Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I installed the COWOA for zen 1.3.8 Everything seems to work ok (crossing fingers) however, if a customer has had an account in the past and uses the same email, i get this red warning thing saying they cannot cowoa because that address is already in the system. Is there a way to bypass this? Did i miss some instruction somewhere? Any help would be appreciated.
thanks!

That is how it works. If a customer has previously created a "real" account, they cannot use COWOA after that, with the same email address. Why would they want to if their info is already saved?
Now, if they have used COWOA and continue to use COWOA, then that is fine. They should not be getting any red warnings. They can COWOA and then also create an account later and still not get a warning. But once they create a real account, they must always sign in and cannot use COWOA.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I see. Yes some of my customers create accounts and then forget their passwords, dont understand how to retrieve said password and if they get that far, dont understand that they need to change their password to something they can remember after retrieving the password that was given to them to get into their account. See where I am going here? LOL Many of my customers are not as computer savvy as others.
So....what they do is just go to place the order without creating an account. And boom! that red box jumps up at them and they run like little school girls from the big bad bully, never to return.
You know how fragile I am with zen cart :shocking: many of my customers are that fragile with even being on the computer. Just trying to make it as stress free as possible, ya know?
thanks for the info!

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Has anyone noticed this mod creating two entries in the database for the same customer if they use COWOA? Like it is performing twice and assigning a new customers_id each time...

Not for me. I was in my database a few days ago, deleting all of the cowoa customers, and there was only one instance of each of them.

That is why instructions are included to manually install the code into files that you do not want to override.

Install the SQL using your Zen Cart admin panel..
Admin>Tools>Install SQL Patches
Best not to use the upload feature, just copy and paste the script into the large box and then click Send.

The only difference between COWOA and regular checkout is a page called no_account. Customers are entering their name, address, etc. on a page that is not requiring a password. Every other step of checkout is the same. There should be no problems with any payment methods that the regular checkout would do fine with. If its not going to work with regular checkout, than it won't work with COWOA.
Any formatting issues would have to do with your browser or PayPal.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
thanks zombie. I tested in ie and all is fine might be a ff issue...... something strange is deffo going on with the formatting..... Im just trying to figure out the returning customer problem im having. Ill read the documentation a bit more but the issue im tackling is the whole (returning customer email/password) thing. if you can point me in the right direction id appreciate it :) but ill read the previous posts/google for a bit and see if i can figure it out myself :)
Thanks Zombie :)
actually i may have deleted the section to sign up when i was killing paypal express with my axe..... lol. ill work on that.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Just installed COWOA into a test store that was just upgraded to 1.3.8a. Everything works until you fill in the "no account" page information. Clicking continue gives me a blank page instead of the payment information page. The URL looks ok... any ideas?
Test store is here: Test Store Link

