This is a character encoding issue. You likely loaded your data from a iso-8859-1 source, but failed to let Open Office know before exporting and selecting UTF-8. This is hard to fix once it's messed up.
At this point you're better off doing a search and replace in your data. Also, depending of the source encoding, some single quote representations can potentially break EP4's import. Char(092) is a funky one.
Also, converting "smart" quotes between character encoding can also cause problems. Open Office CAN do it correctly for you, but you must let it know the source data's encoding when you first open the csv.
Excel will not give you this option and will totally FUBAR you data ...

Not quite sure what you mean, The model number was the same as uploaded product,
I added the example attributes,
v_products_model v_products_options_type v_products_options_name_1 v_products_options_values_name_1
And i always get the same results, Been at it all day, changing bits and get the same resultsAttachment 11406

Would there be any advantage to the good Zen Cart folks offering a UTF-8-encoded version? I work either in TextMate or inside vi. The default ISO encoding makes diff take longer whenever I upgrade. It wouldn't take all that long to convert all the files to UTF-8 but is it worth the effort?

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Ok, I am sure that this may already be posted here but I don't feel like scanning through all 71 pages of the EP help forum. Anyways I am trying to upload some inventory and when I do I get the error messages "No Model Field In Record. This line was not imported" What does that mean. I have on my cvs a place for v_products_model. I also did a different upload that I saved earlier with the same data and it uploaded fine but it did not upload any prices eventhough there are clearly prices that I placed under v_products_price. What is my problem and how do I fix the problem. I worked for about a month getting the files ready to upload and now this.
Thanks

I got that aswell , I uploaded a few tests, Checked it then deleted, When i tried to upload the exact same data i got the message "No model number found, Was not imported"
It's seems to hold onto it the first time, and if you try it again it doesn't see it the second time,
I never got to the bottom of it, maybe try clearing out "Optimise" Debug" in store manager and see if clears it ???

Look at the lines of output that show the errors. Do any import? If so, look at some of the ones that do not. Do they involve special characters that are not being escaped? When you get such an error it throws the file off and a blank field ends up where the model number is being read.
There are several reasons for "no model number" errors.

SASH!
Sorry you're struggling with attributes. Did you follow the File Naming Convention for Attribute Imports? This is VITAL! Otherwise EP4 will not know what to do with the file.... basically IGNORING your attributes!
The file naming convention is explicitly documented, use:
Attrib-Basic-EP + what ever you want + .csv
Attrib-Detailed-EP + what ever you want + .csv
You should be first creating your Basic attributes before attempting to modify the Detailed settings (if any).

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
HOW TO ATTACH FILES TO YOUR POST
When you want to attach a file for us to look at, you will first need to ZIP it. You cannot attach .csv files without first doing this.
After you click Reply or Reply to Thread, you will need to click "Go Advanced" ....
Scroll down a bit and you will see a box titled "Additional Options", and under this Attachments.
Click "Manage Attachments" and you will be able to upload your ZIP file.
You don't need to attached every item in your data base. You should NOT be using more than just a FEW record items when you are first learning to do data imports.
Attach your .csv (zipped) exactly how you are uploading it. 95% (or more) of all problems I have helped with are data format related.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
might be a strange question, but i'd love to convert straight over to EP4 (am running 1.5 with 1.2.5.4,a nd have the new EP installed)...
However my main issue is that my business database (75 tables with ~90,000 records) is currently arranged with exports to feed directly to the older EP.
IS there a way to set up EP 4 to accept (or export) files in the same config (1 record per row, with attribs in the same record by field name) as is setup in EP 1.2.5.4?
currently my database exports in a single MER file wiht the record (ie., model#) as the identifier, and with all attribs in the same record.. It can take quite some time for it to install in the site, but it usually works quite well.
I'd love to be able to take advantage of a few things with EP4, IF I can get past this hurdle.
Thx for any thoughts....

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
I posted here a couple of pages ago about a GST problem Im having with easy populate.
Basically I need the export to include more decimals, it gets cut off at 2, when adding 10% to that, we dont get back to the correct full retail price.
Heres the link to my full question, be great if someone could point me in the right direction.

