Re: Image Handler 2 Support
All of your questions/issues are resolved by making sure ALL of your image settings are correct..
Please go back to the IH2 readme and review that all of your image settings follow the recommendations in the IH2 readme.. The fuzzy category image for example is likely because you have image settings which are larger than the actual size of image being used.. (which would likely make the image fuzzy) my guess is that you do not have the correct "proportional images" setting..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I'm getting this trying to add additional images: Error: unable to determine the page link! Function used:zen_href_link(",",'NONSSL')
I found similar forum reply here:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...+link&page=576
In the noted case it was to do with an apostrophe in the name of the image.
In my particular case I have a + sign in the title, which corresponds to a product size, as in M+ for Medium Plus. In the product listing I use + for the sign as that doesn't muck up my Ceon SEO. In the main photo name I've used the actual + sign.
When I get the error message in the IH window I am, at the same time, getting a 'file successfully uploaded' message up top of the zen main window.
I don't use a lot of additional images. And I just happened to updge to IH 2.8d yesterday, on zc 1.3.9h; many mods including Zen Lightbox. Everything else seems to be working ok after the update.
Is there a symbol I could use in the hack on page 576 to make this annoying little plus sign play nice?

by chance did you merge files that matched together? it looks like something did not get either copied over or not commented out.

I don't see what it is you are talking about.. It would help if you could explain what you mean by "background description"

Hi Diva---
go here please: http://thearmysurplusstore.co.uk/sho...roducts_id=176
hover over the image to see code at bottom of browser window--see example shot
then click on the image to view larger.....
pop up comes up small so need to grow it to see image and right above it in the black part you can see the code peeking out and
also near top of browser window

Nothing to do with IH2
Its to do with the javascript you have added
to display a seal in the corner "images/seal1.png"
You have left some text in that you shouldn't have included
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Just what I was getting ready to say.. Not an IH2 issue.. and before matelots asks... I have NO IDEA how to fix this.. this need to be asked elsewhere on the forum..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Installed IH2, am in the process of configuring it, and I have some questions.
In the ReadMe, it says this:
Quote:
For small image hover to work on the product listing pages:
- All Products
- New Products
- Featured Products
- Special Products
the following settings must match the
Small Image Width and
Small Image Height settings:
- Subcategory Image Width
- Subcategory Image Height
Question: What is the difference between Subcategory Image width and Top Subcategory Image width?
Question: How are Top Subcategory images treated by IH2?
Question: If the main feature of IH2 is to be able to only have to upload one image per product, would that mean I would want to upload my largest image in order to have it appear with the zoom feature? And then IH2 would shrink that image down to the size settings I config in the admin?
Question: How does this alter my use of _LRG in file names and the use of the _LRG image folder? i.e. right now I have my normal size image in my main image folder, and my larger sized for zooming using Zen LB in the _LRG folder with the _LRG filename extension.
I'm not sure what kind of changes to make to my existing image filing process.
Thanks in advance for the help
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Also, forgot to say that I also have Zen Lightbox installed, so how will that be affected in terms of this question (copied from above post)? I understand from the ReadMe that these mods are compatible.

i have both installed too and when i did not the store just grew the image itself when I added mine
but with IH2 I upload via the manager or in the product/category area [clicking the little pink i] the original large size then the software resizes it to fit the two sizes smaller that I have set in the images control center.
when adding the images the IH2 software part does its own thing...renaming and sizing to settings

Thanks for your reply
That's what I thought in terms of going forward...but what about my existing images? Do I need to dump them and reload through IH so they're no longer set up with the regular size in the main image folder and the larger size in the _LRG folder?
Since I've only installed a dozen or so products for testing purposes, it wouldn't be that big of a deal if I have to do that.
IH2 doesn't affect my category and subcategory images does it?

Dump all the images in the images folder, replace them with the ones from the _LRG folder.. No need to put images in the _LRG folder with IH2.. IH2 takes care of creating the small and medium images based on the largest image and the admin configuration image setting..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
my turn...
my store fantasiesrealm.com/market is running 1.3.9h and the IH2 v2 rev7---yup the older version
it was working in google chrome showing the pop up images near the actual image like it should as in Firefox...now it doesn't
I can not seem to find the fix that allowed it to work anywhere.
Will updating this version to the one that is offered now make it behave right in google chrome?