I created an account and still had the same problem. Its not just with COWOA. Maybe some files didn't upload properly during the upgrade? It happens all the time.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I'm preparing to install this mod. I compared all of my files to the overwrites directlory. I will need to hand modify three files. The first one I'm looking at is tpl_header.php.
The directions for making modifications by hand shows a single change:
PHP Code:
FIND:
-
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_ACCOUNT, '', 'SSL'); ?>"><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_MY_ACCOUNT; ?></a></li>
-
REPLACE WITH:
-
<?php if (!($_SESSION['COWOA'])) { ?>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_ACCOUNT, '', 'SSL'); ?>"><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_MY_ACCOUNT; ?></a></li><?php } ?>
-
When I compare my file to the COWOA overwrite file I have two references to FILENAME_ACCOUNT within the navigation display piece:
PHP Code:
<!--bof-navigation display-->
<div id="navMainWrapper">
<div id="navMainSearch">
<?php require(DIR_WS_MODULES . 'sideboxes/search_header.php'); ?>
</div>
<div id="navMain">
<ul>
<li><?php echo '<a href="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . '">'; ?><span><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_CATALOG; ?></span></a></li>
<?php if ($_SESSION['customer_id']) { ?>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_LOGOFF, '', 'SSL'); ?>"><span><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_LOGOFF; ?></span></a></li>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_ACCOUNT, '', 'SSL'); ?>"><span><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_MY_ACCOUNT; ?></span></a></li>
<?php
} else {
if (STORE_STATUS == '0') {
?>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_LOGIN, '', 'SSL'); ?>"><span><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_LOGIN; ?></span></a></li>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_ACCOUNT, '', 'SSL'); ?>"><span><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_MY_ACCOUNT; ?></span></a></li>
<?php } } ?>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_SHOPPING_CART, '', 'NONSSL'); ?>"><span><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_CART_CONTENTS; ?></span></a></li>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_CHECKOUT_SHIPPING, '', 'SSL'); ?>"><span class="last"><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_CHECKOUT; ?></span></a></li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
<!--eof-navigation display-->
I'm using the cherry zen template. My question is: will I also need to add in the COWOA logic on that second reference to FILENAME_ACCOUNT?
Another difference between my file and the COWOA version is that the COWOA version has the following code at the beginning of the file:
PHP Code:
<?php
// Display all header alerts via messageStack:
if ($messageStack->size('header') > 0) {
echo $messageStack->output('header');
}
if (isset($_GET['error_message']) && zen_not_null($_GET['error_message'])) {
echo htmlspecialchars(urldecode($_GET['error_message']));
}
if (isset($_GET['info_message']) && zen_not_null($_GET['info_message'])) {
echo htmlspecialchars($_GET['info_message']);
} else {
}
?>
I don't see that as needing to be added in the overwrite by hand directions.
I'm not a programmer so I apologize about the simplistic nature of these questions. I just don't want to cause myself problems by doing this wrong.
Thank you,
Kathy

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I decided to go for it. I added conditional logic for both references to FILENAME_ACCOUNT and I added in the messagestack code as well. I've tested fairly extensively and it all seems to be working. :clap: If you think that approach has side effects I may not be aware of please let me know.
A wonderful mod, thank you!

Can't really offer much help without seeing the site. It could be that files didn't transfer properly. I can't stress enough how often that happens. If you have a web address for me to look at, I can be more helpful.

Adding the code to both instances won't harm anything. I think there are two instances because it has to do with the status of your store.... a regular store or one that is a display-only store. And the messagestack code is necessary for showing errors to your customers when they have entered incorrect info, etc. Adding the codes will not make your shop or cowoa malfunction, so everything should be peaches & cream now. :smile:

First, I must say.... your site took ages to load. Not sure if its just me, but my connection is pretty fast and all of the other sites are working fast. I checked the speed of your site here and you should take a look at it (if you haven't already):
http://www.websiteoptimization.com/s...losfavors.com/
Regarding COWOA, it looks like you haven't installed the COWOA code onto your login page. However, if you type in this link (which is COWOA), it works fine:
https://www.halosfavors.com/index.ph...age=no_account
So you are just missing the button for COWOA on your login page.
Try uploading includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_login_default.php again, or follow the instructions in the install/overrides-writes.txt file given in the COWOA download for the tpl_login_default.php page. You can PM me if you require additional help.
I don't mind if anyone needs to PM for help, but you should really try to do it on your own as often as possible, otherwise you'll never learn. That's how I figured it all out. :wink:

Maybe something went wrong with my download, because I dont have a tpl_login_default file anywhere...

Would there be anyway for it to 'mark' a customer account created in admin so I could tell which accounts are COWOA and regular.

Yes, bluefish created an add-on for that found here:

It adds a column to your customers table and puts an X on all cowoa customers, as seen in my admin here:

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Not sure how many of you have noticed the welcome email sent to anyone that checks out with this module has a coupon number listed for 10% off, which expired in 2007.
Here is the welcome email info:
Quote:
Your Discount Coupon - As a thank you for joining our community, we've included a 10% discount coupon. You may use this coupon once to get 10% off any order, large or small. It is good through December of 2007. The coupon code is '08825bbc50'. To use this code, enter it during checkout in the coupon entry field.
I did a search of all the files installed with this module and in the /includes/language/english/YOURTEMPLATE/no_account.php file on line 39 it says this:
PHP Code:
define('EMAIL_TEXT', 'With your account, you can now take part in the <strong>various services</strong> we have to offer you. Some of these services include:' . "\n\n" . '<li><strong>Permanent Cart</strong> - Any products added to your online cart remain there until you remove them, or check them out.' . "\n\n" . '<li><strong>Address Book</strong> - We can deliver your products to another address other than your own. This is perfect to send birthday gifts directly to the birthday-person themselves.' . "\n\n" . '<li><strong>Order History</strong> - View your history of purchases that you have made with us.' . "\n\n" . '<li><strong>Products Reviews</strong> - Share your opinions on products with our other customers.' . "\n\n" . 'Your Discount Coupon - As a thank you for joining our community, we\'ve included a 10% discount coupon. You may use this coupon once to get 10% off any order, large or small. It is good through December of 2007. The coupon code is \'08825bbc50\'. To use this code, enter it during checkout in the coupon entry field.' . "\n\n");
I hope this information helps somebody.

Customers who choose the COWOA route don't receive a welcome email. As such, it doesn't actually make any difference what's defined in that file. Admin will still receive "a copy" of it though, if configured. That's how I distinguish which route they take.

This is correct. FatGuyinAZ, what you are seeing is a copy of an email that actually never gets sent to a COWOA customer.
-
Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Okay I wasn't sure. I went through the steps as a customer on my test site and when I entered my email address (as the customer) I entered a fake email address. Therefore, when I got an email from my Admin Test site with the subject of: "[CREATE ACCOUNT] Welcome to Values Galore" I thought the system was sending the welcome email to Admin & the customer.
Now that you two have explained this, I can change the define wording to something I can understand as an Admin that this email is for a COWOA order.
Was there something in the readme's explaining this that I missed? I hate to think I am just being dumb.
Thanks

No, I don't think its stated anywhere in the readme. I guess he just figured that when a store owner tested cowoa, they wouldn't use a fake email address and would see in their email that they were only receiving one "account created" email, which is a copy. :smile:

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
After reading all your posts (yes, all 500!) and struggling with my first ZC install, I'm jumping in with something to offer. I hope to make it easier for new Zenners (like me) to use this module with these three items:
1. A consolidated set of instructions for COWOA and its add-ons
2. A combined COWOA/add-ons files for use with a new ZenCart install
3. A display correction I wrote for the Order Steps add-on.
You can download them from the site I'm working on http://www.bpf.org/shop-dev2, top-left sidebar (Important Links). I couldn't manage to make these items downloadable, though I carefully followed the instructions in the manual, so I punted with an EZ page link. This is a development cart, so the template and some other stuff aren't configured yet.
If these three items seem useful I'd like to submit them, but I figured I'd allow my fellow COWOA-ers to pick them apart first, and maybe advise me on the format. I tried to follow the common format, but for the consolidated instructions find the use of formatting makes them very readable.
You can respond in the forum (preferable) or PM me. Thank you all!
This feature was one my client wanted, and after seeing the persistence of J_Schilz in developing this mod and CraftZombie in continuing support of it, I felt confident in recommending Zen Cart.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Thanks for this suzing. I've been meaning to try COWOA but was thoroughly confused by all the issues and fixes discussed here, as well as concerned about its interaction with other mods. Now that there is a kind of summary-to-date, I'll finally be able to give it a try.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Here's an amendment to the COWOA instructions I posted the other day: Where I've used classic as the YOUR_TEMPLATE directory, it would be more correct to use custom or your own template name. This means making a new folder by that name - custom or your template name - at the same level as the classic folder in each case.
The Overrides Chart is a helpful guide as well.
Since I finished the COWOA package, I finally had time to read more about the overrides system, and immediately saw the error of my ways. I think I'll finish reading about overrides before I revise, though, in case there's yet more that applies....

Yes, I tried this once on a test cart. See this post.
You can also bypass the whole login page during checkout. In the cart, for the "checkout" button, you can make it go to main_page=no_account instead of main_page=login. I believe you do that in includes/templates/your_template/templates/tpl_shopping_cart_default by changing FILENAME_CHECKOUT_SHIPPING to FILENAME_NO_ACCOUNT (after you have installed cowoa of course).

Is there any way to get this to work with Google Checkout? When I install the googlecheckout mod the COWOA option disappears. This has worked perfect for me until I tried to use Google. Any Ideas?

