Re: Easy Populate support
This morning i was trying to see what i could of done wrong and downloaded a new full EP spreadsheet and all the filenames in the image column said no picture.gif .. then all of a sudden it clicked ..
Yesterday i had uploaded the spreadsheet with the filenames in and then uploaded the images so when it saw that the images were not there it obvously changed all the filenames to no picture.gif
Today i have re-entered all the file names into the spreadsheet and re-uploaded it and it all works ok
Doh! another blonde moment in the life of Erica lol

Re: Easy Populate support
Hi there,
I installed the latest 3.0.3 and done a store download. Then i tried to re-up up into a blank DB in my test store and i got this error on all the items:
No existing category provided for this new product
Using - Primary Index products_model - if that matters.
Am i doing something wrong here?
Thanks and as always keep up the great work :)

Re: Easy Populate support

Not a very big problem, but somehow I got 4 (!!) entries in my admin to go to the Easy Populate page. Not every link works, but HOW can I get rid of the not-working entries ? The only one that works is in the other list, underneathe the SQL patches.

Re: Easy Populate support
Similar issue..I have opened a ticket and attached a file at zencartbuilder, no reply there in a few day so far.
Here is some test data of mine that will not work:
http://www.speedtoys.biz/downloads/Book1.xls <--safe data to play with
Spankin fresh 1.3.7 install
3.0.1 install of EP, with the single known bug edited/fixed in code.
And products_id is the index method for this install.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Easy Populate support
Alrighty,
My problem was that the categories weren't made yet. I thought it did it automatically. Couldn't see anything about it in the docs but searched forums on Zenbuilder and found this :-
http://www.zencartbuilder.com/forums...ovided+product
Grab the Demo Categories and yer off.
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Thats.."solved" my problem, but I just wanna say, that unless I am missing something, this seems way messier than the old way of adding columns to define additional category depths.
Especially when I have an three excel files full of categories.
..can only have 65530'ish lines per excel file ya know.
The old way..just made em as you needed them.

Guys, 3.0.3 is the advanced version, and is not supported here. Please post any such support issues on the forum mentioned above - thank you.

Can do..I'll keep it over there.
I know yore busy..but thats where I was in trying to understand the new layouts.
Im sure it will work as good as it always has..once it wants to work with -me- just a little. Will review again the readme file, although..I do certainly miss the automagic building of the metadata.

Re: Easy Populate support
Found the solution to my problem : there were 3 extra entries in the DB, so I deleted them and now it's fine :)

Re: Easy Populate support
It's been a while since I've checked, anyone knows what the current EasyPopulate version is? Is it still 1.2.5.4?
Thanks.
-
Re: Easy Populate support
As far as I'm aware - yes; although you can purchase the Advanced version from http://www.modhole.com/modhole/index.php
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Thanks, I'll check out the advanced version again. Last time I checked it I found it a bit complicated so I just stuck with the standard version.

categories??
Hi Folks! I've finished my database with my details listed in this order:
item #
short discription
page #
dealer net
break qty 1
break net 1
break qty 2
break net 2
list price
date change
category
upc code
url to photo
long description
now my question... what files do i need to tweak to allow me to properly upload my file to zen-cart/easy populate??? thanks!
-
categories (pt II)??
Hi Again. I grabbed the Full-EP2007Jan31-1503 1.txt file and edited it so it read:
v_item_number v_short_description v_page_number v_dealer_net v_break_qty_1 v_break_net_1 v_break_qty_2 v_list_price v_date_change v_category v_upc_code v_url_to_image v_long_description EOREOR
Now, tho, am I supposed to incorporate these list names to my .txt file i am going to be uploading via easy populate on zen cart 2morrow?
i am hoping to get this done tomorrow so any replies to this post or private messages would be GREATLY APPRECIATED and remember you're talking to a complete NEWBIE :-)
Cheers!!