*******UPDATE******
I went ahead and updated to the 2rev8d, needless to say I broke my test store cause the hover worked but not my lightbox
so after finding the twin files I merged them and I am so happy. LB and IH2 are coexisting once more on test and live store and YES it made Google Chrome behave also so that the pop up image is beside the additional/image showing at the time.

While there is indeed no need, you can still use the _MED and _LRG images if you want to. If they exist, IH will not kick in. I have some items that i like to have a diifeerent image for large as for medium and that is still doable this way.

I understand that.. and it's not what I meant in my reply.. But in regards to do you need these folders to use IH2 (which I believe was the heart of ScriptJunkie's question), then the answer is indeed no..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi
Can anyone tell me if Image Handler 2 will have a detrimental effect on my images showing up on Google Image search results aimed at specific image titles?
Having just installed IH2 I notice that when a page source is viewed the image url name is based on the cache name, previously my SEO friendly image names were displayed, and I presume detected by google.
Hope this makes sense..........

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I still have not been able to fix the url error for my image cache.
http://themustardseedworkshop.com/in...roducts_id=259
the url is missing the / from
http://themustardseedworkshop.com/bm...ge.550x550.jpg
I tried reinstalling clean version of zencart in to the root folder (yahoo host), and then installed only the IH2. All configuration files were what zen cart intalled suggested. No other configurations were done except renaming the admin folder.
Any idea which direction to look at next. I did ask advice from zen cart forums, but their response was that the issue is somewhere with IH2.

Have you altered IH in anyway from the distributed package that is available on here (as i have never seen this error before, and can't work out what in that package would cause it)
Do you have any other alterations as it is NOT just the / at the end of the bmz_cache file that is missing, all the slashes are missing,
this is the generated url you show above
Quote:
bmz_cacheaa9cdcb88a1c7175c4790b52f86cd60cb.image.550x550.jpg
this is what it should be (notr the 2 slashes that are missing from the above)
Quote:
bmz_cachea/a/9cdcb88a1c7175c4790b52f86cd60cb.image.550x550.jpg
you don't have any rewriting mods etc in your .htaccess
If i didn't know better, i'd say that some sort of stripslashes replacement was running on your link.
Can we get a link to the test version that doesn't have lightbox running on it (you did install lightbox after IH? as lightbox includes code to allow them to work together)

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
It generates a lot of files in bmz_cache,it cause some problems when more than 1024 files in Godaddy host,What can I do for this issue?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Quick question - I've made a lot of changes to my images (renamed, changed file type <i.e. from .png to .jpg>, optimized for size & load time, moved them around, etc).
Should I delete the image files saved in the various folders inside bmz_cache?

If it generates a LOT of files, theis must mean you have a LOT or product images..
GoDaddy is not a recommended host for any dynamic content application (which Zen Cart is).. You need to consider a host which supports e-commence and other dynamic content better..
Which host to use is a topic for another thread NOT this support thread..
Good luck..

The reason I ask is because from time to time, some older images are being return on browser reload even though I clear my browser cache after making changes to my store.
This is quite likely a result of my extremely slow internet service rather than a cache issue for IH2. But I'm thinking clearing out the bmz cache folders will help me see my image changes faster and more consistently.
I just want to make sure that before I do this, that nothing else re: IH2 will be affected.

Anytime you make LOTS of changes to images, you should clear the image cache just so the changes are captured.. Doesn't hurt anything to clear it at all.. Your originals are safe in the "images" folder.. The image cache is built from your original images..

