The quick answer to your question is this, ANY FILES in the "2_Required_Core_Edits" folder modify files that MAY have been modified by other add-ons you may have installed.. If this is the case you will need to use a file comparison program to determine what those differences are and merge the files.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but this support thread is not the right place for providing instructions on how to use a file merging program.. If you need specific help on how to merge files, you should either consult the help file for the file merging program of your choice or post you file merging questions in a more appropriate place in this forum.. You may also want to consider hiring someone to help you with this task if you are still unsure how to go about doing the file merges..

Thanks again DarkAngel, getting closer to a good understanding. One other question. When I come across a folder (bmz_cache for instance), this folder is not on my system, of course, do I add it manually and does it go in the /store or does it go in one of the folders that contains template override (desert_noon)?
Diva, I hope you don't take this the wrong way. I have been spending the last 2 weeks reading enough threads to keep me up at night. I fully understand and appreciate the need for subject matter to be related to the thread at hand, but from the view point of a newbie, it's all related in some way. There are many threads, including this one, that have had unrelated subjects mentioned that, I for one, greatly appreciate because even though it was unrelated, it answered a valuable question and prevented me from having to do 3 more days of thread reading. One that comes to mind is the subject of file naming. Good stuff to know. If I had not read it in this thread, I may never have come across it and made the same mistake a lot have (not that I won't anyway :no: ). That being said, are you the site monitor that you take it upon yourself to harass us poor newbies by constantly reminding of this? :wink: It just seems to me that if you personally would put as much energy into answering a simple question as you do in repeating the same message over and over; this is not the appropriate place speach, this thread would be much more informative, which, if I am not mistaken, is the purpose of a forum, is it not??

But if you go back and look at all your posts about "Please Read the ReadMe File, please, no unrelated posts, etc, etc. This posts amount to at least 5 pages of wasted valuable space that could have been used in answering simple questions.

Filenaming is related since one of the common errors reported in this thread has EVERYTHING to do with proper file naming. This is also why there is a fair bit of information covering file naming included in the IH3 readme file.

I post reminders about off-topic discussion in the name of keeping this support thread from being cluttered with off-topic discussions. The fact of the matter is how to use a file merging program is NOT on topic for this support thread. The need to use a file merging program is NOT unique to installing IH3. A file merging program is a tool that shop owners will find useful when installing ANY mod which contains modifications to existing store files. Detailed discussions on how to use these tools is not an IH3 support topic and therefore any detailed discussion on this topic should be moved to a more appropriate place.. I PERSONALLY put a LOT of time into answering questions here.. I personally put a lot of time into crafting a detailed readme file to make the installation and use of this add-on easier. Why is it considered harassment to suggest that these documents be consulted versus simply parroting here in the forum what's already written in the readme document? If there is a part of the document that is unclear, I am happy to clarify anything that is unclear.

As the readme states, you simply copy ALL the folders and files in the folders to your store root.. (AKA your "/store" folder) The folder structure is exactly the same structure they should be in your store.. do not cherry pick the files/folders.. Copy EVERYTHING over..

It's just that your statement, "simply copy all the folders and files to your store", (and you never mentioned the word root in your instructions) is not, in my opinion a good instruction, it tells a person nothing. As a newbie, yes, it offends me to be contently bombarded (better word then harassed) with the statements in this thread, read the readme, dont' ask unrelated questions, etc. For gods sakes, we are newbies, cut us a break!!! When something is new to you, I don't care how many times you read a readme, you are going to miss something or not understand what the heck was said. To constantly, and I mean constantly, tell people to read the readme file is a another way of calling us stupid. Do I think you should answer the question instead of saying, Read the Readme, yes I do. You said it would clutter up the thread with redundant stuff that is already in the readme. Well what's the difference when you constantly say, Read the Readme???????? That is just as much Clutter! If you would just answer the question it would serve everyone's purpose of learning. And like I said, is that not the purpose of a forum?? If it bothers you so much to answer peoples questions, why are you here in the first place??

You asked some clarifying questions about installation and they were answered. You asked questions about how to use file merging software and when I suggested that you address how-to questions for file merging software to a more appropriate place, you turned that into some anti-newbie commentary..
You've made it clear that you are of the belief that no one should read the documents. They should just come here and ask all the questions they want and the volunteers who DID read the documents should just simply answer their questions.. The bottomline is this is a volunteer effort .. I believe that it's unfair to expect volunteers do ALL of the work for others including newbies.. The fact is the people answering IH3 support questions did read the documents and the information in this support thread. When they had questions not covered in the readme or not covered clearly in the readme they asked questions.. ALL of us here started out as newbies..

This statement tells me a lot. And again I ask you (not that you listened) don't take this the wrong way. I don't envy you with all the "Stupid" questions. It has to be exasperating to hear the same question over and over. And I understand why you say, go back and read the readme. But that doesn't make it right. When you hear a question you should treat this question as though this is the first time it has been asked. Not, oh god here we go again with this stupid question. It is a sign of a good teacher who can do this. I have read more than my share of threads here and there are not that many that are handled like this thread. Most are very willing to answer, like DarkAngel. It is probably the 10th time she/he heard that question, but it got answered, politely without calling the person stupid, go read the readme.
Can you imagine the state of our education system if every professor told every student with a question, "Go read the book, the answer is in there"? What that tells me is that the teacher doesn't know the answer.

I'm not going to continue this back and forth.. Bottomline is you took personal offense to my suggestion about taking off topic questions to a more appropriate place on the forum and blew it out of proportion with this whole "not helping newbies" discussion..
So let me summarize..
I have no problem answering questions when things are not clear in the readme.. When and IF I have re-directed someone back to the readme it is because the question they asked is covered in the readme, and it appears based on the question that they may not have read it or missed it. If the issue is that they need clarification on what's in the readme, I do hope they will post a question asking for clarification which I am happy to answer..

IH3 does not manage attribute images.
