UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Shortly available in the download area will be the UK ParcelForce Shipping modules. Historically these were a part of the big_royalmail package which has now grown to 30+ shipping options through the post office, where ParcelForce was privatised and the services available in 2006 when the modules were launched have changed.
The initial release 2.3.4 is an extension of the original modules and deals with the already established international modules and adds the Global Priority service as a shipping option. The next modules available will be the same modules but for businesses with ParcelForce contracts/ accounts, the domestice services will be covered.
Included in the module is the UKZR module which enables a totally customised courier module to be created for any other courier, based on splitting the UK into mainland, Scottish highlands, Northern Ireland and other "remote locations" for which the courier services charge more. The final inclusion is the ukcourier modules which is a very simple module for shop owners that don't want to go for the complexity of splitting the UK and will charge a flate rate based upon weight alone.
Thank you,
Philip Clarke.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Totall forgot to mention that the "Economy" International service to the USA and Rest of the World is also now included in this package.
Versioning starts at 2.3.4 as the codebase is the same as the big_royalmail modules.
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Good news the split modules have now been approved so for the Royal mail the download for 2.3.4 is here
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=294
for ParcelForce it is here:
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...oducts_id=1308
will all ParcelForce and courier enquiries now move to the new thread at:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...ht=parcelforce
ParcelForce will be gettting a lot of work done over the next few weeks, with more services added and the existing ones corrected, Ireland 24 was added last night to a test version and will shortly be released, as well as versions for account holders. Finally ParcelForce 24 and the internal UK delivery options might be added.
Thank you
Philip.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Hi, am using Zen 1.38a
Having problems with the ukzr. Is this meant as a stand-alone courier module? Or one to be used with something else.
I have set up the counties etc by modifying the uk friendly template from mutual advantage. All are set to UK, with no duplicates for ENG, Wal, Scot, NI. ROI & Channel Isls still separate.
In the definitions, each is set up individually by country/county 118 in Zone 1, 10 in 2 and 9 in 3, as per the instructions.
I have set up a customer, located in the uk, but I get the message
"Not Available At This Time
Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time.
Please contact us for alternate arrangements."
Any ideas where to start looking, or if you need more info please ask.
Thanks.
Matt.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Sorry for the delayed replay. I installed this module for someone professionally this week and there does appear to be some problems with it. (It was written in 2006 and Zencart moved on)
There's a couple of things to check, 1) the shopping cart has items with weight in them. 2) the weight has got a rate 3) the cart's price does not exceed any limits you've set up.
If all those three things are correct (I trust you on the zones), then try logging out and using the shipping estimator with just one item in the cart, to see if it will give you a value. (I suspect that I will have to re-write this module tonight regardless.
Thanks
Philip.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Hi Phil, no probs on the delay... don't expect you to be sat here 24/7 waiting for a question :D.
No luck with the, 1 item. I've set up some test products specifically for this, 0.1,0.5,1,2,5,10, & 15 kg.
By the weight has a rate, I'm guessing you mean it's not over the maximum.
I have rates set at the below:
Zone 1 - Max 30kgs
1:2.49, 5:5.60, 25:6.25, 26:6.50, 27:6.75, 28:7.00, 29:7.25, 30:7.50
Zone 2 - Max 30kgs - +100% to Zone 1
1:4.99, 5:11.20, 25:12.50, 26:13.00, 27:13.50, 28:14.00, 29:14.50, 30:15.00
Zone 3 - Max 30kgs - +150% to Zone 1
1:6.25, 5:14.00, 25:15.75, 26:16.25, 27:16.90, 28:17.5, 29:18.25, 30:18.75
Price is same as the weight.. ie 10p, 50p, £1, etc, etc.
Max price on ukzr is £150.
Free shipping is not enabled, either in the admin menu or in the modules (though I have tried it with them on, just in case).
Shipping estimator doesn't show up any rates. Though I enabled the simple uk courier and that shows (although it ignores zones, as you said).
Hope this helps.
Matt.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Okay and just to confirm, you have tested as a Guest without logging on ? because ZC goes through two differnt channels when on is a guest, and you do have a selection box with the UK counties coming up in your template ?
Oh and some people doexpect me to be around 24/7 and to work for free for days at their beck & call. I have the kids today so I will only be able to set up a proper testing facility after 8pm, but the installation looks very valid and you've helpfully rovided me with a lot of extra information as opposed to the normal "it don't work"!
Thanks
Philip
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Yeah, had to re-enable the prices when not logged in... took me a minute to realise why nothing was showing.
Not sure which selection box so I'll list a few with counties and hopefully hit the one you mean.
Creating account, zone definitions, store setup (location), shipping estimator, tax (via an already defined zone), errr, can't think of any others that would be relevant...
Ta.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
I have "possibly" got a fix:
http://########################.co.uk/versions/ukzr.txt
if you put this in includes/modules/shipping/ukzr.php overwriting your current file, it might work for you. (it's a text file on my server to stop it just splurging php). The current version of ukzr is bug-ridden, it will take a long time to sort out, it didn't take conversion to a new format that I am working on (to make moudle generation simpler) so this is a reversion to an older one that appears to work on my system although it does display an un-necessary parlforce loge, that I'm sure you can remove. Just put the file in place, do not remove and install as you may loose you work so far.
Thanks
Philip.
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Initial success!
I haven't got the time to test it thoroughly until later today, but swapping that in shows:
Courier shipping United Kingdom Zone Rates for Couriers.
UK Zone 1: 1 x 7.410kg(s) £14.25
So it looks good. Will have a look at the different zones and prices etc when I get home (or if I get some time at work).
As a side, it is parcelforce we are using... so the logo can stay, added bonus.
Thanks for the quick fix, will post again later.
Matt.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Please keep me informed either way, I shall probably roll back the UKZR module in the current zip file, rather than correct the errors that have propagated.
Thank you
Philip.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Hi, noticed at work, it doesn't show up if you use the estimator, and you're not logged in.
Other than that, it seems to work fine, I've changed zones, weights, and amounts, all good. Will say if I notice anything.
Thanks again.

