At the top of my products, or manufactors page I got the following:
Filter Results by:TEXT_PRODUCTS
and the drop down box has the following
TEXT_PRODUCTS_LISTING_ALPHA_SORTER_NAMES
this did not do that before I add tabbbed lite, where am I missing this.

Well if you want it all in the tab, including the image, you can set "Global Main Image on Tab" set to 1 in the admin area. That will give you the look like this:Quote:

Just installed the tabs 3.8. Went carefully through the instructions, and edited a product to use some tab info, but no tabs are showing.
Obviously I'm missing something here. I went through the Tabbed Product Config screen, and pretty much left the defaults.
Is there a common mistake that most people make on this?

Hmm. I had that problem when I first installed one of the better categories fixes too but Im not sure why my fix for that didnt get copied with the template. Anyway, it is the same fix steel rat used. Maybe I didnt include the tpl_information file.Quote:

This will solve your empty page problem that is occurring because it is erroring on your missing database calls.

How do I add to the Admin section the Attributes tab?
I have a product with brief description and underneath some sections can be configured.
The product nicely appears on the tab, however, I'd like the Attribute section under a different tab, let say "configure"
What happens now is that the Attributes show up on every page the tab opens, including the Review tab.
and this is ugly. Plus I have a dupplicate Product description tab with zero content.
Any suggestions?

I finally got around to upgrading to 3.8. All seemed to go well until I tried to apply the sql file and now I have nothing on the product pages. I got the following error message when I tried to upload the sql file:
1146 Table 'stormstr_zcstore.configuration_group' doesn't exist

Any ideas qhome? I made a back up of the files and database just a couple days ago so all isnt lost if its bad. The store is essentially down since you cant see any products, but I can deal with that for now if it can be fixed.
Oh, I just noticed as well, that my Tabbed Products Config on the admin side isnt showing anything if that helps any....
where did you run the sql file, in phpmyadmin or in the ZC install sql patches admin link? if you ran it in phpmyadmin, you need to put your prefix on all the tables created by the sql file. if you're running it in the ZC SQL Patch thing.. well.. idk lol. qhome would probably know better in that case :)

Okay, I got the script to run after a lot of trial and error from the ZC Install SQL patch page.
I was thinking that the table prefixes had to be added to all the statements, come to find out it only needed to be added to one of them.
Anyway, I got it installed, I can see my products again, but I have a problem with the Configuration > Tabbed Products Config link again. I show three of them on the menu, and none of them show anything on the page. I had this issue with the last upgrade, but one of the links worked, this time none of them do.
Any suggestions on what I should do? The gids are as shown below for the three links.

Should I just reload the database with my latest back up and then reapply the 3.8 Sql patch now that the table prefixes are set correctly?

Okay. I tried that and it flopped. So to make things easy, I just uploaded the latest back up I have of the database and then re-uploaded the sql patch from 3.8 that I had added my table prefix to. It was the 4th line in the code:
SELECT @gid := configuration_group_id
I think I may have over complicated this because I didnt check the table prefixes on the sql patch to begin with and then all the correction and troubleshooting attemps just snowballed it all.
Reverting back to my previous back up and then installed the corrected sql patch for 3.8 everything went like clockwork. I lost a product category that I had added and a couple layout changes but I had no products in the category and I remember what the layout changes were. So I'll get those added back and make a new back up.

Your error is because the database user/pass information you are using in your configure.php file does not hav full rights to your mysql database. You can try removing the lines with DELETE but I would suggest you get the proper rights to the database instead so that you can properly clean out any erroneous entries.Quote:

Who set up your database for your store? when they added you as a user, they did not give you full rights to the database so that error means that you do not have permission to Delete things, you can only add things. But since you added some things that errored, you need to delete those errorneous entries first. But since you do not have DELETE rights to your database, you cannot delete those fields.Quote:

The Delete here isn't totally necessary, so you might be able to skip it. But if you have the same problem that SyntheticShield had, where he/she had 3 of the Tabbed Product Config menus in the Admin->Configuration menu, then you will need the power to Delete.
Contact your webhost for assistance in getting your mysql username/password setup to allow DELETE.
In the mean time, try running the sql code again but remove the first two lines that do the deleting process. What error do you get when you don't add the first two lines?

