Like I said, the inventory management issue is unique to the Ajax and/or MultiAdd versions.. The author of the Ajax and MultiAdd versions have never fully supported their work.. So to answer your question, yes I'm sure there is a way to fix it. However, to my knowledge no one has posted a fix for this issue for these versions, and if they did it would be posted in one of the SBA support threads (so a thread search might turn up the solution)..
Your best bet is this:- Use the Kuroi version of the SBA module
- Use the stylesheet from the MultiAdd

The stylesheet from the MultiAdd stylesheet makes a nice VISUAL distinction between the parent (product) and the children (product variants)..

Thanks so much diva I am attempting to do this myself.
Re: Stock by Attribute v4.0 for Zen Cart 1.3.5+
This is kind of down to DivaVocals. Following his observations in another thread, praising Kuroi's version, I installed Kuroi's version of this contribution to see whether the sort order of the attributes could be altered. Unfortunately not it would appear.
The problem is getting the attributes to show in an ordered manner, the more you have the bigger the problem
There has been periodic reference to this feature in this thread
Kuroi you have commented very early in this thread that the contribution does not influence the sort order and this is down to Option name value sort order
I have changed their sort order but the contribution still insists on doing the attributes in the original (alpha?) order. From looking at the code the contribution appears to have functions that set the order (contrary to Kuroi's comments)
Can any one please give guidance on this or has anyone found a solution work around please?
Thank you

1st HE is a SHE..
Secondly, my consistent recommendations to install Kuroi's version of this mod has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that FUNCTIONALLY Kuroi's version is the only one to install trouble free, and work as it should without weird errors and other issues that have plagued the other versions of this mod.
Now from a USABILITY perspective is there room for improvement with this mod?? Yes, and Kuroi has on MANY occasions said as much. Features such as the order of the attributes/variants (I assume you mean the order in which they appear in the admin), not showing variants in the store which are out of stock, etc are all desirable features.. However Kuroi has also said VERY clearly that he will not be developing this mod further to close some of the usability gaps since the upcoming Zen Cart release has addressed some of these needs..
The sort order of the attributes and variants in the admin does not stop this mod from working from a FUNCTIONAL perspective as it should. It's a usability issue, and I'm not sure anyone has come up with a fix..
Now if that still gets a "down" to me.. sorry to hear it.. I like SBA, I recognize it's few flaws, and have had NO ISSUES finding ways to work with it for my clients.. I may invest money in a developer to add the few features I think it is missing.. I'm certainly considering that.. For now it works just fine..

Ahem...........
I seem to have inadvertently caused offence.........
DivaVocals it is very hard to type upside down in the ordure wearing a sack cloth...........................
Apologies for the mistake in gender - I guess I near enough had a 50% chance to get it right
Second - I did not wish to impute any criticism of any individual on the contrary, I have immense respect and admiration for the authors of any contribution and the people that give their time and trouble to help others.
Third - my reasoning was that having made changes in my test system to alter the sort order, based on information gleaned and my own reasoning, if that did not work, would a different version of the contribution make a difference. IE eliminate a "what if"
Having received guidance, I can now go away and tinker with the system to see if I can effect a solution - there was no point in trying to do the work if someone had already found a solution
Best wishes - a chastened Centec

Not offended.. well except the part about being called a HE..:laugh: (seriously, you thought a name like DivaVocals was a MALE screenname??:laugh:)
Otherwise it seemed as if you were dinging me for a feature that isn't part of the add-on.. So I wasn't offended, just wanted to clear up any misunderstandings is all..
Of course it may be a cultural difference.. saying "down to you" in the USA is sort of a put down..
Anyway bygones.. to address part of what you said, the other versions of this add-on started out with Kuroi's as a foundation, so I imagine except for the new features they brought to the table, they would function almost identically. If you want to attempt to find a solution, I suggest starting with Kuroi's version.. It really is the most stable.. Even the new Ajax version does not work correctly still... (I posted my test findings in the other SBA thread..)