Chargin,
You should be able to fix this with a few quick edits (I'll add a configuration for this later on).
Open easypopulate_4_export.php
go to about line 417
Code:
$row['v_products_price'] = round($row['v_products_price'] + ($price_with_tax * $row['v_products_price'] * $row_tax_multiplier / 100),2);
See the ".... 100),2); " ??? That's rounding to two decimal places. Change to the degree of accuracy that you need.

Hiya Rusty,
Are you referring to upgrading version of EP 4 or older versions like 1.2.5.4?
If you are going to upgrade between versions of EP 4, say 4.0.17 to 4.0.21...
1) Go to Configuration -> Easy Populate 4 and make not of your settings, and any custom field names you may have added.
2) Go to Tools -> Easy Populate 4 and click "Un-Install EP4" on the right side of the screen. This will ONLY uninstall the database configuration settings.
3) Upload the new version of EP4.
4) Go to Tools -> Easy Populate 4 and click "Install EP4"
5) Go to Configuration -> Easy Populate 4 and enter your configuration settings
It should be very straight forward.

Hi Rusty,
Easy Populate 4 has been completely forked from earlier versions of Easy Populate. So you could install 4.0.22 along side Langer's 3.0.3 Advanced, and there should be no conflict.

I have to put the products in the second category level (down "prodotti"roducts), but despite the file seems ok, I get this error
"No category provided for this new product"
I enclose 2 files
which do you recommend?
if I install easy populate 4 can I fix?
thanks

I can use a single file with these fields or do I use the full fle that is available in the examples

Are you using the correct form - from a previous response by Chad:
Categories are handled differently from other versions of EP. You can now import mult-lingual categories (Like Products Names, etc.).
To achieve this, each v_categories_names_1, v_categories_names_2 correspond to a language installed in your system, and individual category names are separated by the Carat "^" symbol. For Example: Bar Supplies^Glass Washers^Brushes
If you've not been usikng the new form, review the instructions for other issues.

From the readme file:
"3) Categories are handled differently from other versions of EP. You can now import multilingual categories (Like Products Names, descriptions, etc.). To achieve this, each v_categories_names_1, v_categories_names_2, etc. correspond to a language installed in your system, ...."
So those are the category names for different languages. Do you not have v_categories_names_1? That will produce an error perhaps. From the readme:
"As of 4.0.17, your lowest defined language (by language id) is needed to when creating categories. In the future I'll change this to the defined default language, but that will take some additional work."
Re your categories, I would not leave spaces between the carat and the text. From the readme:
For Example: Bar Supplies^Glass Washers^Brushes
"Bar Supplies" will be your Top level Category, with "Glass Washers" as a sub-directory, and "Brushes" as a sub-directory of "Glass Washers".

You appear to have | instead of commas between the data fields, and a comma and | for the field names. These should be commas only. Also, the first occurence of category in your fields list at the top is "v_categories_names" with no language number. The only other language numbers you have are _4 and _5.
Is this based on a download of your existing products?

First! Thanks for trying to help Stan!
Favjola.... what you REALLY need to do is FIRST enter a couple products normally through the zencart admin. Create a couple categories and sub-categories, and if you have more than one language, also be sure to enter the language names of the categories for these additional languages.
Once you have a couple categories and products, do a full export.
You will now have your correct column mappings. Also, be sure to use OpenOffice to export your CSV file and select comma as your field delimiter and the double-quote " as your text delimiter.
You are making this MUCH harder on yourself by doing it any other way.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Excellent add-on - and "almost" does what I need, with one show-stopper exception!
I may be listed as a New Zenner, but have been using OSC since it began 14 years ago!
We have multiple systems that need to talk to each other to synchronize data - including our "composer" for products, and have to do the synchronization using the products_id, not the products_model.
The products_model "could", but seldom changes. The products_id (which also syncs to the POS for inventory) is the one constant!
Is there an easy way to force the products_id field to be respected and used as the products key?