I found that in the bmz_cache fold, there just some file like 0-9&a-f.Could any change can generates more files that like 00-99 or aa-zz,I think if more files to generate to put the images cache in,it will deal with it?
Am I right?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Two items:
- Where does one change the background settings - wait for it - for the pop-up window? The ones in the admin only affect the product pages. And yes - I scanned multiple threads looking for the answer... to no avail. :frusty:
- Since installing IH2, I can no longer click the 'browse' to add an image when I'm editing a product, and click on the 'insert/edit image' button. The dialog box pops up, but it doesnt allow me to browse when clicked. If I put something in, say 'fez.png' and say OK - it's trying to find it in my admin folder/fez.png ...
Any ideas? :D

IH2 - Not working for 1 category only
ZC 1.3.9f
IH2 rev 8
Every (?) category in our store works fine with IH2 except 1. Not sure what's special about this category. All other categories' images link to the bmz_cache images but the sick category points right at the images folder - so nothing is resized. The popups work - but display correspondingly ginormous images.
Help! I've scoured the threads for this - but either it's not here or I missed some key words or something. It's late and I'm about to turn into a pumpkin.
Please PM me for URLs. I'd rather not post the store online.
Thanks a ton.

Not sure why.. Nothing in the IH2 fileset would cause this particular issue..

I tried to post this last night - got lost. The category thing is a coincidence. I found products in other categories where some products in a category worked right and others did not.

The hover over pop-up IS DIRECTLY the result of installing IH2. Perhaps I wasn't specific enough...
When the hovering box appears, it has to be generated from something that IH2 is doing, and pulling from - as far as assigning a background. The question is where is this background RGB being assigned? It's not in the Admin - Images area, as those command lines are for the general/product pages.
AND, if it is in a file as code, why is it not an Admin variable? I can't be the only store with a background of 102:51:51 ! *chuckle*
Thanks

I assume this is in the javascript, but can't say where.. Hopefully someone will come along and pitch in an answer/suggestion..

Short answer: because it never has been an admin variable.. In the six year history of this module, NO ONE has ever mentioned this or indicated that it SHOULD be an admin variable.. Not sure if there are any immediate plans/need to make it one now..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
OK... tracked the "Background issue for the hovering pop-up" issue down, and maybe if someone else can use it, great.
It's the "trailimageid" in the includes/templates/YOURTEMPLATE/css/style_imagehover.css
There ya go...
Have fun.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
If nobody has an answer on this I'll slag through everything and figure it out, but I would assume from some comments and posts it's already been done by someone, somewhere and I just can't find it.
I want the hover image to display a full sized image (the original image) everytime a user hovers over a product image, not a medium or small version.
How can I accomplish this?
I remember reading a hack a few weeks ago when I first messed with this plug-in regarding IH2 not doing this and some workaround, but I could not get it to work.
Any help/links/leads to this end are greatly appreciated.

Could it generate more folds to save the images cache?let every folds keep images less than 1024.
Does it help?

I'm sure it could (I assume by "folds" you mean FOLDERS???), but the REAL solution to your issue is to find a host who is better suited to host your site..

I had the same question as you did and was not able to find the answer with my poor search skills. Based on the fact that it did NOT work the way you did it, I renamed that folder template_default since the subfolder structure in the install matched those of the one on my site.....
Anyway, it worked.

Anyway, it worked.
I am entirely unsure what you question is or what the issue was.. I will say this.. renaming the YOUR_TEMPLATE folders to default_template is INCORRECT.. (and just because it worked doesn't mean this is still not the wrong solution) Your should never over write any of the default template files with what should be a template override.

Really basic question about installtion. Just downloaded files, and following the install instructions, renamed the admin folder, but when I get to renaming the template, I find a classic folder, template_default, and YOUR_TEMPLATE. I use the classic template that came with Zen, contemporary green.
Question is, do I rename YOUR_TEMPLATE contemporary green? If I try to rename it classic, it of course says that folder already exsists.
daltonkost - Post 4699
Ending up renaming YOUR_TEMPLATE to classic, and merged the two folders. Uploaded via ftp the entire store root folder to my root directory, per read me instructions, opened admin, no menu choice to install image handler. Deleted store root folder from my root directory and will wait for some direction.

LRS, this is a mistake. What you have done is overridden original zen cart files that must always remain intact and unchanged so that they are available for restore in case you make a mistake, and also because when you upgrade your zen cart, any changes you've made to them will be wiped out.
This is not an Image Handler (nor any mod) installation issue/question. It is more about the basic understanding and operation of Zen Cart. The solution for both you and dalton is to uninstall Zen Cart and do a fresh install. Then, before you install any mods or make any customizations, do the following:

The Override System Really Simplified
How Do I Set Up The Template Overrides?