For now, it might be easier for you to use the non-database version that I included. Included with 3.8 there was an alternative file in:
\includes\modules\Non-AdminEdition\tabbed_products_lite.php
copy that file over the other file that is in the main modules folder:
\includes\modules\tabbed_products_lite.php
Now you can make changes by editing that file instead of using the database.
Once you get the database part working, then you can re-copy the normal version of this file out there again and use the admin panel.
This will at least let you get up and running.

i still have no luck with it..but as you say, the easier way is to use the non-admin version. so i guess its the only way i have at this moment. even though i still wishing tht i could use the admin version. thx for your help btw. its a great contribution.

Hmm are you sure you have a prefix on your database. From your first error it sounds like you did but now it is saying you don't have a table by that name. If you got 3.7 to run then you shouldn't really have a problem here unless it was the delete commands that were causing the error instead of the prefix.Quote:

get any errors.
After I have copy files from contrib and I look in the product info
page it's empty, it's not show anything at all on the page.

The parse error means you missed something in the syntax while you were merging. I'd suggest you hold off on merging until you get it working with default code.

Besides, it will be customer friendly to have it on top for those customers that do not need to read description, they can easily add things to cart. I know you created a custom file for Stephen for version 3.3. Is that still available and applicable to v3.8.
Just trying to figure out the most efficient way to do this since I have to do it in 5templates for each product type.

Qhome, where can I change the configuration so that the default tabs are wrapped. I looked includes/module and I do not see where to make the changes. Customer Also Purchased and We Also Recommend are not wrapping out of the box.

You have some really odd table issues going on. What version of zen cart are you using? i much prefer the newer version with less tables. Anyhoo... you have an issue with closing a table row that doesn't exist, and then starting a row that isn't closed. You'll have to find where theses issues are in your template files, unless you added these in the product description. WHen using firefox, if I use the edit HTML function, and change this:Quote:

This doesn't seem to be a tabbed lite issue, more so of other design mistakes. backtrack your steps until you find the problem or use winmerge to compare to default tabbed template and slowly add your customizations.Quote:

I've been using this great contrib on Zencart 1.3.5 and it's really good looking and makes information great to browse for my customers. I've just updated another one of my websites from zencart 1.3.5 to 1.3.6 that was not using the contribution and installing the contribution to this feshly upgraded Zencart does not seem to work. Is there some tweeking to be done ? I'm guessing it's quite possible that there might be as quite a lot of the templating code has been updated with v 1.3.6.
Do you happen to have any info on this ?

I'm using ZC1.3.6. Should have mentioned that.
Repeated it on a clean 1.3.6, and again succesfully installed. I also copied the query as text into the upper box, browsing for files has failed me too many times.
I am hoping someone reads this over the coming few days,,,, I decided to install the new version of zen,,, and while I like it I also liked this tabbed display...
unfortunately I cant get it to work on 1.3.6.. I have had intermitent success.. but I did have it working once..
I am afriad I am new to this but the documentation for installint this is confusing at best..
How does one get this working with the cross sell product?
it seems like there must be an "order" in which I must do things and so far that order has escaped me.. I have tried..
install cross see 1st..
then added tabbed view
and vice versa and NO results..
the directory called "catalog" perplexes me".. it is not in any of the other tools simialr to this and I think that is part of the problem..

