Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
My Google Base feed was accepted despite having sub categories in the product_type as well...!!!
Anyways, we should still try to create an update to the product listing that has a hidden field called product_type so that we can 100% avoid this situation.

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Okay I am all set to go and I go to upload and it says it can't log me in?? I have checked my password and login email that I use for google checkout, is it the same?

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Hi everybody,
I have been searching and searching these forums and can't find anything about my particular problem regarding this contribution.
I uploaded this contribution following ALL of the directions supplied and went into the control panel and everything is there and seems to be working but when I go and try to upload my product feed all I get is a blank popup window with a snails pace status bar.
Nothing happens and nothing gets uploaded. Then if I use "NOTE: You may view Froogle Merchants FTP content." I get this popup window that says "Froogle Merchants FTP content:Connected to: uploads.google.comConnection failed: uploads.google.com".
I can manually upload the generated file through google but zencart refuses to do so.
Anyone else had this problem. Thank you. :)

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Have you put in your username and password in ADMIN -> CONFIGURATION -> GOOGLE FROOGLE CONFIGURATION ???
-
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Yes, I have set my user name and password in the configuration.
I have followed all the directions supplied to a "t" and all seems ok except the fact I can't upload anything via the admin. Thanks
-
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
I fixed my ftp login and uploaded to google base, but nothing is showing up? I upload about 26 hours ago and again about 9 hours ago. Any ideas why it isn't showing up? I read earlier in the thread it should show up in a few hours.
Thanks

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
I'm also having the ftp from Admin problem. I've followed all the instructions and it just doesn't work. I can manually upload it and it works...at least until they manually review it. :(
I got an email today saying:
Quote:
Your bulk upload has been
disapproved due to the reason(s) listed below.
Issues:
1. Wrong prices
What's happening is it's not picking up my sale prices. It's uploading the original price.
If it helps: My cart is V 1.3.7 and the version of the mod I used was the latest one uploaded into the downloads section. It was a fresh install of this mod.

I use the specials module and haven't had a problem. Do they specifically give you an example of a wrong price and it is one of your specials? If not, are you non-us, or your default currency is not USD?
If you read back, I had the same issue as a Canadian seller. The reason is that whenever your Zen Cart does a currency update, you need to also update google base immediately so that there is no discrepency between your shop price and Google. Setting cron jobs that work back to back is the solution.
As for the FTP, did you create your ftp account at google? I believ the link is located on the right side of the bulk upload page...

They gave me a specific link and it was to one of my items on special. I'm in the US so the currency isn't a factor either.
Yep, I created the ftp account at google and plugged the username and password into my admin.
Thanks for the suggestions though.

I just came to the conclusion that GoDaddy will not let php executeables work from their servers. If anybody is having problems with this module and your hosted with GoDaddy you will never get this to work. As far as I know the only solution is to save your output file frooglt.txt and manually upload it to google base from their website.:schmoll:

I still am not seeing my products on GoogleBase! I had uploaded them through admin several times now and nothing. It has been 4 days since my first one and I have uploaded again several times since that. Any ideas why they aren't showing up?
This is what my screen is after it uploads....I am noticing that it says no for feed, but I don't know what I need to do to fix this?

The ftp upload has been a problem for a while, if you read back through the thread you will see most people download it, then submit it manually.
A bit of a pain but it still means you don't have to type it out which takes forever.

Have you defined the feed upload name in Google?

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
No, I haven't defined the feed name. Where do I do that? Thanks

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Go to the bulk upload section at Google.

Sorry. But GoDaddy will allow php executables to work.
I too was having the blank page problem and couldn't figure out what was happening. Others in this forum kept telling me the answer but it took me several attempts to work out the problem.
You MUST go to each file you uploaded to your server and CONFIRM that FULL executable permissions are granted. Without FULL permissions on each file you will only get a blank page staring back at you.
For whatever reason, when I upzipped the files they came with restricted permissions.
Once I confirmed that each googlefroogle.php file was full permissions I had no problem creating the upload file.
To take the next step you must have an ftp account set up with Google to receive your upload.
I hope that this helps save people a few steps. This kicked my backside for over a week before seeing the light.

Nothing to do with how the files "come" By default ANY files you upload yo your server have the read permissions bit set. You have to manually change the permissions. Correct, there is nothing in the read me about this. But when you actually attempt to generate the feed you should observe a warning about this. This has been explained often in this thread :wink2:
I may be mistaken but I think the OP was referring to having troubles doing a web upload of the file (from his server to Google using the mod and then having it accepted by Google), not generating the feed file.