I did not see your response.
When I download the "Full-EP2012Oct31...." none of the field names have quotes around them.
And the first few look like this:
v_products_model,v_products_type,v_products_image,
Even if you use quotes, do not put the comma that separates fields inside the quote mark.
-
Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Ok, I give up...
I just can't seem to get this to work.
If I download the Basic Products Attributes (basic single-line), then modify the size in v_products_options_values_name_1 (i.e. default is S,M,L) by adding a comma and then XL, then import it back with EP4, the attribute of the product won't change.
I got the radio buttons in attributes for each size but if I add it to the CSV and then upload it, nothing happens.
Anyone can help me out ? I'm really about to bash my brains in with the keyboard (broke the mouse already).
Thanks.

Hi Dan!
This will take some thought... EP4 has been coded to work specifically on the products_model. Not saying that the products_id is not doable, but there would be some significant coding for this.
Have you looked at Langer's Easy Populate Advanced 3.0.3? He does allow use of the products_id, but I don't know much more than that.
I can put this on the "slate" but I am terribly busy with several paid projects and the "day job", so I don't know just when I could get to it...
Sorry if that's a disappointment. I really do want to make EP4 a complete product for us zenners.

Easy Populate 4.0 Configuration link error
Hello,
I am using zen cart 1.51, new install, using Bristol Lace template. After installing easy populate, I click on Configuration, Easy Populate, and it takes me to my image handler link. When I hover over image handler link it gives me the id=31, and when I hover over Easy Populate, it gives me the same id=31. Somehow, they have the same link. When I go to Tools, Easy populate, that link works. How to I correct the link under configuration?
Thank you in advance,

I certainly understand Chad! I have those restrictions myself!
I looked at the Langer 3.03 and it doesn't seem to do as much error checking etc, so I've put a couple mods into yours!
It doesn't do everything, but from testing it "prefers" the model for ALL changes.
On additions to the DB, IF the v_products_id column exists in the import file, it will use that ID #.
If there is an insert conflict (duplicate ID), you already throw the error.
I'm sending a PM with some "minor" changes (snippets only) that appears to do what I need. Possibly others could need too.
Let me know what you think!

Hi Jeremiah,
Sorry to leave you hanging! Are you SURE you are using Easy Populate 4? Not an earlier version of Easy Populate?
When you navigate to Tools > Easy Populate 4 you should have "Easy Populate 4.0.22 - Beta 6-10-2012"

Hello Chadd,
Thank you for apologizing for leaving me hanging, but no apology is necessary, it has only been a day or two,and I know that all of you that are helping the rest of us are doing it for free and on your own time, so I always appreciate any and all help given.
As far as which version of Easy Populate, I downloaded the plug-in Easy Populate CSV from this site. My page title from the Tools> Easy Populate (mine does not have 4) is Easy Populate For ZenCart v1.5.
I have found a way to get to the configuration, but I would like to correct the link. Like I said, when I click on Configuration> Easy Populate it takes me to my Image Handler, and after hovering, I saw where the Easy Populate and Image Handler had the same page id. I went into my db and saw that the id for Easy Populate was 39. So when it takes me to Image Handler, I change the id in the url to 39 and I am able to get to the configuratioon page for Easy Populate.
I have no idea how or why Easy Populate and Image Handler were assigned the same id. Image handler was installed first.
If there is a different link for Easy Populate 4 than the CSV, I will try that one if it will be easier and you think that would help or be better.
Thank you again,
Jeremiah

Hey Jeremiah,
Go to the first post in this thread. There is a link to github for EP4 which is my project. I am not doing support on the other versions anymore, sorry. I'm aware of the version you are using. I think they just hacked the code to sort of work.
My version has many many more features. I DO need to submit to the zencart team which would make this easier for the zenners, but time has been a serious limiting factor for me. If you install my version, please read through some of the first pages of this thread. A lot of info there that you might find useful.

