All Procucts" because I really didn't like how they looked.
Thanks!

1) I'm guessing that you are using the default Zen Cart css buttons. You might want to try this mod ( www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=272 ). The support thread is here: ( www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19281 )
2) This is the default Zen Cart behavior for the product listing pages. The product description is truncated to (I believe 150 characters) and the formating is is stripped out.
If you want to change this, you will need to edit the following file:
includes/modules/product_listing.php
after making your edits save the file to includes/modules/cold_steel/product_listing.php
3) Since you've turned them off, I can't provide you with a good answer. However, if you want your listings to look consistent, you could try using the " single listing template " mod.
-
Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Wow, that was quick. Thanks, I'll take a look into #1 & #3. #2 worked like a charm already.
-
Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Hmm, apparently I can't (see the option to?) edit my own post.
Played with the CSS buttons mod... edits to the html_output.php file caused everything below the header of my site to not load, but it's okay; I discoverred line ~313 in the function "zenCssButton()"... I'll just edit the "$min_width" variable and I should be good to go. Thanks!
I'll experiment with option #3 next.

Frank, it looks great what you have done. But exactly what is the Single Template Listing?
Also, what addon is "hey look at this...what a match"?
Thanks!

The first 2 lines of this post explains it all - consistency across the whole site

It is the Cross Sell mod - modified :P - and it works well with v1.3.9
Bit off topic - BUT: these mods work very well with Clyde's Cold Steel Template - - I just love his contributions:yes::yes:

I want to be able to add a different image to each sidebox heading...I kinda have an idea how to do it...but not 100% sure.
I can add new names in CSS stylesheet but do I need to add to the php file too?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Sorry, but maybe I've missed something, what does this have to with modifying the contact page?
And we're starting to get way off topic since these inquiries are not template specific.

Adding images to the sidebox headers is covered in the tutorial article I provided in my previous post.
On the contact page, again, what specifically do you want to "move around"

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
I love your template thanks!! I am very very new to this...so please treat me like a 5 year old! :)
I read through most of this thread trying to answer my questions..but am not getting it..
1) I want to center my Logo in the header..how do I do that?
2) I tried to increase the size of the logowrapper..but end up with a big white space..how do I get rid of the white and increase the grey so it is grey behind my logo?
3) I un/commented the sections you indicated to bring up the menus on the top and bottom...they show up on the top..but not in the right location (it was even like this before I started mucking with the logo/header)... how do I get it into the right location? and the footer one does not show up at all...??
You can see what I am trying to explain here
http://shuruba.com/zencart/
I have just started setting this up and working with Zencart..so step by step instructions would be appreciated :)
Thanks in advance!

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Great Template Clyde, thanks.
This is my first go around with Zencart so please ear with me If I am being a fool.
U have a couple of minor issues.
1.) Trying to put a background color behind the Categories heading, no matter what I do i just cant get it happen. I have manged to get background colors behind the other block headers but I cant get the backgrounds to fit the width of the column.
2.) On the latest/newest products, I would like to have the images left aligned and the description/price to the right aligned to the top of the image. Also Is it possible to put a border around the images?
Heres is a site link
here is a mockup link so you can see what I am trying to accomplish
Thanks for any help in advance

for number 1:
open includes/templates/cold_steel/css/stylesheet.css
find the following declarations and make the highlighted changes.
#categoriesHeading {
margin: 0;
padding: 0.5em 0.2em;
background:#016215;
border-bottom:1px solid #5e5f5e;
/*background: url(../images/sidebox_header_bg.gif) no-repeat;*/
font-weight: bold;
}
.leftBoxHeading, .rightBoxHeading {
margin: 0em;
background:#016215;
/*background: url(../images/sidebox_header_bg.gif) no-repeat;*/
padding: 0.5em 0.2em;
color: #fff;
font-weight: bold;
}
------------
For number 2:
This is the default display for the new products "center box".
Since the template DOES NOT touch this Zen Cart Core file, in order to change the display to what you wish, you will need to edit:
includes/modules/new_products.php
Once you've made your edits, save the edited file to includes/modules/cold_steel/new_products.php