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Hi! I'm really excited about this mod. I thought all went well... No so. Today I tried to login as an existing customer and this is the error that I get...
1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ':email AND COWOA_account != 1' at line 9
in:
[SELECT customers_id, customers_firstname, customers_password, customers_email_address, customers_default_address_id, customers_authorization, customers_referral FROM zen_customers WHERE customers_email_address = :email AND COWOA_account != 1]
I've been trying to figure it out. I've searched and searched and the only close error message was on a site that I had to translate to read (not good). Please help. I don't even know where to look.

Well, for anyone else that may have this problem... I don't really have an exact answer but it is functioning properly now. I had installed this on two sites. The first site, I merged all the information into the pages that had already existed. That site worked great. Then I found the list of edits that was included with the module. For the second site, I just used the edits. Somewhere in there, something went wrong. Today (since I had made a backup) I uploaded my backup and then went in and merged the codes. Took about 2 hours- BUT IT WORKS!!!
I wish I knew where I went wrong- since I have other sites to add this mod to but in the mean time at least I have a method to work with!
It's great when things are resolved by 9am- it really makes the day seem all that much better!

I'm no expert... But I have it working with Google Checkout. I used "WinMerge" (A free and great tool- wish I'd had it years ago) and merged the file together. Using the file with Google checkout already in it and added the COWOA code to it. I think (and like I said, I'm no expert) that you really have to worry about:
includes/templates/YOURTEMP/templates/tpl_login_default.php and
include/templates/YOURTEMP/templates/tpl_checkout_payment_default.php

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Hi, finally got this working and all was going well but now for some reason the state/province field has gone, well not gone there's a field there with an * to indicate it's required but no name for the field and no drop down menu like there was before, also the default country is not showing up anymore it just says please select your country.
I have no idea why this would be happening, last time I tried it it was all fine and I haven't made any changes since. Here's a link to the billing info page. https://unique-jewellery.com.au/shop...age=no_account Any ideas anyone?
-
Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Okay went back to continue the test I was doing and discovered also that when I click continue checkout after entering billing info I just get the billing info page again, it doesn't move on at all. Please help?

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I have a bizarre problem - On the clients site with no items in cart - click login - default 2 choice menu is displayed.
Add items to cart - login menu displays 3 choice menu correctly, however 'checkout' and 'continue to checkout' link both display default 2 choice option.
I've uploaded and reuploaded the files from a variety of sources, both by dumping them on there and by hand, so it cant be that. Any suggestions?
Thanks guys.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I tried setting up COWA with FEC and there has been some sort of collision, I don't know which caused it or how to fix this now.
The title tag of my shopping cart now always says Billing Information and the top of the page and all other shopping cart/check out pages now always says "Step 1 of 5 - Billing Information" even when I am not on step 1 of 5 billing information.
Has anyone seen this issue or found a way to solve it or have insight as to the fix here?

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Hey, so far I love the mod.
However I did find one small problem. On my site I offer both merchandise and virtual products. The way Zen cart is set up is you need to have an account to be able to download what you have purchased. Is their any kind of setting that wont allow you to do express check out if you have virtual prods in your cart?
let me know, and keep on rock'n in the free world

How do I remove Checkout Without Account Mod?
I need to disable and/or completely remove this mod from the store I'm working on. :no:
I loved this mod, while I had it on the site in question, by the way, and would keep it except the client doesn't want it because after the first time someone checks out without an account, it asks them for the account info the next time they order (seeing as how it creates accounts unbeknownst to the customer).
Have searched this thread high and low and cannot find any discussion on how this is done. :ohmy: Can anyone help?
Much appreciated! :clap:

When this mod is installed correctly, it does not ask them for account info after they have COWOA. The only time it would do this is if they are trying to COWOA with an email address that has previously created an account. I have been using COWOA from the beginning and have spent a lot of time placing different combinations of COWOA and non-COWOA test orders. I have placed COWOA order after COWOA order and my cart has never told me that I have already created an account. I have several customers who continually COWOA with no problems.
I'm not sure how to remove the SQL, but if you just get the original /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_login_default.php file and replace with the one you uploaded during COWOA, no one will be able to use COWOA.