I am getitng the same message from Google. Did you resolve it as i'm struggling!
-
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Woody,
I think the problem for me was that I was not even getting warning messages. The program would open a new window and show that it was working for an instant and then show me a blank page. The word "Done" would be in the lower left corner.
Now that I have the permissions to full permissions I am able to create the feed and then see the messages for the upload portion as well. No blank pages any longer.
I am not sure if this makes a difference but I am on a Linux server at GoDaddy.
Yes, I am having some upload issues, but I am seeing the error messages and I am working with GoDaddy to work through these. For now, I am not connecting to uploads.google.com via the GoogleFroogle tool. I can upload manually and have done so. I am only having connection issues at this point.
I TRULY appreciate the help you have provided. Without it my uploads would never have been created to begin with.

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Ok I have a question about the way googlebase processes the upload file. What I have been doing (and yes it is a pain) is to use the mod to create a new file and then go in and delete all but the new products that I have added, so that the old products I already have listed on the site don't go back to Published....searchable soon status. I don't really want to take the products I already have on ther offline everytime I want to update my list on there. I am not changing anything on the old products and so far the only way around this I have found is to go in and manually delete the old products which means a line by line search of model numbers.
Is there an easier way to create an upload file that just contains the new products I just added?

You will find that even though Google base says your old item are not searchable they in fact are.
When I update mine it says all items are not searchable and it stays like that for about 12 hours but I am still getting plenty of hits from Google products.

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Ok well thank you that will save me an hour or two everyday that I add products to my store.

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Hi - I'm running into a problem installing this contribution. When I click to create my product feed, I get this error message:
----
HTTP Status 400 - You must provide a feed uri
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
type Status report
message You must provide a feed uri
description The request sent by the client was syntactically incorrect (You must provide a feed uri).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apache Tomcat/5.0.28
----
I defined the settings in Config/GoogleFroogle config. I changed the permissions on the feeds to 775 and then 777. I tried searching for an answer to this but I'm coming up empty. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I'm using v1.3.7.

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Alray10 - thanks again for the info but I have a google related question for you. I pulled up your site and noticed that you sold athletic shoes. My question is in regards to your choice to use google ads on your site that advertise other stores that sell converse shoes. Does this seem like a smart marketing move? Seriously though, do you make more from advertising other stores that sell the same products as you than you do from actually selling them? This is one of the very reasons I discounted ever using Google Ads on my site and I was wondering if there was something I didn't consider.
-
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Another quick question I had about the way googlebase processes files. If I delete a bulk upload file from the fast growing list I have does that indeed delete the products themselves from googlebase?

I am thinking of removing google adsense myself I do keep putting sites on the ban list but as quick as I ban them another pops up.
I make very little out of adsense and it is hardly worth the time I spend putting them on the band list.
The only reason I leave them there is because even if google deny it I do find I get more hits from google if I have adsense on my site.
Your other question if you delete a bulk up load file yes the whole lot gets removed from googlebase.

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Couldn't you just set your ad box to display links in a new window? Then you'd generate profits from clicks and still retain the customer. Furthermore, the customer may see that your site has the better deal and will solidify the sale...
-
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Numinix - That is a bit of a risky proposition as well. Yes it is great if you are offering a better deal than the competitors.....but what if you aren't?

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
I'm having trouble when I create the files. They are showing that it created properly and that 1669 items are in the file, but when you view the file all that is there is the header lines. Has anyone else run into this issue?
Any help would be appericated.

This may sound silly but did you scroll all the way to the right? Depending on what you opened it with it may have put each one on one very long line..

I double checked without success. All that is there is the header.

Any other ideas?

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Is anyone still having trouble uploading to froogle/google base? I love this module but I have never been able to click the two buttons and actually have it upload. This is the message I get after I click upload:
Froogle Data Feeder v.1.3.3 07.02.2007 20:45 started 2007/05/28 20:06:43
Feed file - d:/hosting/member/admin/site1/feed/froogle.txt
Processing: Feed - Yes, Upload - No

Any recommendations? I have been uploading them manually, but would like to take full advantage of this module. Thanks.

Make sure you don't have "Label" in your file they no longer accept it.

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
I love this module, but what happened? Suddenly when I try to create/update the feed, the window pops up but it is blank! Same thing when I upload the feed, blank window again. It was working, is anyone else having this problem. The only thing I have done around this problem starting is uploaded Image Handler 2, has anyone else had a problem with these 2 modules?
Now my feed is coming up this page can not be displayed!!! HELP!

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Just an added note about this, I just saw out that my feed is not even updating....

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
I posted something today about the prices not changing when you use the salemaker module. When you make a sale and generate the feed the price in the feed still stays as your base price. Also when it creates the file it creates as user and group "nobody"
What happened to this module.....I really need it to work as many others also do I am sure. Any ideas?

