You can use the developers toolkit in admin--tools to find out which files you need to edit.

i removed the image slideshow because i didn't want to use it but now i think my site will benefit from it.
trouble is, i don't remember how i removed it in the 1st place..please can you help me set it back up

If you removed files you need to download the template package again and upload these files:

includes/modules/pages/index/jscript_easySlider.php
includes/languages/english/html_includes/andover_modern/define_main_page.php
includes/templates/andover_modern/images/slide1.jpg, etc .

thank you :)
although i have the files in filezilla, they're not in the admin section :'( is there anything i can do about that?

There are no zen cart admin files for the slideshow. They are all store files.

You are confusing the define pages editor with admin files. You can edit the slide show in the define pages editor, but it is a template file and not an admin side file.