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Thanks again for your help, one thing I am still having an issue with is putting a border around the product images. I found in the stylesheet.css on line 1311
a img {
border:1px none;
}
If I edit that and say make it
a img {
border:1px solid;
}
It puts a border around the images but also around any other image that is present, including buttons.
Any ideas how to just add a border to products only?
Thank you so much in advance

Since there are several different areas within zen cart that display product images, you will need to find the various classes id's that handle this.
as a starter just add the following to your stylesheet.css
.productListing-data img, .centerBoxContentsNew img, .sideBoxContent img {
border:1px solid #000;
}

Good morning!!! Run across a little problem, nothing major.
I noticed on main_page=login where new customers adds there info, it looks a little untidy, input forms are not aligning up etc.
I would like like the telephone and the fax number to be same with the input form falling under the name. I would also like the email, password and confirm password fields to all line up the same to.
heres the link

The template was designed to be a two column template and to "drop" both the right and left columns on the login page so that the new customer and returning customer boxes took up the full width of the page.
You've modified the template to be a three column template and haven't dropped the right column on the login page. That is why everything looks squeezed.
You can fix that by opening:
includes/templates/cold_steel/common/tpl_main_page.php
find the following section of code and make the highlighted change.

Why didn't you leave the menu bar in its original position and move the "date" down?

did what I could with my limited programing ability
thought of leaving date off if that would center menu

There are "hidden" menu items that will only be displayed when a customer is on certain pages. This is the reason that the menu "expands".
Moving the menu up won't "center" it.
If you want the menu centered, open the stylesheet.css find the following section of code and make the highlighted change
#navMain {
margin:0 auto;
padding: 0;
}

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Clyde This didn't help I have
/*BOF top main navigation*/
#navMainWrapper {
position:absolute;
left: 265px;
top: 93px;/**************************/
font-size: 1.2em;
}
#navMain {
margin:0 auto;
padding: 0;
}
"home" is at left margin
Thanks

You could try changing the following as indicated by the highlight
#navMainWrapper {
position:absolute;
left: 365px;
top: 93px;/**************************/
font-size: 1.2em;
}

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Clyde On one of my other computers, "view cart" already overlaps date If I increase "left" it will only make overlap worse.

You can always cause the date to NOT display:
open includes/templates/cold_steel/css/stylesheet.css
find the following and make the highlighted change
.date {
display:none;
padding-left:0px;
position: absolute;
top: 95px;
right: 17px;
color:#000;
font-weight: bold;
text-align: left;
font-size: 1.2em;
line-height:normal;
}

You've obviously also changed this:
position:center is not a valid css attribute and will not work.
#navMainWrapper {
position:center;
/* float:center;*/
/*position:absolute;*/
left: 265px;
top: 93px;/**************************/
font-size: 1.2em;
}

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Libertyguy,
Assuming you want your menu links to stay centered when the window size changes, I recommend changing your 'navMainWrapper to...
#navMainWrapper {
font-size: 1.2em;
left: 260px;
position: relative;
top: -30px;
}

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
I've searched the thread and still cant figure out how I can expand the width of the center main content? I've looked through the stylesheet and have changed values, but the text ends up popping out of the gray border lined box in the center. I would like to make it a little wider. Specifically 943px. Can anyone help?