Thank you for that. It's about what I figured but just wanted to make sure!

Work with this mod.
I really hope it will, and would love to hear feedback from anyone that has used them together.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I was installing cowoa and this suddenly came up when i clicked login
1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ':email AND COWOA_account != 1' at line 9
in:
[SELECT customers_id, customers_firstname, customers_password, customers_email_address, customers_default_address_id, customers_authorization, customers_referral FROM customers WHERE customers_email_address = :email AND COWOA_account != 1]
Someone mentioned it and fixed it before but they didn't know what they did.
The site is http://www.fitnessaire.com/
Anyone have a clue about how to fix this?

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Hi
I installed this mod and when testing it out I get as far as the login page during the check out process. I do see the 'Checkout Without Account' section. When I click on the continue button it takes me to a page showing 'page not found' error. (Custom 404 Error Page with Site Map Sample Text)
I went through the install steps again to see if I missed something but the error page is still coming up.
I may still have missed something, it's late and am tired, so will wrap up for tonight. :frusty:
If this problem is an obvious clue as to what I missed I'd be appreciative for an answer.
Thanks

Help please!! I only sell virtual products!
I installed this mod early on when I started developing my website. This was one of the first mods I installed. I'm almost finished with my website when I tested the downloads and found that COWOA won't allow customers to download products (instant download) unless they are logged in. Once they click the download button, they are taken to the login page.
Is there not an easy way around this? Or does this entail a huge rewrite?? I hope not!!
Please help! :frusty:

LOL

my site is for downloads too! HHmmmm am I wasting time on this mod? I hope not because if I can get it working as intended it would be perfect for my needs.
-
Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I re-read the readme file and it does say that the customer is actually creating an account however the details are hidden and password is not required.
I am not a programmer but if that is the case then logically it should work if whatever file that references the checkout success references those account details before the customer gets logged off.
I used this mod and made further modifications on the login page, took out most of the details the customer needs to input except for email, name, city, country. It would be perfect PERFECT if we can get COWOA to work!!
Please help!!! :frusty:
-
Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
So instead of fretting about changing all the codes, I just disabled COWOA which is just commenting it out from the login page so it won't show.
Then I reworded the whole checkout experience so that the customer will just be entering the details for checkout (when actually they are creating an account).
The only info I require is first name, last name, city, state, country, email and password then they can checkout and download the files.
short and sweet :D

If I may ask.... and maybe you'll answer? :smile:
How did you eliminate street address, zip code, and telephone number? I have no need for these fields but admin doesn't off to disable these. (unless I'm missing something.)
I'm just learning to deal with php.
I see you still require a password so that means at some point one needs to create an account.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I am not a programmer but I learned some tricks and tips while creating websites for our company.
In order to disable the other customer details that you don't need. First you have to get the no telephone required mod. Once you download that, go to Admin-->minimum values and make telephone number minimum value 0. While you are there, go to the other details you DON'T need and turn them to 0 (like street address).
Then open up your includes/templates/your template/templates/tpl_modules_create_account.php
This is where you comment out the customer details you DON'T need. To comment out just put a <!-- in the beginning of the code and a --> on the end of the code e.g:
<!-- commented out I don't need this info from customer
<label class="inputLabel" for="street-address"><?php echo ENTRY_STREET_ADDRESS; ?></label>
<?php echo zen_draw_input_field('street_address', '', zen_set_field_length(TABLE_ADDRESS_BOOK, 'entry_street_address', '40') . ' id="street-address"') . (zen_not_null(ENTRY_STREET_ADDRESS_TEXT) ? '<span class="alert">' . ENTRY_STREET_ADDRESS_TEXT . '</span>': ''); ?>
<br class="clearBoth" />
<?php
if (ACCOUNT_SUBURB == 'true') {
?>
<label class="inputLabel" for="suburb"><?php echo ENTRY_SUBURB; ?></label>
<?php echo zen_draw_input_field('suburb', '', zen_set_field_length(TABLE_ADDRESS_BOOK, 'entry_suburb', '40') . ' id="suburb"') . (zen_not_null(ENTRY_SUBURB_TEXT) ? '<span class="alert">' . ENTRY_SUBURB_TEXT . '</span>': ''); ?>
<br class="clearBoth" />
<?php
}
?>
-->
save the file in your custom template templates file. Refresh your login page and you should now see a shorter version of the login.
The other thing you should do is to go to your login.php file and rephrase the wordings on your login. I put in "Enter information below for checkout" instead of the standard wording.
Unfortunately I can't get rid of the password since this requires some coding..but you can word it to say "enter password (needed to track your order)"
This will work with downloads, gift certificates and pop up invoice at checkout success.
The only other thing I just thought of that would conflict with this is that if a customer tries to add a review and not logged in, they are taken to the login page which is now rephrased for checkout and this might confuse them. I'm thinking of commenting the whole button out and just installing the testimonial manager now renamed review. See the renaming of the testimonial manager here
I would show you a working link of my website but it's currently on my localhost under development and ready soon!!!
Hope this helps! :)