Re: Easy Populate support
You've got this completely backwards!
The headers from EP are essential for it to work, and your database info must fit what ZC requires. Also, the category structure must be in place in ZC before you upload via EP.
Manually add a product to ZC. THEN download the EP file. Then make your data match.
And I'm sorry, but it's 00:30 here and I'm off to bed!

ok i got it backwards :shocking: oops! now, i am supposed to use the headers EP gave. that's no problem. but should i include the headers in my database? or does zc/ep know what ea field equals?
ive already added all the categories to zen-cart. but are you saying i need to MANUALLY add ea product to ZC and THEN download the EP FILE??? Wow.
and another question - are "v_categories_name_3" etc. changeable?

No, just add one product and export using EP so you can see what it looks like in zen-cart. Then using that example, take a copy of your spreadsheet and rename the columns to match zen-cart/ep as well as add columns if required by zen-cart that aren't in your spreadsheet as an equivalent, etc. BTW... there may be columns in your spreadsheet that just don't exist in zen-cart. If that's the case, you need to strategize a bit from there, either simplifying what you are putting online or customizing the zen-cart product tables and layout*.
* that's advanced work and not for the faint of heart.
-
Re: Easy Populate support
so for adding ea product to ZN... am i supposed to add all the details or just a title??
-
Re: Easy Populate support

I would add at least one product to zen-cart the manual way with every detail you can think of, even if you have to make a few up so that all fileds in the template have some value in it. Then you will have as complete an example as possible when you export using EP.

Excel files (mac) create column count error
I am downloading extended store data in easy populate, opening that file in Excel, making minor edits, saving file as tab delimited text file. When I upload and import, I get an error for about half of my product rows, not all.
If I go through the same process using Text Edit (Mac) instead of Excel, everything works fine.
The problem is the limitations of Text Edit. I have also tried saving the Excel file then opening it in Text Edit and doing a Save As, doesn't work.
I have also made sure there are no extra tabs anywhere, because the error message in Easy Populate says there is a column count error. But since it doesn't happen in Text Edit, it must be something Excel is doint to the file.
Any Ideas?
Thanks

how do i export using EP?
answered my own question :)
-
Re: Easy Populate support
I'm sorry I don't know much about excell to offer steps, but I suspect it may be that excell is putting quotes around some fields and not others? I think if you can get it to put quotes around all fields that may help. Others can probably instruct better, but if it isn't in the export options, you may be able to change the data type of all fields to text, so that even those that are actually numbers, get wrapped in quotes when you export.

I've only ever used EP Advanced and don't know how/where it is in the free version. In the advanced, there is a number of links in Admin > Tools > Easy Populate that export different files for different purposes.

Re: Easy Populate support
ok thank you guys f/ the help today! i've made some headway... phew :) now a few extra questions that i am hoping might be answered this weekend.
1 - i downloaded the mod. f/ dual pricing. is there a way to import the manufacturer prices in addition to the product price using EP?
2 - does EP allow for BOTH creating and updating the database?
3 - Can we upload via EP the attributes or do those have to be done manually?
THANKS GUYS (AND GALS). MUCH APPRECIATED! :D

Re: Easy Populate support
I also am having trouble with this. I have zencart 1.3.6, and downloaded and installed the latest version of easy populate (standard)
When I try and download the files using some of the menu selections, it takes me back to the admin login page.
But the most troubling thing, is I can't download my product attributes. Using a "complete" download, there are no product attributes, and using the "attributes" selection, I get an error:
Code:

Re: Easy Populate support
how do you modify EP so you can add extra fields???
-
Re: Easy Populate support
You can't. Actually, that's not really accurate, but you'll probably need a complete re-write of the code.
Why not contact the author (langer)? What you're wanting may be available in the pro version (which is not free, but isn't expensive either).