Re: Easy Populate 4.0 Configuration link error
Hello!
I read almost everything in the forum.
I could not find solution to my problem.
My problem with the Cyrillic alphabet.
I tried anything: Openoffice, Notepad + +
Nothing happens, the file is uploaded but not read Cyrillic.
My database is utf8.
I use Zen Cart 1.5, Easy Populate 4.0
Please a little help.
Here is the code I'm trying to load.
Code:
v_products_model,v_categories_name_1,v_categories_name_2,v_categories_name_3,v_categories_name_4,v_categories_name_5,v_categories_name_6,v_categories_name_7

This looks like a partial data file from an earlier version of EP. This will not work with EP4.
What you REALLY need to do is FIRST enter a couple products normally through the zencart admin. Create a couple categories and sub-categories, and if you have more than one language, also be sure to enter the language names of the categories for these additional languages.
Once you have a couple categories and products, do a full export.
You will now have the correct column mappings.
Also, be sure to use OpenOffice to export your CSV file.
When in OpenOffice you:
1) select File -> Save as
2) select Text (CSV) from File Type
3) put check in "Edit filter settings" check box
4) click save (a new window will pop open)
5) click Keep Current Format ( new window titled Export Text File will open )
6) Under Field Options select Unicode UTF-8 for character set, Comma for Field Delimiter and Double Quote for Text Delimiter
7) click ok.
You are making this MUCH harder on yourself by doing it any other way.
After you have done this, zip your file and attach it to your next post.

Thank you very, very much.
Now everything is fine. I'm just not inflicted products correctly.
And when I import files I was in another language (ENG).
Thank you very, very much.

Re: Easy Populate 4.0 Configuration link error
Hey there,
I'm trying out this newer version of easy-pop having been a fan of the old one. Works great, thanks, but when I bulk uploaded a bunch of products all went well for most products but some ended up in the wrong category.
The products which ended up in the wrong place were all down towards the bottom in the spreadsheet. It starts to go awry when the first product in the category Guinness Merchandise^Guinness Magnets & key rings
After the first product in that category, products end up getting placed in the same category as the product listed before. I reckon it's something to do with the ampersand. In the file downloaded by easypop the ampersand appears as & whereas in my admin the ampersand is &
Firstly, is this the cause of my problem and second, is there anyway to make it so that & is used instead of &
thanks for all the hard work :)

Hi Barricades!
Go to Configuration -> Easy Populate 4
What do you have set for "Convert Curly Quotes, etc."
Try it with html equivalants ( I can't remember off the top of my head if I'm convertion the ampersand ... )

Okay, looked into this a bit more. The ampersand does not get converted anywhere in EP4. So if your Zencart categories use & you will need to use that in your spread sheet. The reason you get a different category is because string comparison of & and & are completely different.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi,
I'm a noob to using Easy Populate myself, after moving web hosts they have just installed it for me to get used too.
I have edited the heading ensuring I have v_model_number (sku, product code) inserted as a heading along with only some of the other headings. As all of them are not a requirement for my store.
My Headings:
v_products_model v_products_name_1 v_products_name_2 v_products_description_1 v_products_description_2 v_unit _of_ sale v_products_price_GBP v_products_price_EURO v_products_weight_kg v_clothing_size v_date_added
Anyway, to cut a long story short I have created a mini version of the stock report and if it's not the error:
No model field in record. This line was not imported
It's the error:
'Warning An SQL error has occured. Please check your input data for tabs within fields and delete these. If this error continues, please forward your error log to the Easy Populate maintainer'.
Does anyone please know why the errors are happening for my circumstances. Also after clearing up files from my database I have gone and deleted the sample template file provided by EP. Does anyone have a spare copy of this I can look at? It may be all I need!
Kind Regards
Duncan Oates

Chadd recommends that you add a few products through admin, including all categories and languages. Then download that and use that as your model.
Are you sure that you have installed this version of EP4?
From Chadd in a post on the previous page:
> When you navigate to Tools > Easy Populate 4 you should have "Easy Populate 4.0.22 - Beta 6-10-2012"
for your page title...

This is not Chadd's version of EP4. I did not like the previous versions that had spun off of Phazei's work, but have not tried the version you have installed. Chadd's version works very well for me.
EP4 is not in the official plugins yet, and can be found in the link at post 1 of this thread.