Hi sunflowertami
it does help. Thanks for taking the time. I'll reread again later. I'd like to view your site when it's ready. I always like to see what others come up with for their designs.
thanks again for your time

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Hi, I'm hoping someone here can help.
We've attempted to install this module, yet had little success.
Our site is stored on the server in /1to1music.co.uk
We've uploaded /includes to /1to1music.co.uk/includes (having replaced the 'Your Template' with our own)
Second, regarding overrides, the cowoa code, outlined in overrides.txt is already present.
Third, we've installed the SQL and, finally, set to 'true' the split screen value.
However, when we access our test site the cowoa module isn't present.
Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks
Ciaran

I can't find any products on your site (http://84.51.237.128/index.php) that are not "sold out". COWOA will not appear unless there are items in the cart. Have you tested with products that are in stock?

I was able to get to the next step of COWOA, but couldn't complete checkout because of issues with shipping to my location. So everything looks fine except for the fact that its not appearing on your login page. The file may not have transfered properly or the correct code was not entered if you added the COWOA code manually to /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_login_default.php.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Craftzombie,
Again, thanks for your help. We've re dragged the tpl_modules_no_account.php and tpl_no_account_default.php into the
/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/ folder, yet at checkout there is still no cowoa link.
Any ideas?
Ciaran

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
YOUR_TEMPLATE needs to be what you have defined as your template folder, ex. classic.

I'm not talking about tpl_modules_no_account.php or tpl_no_account_default.php, I said tpl_login_default.php.
tpl_modules_no_account.php & tpl_no_account_default.php are already working, thats why I was able to go to http://84.51.237.128/index.php?main_page=no_account

Thanks, that worked perfectly. In future we'll check to ensure all files copied correctly.
Thanks very much for your help!

I may have a few questions but the instructions look good and clear.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I'm having the same problem with www.liferingtest.com that ciaran121music was having. I can actually get to the first page of the COWOA sequence, but it COWOA doesn't show on the login page. Following your suggestion, I re-loaded tpl_login_default.php, but it doesn't seem to help.
I've been staring at this stupid thing since Monday and I can't see any more; can someone lend me a fresh pair of eyes??

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
@hedera
Do you have split-login enabled?
Admin -> Config -> Layout Settings.
-
Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I don't, Steven, and you remind me that I probably should! Let me go check that.
And that did it! Thank you, I was getting really concerned! (That brings me down to only 2 or 3 show-stoppers instead of 4...)
Thank you, thank you, and I'll document that!

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I have tried installing this twice and am not having any luck getting it to work. I think the 1.3.1.8 download is missing files. I cannot find all of the files listed in the instructions.
Am I supposed to download 1.3.1.7 first and then overwrite those files with 1.3.1.8?
-
Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I did it straight from the 1.3.8 download. I couldn't get it to work either until stephen300 reminded me that the 1.3.8 version has to have split-login turned on... I would at least check that. Once I configured that, COWOA came right up.''
If you already did that and it still doesn't work, I haven't a clue. But I didn't need any extra files.