Sent you a PM saying it is still broken !

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Following this thread avidly before I install UKZR - Any update on whether this works yet guys?
(If anyone can get it working then I am sure that nod can!)
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
ukzr is working with the link above posted, the last iss was that MattOG had not put all zones for his zone 1 United Kingdom file so when a county was not selected, the address was falling through the hole.
I appears to be fully functional if Zone 1 is set to UK all counties, and then the other zones are filled out as described in the PDF.
Philip.
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Thank you for the uber quick response Philip! I take it that I just have to install the ukzr.php file rather than the whole parcelforce module?
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Yes only the ukzr.php files in includes/modules and includes/languages/english etc... are needed rather than the whole parcelforce module.
just change this:
http://########################.co.uk/versions/ukzr.txt
to a php file for the includes/modules if you don't have the pdf with the instructions then it will be in one of the older big_royalmail packages. It's quite important as it breaks down the socttish counties, and if you don't have the counties then there is a sql file with all of them in, inside the folder "optional"
Philip.

Cheers Philip - I had the pdf but not the sql insertion for the counties - got that now from an old BRM package!
If you have a look at the "Shipping & Returns" info page on my site (the text in red) you will see that we currently have a problem ;)
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Yes I'm back...
I put the 'uk' -> 'all zones' in the first zone, and it didn't have an effect on the estimator, (though left it in to catch the 'no county' thing)... (Nice maths by the way :) ). But I did notice something.
I did have the 'optional extras' installed, removed them, then re-tested, and it works fine. No having to reload the screen, or click twice...
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
I'll have to have a look at the optional estimator templates then, the basis of those actually comes from 1.3.0 about July 2006 and all the optional estimator does is remove the ugly blocky shipping table border, nothing particularly fancy, but there's probably some compatibility with it and session management as ZC has got older. I may remove the "optional" estimator anyway, since a lot of people change their code entirely, no, a better way would be to sub folder it for 1.3.8 etc... because I think it's useful as it saves people having to root around their files trying to find which one to edit to remove a border.
Glad it's all got working apart from that. I'll start on another zip that will update th UKZR settings.

UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules version 2.3.5
UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules version 2.3.5 is now available, temporarily from my website until it is listed in the download area above.
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...oducts_id=1308
version 2.3.5 changes
For the first time account holders with Parcelforce are now catered for with the ability to put their discounts into specific International Datapost and Scheduled services. Also New are the Ireland 24 and Standard (non-account holder) services, while Eurozone 48 has been correctly renamed to Euro 48.
A lot of bug fixing has been happened to bring these modules up to to the high standard of the original Royal Mail modules.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
hello thanks for the help so far i am just having a poblem setting the zones up i have installed the sql and it seems ok but in the admin area zone definitions i dont have the following Click on Postal Zone 1 UKZR: Zone 1 Mainland UK,have i mjissed something or do i have to create it thenk you for the help
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Do a test, do an estimate shipping for something in Hampshire or any normal uk county. What happens is that UKZR mainland uk is a catch all, so if the county is not defined in Northern Ireland, or Highlands of Scotland, but still in the UK, then it should fall into Zone 1 and be calculated without any further action from yourself. Do not put all the uk counties into zone 1 as it's a a waste of time.
If that doesn't work PM me and I'll have a look.
Philip.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
have i missed the SQL update, I can't seem to find the updated postage rates for the parcel force shipping?
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
I'm just going to PM you about these updates.
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
hmmm i have an error saying theres an update sql? but i cant find it any where
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
The moudles are fully functional and GPL, the customers never get to see that the rates are out of date, it is an admin only message. The SQL update can be found here http://########################.co.uk/?r=12#pf or you can update the rate yourselves with the spreadsheet downloadable from the parcelforce website.
Thank you
Philip.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Hi Philip,
First, thanks for this moduel - it sounds exactly what I needed.
I'm having problems getting it to work on my test site though that could be down to me. It is correctly working out if customers are Zone 1,2 or 3 but the price it charges for postage is always zero.
I'm 100% sure I have zones set up correctly. This is what I have for the Zones:-
Postal Zone 1
UKZR: Zone 1 Mainland UK
Zone 1 Handling Fee
0
Zone 1 Shipping Table
1:2.49, 5:5.60, 25:6.25, 26:6.50, 27:6.75, 28:7.00, 29:7.25, 30:7.50
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Postal Zone 2
UKZR: Zone 2 Scottish Highlands
Zone 2 Handling Fee
0
Zone 2 Shipping Table
1:2.49, 5:5.60, 25:6.25, 26:6.50, 27:6.75, 28:7.00, 29:7.25, 30:14.50
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Postal Zone 3
UKZR: Zone 3 NI, Isles....
Zone 3 Handling Fee
0
Zone 3 Shipping Table
1:2.49, 5:5.60, 25:6.25, 26:6.50, 27:6.75, 28:7.00, 29:7.25, 30:14.50
My site is at www.pcbestbuy.co.uk if that will help.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again for your hard work.
John