I am using https://github.com/chaddro/EasyPopulate-4.0 on Zen Cart 1.5.1 and in in Config I have "Upload File Date Format" = d-m-y but for the special start and end date I have to use YYYY-MM-DD because if I use d-m-y the specials start and end in the 60's :) No big deal but thought I'd mention it encase anyone else is having issues.

Error message ERROR: Import file does not exist:/var/www/html/temp/R
I am getting the above error message when I try to import a CSV file that I have uploade to Zencart.
When I look the CSV file that I am trying to import is in the var/www/html/temp folder.
I am a newbie to EZ populate - I have been using it for about a week to download categories clean up the data and then reload it back up to my zencart site and this has been working very well.
Yester day I created a new CSV file with 1300 items in it by downloading a CSV file from the site, opening it with Microsoft Xcel, populating it with the new products and categories and saving in xlsx format. I have then reopened the file with LibreOffice and saved it as a CSV file.
I have split the file up into several smaller files on my local PC and then tried uploading files and importing files with a few number of models and sometimes this works and sometimes I just get the error message above.
Can anyone help?
Please ask me what futher details you need to provide me with meaningful support.

What version of PHP are you using? You can find this by logging into your admin and go to Tools -> Server Version/Info.
I think you are on an old version of php. You should have 5.3 or newer...

Can you verify which version of EasyPopulate you are using? When you go to Tools -> EasyPopulate 4, it should have

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Thanks for your reply...
The version of PHP on the server in question is 5.3.13
MySQL version is 5.1.66
When I got to Admin -> Tools and click on Easy Populate 4, I just get a blank page.
The file easypopulate_4.php contained in the admin directory contains this line at the top:
// $Id: easypopulate_4.php, v4.0.21 06-01-2012 chadderuski $
I did also try creating a new fresh install of ZenCart and tried installing EasyPopulate 4 from git hub a few days ago and got the same blank screen when I click on Easy Populate 4 on the Tools menu.
ZenCart 1.5.1 does work without any issues that I am aware of.

Hi Serious,
No, this is not built into EP4 at this time. I'll have to see if it can be added. I have a couple of requests for this now.
In the mean time you should be able to use Numinix's google merchant feeder and pull the url's from the xml data.

Hi chadderuski
Just wondering if it is possible to add products with a download link . Or should I say a directory and file name and type . Mostly I work with PDF downloads . Which header names of columns would I be looking for . Or is it restricted to those column names in the export file.
Thanks Paul

I think you have to use attributes to do this. I have never done a download product myself. Perhaps someone else can chime in on this?

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hey Chad,
Me again...
How would I format the v_products_image field to look for an external URL?
I seem to recall doing this in an earlier version. I'm currently using 4.0.22.
We have run into a problem on one of our servers and I need to temporarily point to a different domain to pull product images, of which we have over 50k!

I only want to pull the image from the URL, not any other product data.
Basically, I have a different and totally unrelated server that I am storing images on and I would like my product images to be pulled from there. It's temporary and needs to look as normal as possible.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hi,
Sort of a newbie question but I can't seem to extract the answer from this thread.
I am trying to add some new, user defined product fields. I add the fields from zcadmin>config>EP 4 as per the instructions and they now show up in tools>EP 4 as field name: False.
Thats as far as I've gotten. When I download the "Complete Products" there are no new columns for the new fields. Also, I do not see columns for the "Custom Product Fields" which are also indicated as False. So, I guess my question is, how do you change these fields' status from False to True.
Using EP4.0.22

Yes, you can do this...
What you would do is DUPLICATE the products spreadsheet entry, but only change the category.
Be sure to BACKUP YOUR DATABASE. And run a test with a single product. Test to see if you can have more than one link (you should be able to link as many times as you need, I just haven't tested this in recent memory).

Hey Keezee!
Just changing your image location won't solve your problem as zencart assumes a local images folder.
check out this old thread:
http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...offsite-images
and here is a mod for external product images:
http://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1077
Hope that helps. I've never done this myself.