1. First off, lets not worry about cross sell.. that is an option you can play with once you get the default tabbed lite setup working. Verify that you now have Configuration->Tabbed Lite Config menu in your admin area. And verify you see 12 settings.
3. Assuming the SQL completed successfully, you will now upload all the files inside "catalog" folder to your ftp. If you are not using "catalog" you might use "shop" or you might just have your store setup in the root public_html directory. You just need to go down to the next level where you see "includes" and upload that folder. BUT FIRST! You need to go into the includes\templates\ folder and change YOUR_TEMPLATE to the template you are using. Assuming you are using the default classic template, you can change this folder name to "classic".
4. upload the files. They have the correct zen-cart directory structure so you can just drag the "includes" folder into your FTP client into the same directory that the zen-cart "includes" folder is at and it will copy the files to their respective places.
5. The default settings should be fine for most stores on initial install. Goto your storefront and view your store. You should see a the products description in the first tab, and at least a reviews tab.
This is success!. Now if you have the Cross Sell contrib installed, you can goto the configuration area and set "Cross Sell is installed" to True and "Global Cross Sell as Tab" to true, now you should see a cross sell tab on your products (but only after you set that product up for cross sell)

If you are having database install problems, you have a backup option. inside the "includes/modules/" folder.. there is a folder called "Non-AdminEdition" folder. Inside that is a non-database version of the "tabbed_products_lite.php" file. Copy that up one folder level and replace (or rename) the current one. Now instead of changing settings in the admin area, you can change them by editing this file in an editor.
From this point now you can decide if you want custom tabs on your products. Custom tabs are set up from the product description and you can follow the readme file for example on what each set of tags does. Also view the screenshot of the example of the new product area.
Let me know how that works out for you.

I am using the futue Zen template and have already made the changes to the directory like you said...
so catalog is a whole new directory - I am good with this... (and I would ot have written the comment but I really did like the module when I had it working...and now I have cross sell all installed so I will just give this a try once again..

Right now I'm reading through your "Make Your Own AutoTab.txt" help document. Attempting to use your CrossSell example as a guide in integrating swguy's Ask-A-Question mod into your product info tabs system.
I had this all figured out for your previous v.3.5 version but with the more recent TPL version I discovered I need to relearn the process. (I just installed ZC v.1.36 from scratch and decided to rebuild the site from ground up with TPL v.3.8).
I just noted the above help doc may have some corruption issues in Step 1.

Now I notice on your demo site you have your tabs on the left.. (Not the top).. I like that and am wondering if there is an example I can use to change the location of the tabs..(I assume it neds to be in a stylesheet..

I upgraded from a very old version. I like the admin interface.
I have one small issue that I think may be a css issue. When I have the tab Customers also purchased the white space is not correct on the page. Here is a sample:

I have all my navigation on the left...and I like your tabs (on the left)- not on the top... and I also like the way yours "blend into the page" seems cleaner...

- I would like reviews in the reviews tab to show 100% of the review content, and not just the first line.
- I would also like to enable html for reviews that display on this page.

Yea this is a CSS issue.. Do your customeralsopurchased css settings have any float settings? I dont remember which setting offhand but it looks like that may be the problem. I made no changes to the customer also purchased module.. so im curious if you set cross sell to be off tab.. does it also have this problem ?Quote:

To be it's own tab wouldn't be worthwhile since I can't load the form unless the user is logged in. So you would really only need the button. And I would think the most logical location of the button would be next to either the add to cart button, price, or near the product details area (model #, stock level, etc)Quote:

You can also play around with these for the placement you want. But keep in mind that there is css settings and other stuff at play unrelated to the tabs contrib, and covered more in the zen-cart template understanding.

Yes well voltage has unbelievable template skill and probably one of the best, if not the best template in town (IMO). You would first have to learn more about zen-cart and how to make amazing templates and then proceed to merge tabbed products lite into that template. I see now it is more simple than I was making it out to be. When I attempted to map the logic between the new v.3.8 files my head began to hurt. I think the way the author made it was to put the link in one spot. did you reset it in admin? tools > template selection
and then reset the layout boxes.. tools > layout box controller
hello, thanks for your quick response. I went into layout boxes controller and pushed reset so I am showing all the normal boxes ect. now though there is no reset button in the template selection section. I have the trublu template installed so when I uploaded the tabbed lite I changed the "your template" to trublu though I see no tabs. Seems like a very easy install though I must be doing something wrong.