There are no files missing from any of the downloads. There's really not any major differences between the 1.3.7 and 1.3.8 downloads. Its just a few files that had to be tweaked a little in order for them to work with 1.3.8. The 1.3.8 download is complete with all of the files needed to make the mod work. I have installed both versions on many sites with no problems. The one and only time I have run into a problem with it was because the person had other mods installed that were conflicting with COWOA. Anyone else that had problems ended up figuring out that they were not uploading into the correct folders or their FTP program was not transferring files properly.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
I noticed something in final testing that I'm mildly concerned about. I don't think it's really a show-stopper, but our customer base is unusual, and it may become an issue:
When you enter the billing information and click "enter", after choosing checkout without account, in the header the status changes from "Log In" to "Log Out." At this point you shouldn't be aware that you have logged in. I'm afraid it will scare some of our customers away. Is there some way to make that whole Login status display go away?? I've looked through the admin menus and it doesn't seem to be anything I can turn off from there.

There is a way to make certain links disappear when a customer is COWOA. I've always wanted to add these into the mod, but I have so much going on right now and never could get to it.
On my site, when a customer is COWOA, the "My Account" and "Log Out" links disappear. This is done by adding
<?php if (!($_SESSION['COWOA'])) { ?> before the link and <?php } ?> after.
So take a look at a section of my tpl_header.php file:
<?php if (!($_SESSION['COWOA'])) { ?><?php if ($_SESSION['customer_id']) { ?><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_ACCOUNT, '', 'SSL'); ?>">My Account</a> | <?php } ?><?php } ?>
<?php if (!($_SESSION['COWOA'])) { ?><?php if ($_SESSION['customer_id']) { ?><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_LOGOFF, '', 'SSL'); ?>">Logout</a></li><?php } ?><?php } ?>
I'm sure you can add the same thing to the Login link. I never added it because I felt like the customer would assume that, even though they didn't really create an account (as far as they knew), they were still involved in some kind of "session" with the site. My confirmation page, for example, does not ask them to "Log Out", whether they are signed up or not, it asks them to "End Their Session".

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Beautiful, craftzombie, I'll get right on it! Thanks so much!

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Um, er. I put in what I thought was the correct mod and my entire site has gone blank. Here's the modified statement (formatted for easier read):
<?php if (!($_SESSION['COWOA'])) { ?>
<?php if ($_SESSION['customer_id']) { ?>
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_LOGOFF, '', 'SSL'); ?>">
<?php echo HEADER_TITLE_LOGOFF; ?></a>
<?php } ?>
<?php } ?>
I wish the stupid scroll tags worked. In my HTML editor it looked like everything was closed properly. Suggestions??
-
when I went step 3 of 5, the following error appeared.
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/tobabyvo/public_html/includes/languages/english/checkout_shipping.php:84) in /home/tobabyvo/public_html/includes/functions/functions_general.php on line 44
what's the problem?

I'm not sure. I never tried it with the Logoff link. I don't think it would make your page go blank. The only time that happens to me is when its something dumb like too many spaces or an extra closing tag, etc. Remove it from the logoff link and try it on the My Account link just to see what happens. I am no php expert, so please forgive me. Much of this was learned when I was playing.
-
Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Hmm. Too many spaces?? I didn't think spaces mattered but you learn something every day. I'll play with it and see. But one thing: it didn't just make the page go blank. It made THE ENTIRE SITE go blank; so it was something it really didn't like...

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Hello there, i'm totally noob
Wiki says
"When a visitor adds something to their cart and proceeds to checkout, they are greeted with three options. They can sign in to their existing account, they can create a new account, or they can proceed through checkout without an account."
Its possible to skip this screen an go directly to checkout without an account? I dont want to use the account system for now...

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
Hello Steven, thanks for the reply. I think is working. Now I just have to remove the links for register, login etc.
-
Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod
My attempts to remove the "Log In" header display for sessions using COWOA have so far failed. I can't get ANYTHING with that NOT statement in it to work, and the result is always that the entire site comes up blank, including the home page. I originally tried to apply craftzombie's putting the entire IF statement (as she did for "My Account") in a larger "IF NOT COWOA" statement. I then tried making adding an AND NOT to the IF statement:
<?php if ($_SESSION['customer_id']) && (!($_SESSION['COWOA'])) { ?>
Didn't work. Then I tried with the NOT COWOA statement leading the AND, also a failure. Does anyone have any brilliant ideas? I'll keep trying, but so far I'm rolling snake eyes.
