Re: Chemo's Ultimate URL's
As an extra precaution, I made this my zen_href_link function:
PHP Code:
function zen_href_link($page='',$parameters='',$connection='NONSSL',$add_session_id=true,$search_engine_safe=true,$static=false,$use_dir_ws_catalog=true){
if(!$link=$GLOBALS['SeoUrl']->buildHrefLink($page,$parameters,$connection,$add_session_id,$static,$use_dir_ws_catalog))
return zen_href_link_stock($page,$parameters,$connection,$add_session_id,$search_engine_safe,$static,$use_dir_ws_catalog);
else
return $link;
}
Re: Chemo's Ultimate URL's
ok ive tried installing this on a v1.3.6 templated site and a stock v1.3.7 site and I just cannot get it to work.
If anyone is willing to help me out I can give you $100USD upon a successful install.
It seems to always install but when I go to admin to activate it it has the error
Fatal error: Class coreadvancedsearchresultseourlplugin: Cannot inherit from undefined class coreadvancedsearchseourlplugin in /home/xxx/public_html/includes/classes/seo/seo.url_plugins/__core__/advanced_search_result.php on line 14
this error is similar on both v1.3.6 and the v1.3.7 install using the 3.0 beta 1 they are both on seperate servers so I must be doing something wrong :(

Hey bud, are you trying the newest version of Ultimate SEO URLs? I reckon the newest version is 3.0.1 BETA. Be sure that you're using that one, and not the previous 2x version of the plug-in.
Here's a URL where the newest official BETA version is hosted: http://www.smarterwebdev.com/pub/zencart/seo_urls/
Here's a post that has an attachment of an unofficial BETA version: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=693
Note that the date on the first link is 03/01/2007, and the date on the second link is 03/29/2007. The second one is newer, but it's unofficial. Personally, that's the one that I use. It seems to work just fine. I also implemented that bit of code from my previous post.
Re: Chemo's Ultimate URL's
yea thats the one ive for v3 beta 1
just incase it was different I uploaded the files and it still has the same error :(
Re: Chemo's Ultimate URL's
Anyones advice would be great. I have been doing some researching and found out that everyone that is in my feild of products such as ######### toys all have something like this chemos ultimate urls.
For instance babeland, adam eve, and many many more of your top stores in the top places in google and yahoo. Babeland actually uses ultimate urls and is in no# 1 spot in yahoo.
My question is if I change my store over to it now how much will it affect me.
Wouldn't it be as easy as just submitting a new sitemap and urlist to yahoo to change stuff over?
A bit about my situation:
I am not up and running
I am still entering prodcuts about 22,000 more
I am indexed by google 236 times
I am indexed by yahoo 27 times
my site http://orgazmictoys.com i also sell ######### toys. I am just advising before you go there.

I've looked and looked but been unable to find any evidence that 'SEO' urls improve search engine rankings. As far as I can tell they make no difference at all. It is possible that a few years ago they did, but now everyone thinks they should use them because everyone else is using them.
Personally I would suggest that there are lots of other things that can be done to a site which will give much better results.
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Christian.

Great thanks for your advice. If it isn't really going to give me the extra edge then there isn't really any reason to use it. I kinda always thought that robots could read anything anyways and they can convert numbers just as good as letters.

WE found it improved results by about a third, but our business relies a lot on people using keywords to search for a product, not a business type. In fact "keyword in URL" comes in at number one in this tips list
http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/inte...ng-factors.htm
Secondly, and just as important, it just looks SO much more professional! The standard random crap that Zen spurts out is so...1997! Would YOU want to read that to a customer? No. Neither would we.
It's entirely optional, but it's about being professional.
Re: Chemo's Ultimate URL's
Yes ... I hate to go to Best Buy and getting those sloppy URLs of theirs:
Code:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8276661&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat103700050053&id=1171671628685
Amazing they can even stay in business ... :rolleyes:

I couldn't agree more Linda. As for Amazon just take a look at this...
Code:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0545010225/ref=amb_link_4694252_1/103-7369936-9135058?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=right-2&pf_rd_r=099MM70Y1PGRQZ2JXPMT&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=285311301&pf_rd_i=507846
Soooo unprofessional, how on earth would they ever read that out to a customer. They had better get some keywords in those URLs ASAP or they will be out of business. :shocking:
Christian.