Zen Cart employs a file override system to protect some of the files that you make changes to (or are changed for you when you install a mod) in the event of an upgrade. This system also protects your original files in case you make a huge mistake - which you have done here, and which I myself have done on many an occasion <grin>.
It is absolutely crucial that you understand and utilize the override system. Many new zen cart users understand the concept once they read about it, but will often struggle with how to implement and use it. If you encounter this, there are tons of threads on the forum to help you. Having said that, here's a tip to get you started in the right direction, based on your posts/questions above:
On the forum and in mod installation instructions, you will often see reference to "YOUR_CUSTOM_TEMPLATE" OR YOUR_TEMPLATE". This is the general name used to refer to a set of folders that you yourself create and name. Since everyone names them something unique...in order to refer to them globally, they had to be called something that everyone would understand refers to a specific set of folders, so "YOUR_CUSTOM_TEMPLATE" and/or "YOUR_TEMPLATE" was born.
How do you create these folders? What do you name them? Where do you put them? What files do you put in them? What files don't you put in them? Can every file be overridden?
All of these questions and more are answered in the tutorials and tools that I posted above. If you have any questions, please locate the threads addressing the override system and post them there
If after all of that, you still have questions about Image Handler, this would be the appropriate thread to post them to.
Good luck

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Very happy to help :) Especially on something that I struggled so much with when I was new to Zen Cart. For some reason, the override system was challenging for me. But thanks to all the helpful people here on the forum, it wound up becoming one of my favorite things about zen cart! It's nice to be able to give something back :)

Guide you to what?? You DON'T want the watermark?? (not sure I understand what it is you are asking here) If you don't want the watermark, then turn it off in the settings (see the readme file if you need guidance)

you have lightbox and image handler installed...did you happen to remember to merge--I think it is the additional images file...
there is a file that needs to be merged which both share so that could be the problem...compare both zips folder to find out for certain which file is the matching one then merge them together by adding the lightbox code to the IH2 file.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
This must be the largest thread on the forum. I must admit I have not looked at every post. There is obviously much interest in this contribution. I personally want to be able to use this tool.
I seemingly had no problems with the install. I am using the most current version with Zen cart V3.1.9h. I had all of the default Zen cart Demo files installed along with my own template, files etc. I adhere strictly to the override system to the extent possible.
I have a few mods but most all the files are stored in my-template folders.
Several Image handler install files are Admin so they have been installed in my default Admin files. I have a new folder, Uploads installed in Host/Htdocs/Zencart/.
Before the install of Image handler 2.0 I had no product images except the default Test/demo images and icons.
I installed. The zoom feature works. I uploaded about 100 product images.
Here is where I am confused. most of the test/demo files are neatly organized in their respective sub folders. I could only install my product images in the main images directory. The images now appear except there are no files in the med or large folders and I have no Large image display, only the path and a red X. I am now also missing most of the Zen cart test/demo images and some icons.
Something either did not get installed correctly or there is a problem with the program.

I ALWAYS suggest reading/search through any module's support thread.. Great way to know all the ins and outs of the module..

Sounds like something was not installed configured correctly and without the usual compliment of information we ALWAYS ask for in this support thread (link to the a specific product where the issue you are reporting can be seen -- don't make us dig through your whole site ). Without seeing this issue it would be nothing but wild guesses to know what the specific issue was..
I've quoted other posts in this thread with information you might find useful to troubleshoot the issue and to help you understand how IH2 works (and why it does NOT use the _MED or _LRG folders)

In fact a shopowner doesn't have to worry about this at all.. If they upload a main product image named flower.jpg, and three additional images named tulip.jpg, daisy.jpg, and rose.jpg, IH2 would correctly rename all the additional images to the proper naming convention required for them to be recognized as additional images by Zen Cart. So using my example, IH2 would rename tulip.jpg, daisy.jpg, and rose.jpg to flower_01.jpg, flower_02.jpg, and flower_03.jpg.
IH2 takes the name of the main product image and then appropriately names the additional product images so that they are linked to the correct product.
The MOST common reason for additional images to not appear on the product when they appear in the IH2 admin has EVERYTHING to do with using mixed image file fomats for the main and additional product images.. You cannot have a main product image be a JPG while the additional product images are another file format (say GIF or PNG for example)
So the way for this to work correctly is that you must make sure that the main product image and all additional images uploaded MUST be the same filetype.. (I do believe this is covered in the IH2 readme documentation..)
and by the way you cannot "fool" IH2 by simply changing the file extension of the additional images.. If the main product image is a JPG, then you must convert any additional images that are not the same format to the correct matching format.