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Google Froogle Feeder v1.3.4
available for testing at: http://www.numinix.com/zen-cart/goog...eder_1.3.4.zip
Updates:
added manufacturer's product number
cleaned up the product_type/label issue
Notes:
If there are any problems with the mpn, I will be happy to give support as well as help to add any further attributes which are ALREADY defined in the SQL database. I don't think there is anything else to add without creating additional fields in the product listing.
Product_types still only displays the categories (i.e. category sub-category sub-sub-category; the more sub categories you have the longer the product_type will be) and not a custom Google product_type which would require an additional field in the admin - categories/products. All I've actually done here is completely removed the "label", which Google no longer uses, and setup product_type to display what label used to display.
In terms of support, I cannot offer any support other than for the two changes I've made, which are very minor. Anything prior to these changes is beyond my capacity and should be directed to the original author a_berezin.
I will upload this release to the downloads sections once enough people have verified my changes are acceptable. The issue for special prices, as stated by the above poster, is still a concern and will hopefully be addressed in the future. I don't have enough understanding to take this on myself and don't even know where in the db special prices are stored.

IIRC, you need to upload an empty feed file (set it to '777' permissions and rename to your feed file name, of course) using FTP when you install the mod - then your server user/group will be assigned to the feed file instead of 'nobody'.
I assume that's why the empty feed file is included in the mod (or used to be).

I've taken a look at how specials are stored in the database and it probably wouldn't be too hard to do a conditional statement that if a special price exists, display special price instead of price. The only problem is that zen-cart doesn't delete the special prices from the database. It simply deactivates them by checking to see if the expiry date has been reached. Thus it would require more conditional statements for the expiry as well.
-
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Google Froogle Feeder v1.3.5
Updates:
Now includes specials. I did this by comparing the expiry date to today's date. I'm new to PHP but it's my understanding that the date function is based on the server time?
The update can be downloaded from:
http://www.numinix.com/zen-cart/google_froogle_feeder_1.3.5.zip

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
When I run the feed it says that all my products are in the file but when I view it there is nothing in there other then the file header information. Any ideas?
Thanks
-
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
The tabbed headings aren't stored in the db which means that it's not pulling the values out of ur database.
Note: I've setup a new support thread for any new issues not previously covered in this thread which is getting too large to read:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67850
Post any bugs with the specials prices in that thread please.

So where would I start to troubleshoot why it says its pulling the data but really isn't?

After testing we found that the problem was Zen Manager which stores products differently than the default Zen Cart. See my thread for the latest version v1.3.6 to further test the timeout issue.

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
It looks like I have previously installed Froogle module and also Google Froogle module. Do these two modules still work? Or should I switch to this new Google Base Feeder module?
-
Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
The Google Base Feeder is simply the Google Froogle Feeder with updates. It's the same core code. If you are using the Google Base Feeder and have run the sql updates in between v1.3.4 and the current 1.6.5, it should have overwritten the original code.

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
I have searched through this forum and I am unable to find an answer to my problem.
I have installed and configured the module as stated.

My feed directory is set to 777 but no files are getting created.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello I have problems with this mod. When I upload to google they state there are errors and 40 of 873 products are not listed. Also the shipping states free shipping when I do not offer this unless you buy $100 or more, but google always lists free shipping. I have tried to change config on the admin home but nothing seem to work. Any help would be great.
You can see google results here http://www.google.com/products?q=gea...com&hl=en&aq=f
My site is www.gear-mart.com

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
I have a problem that I seem not to be able to fix or find information on fixing it. I have right now 1042 products, and I add more every day, When I use the addon only 1000 are added to the xml feed.
Is there a way to fix this to add all my products?
Here is the link to my xml file if this helps http://www.gear-mart.com/store/feed/...t_products.xml .
I thank you for any help.

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
I have Zencart 1.38a. I have been using Froogle/Google base for some time. Zencart loads products fine and uploads to Google with no errors.
When I go to Google data quality area, I find 75% have Missing ISBN error. My site is a bookstore. I have admin for Google base feeder configuration with Show offer ID set to ISBN.
How do I fix this error and get Google to accept?

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
All of sudden, Google has disapproved my feed and we are no more on google.
Reason? Not given by google yet
while i hear from them, can somebody explain something to me.
According to Google T&C, prices must include VAT in price.
I have Ex/Inc VAT module installed and under Store configuration, i have set the value to Inc/Ex and under Google Base config settings, Display prices with Tax is set to True.
Am i making a mistake anywhere? Please see this thread and let me know what should i change on my side.

We're in the same boat. For us I think it's that we don't have UPC codes in the feed. I have the data but I don't have any way to upload them with EZ pop.

Are you currently populating upc code using numinix fields mod? If so, you can us numinix googlebase generator to create feed that supports upc, isbn, etc.

Re: Froogle Merchant Center merged into GoogleBase
Yes, we did, but currently it's not working again, because of Google new requirement - availability issue.

Try setting include zero quantity to false, and show quantity to true.