You are very close. You will also need to use phpMyAdmin from your websites control panel and add those fields to the products database. There are a number of threads on how to do this.
The reason you get "false" is because you haven't added the fields to the database yet.

Thanks for getting back with this, have tried 1 item in 3 categories and it works absolutely fine. Now just have to write myself a little script to make the duplicates and insert the new cat's ... this should be excellent.
But another thing ... when I was using zen cart 1.3 and easy pop 1.2etc (last week) I always used to 'wipe the slate clean' with a mySQL patch (DELETE FROM Categories, etc from Dr Byte, I think) to clear all categories/records before uploading a 'new shop' from my database. How do I best do this now (and is it a good idea at all?). Once again, thanks for your help.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Hoping someone can help me. I'm using ZC 1.5 and EP 4.0.22 - Beta 6-10-2012. I have successfully imported the products (sort of) and categories were entered manually. I am now trying to bring across all attributes. To do this, I entered all my attributes options and values manually and then add them to some products. I then did a detailed attribute export using EP. I then learnt a lot more than I used to know about excel and managed to get all the data in the right columns for all my attributes.
Finally imported back into ZC expecting some problems but to my surprise and delight it reported back that the import was successful and 2000ish entries had been updated... trouble is it lied right to my face. Nothing has been changed, either in Zen Cart or the database.
So, I've been trawling through this thread trying to find an answer and it appears I have done several things wrong:
1) I'm using excel not open office. So I installed open office. Unfortunately it keeps crashing on my fancy 4GHz i7, ssd, 16gb ram setup?!? I have Libre Office running OK if that's any help.
2)I somehow have introduced some whitespace to some of my Model fields. I will fix this but they are exactly the same in the attributes file so I dont see how this is an issue.
3) I'm not sure but was I supposed to do a basic import first... because I didnt. If so this is going to be a pain to get all the option values into one cell... Do i have to do this, any tips on making this happen?
4) I noticed my import export csv files are not the same. my exports have double quotes around all fields and I cannot for the life of me work out how to make excel do this. Libre office has an option to enclose text fields in double quotes but I cant get it to do it around all values. I tried entering them in the actual fields but excel then decides it wants to turn that into three sets of double quotes
5)What should I be doing with the v_products_attributes_id field. I tried looking at the last entry an incrementing from there but no joy.
Now, I realise I am probably going to have to start again. but if someone could help me out with some clear pointers so that the next time is the last time I have to do this I would be forever in your debt
Your help is greatly appreciated. Please see attributes CSV here http://pastebin.com/gsN6LvWm

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
WebweaverD:
Looks like you jumped in with both feet before checking how cold the water was! LOL!
Yes, you MUST use the BASIC attribute import FIRST. This is how you CREATE the attachment of an attribute set to a product. If your product has multiple attribute set (color, size, etc) then you will have a line for that product for each attribute set.
If you are having problems with OpenOffice, try to update your Java. I heard other people having issue with OO.
IMPORTANT: You CAN work in Excel, but you need to use OO to export your CSV. Other forms MAY work, but I can offer no guarantees.
Yes, the error reporting side of the Attribute import code is not fully mature.
Your normal work flow to attach attributes is:
1) create your BASIC import (respect file naming conventions!): this will attach your attribute names/values to your product id.
2) after you import your BASIC attribute file, EXPORT your DETAILED attribute file. The DETAIL file is one-to-one record based. So you do not use the DETAILED report to create new attributes, just set the micro-data on how that attributes works.
3) import your DETAILED file to update those particular settings.
hope this clarifies some things.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Thanks for the tips and quick response Chad,
I'm gonna have another crack at this now. Is there a guide or wiki that I missed for this plugin? I found this http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Easy_Populate but it's referring to version 1.2.5.4 of EP and doesn't cover the advanced attributes import.
Thanks for the great plugin. All it needs now is a muppet proof guide.

