Re: Discount Coupon Guide?!
Ive seen others in this thread with the same problem and haven't found a solution yet.
I create a coupon including HTML message in 'coupon admin'. when I click the email button it offers 2 text boxes rather than the HTML message coupon I created. The name of the HTML coupon I created is in the first field but the text boxes are sample text "We're pleased to offer you a Store Coupon."
How do I send the HTML coupon I created?
Re: Discount Coupon Guide?!
The HTML box is for the HTML portion of the email ...
The TEXT box is for the TEXT portion of the email ...
Some people cannot see HTML emails so you need a TEXT portion ...
Re: Discount Coupon Guide?!
So is it that I need to paste the HTML (and text option) in each time I send. I thought when I created the coupon it would save like i does in Newsletters
Re: Discount Coupon Guide?!
No ... you need to make a test and have both boxes filled for theHTML and TEXT to see what the customer will get ...
The TEXT is basically exactly what you type ...
You have to keep in mind what customers get for both methods ...
You cannot use the HTML in the TEXT because the TEXT is just that, TEXT ... and you cannot make that look all fancy ... you need to make it look good for a person reading TEXT emails ...
Re: Discount Coupon Guide?!
I dont think I explained my problem well.
I do understand the HTM and text boxes as they are like the ones I used in the Newsletter admin.
My problem is when I create a coupon and put HTML in its box and text in its box, define the term and dollar amount and such and click Preview, all is good, then save.
Now I go back to that coupon (call it #1) and select edit and then preview; all still looks good.
Problem is when I select the email button, it opens with the default text in both HTML and text areas even though at the top is says its coupon #1.
Re: Discount Coupon Guide?!
Could you put your HTML into a NotePad file and your TEXT into another NotePad file and zip them then add it as an attachment here?
2 Attachment(s)
Re: Discount Coupon Guide?!
Ok, here they are....
Just noticing that the "insert" area does not have a separate place for plain text so only the HTML has been attempted in testing (I know the text version is slightly different)
Re: Discount Coupon Guide?!
Make sure that when you test this that the customer is an HTML customer ...
And they will get the HTML email ...
The TEXT email is built in 3 peices:
This part is when you hit the email coupon button and enter TEXT
Quote:
We're pleased to offer you a Store Coupon
This is on the SEND email.
This is from the language file:
Quote:
You can redeem this coupon during checkout. Just enter the code in the box
provided, and click on the redeem button.
The coupon code is TESTELEVEN
The coupon is valid between 11/30/2010 and 11/30/2011
Don't lose the coupon code, make sure to keep the code safe so you can
benefit from this special offer.
This is from the EDIT of the coupon when you Add/Edit:
Quote:
This is on the EDIT Discount Coupon
Then the HTML is the HTML that you add on the SEND ...
Now those customers with HTML selected get both the HTML and TEXT ... those with the TEXT selected get just the TEXT ...
Re: Discount Coupon Guide?!
Thanks so much...I'll give it a try
Re: Discount Coupon Guide?!
I have Zen Cart 1.3.9d. When I send out an email from the coupon code admin to my test customer, it sends out 2 emails. One has the subject line that I entered into the email form and the other has a subject line with "[DISCOUNT COUPONS]" in front of the subject line that I entered. What in the world am I doing wrong?
