Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread
Hi everyone,
I recently had some work done on my site and my installation of MultiSite got overwritten. I managed to re-install it but now I see that the box for "Customers who bought this product also purchased..." shows products from both sites. I never noticed this before - does anyone else have this problem?

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread
I have some serious problem. The template switch want work on the second www. (lets say www.mysite2.com) I have chosen to forward the second site to the first is that a problem? If yes witch method shod I use?
But if I use the direct link to my site (lets say http://mysite2.com.scorpionshops.com/ ) it works. But hers just some symbolic links pointing to the right files. But in this mode it works.
Can some one help me?
Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread
Can this module be used for two shops on the same domain?
I have www.mydomain.com/shop1 and www.mydomain.com/shop2 and want to share customer details between the two shops. Basically, i don't want for customers who have already registered on shop1 to have to go through the whole registration process again on shop2.

Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread
OK, now I'm confused...
staypop says no problem, fotofx says it can't be done...
@fotofx: this is not the solution i'm after. I've been reading about seo and google's preferences and came to the conclusion that google likes folder better than subdomains. Actually, google would then index my site as a single content-rich site and subdomains are considered as individual sites. I would like my frontpage to have a few images for different departments of my company that would link to folders. Google will see that as internal links. If i use subdomains, google will see it as external links and my domain will be content-empty. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread
The mod will look at mydomain.com/site1 and /site2 as being the same domain. Using site1.mydomain.com is seen as a seperate domain.
With Zen Cart it is POSSIBLE to do anything, but the mod will not work using /site1 /site2 using the mod as-is..
Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread
Let me clarify a bit... Using subdirectories would make the home directories and thus the cart root as being in seperate places as two seperate carts.
By using site1. etc.. You are using an DNS A record to point both sites to the SAME home directory and files. The mod looks at the header to determine what site was entered and then uses an override file to overwrite any or all of the loaded MySql configuration data while still using all the same files.
Template selection comes from MySql and can be changed using the same override file.
Hope this helps..
Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread
wow, first of all, thank you for such a quick answer.
OK, i guess i'll have to go with subdomains cause this unique login for customers is a must-have.
BTW, am i right about google and the advantage of using folders over subdomains?
Once again, thank you very much for your help.
Re: MultiSite Module Support Thread
Just as Zen Cart does... Google would look at folders as being part of the same site..
Seperate A records would indicate seperate sites but I am not sure how it is scored.
I have one cart running the mod with 5 domains on it. All seem to do fairly well in Google and in some searches will occupy most of the first Google page.
