Re: Easy Populate support
In ref to post #819, I resolved PROBLEM #2. Found a place in phpMyAdmin that would let me search and found the 5 problem children and got rid of them by deleting.
For PROBLEM #1, I still need help. As stated before, I already had products in my database before attempting to use EP.
In admin>tools>easypopulate
when I create a "full" file of those 400+ products to download to my pc in order to edit, it is not giving the product url in the info it creates. Why not? Why is it putting all the data in one cell? What do I need to do to make EP work correctly? Is EP not able to correctly read products that were already on the database before EP was installed? Is that the problem? Do I just use the headers in that file that I created as my guide?
any help is appreciated..........
Shirley

I installed it like 3 different times and keep having same problem..
Everytime I try to import or export I get kicked back to admin login screen. Now if I copy the url from a export funtion and append the zenAdminID and manual paste it in the browser. I can get what ever fuction to work..
below is a example of the url I get when I select copy shortcut ..
http://mywebsite.com/admin/easypopul...&dltype=attrib
all others are like the above for sum reason it's not
appending the admin id like that of below to any url associated with easy populate..
&zenAdminID=49ed3b17******0ae
Thanx :)
I am having the same problem and still searching for an answer. Sorry for posting again but I'm getting desperate. I was thinking about buy EP advanced but afraid it won't do any better for me. It seems everyone is having as many problems with advanced as they are with stardard.
There just don't seem to be answers for problems. Believe me, I search the forums every night.
Thanks in advance if anyone reads my plea for help.
Re: Easy Populate support
Well, I ended up uninstalling EP. Without tips, clues, hints or support the mod is useless to me.
Perhaps someday soon, a really savvy person will pick this mod up and make it work right. I do not know enough to do so, so will move on.

Re: Easy Populate support
Ok, I've used Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 before (about a year ago now) and everything work. Either it's not working now or I've forgotton how to use it.
Here's what I'm doing...
1 - From admin click on tools>easy populate.
2 - Click on Download Complete tab-delimited .txt file to edit (Attributes Not Included).
3 - Import this file into Excel and make changes to various records.
4 - Export the file from Excel (making sure it's still in Tab Delimited format.
5 - Back to easy populate... On Upload EP File click on Browse and select my file (the one I exported from Excel).
6 - Click on Insert into db.
The file is then uploaded and (I presume) changes made to the database.
Here is the output from Easy Populate:
Upload Results
File uploaded.
Temporary filename: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\phpA11.tmp
User filename: import.txt
Size: 721949
Upload Complete
Now, I remember (from past experience) that Easy Populate should output more information than this if it's been successful.
Am I doing something wrong?
Maybe the value of the v_status column in my EP file has to be changed.

I was getting the same thing until I changed the permissions on the temp folder to 777; at least i think it was the temp folder. I've got one of those summer colds and down south we use a Jack Daniels Toddy to make it all better, between that and the nyquil i might be off. But I'm pretty sure that's what I had to do.
Re: Easy Populate support
Thanks for the quick reply. I've tried editing the permissions on that folder, but had no luck.
Are you running IIS 6.0 (or any version of IIS)? If so, which user account(s) did you change the permissions on?
