Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hello,
I need a little help with this module. I keep getting a connection failed message.
I confirmed that my google ftp account is active
I double checked that my user name and password are correct and in the right fields.
I use Hostmonsters for my host and I checked with them and they said they allowed php ftp. However, the person chatted with wasn't real familiar with php ftp.
I did set the feeder folder chomd to 777
What am I missing? Do I need a dedicated port or IP. What else could be causing a connection error?
Thanks
Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I checked with my Host and they said I would need to pay for a dedicated IP in order to have connections out. Looks like the only options I have is to pay the extra monthly cost for the dedicated IP or to manually upload the file.
Are there any other choices?

Unless it's pretty cheap to add a dedicated IP you might want to just download the file to your computer and then upload it to Google using their FTP and save yourself a few $. It doesn't take long to upload it from your computer, I have a really really slow dialup and it still doesn't take too long. I'd only get a dedicated IP if you need to get a dedicated SSL certificate or if you need it for a merchant account.

Thanks, I will just manually upload for now and wait on a dedicated IP. This module still has value even if I can't auto upload. It's great to have the feed created so easy
Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I have looked around in this thread but can't seem to find a similar problem.
Admin->Configuration.. doesn't display Google Froogle Config...
I didn't get any errors when installing the Sql patch or anything. I'm sure its just something I have overlooked.
Any takers?
thanks,

SirBuck-
Do you have the Admin Settings with permissions module installed by chance? That could hiding it.

thanks,
if you've got phpmyadmin you can check in your database to see if the sql patch is applied.
go to configuration_group table and do a search: should see something like:
33 Google Base Feeder Configuration Set Google Base Options 33
at the bottom of the search results.

You need to first register a new feed with Google if you're using the XML feed for the first time. On the admin site enter something like cooltech for your feed name and the script will create a file cooltech_product.xml and you will register cooltech_product.xml as you need feed with Google Base. You can substitute for cooltech whatever you want but it will help to not add the .xml to the name since Google Base will append _product.xml to whatever name you put there.