Re: Easy Populate support
I don't know if you mean the free version or the paid version (EP Advanced). I have no idea how to do it in the free version, having never looked at it. There is a faq for doing it in the paid version, in the support area of the developer's site at http://zencartbuilder.com/
-
Re: Easy Populate support
the website's faq is useless...
anyone's thoughts/help on the FREE version or a promise that the PAID version offers a way to modify fields (incl. wholesale price) would be APPRECIATED
thanks

Re: Easy Populate support
^ I'm wondering the exact same thing.
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57375
It shouldn't be THAT hard to modify the code for whatever other fields you want to update. I can't believe no one else has done this - would be very useful.
Would make ZC much more friendly to those who are intimidated by messing with the DB directly.

Re: Easy Populate support
Today I purchased and (tried to) install....uploaded the files, created the uploads directory, and pointed to it in the configuration file, but when I click admin --> Tools --> Easy Populate, it takes a min and then gives me the following error message:

I posted a week ago, and then others posted, and their questions were answered, but not mine?
I have a new problem too... I tried to download the "froogle" file... it downloaded, but the information is not even for my store! Is there something I am supposed to change somewhere? It took me to a competitor's store when I tried to follow a url in the file!
And I still cannot download attributes, it gives me a sql error, as shown below, and I cannot download by category, or it just boots me out to the admin login page.....
HELP!!!!!!!!!

Re: Easy Populate support
I have an issue I have installed version 1.2.5.4 and it works fine , but in
Config>Easypopulate
I have only Uploads Directory and none of the other values, but I go into PhpAdmin and all the values are in the database and I can change them in there ok, and import files using the new config that I set in Myphpadmin import ok with the new values, I have removed the records in the database and reinstalled the sql file but I still have the same problem
, could it be a problem with one of my PHP files?
grayceworks :- I have a similar issue that from time to time when import or downloading files the browse resets its self to the logon page, I would question what browse or you using IE, Mozilla, SeaMonkey,Firefox? as I have found it may be your browse try other browsers and see if that makes a difference, it did to me!
Re - your other issue try and give us some examples, as Easypopulate should be connecting to your database as it is only doing sql queries on your database, not someones which I think you are suggesting.
-
Re: Easy Populate support
when I try to download using the "Froogle" setting... then I open the downloaded file to view it, it does not show MY products at MY url... it shows MY products appended to some one else's url... as if there was an example url that did not get taken out somewhere maybe? But I don't want to mess with the code unless I know what I am doing... LOL
When I try to download using the filters, such as by categories, it boots me out of admin, and I have to log in again. I am using Mozilla.
When I try to download "complete" it does not show the products meta tags or attributes or anything except the product model, number, category, and descriptions...
When I try to download "attributes" it SEEMs to work, but when I open the file that it downloads, there is the error written in the file as listed below, and nothing else in the file.
Code:
<br />
<b>Warning</b>: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in <b> /hermes/web10/b2369/pow.villadec/htdocs/villadec/admin/easypopulate.php </b> on line <b>140</b><br />

Re: Easy Populate support
Ok... I was using EP2.75somethingor other...
I've now uploaded and installed 1.2.5.4 instead, which as I've read is supposed to be better?
It seemed all right at first, it created the "complete" file in my temp directory, prompted me to clean up a bunch of partially deleted products to clean up my database, and has links to download the files, instead of the drop down menu.
However, clicking on any of the links other than...complete ... causes a "500 internal server error" after sitting there trying to download for a while.
I NEED to download my ATTRIBUTES and FROOGLE files... and it won't let me! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
-
Re: Easy Populate support
correction... I can export the Froogle file to the temp directory, and then download it from there.... I still can't do the Attributes...
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Quote:

The above is the fields you will get from a complete down load it does not include meta tags or attributes(Note the note in Brackets), you have to download Model/Attributes to get Attributes. I think I am right saying this but with version 1.2.5.4 meta tags are not supported.
Download Complete tab-delimited .txt file to edit (Attributes Not Included)
Download Model/Price/Qty tab-delimited .txt file to edit
Download Model/Category tab-delimited .txt file to edit
Download Froogle tab-delimited .txt file
Download Model/Attributes tab-delimited .txt file
I was using Firefox and it was always going back to logon try a different browers, Opera on Linux or IE for windows, I am sure you will fine that does the trick.
I really don't know about the issue, have you got these other url's in your database or listed in the product details, as its got to be in your database to pull the information from, have a look in your database via Phpadmin in you products records and you will see the fields froogle download is pulling the information from.
PS don't use version EP2.75 its broken with bugs version 1.2.5.4 is good!
-
Re: Easy Populate support
I uninstalled the 2.75 and installed the 1.2.5.4... I am no longer having trouble with the code thingy... I am no longer having trouble with being taken back to login... the Froogle thingy is fixed.. sorta.. it lets me export to "temp" then download from there....
I still cannot download Attributes, it times out with a 500 internal server error.

EZ Populate and v_products_description_1
Ez Populate has been working great, what a tool! The only problem I have is that when I enter in something to v_products_description_1 column, it does not import to Zen (the product does not show any description). If I add a description to a product under the admin section of Zen then get the export from EP, it's there. Does it have to be in some other format or field to import? Or, am I missing something obvious?
Here is what I'm currently importing: v_products_model v_products_name_1 v_products_description_1 v_products_price v_categories_name_1 v_categories_name_2 v_products_image v_products_weight v_date_added v_products_quantity v_tax_class_title v_status EOREOR

Re: Easy Populate support
I'm thinking not... However, good idea. I think it's the "insert into zen_products" sql that is the problem although I don't know where it's expecting me to go... I went to my phpMyAdmin and checked the zen_products table and all seemed to be okay.
-
Re: Easy Populate support
I looked at the file and it looks OK, it is updating the first product OK, I could see there was an issue in your original post but not in this file, if you read the error it is suggesting there are/an tab/s in a field. Have you changed anything to do with easypopulate since you entered the first product?

Re: Easy Populate support
ok thanks for those suggestions but what if i want to at least *check* the INSERT INTO zen_products ?? i can't seem to find it in my phpmyadmin. i'm sure i'm looking in the wrong place. if someone could direct me there i'd be grateful. thanks

Re: Easy Populate support
Hello everyone! I'm curious if any people have successfully integrated product types into easypopulate? I'm currently redesigning a bookstore website which has 1000++ products, and 100s of new titles and restocks every month. So an easypopulate + product type is a must.
Way back in 2003 I used oscommerce 2.1 for the bookstore and hard coded all the extra product fields into oscommerce and easypopulate... ugh. Back then, the easypopulate mod was a pain, but ultimately a matter of copy + paste. However with Zen Cart and product types, modding easypopulate is a different animal altogether.
Hope that made sense. Suggestions, encouragement, links, anyone?

Re: Easy Populate support
I have installed EZpopulate Standard with my 1.3.7 store and I am able to download the complete data that I imported using admin, however I am unable to upload anything to the DB. I get a 406 error that says: "Not Acceptable: An appropriate representation of the requested resource /~hotnbott/catalog/admin/easypopulate.php could not be found on this server." I checked to make sure the file was uploaded in the file manager and It is there. What could be causing this problem?
-
Re: Easy Populate support
It could be a permissions issue--check to make sure that easypopulate.php is set to 644 on your server. If that doesn't work, try setting the permissions to 777.

Re: Easy Populate support
Sounds like a mod_security or similar sort of thing. I'd talk to your host / system admin.
BTW... 777 is never a good idea, and should only be last resort.

Ok, non of the chmod settings worked other than 644. Setting the file to anything higher caused an internal database error. I talked to my system admin and he doesn't know how to fix the problem. any other ideas?

A quick google shows that this is not something specific to zen-cart or EP, but is a server issue. Try there and skim a few results.