Not as extensive as you'd like, but it really is simple. In the main directive of the download, just follow the info in install.txt and readme.txt. Then come here for help.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Me again, Still having trouble.
So, I have trimmed all the model fields and started again. Once again products are all in the system just fine. I have then tried a basic attributes import. Again it has reported success but nothing has changed. This time I used open office (I updated Java as suggested - seems OK now. Thanks Chad) Text csv as export with comma delimiter and double quotes around text fileds (is this correct?)
issue 1) v_products_options_type is different in my advanced attribute export to my basic export. In the basic they are all set to 5, In advanced they are set to 5,3 or 2 - i have tried both ways and neither works.
issue2) Not sure if I'm supposed to have entered the attribute/name values prior to the basic import.
issue3) I had one v_products_options_values_name_1 of "Form, Colour, Patterns" and thought this may be an issue due to the comma separation of values so I changed this to "Form Colour Patterns" but still no joy.
I haven't tried the advanced attributes import yet since I cannot see any changes after the basic import, further more, when I look at mysql logs after the basic import, all I can see are select queries - no updates or inserts.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here. I'm starting to think SQL may be the way to go. Here is my basic attribute import csv http://pastebin.com/rjZF1VtM. I know this is a big dataset so I tried with the first 4 rows only and once again it reports success but nothing is changing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Please all ignore the above - My problem was not naming the files correctly, e.g. the files you import have to be called Attrib-Basic-EP_whateveryouwant.csv. This is clearly written in the readme. So we can put this one down to user error. 10 mins reading the readme or several hours guessing. I'll choose the first option in future. Thanks all for your help.

WebweavreD,
Yup. Gotta name the file correctly. So, what you were seeing was the core import code processing your attribute file as if it were standard import. Since NONE of the other columns other than the product id are read, it would say it processed the file basically doing nothing.
In my next patch, I'll put something ON SCREEN about this, or some kind on help. We'll see.
Also, do not put SPACES between your attribute options/names: "red, blue, green" is okay but: "red, blue, green" is not. I do not remember if I did a trim on those - I may not have going for performance.
Best to test and see.
Also, for your one's sanity, best to run your first import with a single line to verify your have everything done correctly. You DO NOT have to first create your attribute name/options.
ONE THING TO NOTE (also in the read me): Zencart will let you create to different attributes: COLOR and COLOR which will have different ID's, you CANNOT do this with EP4, each attribute name needs to be unique within it's defined set:
OFFSET_COLORS {cyan,magenta,yellow,black}
RGB_COLORS {red,green,blue}
One last thing: there is no delete function for attributes. If you need to delete a color option from a product, you have to do it from within the admin.

Re: EasyPopulate 4.0 Support Thread
Using Zen Cart 1.5.1 with "easy_populate_csv_for_zencart_v1.5.x_v1.2.5.7c"
I saved my csv files using Excel. The whole database got corrupted. I will download Open Office to try, to see if it works.
First row (titles) in "Full-EP2013Jan21-1111.csv" as follow:
Code:
v_products_model,v_products_image,v_products_name_1,v_products_description_1,v_products_url_1,v_specials_price,v_specials_last_modified,v_specials_expires_date,v_products_price,v_products_weight,v_last_modified,v_date_added,v_products_quantity,v_manufacturers_name,v_categories_name_1,v_categories_name_2,v_categories_name_3,v_categories_name_4,v_categories_name_5,v_categories_name_6,v_categories_name_7,v_tax_class_title,v_status,v_metatags_products_name_status,v_metatags_title_status,v_metatags_model_status,v_metatags_price_status,v_metatags_title_tagline_status,v_metatags_title_1,v_metatags_keywords_1,v_metatags_description_1
Second row (data) in "Full-EP2013Jan21-1111.csv" as follow:
Code:
P_001,"Item 1.jpg","Item 1","Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry.",,,,,105,0,"2013-01-21 11:24:16","2012-12-27 13:57:00",99,"Barnes and Noble",CAT1,,,,,,,--none--,1,0,0,0,0,0,,,
When data was uploaded, it added "Barnes and Noble" as "Manufactured by", in products without any name in "Manufactured by" field.
Questions:
1- To revert back, can I just re-install the database files, or do I have to re-install the entire site?
2- Also I am not getting "Easy Populate" under "Configuration", It is under the "Tools". How can get that to show?
