Need thoughts on which one is the best to install and use with Windows Vista
As just a dev base, I like easyphp...
If you want or need mail etc Xamp seems better suited
Kobra,
Is there a tutorial/faq for easpPHP????
Not that I have seen or it is in French???
But is is so "Easy" one needs little
Kobra,
All went well but no little flashing box by the bottom corner of the E when started
- using Vista
- error message: unexpected end of mysql
I do not use Vista and have ripped it off every thing I own with Windoze. But as I recall, you must be logged in as an admin to install/run this or any of the others
You should when successful, have a CP in the tool bar at the bottom and all can be run from there....might try if you have it to restart mysql and or both
And don't install in C:/Program Files.
Ts,
Ok,
- Operating System: Vista Home
- downloaded file to:
- C:/users/xxxxxx/downloads/EasyPHP 3.9
- rebooted computer
- click the easyphp icon
- E, with red box on right bottom corner appears in system tray
- Right mouse clicked: Started the process
- Mouse hover over Icon: says started
- Now: No blinking red square again
- In browser: Firefox
- http://localhost
- nothing
- :lamo:
- What next
Well, I have seen this problem with xampp.
Are you able to install to C:\ and NOT another folder?
In Windows, I made a folder called C:\web and installed to that.
Or if it still gives you headaches, use xampp.
Nothing??? Not even a dir list that is empty?Quote:
Is this reinstall what you are talking about?Quote:
Yes nothing
1. Uninstalled and reinstalled to
2. C:/EasyPHP 3.0
Try creating a couple of folders at
C:/EasyPHP 3.0/www/created_folders
Then see if you get a list in the browser at localhost
Kobra,
- easyPHP (started)
- created folders
- browser I typed:
- nothing
Try WAMP, it is very easy to use and install.
M,
Did that no go..
- Windows Vista
- downloaded the install program in the free software add ons
- restarted computer
- click on icon on desktop
- system tray icon appears all white
- type in browser
- http://localhost
- nothing
Try http://127.0.0.1/ instead of http://localhost.
Never done anything like that. Hope Kobra can help you.
I'm using ver 1.8.0.0 and it works well with Vista (except when installed in C:/Program Files, which won't let you edit any of the cart files). If you can't get 3.0 working, you might try 1.8.0.0.
Try renaming your folder to C:/EasyPHP instead of C:/EasyPHP 3.0
If Vista is not allowing port 80 assignment you should see an error in easyphp or any ?amp install...

Moderator's note: Thread moved to Installing on a Windows server.
Just a note - we're using XAMPP on Vista, no problems.
Create a directory called 'apachefriends' on the C drive and when installing tell it to install XAMPP in the apachefriends folder. When installed the pathway will be c:/apachefriends/xampp/htdocs/
Vger
thank you Kim,
Sorry about posting in the wrong section...
I turned off my firewall setting for System Suites and the old girl worked...
- now half to figure how to unblock the setting
- Yea
Thanks,
Kobra, TShooters, and The DOG, and who all else has commented, And I can't forget Dbltoe, my zen protege
- server accomplished
- just had to add a rule under my advanced setting in my firewall program to allow 127.0.0.1
So what did you end up with? Easyphp? or??
And how does it look for your purposes?
Kobra,
Easyphp 3.0
- I love it
- I don't half to create a duplicate folder on clients accounts, and rely on the internet for file transfers and web building
- Way too sweet to upgrade my little sites, zip the file, upload and them compress into the root, after I delete the old Zen Cart files
- Just takes time to look at the override files with Win Merge to transfer my changes
- But that is what my clients like when you redesign the core structure of Zen Cart
Like I stated initially, it is great for design work...just not full featured for functional things like payment communications or mail
:clap:WTG, Haredo! You'll love it.
Thanks, kobra!