Re: Easy Populate support
Well, I am attempting my second "stock" install of ZC. Hopefully the new setup will give me more speed. The next BIG issue will be Easy Populate... I have looked at the thread here and everyone seems to be having trouble with EP... It is essential that a program like EP work each and everytime... There is NO WAY to use ZC if we cannot import a store products listing after a minimal setup of a few of the catagories, products and attributes. Getting EP to work without screwing up the database is imperitive.... So bottom line here...
What is the MOST Current Version ? Where do we get it ?
Does it really work ? Safely ?
Hope the EXPERTS will jump in and tell us all the truthful gory details !

Absolute bull! There's always the old-fashioned method of manually entering your products! OK, I accept there may be no way for YOU to use it - I'm only pointing this out for the benefit of the noob who might just see that comment and thinks that s/he needs EP to add a handful of products or they must abandon ZC.
Think about it - the only people who post here on the EP support thread are those for whom things HAVE gone wrong; the hundreds (thousands?) who have no problem with it don't keep posting to say "I have no problem" :wink2:
So, the most recent version is available from http://www.zencartbuilder.com . This is the pro, paid for, and you get support from the author. However, unless there's been some major changes since I last looked, you MUST HAVE your complete category structure in place; EP does NOT create categories for you.

Re: Easy Populate support
Hi! Happy Presidents' Day! :)
I was working just fine w/ easy populate and then all of a sudden i'm getting this message:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/.../public_html/admin/easypopulate.php on line 1996
I have not changed a thing in my .php file since it was working fine earlier this morning.
If anyone could point me in the right direction that'd be WONDERFUL. Thanks

If you are talking about the Pro version, this may be true, but the version I got here DOES create categories if you import a product(s) and type in category and sub-cat names in the txt file...saved me some major setup time, once I figured out how I wanted each item categorized.

Re: Easy Populate support
it looks like the query is missing an end quote
the query reads
products_quantity="20, products_price_w="11.4900"
where it ought to be
products_quantity="20", products_price_w="11.4900"
hope that helps you out!
ps---has anyone come up with a solution for incorporating product types into easypopulate?

Easypopulate Date format Date Expected isuues
Hi there. Having some problems with the date format on the new easy populate. Its making my products expected in 2008 etc. Can someon please clafify the correct date format for excel I have tried yyyy-mm-dd h:m:s yyyy-mm-dd h:m
dd-mm-yyyy & yyyy-mm-dd
HELP!
Once the products are added to the database can I adjust these values or do I need to delete them & add them again?? (that will stuff up any favourites & saved cart references though)
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Date and time format should be :-
yyyy-mm-dd h:m:s
You should be able to import the file again and it will re - import all the dates and times etc.

Re: Easy Populate support
I may be misunderstanding what I'm reading in the instructions, but will removing items from the downloaded product file remove them from my database?
I have this installed, but have been afraid to try it because it took forever to get my database fixed last time I tried to upload products.
Basically I need to know if I'm understanding the functions correctly.
I downloaded a "complete" file.
I made changes in excel, and saved as the same type of txt file as I downloaded.
If I upload the changed file, does it overwrite existing products with the changed items of the same model number? or does it upload everything in the file as new items? I don't want duplicates.
By the same token, if I upload a file that only contains new items, and does not have existing store items in it, will it delete items that are not in the new file?
I just don't want to mess stuff up... lol
Thanks!
-
Re: Easy Populate support
The model number is unique to that product, so if you download a 'Complete' download and then alter one or more products in excel and upload the new file it will update all the records in the file whether they are changed or not. Thus it will give you a 'update' against the imported product. If you just upload a new product this will not remove any products from your database it will just import the new product.
Too delete a product from the database in column marked 'v_status' change from 1 to 9 and this will delete the product using the upload file.
But alwasys back your database up first before uploading new products.

Re: Easy Populate support
Thanks... That's what I was trying to figure out.