Yes you are right, I have both programs installed.
What code DO I need to copy and where to put? OR I need to copy all code to one of the file of IH2?
i dont have any background of programming or etc..

You don't need to know how to PROGRAM.. but you will need to understand how to merge the files that both IH2 and the lightbox have in common so that you have the code BOTH modules required to work.. It isn't about picking one over the other.. You need the code that BOTH modules required merged where the two share common files.. You need a file comparison program like Winmerge or Beyond Compare..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
one of the file is in:
includes>modules>your_templates_folder>additional_images.php
what I did was open them both and compared the files then when I came across the zenbox cod I copied it to the IH2 file....saved then reuploaded it to the folder on the server.
remember to work off a copy of the file NOT the original and I try to put a ~ at the end of the original ones name [additional_images.php~] on the server to have it there should the edited one misbehave the I just remove the ~ after deleteing the edited one...that way I don't kill my store too much

How do you go about customising the watermark ?

Short answer: You will need to create a transparent PNG file in roughly the same size as the watermark PNGs which come with this module. You will need an image editing software capable of creating transparent PNG files.
Suggest doing some general web searches on the topic if you require more details on HOW to create transparent images. Truly, a full blown discussion on how to create transparent PNGs and the right software to use to create them (along with explicit step by step instructions of the process) is very much off topic for this support thread.. See if these links help..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi,
Can't seem to locate a fix for this.
I have ZenCart 1.3.9h installed with zj_silver template, image handler2 and Zen Lightbox.
Everything is working fine but when you mouse over a pic the page displays http://teslacorp-rd-inc.com/images/error_on_page.jpg at the bottom left hand corner.
http://www.teslacorp-rd-inc.com/Zen/...products_id=24
Anyway to fix this?
Thank you.

Hi,
I'm using IE 8 and I get this error so I guess it's a brainfart in the browser.
I won't worry about it then.
Thanks for your responses, much appreciated.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
That's just IE being IE. I see that error for your site whether or not I mouse over any images (only in IE, not in FireFox). I get similar errors on my site in IE but when I run the site past a validator, there are no errors to be found.

I figured that this was some sort of IE error (which BTW, I don't see the error in IE either).. Given that it's not showing up for everyone and it only happens in IE, I stand by my original gut thought that whatever this is, it's not caused by IH2..
ETA: Dunno what's going on with tesla1's site right now, but it's loading SLOW as he!! and it not loading completely..)

Agreed it's not IH2 - I've had that on my site when viewed in IE since IE7 was released, and it has remained with IE8. It's interesting though, that not everyone with IE8 sees it. My take on it is: If a site passes validation, who cares with IE says? I consider it an "impossible to please" browser. :yuck:

I discovered that the JS and css files where not in the proper folders. I added them to my zj_silver folders and everything is fine now.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi,
Is there any way to turn off the IH2 popup function for the categories only as I only need the IH2 functionality for my main index page and side boxes as I use Zen Magic for my categories and main product images and unfortunately that mod does not function for the small images. I have searched this thread but did not find anything. Many thanks.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hello all!
I was hoping that someone can help me with this. I'm working on Zen Cart v1.3.9h and I recently (and successfully) install Image Handler2. I'm trying to figure out how to move my additional product images to appear directly below the main image. Is this possible, and if it is, can someone point me in the right direction on how to do this? I really appreciate your help. Thanks!

This question is unrelated to this thread, which is for ImageHandler2 support. What you're looking for is help with customizing your template. Check out this thread.

