Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
Hello
I have a problem
I need different image sizes for each category.
The thing is
I am selling pins or button badges and I want the picture to bee 90 px x 90 px in the category of Pins , because it is near the actual sizes of the pin.
But we will sell T-shirts and I need a picture bigger than that for that product, maybe 200 px
In the other categories also I would like to have custom picture sizes too,
and In the main page I need the pictures to be 150 px
what can I do
Because when I put 90 px x 90 px for the sub categories it changes the pictures of all sub categories and the pictures of the main page categories
thanks for your help

Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
If you set the widths to the largest value and heights to 0, smaller images will show at their actual sizes. This assumes you have loaded image files that are exactly the pixel size you want them to display at, which is what you should be doing.
Configuration > Images >
Subcategory Image Width 200
Subcategory Image Height 0
Image - Product Listing Width 200
Image - Product Listing Height 0
The subcategories will hold a space for the largest images; narrower ones will generally be aligned in that space according to the applicable stylesheet rule.
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
Hello
Thank you for your response
It seams a very good idea.
but my probles is that if i do that then in the page of the product when people will click to view a large version of the image, that image will have the same size of the
main image of the product, right now i have set the images of the pins or button badges for the main picture 90 px x 90 px based on a n image of 392 x 392 px that is the image you can see when clicking to enlarge..
any other ideas are welcome
thanks
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
You should be making your images the exact pixel size you want them to display at, for each of small/medium/large versions.
You can save the large image at 392 x 392 px as pin123_LRG.jpg, then the medium image at 150 x 150 px as pin123_MED.jpg, and the small image at 90 x 90 px as pin123.jpg.
Then all of them will load as fast as possible and have the best image quality possible. See the image tutorials for discussion of why this is the best way to do it.
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
where do I find the image tutorials.
I donīt see it in faq or in the categories of this forum
and i doīt find it with the search engine either
thanks

Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
I have problem with this:
HTML Code:
by: Ajeh - Linda McGrath
A product owns 1 filename ...
Note: the base image name is the original image name loaded for the product.
The concept of multiple images is best explained using an example:
From the Admin, you edit a product and specify an image file called:
a_bugs_life.gif
and put it in the
/images/dvd directory via the drop down.
Now you use your FTP program to upload additional images to /images/dvd
* a_bugs_life_01.gif
* a_bugs_life_02.gif
* a_bugs_life_03.gif
* a_bugs_life_04.gif
In my site, right now I have 3 products, and theri pictures are mixed with other pictures in /www/images/ and no one of them have their on folder as mentioned there
the name of mi product are 0002-flecha cursor celeste.jpg and 0001-flecha cursor celeste.jpg
each one is a different product, and as i understood, from the that text, zencart should create a new folder called 0002-flecha cursor celeste.jpg with the image inside, right?
I dinīt se folders for my categories and sub categories ether.
I attach a picture of my folder
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
I was goinīg to make my self a a folder images/button_badges_pins
then images/button_badges_pins/0002-flecha cursor celeste via ftp
but this dosent make sense at all, it seams crazy
because 0002-flecha cursor celeste.jpg i a product, a button badge or pin,
and I have 348 pins and counting,
so this means than in the edit product the drop down menu will grow to much,
if I end up with 2000 products and each folder appear in this drop down menu,
it seams like hell of long, is crazy, or I am wrong, is this the way it works to get more then one picture in the product description page?
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
well I understood better now how to get more then one picture for the product description page, i did it and it works.
but i have a question
I sell pins ok, but I sell a pack of 6 pins minimum
and it would be nice to add a picture o the six pack pins in each of the product description page of the pins, but since it is the same image to rename it 365 times and upload it 365 time the same image with a different names is crazy.
it is possible to show a same picture with only one name in all mi pins description pages?
thanks for your guidance, there is to much information to proses when working with zencart for the first time, that there is a lot that end up mising
but little by little and with the help of the members of this forum i am going toward the mastering of it or something near that, hopefully :smartalec:
thank you
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
mmm I have a problem second question
I could add a second image to the product description page when loading that image to image/ but when loading it to image/medium it dosenīt appear
been 0001-flecha cursor roja 2.jpg the name for the second image
images/0001-flecha cursor roja 2.jpg shows up in product description page
images/medium/0001-flecha cursor roja 2.jpg this way dosenīt show up in products description páge
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
a and Show Product Additional Images is on so is not that
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
You need to read the image tutorial all the way through. It tells how to use _MED and _LRG added to the image names to get the medium and large images recognized.
Also, you usually don't need separate subcategories for different products/manufacturers/etc. unless you have a huge number of them.
Additional images don't use the "medium" image at all, just the small and large.
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
yes I reed it many times but
I add the second image for 0001-flecha cursor roja.jpg as 0001-flecha cursor roja 2_LRG.jpg in /images/large/ and the picture dosenīt show up in the product description page
a and the suffixes is _LRG and the option to show additional images is on
what I am doing wrong?
:(
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
You don't just put the large additional image in place - you need the small additional image, which is what will show on the product info page.
Are the image filenames really
0001-flecha cursor roja.jpg
and
0001-flecha cursor roja 2_LRG.jpg
(with spaces)?
Filenames with spaces or special characters may not be read correctly by the program. You should never use spaces in filenames; use _ or - instead.
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
thank you i changed all the files name and added _ :bigups:
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
How can i set for vbulletin each categorie a image
I have a example just like http://forums.marokko.nl they have each categorie a own image..
Who have this plugin or mod?
Thnx
Re: Ineed diferent image sizes for each category
If you are trying to get images for a vbulletin installation, you need to ask in a vbulletin support forum. Nobody here will have that information, short of a stroke of luck. (Just because this forum runs on vbulletin doesn't mean the devs will see your question or have an answer.)

A quick Google search brought up this link:
http://www.creationlab.info/2008/09/...tegory-strips/
Vbulletin questions really should be posted on vbulletin.org though (providing you are a verified customer), or google usually brings and answer :)