Re: Easy Populate support
Ok I am NOT a happy camper, LOL.
I just spent every bit of 3 hours adding 87 items to excel, saved the file as text file required. I then went into the admin section and hit browse for upload. Went to the file and then clicked "Insert into Db". It showed the files as being uploaded and once completed I went to the test site and NOTHING is showing.
I had 3 items already in the db prior to doing this and they are the only 3 showing.
At the bottom of the upload I got this message and I am NOT sure if it is the reason why nothing is showing.
Next to last line reads:
Quote:
UPDATED! - Model: 1:64 SCale | /items/Sr | 1999 Revel | 1999 Revel | | 19 | 0001-01-01 | 0001-01-01 | 30 | 0 | | 2/22/2007 | 3 | Revell | Nascar | Earnhardt | 1:64 Scale | | | | | --none-- | 1 |
Last Line reads:
Quote:
SKIPPED! - Model: - No category provided for this product | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
Any help on this WOULD be much appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

Re: Easy Populate support
The only obvious thing to me is that you don't have the EOREOR column
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Check your txt file that it had categories for the new products as the error is telling you that this line had no category for that product/model
-
Re: Easy Populate support
I've been forwarded to this thread because I asked how to populate a ZenCart site using a .tsv (tab separated values) file. Now, I don't believe this is compatible with Easy Populate but I could be wrong? If not, is it at all possible to import the stocklist.tsv file into Microsoft Excel then export it as a .txt file ready to import with Easy Populate?
I really need to know this and soon!
I have a client looking for answers. I want to use ZenCart because I'm familiar with it and it’s easy to edit!
Thanks!

Easy Populate uses tab separated files - the file extension is irrelevant, and is used by applications to easily identify their accepted files - it has no bearing on the actual file format.
You will need to format any file you use to conform to the column headings and the explicit end of row marker (EOREOR) expected by Easy Populate.
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Ryk,
In reply to yours, I am not sure as to why it didnt show the EOREOR in the ZenCart Admin section, but trust me all 87 lines have it. Here is a line direct from my excel file
Quote:
[FONT=Arial]1:64 SCale[/FONT][FONT=Arial]/items/Jim 028.jpg[/FONT][FONT=Arial]1999 W.C. #3 Car, Stats and Standings Book[/FONT][FONT=Arial]1999 Winners Circle. #3 Dale Earnhardt Sr Chevrolet w/Stats and Standings Book[/FONT][FONT=Arial][/FONT][FONT=Arial]15[/FONT][FONT=Arial]0001-01-01[/FONT][FONT=Arial]0001-01-01[/FONT][FONT=Arial]16[/FONT][FONT=Arial][/FONT][FONT=Arial]2/22/2007[/FONT][FONT=Arial]2/22/2007 11:46[/FONT][FONT=Arial]1[/FONT][FONT=Arial]Winners Circle[/FONT][FONT=Arial]Nascar[/FONT][FONT=Arial]Earnhardt Sr[/FONT][FONT=Arial]1:64 Scale[/FONT][FONT=Arial][/FONT][FONT=Arial][/FONT][FONT=Arial][/FONT][FONT=Arial][/FONT][FONT=Arial][/FONT][FONT=Arial][/FONT][FONT=Arial][/FONT][FONT=Arial]--none--[/FONT][FONT=Arial]1[/FONT][FONT=Arial]EOREOR[/FONT]
Scrat,
Well the first 87 lines I entered are all in the same categories/Sub categories as the ones that were already in the database, nothing different, nothing added.
I am wondering if one of the tables that was filled in should be blank when added and thats the columnh for date added. AS that has a Time in it as well. Alot of the columns that was going to have the same data in I just dragged and then Filled/Down to avoid alot of typing and possibly making mistakes.
omfgsignmeup,
Wish I could help ya, LOL. I know nothing of the .tsv you speak of. Good Luck
Thanks for your replies and I hope someone can help me out on this one. As I only have about 3000 sq ft of Store of Items to add