It's not that IH2 doesn't work because there's something wrong with IH2.. IH2 isn't working because there is something different between the your test and live store's configuration and this difference is affecting IH2's behavior.
Since both stores are on the same server the most likely causes are any files which include file path data (.htaccess or configure.php files)
You may need to consider hiring someone to help you get this all straightened out..
Unfortunately I think it is a problem reading the file, since the configure.php file and htaccess are right, if anyone knows where HI is to read files created in bmz_cache maybe get it to work thanks

Your original post was sooooo long ago that I think you are going to have to refresh the communities memory on what your original issue was..
I vaguely recall that IH2 (not HI) worked in your test store and not your production store.. or vice versa... and I even without seeing the issue I still stand behind my original post.. If IH2 works in one environment and not another, the issue has EVERYTHING to do with how the non-working environment was setup.. You will need to do a serious file by file comparison to figure out WHAT'S different in the non-working environment.. This isn't being cause by the IH2 module.. IH2 is a straightforward install and time after time it's been demonstrated that most causes for it not working can be traced back to one of two things:
- The server environment does not support the minimum requirements for IH2 (GD installed NO SAFE mode)
- Incorrect install

What else do I need to do?
First off that link goes to a product with only one image. An additional image would be some showing at the bottom of the page NOT the main image, like this:
http://fantasiesrealm.com/market/ind...roducts_id=428
those when hovered over like the ones in the new, all, featured listings and blocks will have a hover image to show.
The one you sent us is the main product page image and it won't have the hover effect, to get the larger size one needs to click it or install lightbox.
Here are my settings, if I recall I read somewhere...maybe the readme for ih2, that you do not have to set the size for both width and height but to DO set the width.
I found on my sit that all those I show you that are exactly alike is what made it behave on my site...so give it a try and see.
Oh yes and IF I misunderstood you...which happens and you meant there are supposed to be smaller images at the bottom of that page...make sure you have "like" images...if main image is .png then additional images for that product need to be .png---.gif=.gif---.jpg=.jpg
no mix and match or the software won't show you a darn thing...lol

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
FORGET the above post except for the part of sizes and extensions...
I read your view source for that page and i see no mentin of the image hove jscript at all
please go through your zip file contents and the server...folder by folder and verify you have indeed uploaded each and every file into its proper place in both admin and main includes folder.
maybe one got corrupted on the way up or you missed it totally...possibly stuck it into the template fodler and not your template folder/jscripts

My additional images and image hoover do not work. See problem here:

This is a new cart and this is the only mod downloaded.
I can go to the IH2 admin and see that the images have been created-- including the ones for the additional image. I can view source and see that they are being read from the bmz_cache. I changed the permissions to 777
Angel is right you do not appear to have all the IH2 files installed in the correct locations.. The JS and CSS files are missing.. Please review the IH2 readme again.. Make sure you follow ALL the instructions (in particular the ones which tell you to rename all the YOUR_TEMPLATE files to match the name of the folder where your site template is found).

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thanks for such quick answers! I am comparing files now.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
OMG! part way there!! The hoover is working-- very nice!
I did read the read the readme file-- I took all four folder and dropped them into the root folder and held my breath while everything overwrote.
Problem was that I did not get MYTEMPLATE spelled correctly.
I have corrected this and moved files over. Under includes/templates/mytemplate/css I now have two files: style_imagehover.css and stylesheet.css.
But, my additional images at the bottom are still not showing. What else do I need to look at ?

My guess is that this is not caused by IH2, but by your template which has somehow modified the code for additional images..
You might need to post a new thread to get assistance with this or simply contact the template owner to see if you can get them to help you figure out why additional images do not display..
Another possible cause could be that all of your product images are not the same file format.. (this is also covered in the readme..)

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Diva, you and DarkAngel have been great. I have gone back and checked everything again. All my images are jpegs, I caught that explanation in the readme file!
It's not going to be possible to ask the template owner who is halfway around the world with a phone number that is disconnected. Getting the file was an adventure filled with coincidences. I like the simplicity and elegance of this template and will only need to change a few font sizes to be happy with it.
The first try the site actually showed additional images at the bottom. It was also showing the main product image as an additional image... and nothing would zoom, just remained the same size when clicked. I don't think I did anything except try changing some of the settings.
