Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
Greetings Clyde & Everyone,
Regarding Ver. 3.3.1.
I recently installed version 3.3.1
I have two things I am trying to get working with it but have had no success.
First task:
I am trying to add Captcha GD & TTF to it.
when I add the code in header_php.php & the template file "where I believe" it goes all I get is a blank screen.
Second task:
In a modifed version of 3.30 I ran previously (Thanks Oxy), visitors could add a banner URL when they posted a link. I noticed that adding an image is available through the admin but not on the submit link form. I would love to have this again.
I am way below a novice when it comes to php, so any insight would be awesome.

As for your first task: download Captcha GD & TTF and install it.
Make sure you run a file compare between the links manager files and the ones that comes with Captcha GD & TTF.
Your Second task:
I'm not familiar with the modified version you are referring to. Do you have a copy of it you could share.

I'll reexplore the Captcha thing later tonight.
As for the custom version, I obtained it though a horse trade with oxicottin several months back.

Amy,
Do you want them to be able to upload the image or link to an image on their site?

I would really like them to be able to upload a pic from their desktop. For the few links I have added, I have hotlinked to the image since it is cumbersome to download and upload an image when I add the images myself. But some people despise hotlinking to their sites, so ultimately, I would like to be able to have them upload from their desktops. To me, that is the best option if they want to display a pic.

I have to agree on not hotlinking and would prefer the upload option also.
Do you want it as a "required" or "optional" field?

Hmm, that's a good question. I know I really like the look of the pics in the directory but don't want to run off link partners who don't want to post a pic. I can't image not wanting to give your link the personality that an image gives. What do you think?

would it be too much of a pain to make this and the hotlinking/uploading thing optional choices based on admin preference? just throwing out a suggestion from the back of the class, lol
-
Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
I don't know if this is easy or hard to do, but here's my suggestion.
Have it as optional but set a 'missing image' image as the default. If someone includes their own image, great. If not, their link will still be lined up with the rest and everthing will be in order.

OK, I'll make it admin selectable (just like some of the other options) but make it optional with a default image.
I'll also add a default image folder in the admin probably images/link_images.

Can you guys check out the banner image upload option for Links Manager.
You can do it here
Let me know if This is close to what you wanted.
Note: Please try it both ways 1 upload an image and 2 no image.
Many Thanks

Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
I just submitted my link. I uploaded my logo since it said "banner image". I would rather have a thumbnail for each entry than a banner. Or maybe an option for a banner separate from a thumbnail. Have you heard of www.thumbshots.com ? They automatically do a thumbnail sized screenshot of the home page of the site in question. I had this service from a similar site: www.girafa.com It was for a link directory I created. I am letting the link directory expire. The girafa thumbs do work for the site anymore and I don't have time to find out why. It looks like they're still in business and maybe still a free service but perhaps I needed to update something I don't know about to get the thumbs to show up again. It was an addon that someone else created for phpLD. Just thinking out loud. I don't know if you are interested in doing something like that.

Check you link here
There is an option in the admin to set the size of the link image.
I don't know what your original image size was but it shows up on the links page at the settings I have in my admin options 150 x 30.

That's cool. I will make sure to list what the dimensions will be to submitters so that they know. I appreciate your adding this feature and putting all the images for links in their own folder :o)

I just added my link and left my image at it's original size (not sure what that is even). I'm curious to see how it appears. I'd think most people are not going to resize and shape their image just for a link from my site. As long as it appears proportional, I'm thinking it's fine.

Amy,
How did you do the "Date Reminder" option? I'd like to try adding something similar to my daughter's web site.

Check your link here.
As I told Amy, the image will resize to whatever settings you have in the admin options.

Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
Hi Clyde,
I have a small problem and I don't seem to be able to fix it. My popup help window is useing the background image even though I have changed the tpl_main_page.php file to:
?>
<body id="popuplinkshelp">
<div>
<p><a href="javascript:window.close();"><?php echo TEXT_CURRENT_CLOSE_WINDOW; ?></a></p>
</div>
</body>
I have also changed my css file to:
}
#popupShippingEstimator, #popupLinksHelp, #popupSearchHelp, #popupAdditionalImage, #popupImage, #popupCVVHelp, #popupCouponHelp, #popupAtrribsQuantityPricesHelp, #infoShoppingCart {
background-color : #eee8aa;
background-image: none;
}
I have no idea what is happening as my other popup windowa are working fine and they are useing the background colour as per above of #eee8aa. Can you throw any light on what may be happening. Thanks

I was having the same problem as wsmith48 and wsmith48_fix_2.zip did work to let me in the admin area. But, am still having problems.
It is not showing in the side box at all - the status does not appear to work - and when I click the "check link" button I get:
Warning: file(): URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /edenblue/admin/links.php on line 644
Warning: file(http://mysticmountainnaturals.com/testsite): failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /edenblue/admin/links.php on line 644
This looks like a really neat addition, and I really want to use it - please help.

Which sidebox? If you mean the links sidebox for your "store page" that should show up when you have at least one link in the database.

On the first page that shows the links, there are two graphic buttons on red and one green. click the green button to approve a link.

This fixed the check link error - and the test link and my own appear to now be active. However it is still not showing on the site I'm working on - http://edenblue.gazebo-store.com

Changed to: allow_url_fopen = on
This fixed the check link error - and the test link and my own appear to now be active. However it is still not showing on the site I'm working on -
http://edenblue.gazebo-store.com
This may seem like an obvious question - but have you turned on the sidebox in admin -> tools -> layout boxes controller
Have you activated the category(ies) for your links?
You have 2 links listed in the category "zen cart development"
-
Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
Although I didn't realize I needed to activate the category - I just checked and it is enabled.
Layout boxes are set:
sideboxes/lavender/links_box.phpON RIGHT 6060ON

Re: Link Manager - 2nd thought
I was looking through the forum - and what I really want is a link in the information box like www.veroniqueknitwear.com has it.
I can get to the pages up by putting them in direct, so how do I add it to the information box? Then my problem is solved, lol.

open includes/modules/sideboxes/information.php
add the following where you wish the link information to appear
$information[] = '<a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_LINKS) . '">' . BOX_HEADING_LINK_CATEGORIES . '</a>';
save the file to includes/modules/sideboxes/YOUR_TEMPLATE/information.php
upload the file to your server

This update has been revamped to remove the tables that were in the previous versions and has been updated to be compatible with Zen Cart version 1.3.6. Fixed all line break <br /> errors.
Does anybody know if it works in version 1.3.0.2?
Thanks!!

Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
Hi,
Is the latest version of Link Manager compatible with ZenCart v1.3.7? I just uploaded all the files and I am getting the following error in the admin. Please advise. Thanks in advance.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/dealbyet/public_html/admin/includes/boxes/extra_boxes/links_extras_dhtml.php on line 17
-
Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
okay, fixed the problem by including a } above ?>.
I don't seem to have the following. Did I do something wrong?
Admin -> Extras -> Links (allows creating & editing of links)
Admin -> Extras -> Link Categories (allows creating & editing of categories)
Admin -> Extras -> Links Contact (allows the sending of e-mails)
-
Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
ok, sorry I run the patch and they show up now. Thanks :)

Double check your install carefully and make sure when you added the sql that it all took. If your not sure, try the copy and paste method section by section from the sql file to see if it got everything. Seems like it didn't.

Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
Yes, I know about that, but that is after the link is submited.
the problems I have is I get lots of "Spamers" submiting "junk links" and would like to try and stop that. if i could get it to check for a link back at time the link is submited, that would stop

You could also use the CAPTCHA mod but make sure to run a file comparison of the links manager related files.
-
Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
I will try that, but I think they are being hand entered, so having the link back checked when they are submiting would help alot

Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
I've tried searching through this thread for 2 days now & can't find the answer I'm looking for.
So here goes with the really stupid query.......
I'm confused with altering YOUR_TEMPLATE anywhere else other than includes/templates because I'm using a free template that only involved me uploading a folder into the templates folder, there was nothing to upload to any other folder. So I don't know what to do with the folders called YOUR_TEMPLATE in the includes/languages and includes/modules folders.
Can someone please explain this to me as if I'm a five year old? :blink:

OK. So I change YOUR_TEMPLATE to the appropriate name, ftp the files and add the sql to the database, but.....
when I log in to admin side I get the following error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in *****/admin/includes/boxes/extra_boxes/links_extras_dhtml.php on line 17
Any ideas?