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Good Morning,
I will have an in depth look later after the school run, but do you have weights set up for each item ? because I've just gone and put
http://www.pcbestbuy.co.uk/ink-cartr...-cartridge-p-4
in my basket and it's showing 0Kg and nothing in the shipping estimator. Can you also set "Hide invalid shipping" to "false" please.
Thank you
Philip.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Okay there is an error in UKZR 2.3.5 from a global search and replace that went wrong.
http://########################.co.uk/versions/ukzr.txt
is a corrected versions and it should be renamed ukzr.php and the used to overwrite includes/modules/shipping/ukzr.php you will not need to remove and re-install it, the shipping, weights and number of boxes should now appear. Let me know how you get on, then it'll be put into the next package
thank you
Philip.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Hi Philip,
Thanks for the very quick responce. I've uploaded the new file and seems to work perfectly now and is bringing through the correct postal costs - helps I have updated them to the correct amounts.
Just one little problem I am trying to figure out though. During checkout the graphic isn't being displayed properly. I've attached a screenshot.
To be honest, I don't really want a graphic showing up - if it's not asking to much could you point me to what file and which part of it I would need to change so it doesn't show or try to show a graphic during checkout?
Thanks again for your help and your hard work on this mod - it is a fantastic.
Cheers
John
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Simple answer, look through your error logs and find which image it's asking for (it'll be missing), which I'm pretty sure is a parcelforce gif and upload a white gif to the images/icons folder to replace it.
Philip.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Hi,
Never thought of that but on looking at them there are no error's in the log.
Also, the graphic is supposed to be a ParcelForce one and it is in the directory it's supposed to be as per the install instructions but just shows as per attached screenshot
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Hi again,
Sorted. I edited includes/modules/shipping/ukzr.php file and removed this line:-
Code:
$this->icon = (( defined('DIR_WS_ICONS') ? DIR_WS_ICONS : 'images/icons/' ) . ('MODULE_SHIPPING_UKZR_GEOZONE_' . $n . '_ICON') );
From line 47 and seems to have done the trick.
Thanks again for all your work on this mode it's fantastic.
Cheers
John
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
I think it would have been slightly better to put a blank in there and also to find out why it wasn't working, mainly because the next update will break your website again and obviously I wouldn't recommend that.
Philip.
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Your probably correct but I don't understand how to put a blank in and can't understand why the icon wasn't being displayed as it was just a standard install.
My technical ability is limited to say the least so went with what I can do :-)
Thanks again for the mod - it was a life saver.
Cheers
John
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
I have found the bug now with the icon, so the next upgrade will probably pop a parcelforce gif onto your screen, but at least the gif will then be available to swap out.
Thanks
Philip.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
I have just submitted version 2.3.6 and removed the above as 2.3.6 works better. It should be available from the download area shortly, meanwhile here is a temporary link:
http://########################.co.uk/versions/P...rce_v2.3.6.zip
This release improves UKZR and makes the optional shipping estimator templates up to date and more accurate. Also it corrects a few errors in the county update SQL BUT this is not to be used on a existing shop it will duplicate counties and countries and can remove addresses from existing customers (btw I can fix it if anyone does this, but it is time consuming).

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Hi,
Just installed latest Parcelforce. Which part wil work for UK zones 1,2 and 3?
I also found that Norway is coming up as zone 12 when it should be zone 9. can any one please hep?
Dave Haslam
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Found the UK zones. but still need help with the Norway zone. Thanks.
Dave
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
You'll need to know which service you are altering, then you need to go into zone definitions and add Norway to zone 9 "rest of europe" I believe. This appears to be a bug left over from the Royal Mail mucking around with Norway 2 years ago, at one point they had it as an Airsure destination, then removed it outside of "europe" and then re-put it back in, I am guessing that I didn't put it back in when they did the second time.
I'll get an updated parcelforce module done this weekend and see if I can automatically slot it into the correct places, for the time being you'll have to manually do it for each service you are offering.
Thank you
Philip.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Thanks Philip,
I think im just about there now. Just need to work out the wieghts to read kg rather than lb in the product listing
Thanks

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
That's edited in includes/languages/english/SOMETHING OR OTHER it is something like TEXT_SHIPPING_WEIGHT and is just editing a text file.
Thank you

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
I installed the optional counties sql file in the Parcelforce folder and i already had UK_Counties installed and as i said in the other thread i did delete the duplicate entries but major headache time.
I get this error when trying to sign up for an account.
Is your first name correct? Our system requires a minimum of 2 characters. Please try again.
Error Your State must contain a minimum of 2 characters.
Error Your Post/ZIP Code must contain a minimum of 4 characters.
Error You must select a country from the Countries pull down menu.
Everything is correct but the error keeps showing.
How do i fix this.
Must i delete every UK entry and start again ?
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
In configuration > My Store, you had better check that your store is in the correct country and state first of all.
In the customer details section of configuration you can also choose not to display the "state" as a pull down, but you are now firmly into using some sql or phpmyadmin to clear up your zones because it is probable that when deleting the duplicate counties, some may be linked to one country id while others may be linked to a second. It would almost certainly be better at this stage to remove all UK sub zone using database manipulation and then redo the SQL. I do not recommend deleting all the zones otherwise you are going to need to do a total re-installation as it will wipe out the other countires in the world.