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
not up yet. just running zencart off my computer for testing. i can take a screen shot and host it somewhere if you'd like to see which spot im talking about
-
Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Daster,
The grey border lined box is a graphic, used in #mainWrapper and located at: /includes/templates/cold_steel/images/main_wrapper_middle.gif
It's 917px wide, so you'd need to make that wider to start with.
However, personally, I'd rethink my approach if I needed to make a website any wider than that.

open includes/templates/cold_steel/css/stylesheet.css
check the width setting you have for for the following declaration:
.centerColumn {
margin: 0 auto/*5px 0 5px*/;
padding: 1em;
font-size: 1.2em;
width: 700px;
}

Celtic Thanks this drops text between header and body and on left margin but looks better I'll keep fiddling with it

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
I already tried changing the .centerColumn value and it just moves the text outside the box. Here is a picture of what I am trying to fix. I added a custom footer taken from Rubik Integration template. I want it to align. Also I am trying to get rid of that light gray box inside. I believe its remnant from coldsteel. The red arrows shows the areas I am talking about. Any ideas?

open includes/templates/cold_steel/css/stylesheet.css
find the following declarations; delete the highlighted portions.
adjust the width settings to match the width of the Rubik Integration template footer
#mainWrapper {
margin: 0 auto;
padding:0;
background: url(../images/main_wrapper_middle.gif);
background-repeat:repeat-y;
text-align: left;
width: 917px;
}
#footer {
margin: 0 auto;
text-align: left;
width: 913px;
height:90px;
}
#footerLogo {
margin: 0 5px;
padding: 0;
background: url(../images/inr_logo.gif) no-repeat;
float:left;
text-align:center;
height: 78px;
width:249px;
}
#navSuppWrapper {
margin: 0 5px;
padding: 0;
background: url(../images/footer.gif) no-repeat;
float:right;
font-weight: bold;
height: 78px;
color: #000;
width:619px;

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Hello Clyde been reading most of your responses to the Cold Steel temp. I have would like to know how to remove the numbers from behind the Categories? (perhaps I missed it on earlier pages?) i.e.
Action Movies --> (7)
Cartoons --> (4)
Thriller --> (10)
Thanks in advance!

ps - I know this is off topic, but why can't I edit pages from the admin center (tools-->define pages editor).
It says it saved the edits, but if click on that same page again, the changes aren't saved. Any Ideas? Thanks again!

Hello,
I tried to install it, and after upload, select it and reset, I see the following error:
Code:
1054 Unknown column 'pages_title' in 'order clause'
in:
[select * from zenezpages where status_header = 1 and header_sort_order > 0 order by header_sort_order, pages_title]
and cannot display any page. Any tips?
Thanks

Is this error happening on the zen cart admin or on the main zen cart (catalog)

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
In public section.
I tried to install this in another website with previous version of zen cart and works. Except this, the only other difference is that in the first one is installed the addon "ultimate seo".

Link to your site?
Also have you checked the myDEBUG files in the cache folder.
the query you cited is not a part of the cold_steel template.

One other thing you might want to try:
go to
admin -> configuration -> EZ-Pages Settings -> EZ-Pages Display Status - HeaderBar (set to 0)

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
Thank you clyde for your assistant
On the top off the website there are the following tabs. (dutch)
home | inloggen/registreren | contact | mijn account | mijn winkelmandje
the color of the tabs are white (except for home). when you do a mouse over they become red and the left side of the tab image doesn't show.
only the "mijn winkelmandje" tab displays oke when you do a mouse over.
Regards,
-

You could try the following:
open includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet.css
find the following and make the highlighted change
#navMainWrapper {
position:absolute;
left: 0px;
top: 101px;
font-size: 1.1em;
height:24px;
line-height: normal;
width: 917px;
}

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
That's not it, the tabs disappear.
I want them to stay on top, only the mouse-over color change is wrong. The mouse-over tabs on your website work fine.
Regards,
Martijn

I realize that. but it is taking up space within the same area as you navigation tabs.
that is why I suggested the changes to the declaration in the stylesheet including giving it a width.

Re: Cold Steel Template Support Thread
I have made the ajustment. but it hasn't any effect on the tabs.
I will leave it in place.
Can you confirm that the section in my style sheet from my previous post is oke ?
Thnx