Re: Easy Populate support
RSprinkel - you might have got one or more tabs in the file open it up again in excel and see if you have extra columns?
-
Re: Easy Populate support
Hi Scrat,
Ok would these extra columns have column names? I have several columns labeled as :[FONT=Arial]v_categories_name_4[/FONT]and so on up to _name_10 with nothing in there.
Also I am supposed to have columns for each category? Reason I ask is I created a Category in ZenCart and it showed in the Cat ID as 9 and there was no v_categories_name_9 in the excel sheet.
Just trying to get info here. Like I said I have a 3000 SF store without exaggeration to add and this is the MOST EASIEST way of doing such.
Thanks Scrat

Re: Easy Populate support
Scrat,
Thanks much for the help. GREATLY Appreciated.
Now if I can get my other issue resolved  I WILL be making the switch to ZenCart
Didn't know I had to modify the product model column.
Again Thanks. Worked like a charm
Ron
-
Re: Easy Populate support
could you please post what you had to do to make it work? what did you have to modify on the column?
Thanks!
-
Re: Easy Populate support
The first column is [FONT=Arial]v_products_model
The model number has to be different ie.
product1
product2
product3
and so on.
Thats pretty much what I had to change as mine was all the same. Once changed it worked like a charm.
Hope that helps.

The easiest fix for this problem is to add a column called v_date_added and populate the column with =NOW() for each item.

Re: Easy Populate support
Is it possible to use easy populate to bulk upload other product information?
I installed a module that allows me to add a separate price that only appears when the product is added to the cart.
I can only add this price manually where you add/edit products in zen admin.
here is a link to a product I enabled the module - I am looking to add the price that shows up in the cart to the easy populate feed so I can upload a separate price for several products at once.

Any help would be greatfull!

it is probably b/c you have an extra blank field at the bottom of your file...
-
Re: Easy Populate support
yellowdaises :- You need the whole product information, meaning:
Quote:
v_products_model v_products_image v_products_name_1 v_products_description_1 v_products_url_1 v_specials_price v_specials_date_avail v_specials_expires_date v_products_price v_products_wholesale_price v_products_weight v_date_avail v_date_added v_products_quantity v_manufacturers_name v_categories_name_1 v_categories_name_2 v_categories_name_3 v_categories_name_4 v_categories_name_5 v_categories_name_6 v_categories_name_7 v_tax_class_title v_status EOREOR
so if you upload a edited product with just 'v_product_description_1' and all the rest of the columns empty it will not import as it does not have a 'v_products_model' to assign the product too. If you just upload with 'v_products_model' & 'v_product_description_1' again it will error as it needs price, category, eoreor etc.
You do need to give all the fields to update the product because if you leave any others out it will overwrite the information in the database. Its is updates all the fields.
So just download the complete file open in excel delete the products that you do not want to update, alter the product field and re upload. ( remember to keep the header ).
Re RSprinkel's problem this was happening as he did not have a separate v_products_model for each product:-
Quote:
product
product
product
should be :-
product1
product2
product3
etc

Re: Easy Populate support
Hello Nicolas,
finally found some time to participate to your tiny little support thread:D
Fine tool, I use it for months now...
BUUUUUUUUT!! Please try to fix the stupid issue regarding the master category.
I am using v1.2.5.4 (have the advanced but don't use it yet)
The master cat is not updated (inserted) in new data import, so I have to do manual work to have this correct.
It is an issue which does not allow other mod's to work properly.
IIIIIIIIF there is already a fix, I appologize  ..could you point me there?
Take care

Re: Easy Populate support
Sorry my mistake, you do not need the seconds this is taken from a downloaded file of mine
v_date_added
11/11/2006 17:54
11/11/2006 17:54
I have this set up for the UK date format in my english.php file
Quote:
define('DATE_FORMAT', 'd/m/Y'); // this is used for date()
define('PHP_DATE_TIME_FORMAT', 'd/m/Y H:i:s'); // this is used for date()
Try and download your full complete txt and open in excel and see what format it gives you ?