Yep, just unzip the file and upload the entire admin folder to your server

Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
I got a question. I just downloaded the 3.3.1 release and there are no directory folders. All the files are free floating. Is that normal? There's a lot of files and where do they all go?
I'm on a mac if that makes a difference. Thanks

inside the zip file you should see:
New_install (folder)
upgrade (folder
(inside these folders are several folders and files used to install or upgrade the mod.)
uninstall.txt (text file)
upgrade.txt (text file)
uninstall_links_manager.sql (sql file)
install.txt (text file)
readme.txt (txt file)
-
Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
I just downloaded the zip file for the 3rd time and the file structure is still the same. No folders, just lots of floating files. I'm using stuffit expander to decompress the zip file.

was able to unzip (expand) the archive without problem:
file/folder structure as it should be.

Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
Ahhh. Worked this time. Wonder why my previous downloads where without their designated folders. Really strange.

Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
Ok, I've installed your mod before Clyde but this is the first time I've actually had to add a banner for a client and put it to use.
I think I must be a moron or something....lol
1. I have the submit links turned off in Admin, and it is gone from the sidebox, but the submit link button is still there on the link pages (2 places)
2. I cannot for the life of me figure out what the heck the first link page is. I thought is was supposed to be the first page that perhaps a large image of the banner was displayed on.
All I keep getting on this page is a red x from a transparent gif in the images directory and that dang submit link button. The missing image (whatever it may be of) links to a second page with a tiny image of the banner with my description, and a clicks count way down at the far right end and a second submit link button.
I have read the instructions. Applied 2 patch files. Am running the latest download. Did the sql statements. Cleaned my glasses and re-read the docs. Ate some cake...then tried it again and had the same results only with a full tummy.
Where did I go wrong?

Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
I hope I'm in the right place..... I'm new to ZC (1.3.8a) so go easy on me.....
I've installed LinkManager (latest release) on a Linux/Apache2.x/php5.0.4 machine....
My problem is that when I click on "submit link" I see my company name / address, but no submit form... also, I created 2 extra test categories and added links into them via the admin interface, but they don't show up when they are clicked on either... I've looked in the logs and have found no errors coming out.... I'm puzzled..... could someone point me in the direction of where to look? I don't yet understand the ZC structure, so my code searching capabiliies is limited until I get the hang of it.
site in question: http://www.guns-knives-shirts.com
Thanks

I just checked it with IE 7 and FF (latest version) and the submit form is there for me and the test links you put in from admin also show. Did you fix it? If not, try clearing the cache in your browser and check again.

Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
Thanks for looking into it .... I was able to fix it.... I normally only need a chmod 755 to get things working, but out of desparation I chmod 777 the whole directory, and wholla!! it worked.... I'm still not sure of why the write permissions were needed to make a submit form display, but sometimes it's better not to ask.
Thanks again for looking into it

Re: Link Manager 3.0 release
Hi
I have a question with regard to markup validation errors due to links manager. Please see below;
# Error Line 147, Column 36: XML Parsing Error: attributes construct error.
<img src="images/Fashion.gif"alt="Fashion." title=" Fashion. " width="72"
# Error Line 147, Column 36: XML Parsing Error: Couldn't find end of Start Tag img line 147.
<img src="images/Fashion.gif"alt="Fashion." title=" Fashion. " width="72"
These are all due to links manager and although I have looked using my VERY limited PHP skills I cannot find the file which is causing these two errors to happen . Hope someone can help because the site otherwise is complient.
thanks