I have gone into MyPHPAdmin and deleted all the UK zones.
The rest of the world including the UK is fine and i just deleted the UK county zones.
Now here's a problem when i tried running the SQL script again it said the statements were processed but nothing is actually there.
Now heres an interesting thing. I have two other templates installed and i can sign up to an account using them but when i switch to the one i want to use it comes up with that error message.
That suggests that maybe it's something else causing the problem. Maybe the updated fast and easy checkout which i installed late last night.
I'll check that thread out and try and undo some steps did today for this template only.
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
You are right about configuration and store.
For some reason 222 was showing where United Kingdom had previously been showing. I fixed it and will try again. Hopefully that was the only problem apart from the SQL thing above.
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Managed to add the UK zones now and checked the tables and everything is correct in MyPHP.
Still getting a sign up error.
I'll check the fast and easy thread since i think i updated that last night for one template only and those other two templates work fine with the sign up process.
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Still having problems with one template and sign up.
Others work but cannot checkout.
I think PayPal does not recognise England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland as separate countries and it needs to be United Kingdom and GB.
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
In the perfect combination then England, Scotland etc.. should be sub-zones of the United Kingdom, but you can get aroung it by setting those countries to have the code GB and that certainly works as paypal accepts only the two country code. Now whether the fastpayment module is extracting the correct codes is not something to do with me but I have seen it configured correctlt on other people's system and configured it myself.
The one thing also worth mentioning is that if someone clicks on the fast pay button then it bypasses the whole log on/ account procedure and uses the country for the user's paypal ID so the zones in zencart are irrelevant apart from providing shipping information.
Philip.
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Well something wasn't right and i could take eight hours to fix it or maybe days so instead of that i have decided on a new fresh zencart install.
Did someone mention backups ? Yes well next time i will
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Perhaps this has been asked before, but I can't find it:
I want to make a county, such as Surrey or Somerset, into shipping zones defined in ukzr so that a package with the same weight are sent to these two counties at different charges. I have the UK set up as a country and all the counties, such as Surrey, listed as zones under UK. What would be the code to replace to go about this? I am aware that parcelforce charges the same to these counties, but the above is an example and I am looking for the principle behind how the ukzr shipping zones are defined.
thanks
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
There's a pdf inside the zip file that gives more help for setting up ukzr but very approximately it goes like this the UKZR is split into 3 different areas, - area 1 - most of the UK
- area 2 - highlands Island of Scotland
- area 3 - Northern Ireland
When you install the module then it creates "zone definitions" that you can find under locations/ taxes > zone definitions then you assign the places that you want into these zones. This has to be done manually because over the years people choose things like Scotland as a separate country to the United Kingdom and then there are things like Zetland as an alternative name for Shetland.
The module looks at the selected county and goes "right I'll use the rates for UKZR:2" is it's in that county. So the module is coded to look at the defined zones and is limited to three distinct areas. There is a module and a thread called MZMT somewhere which is MultiZone Multi-Table and that modules can have more rates quoted for differing zones but the mechanism is that same. You define an area to be in a specific "zone definition" and the module picks that up and quotes a postal rate for it.
Thank you
Philip.

UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules version 2.3.7 released
BUGFIX
version 2.3.7
VERY IMPORTANT TO READ THE UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS, the modules were designed not to overwrite any data set by the administrator, such as handling charges and unfortunately a bug has meant that this can happen if the instructions are not followed exactly.
Until it is available at the download area this update is located here:
https://www.3xlock.com/versions/ParcelForce_v2.3.7.zip

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
I only want to use the UK Parcel Force modules (at the moment we only deliver in the UK) but after installing the full Parcel Force module. I seem to have only International services. I certainly can't find Parcelforce 24 the one that offers Next Day delivery in the UK. Sorry, if I am missing something obvious I am a bit of a dummy when it comes to all this ...
-
Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
You will have to read the pdf called UKZR to use the UK parcelforce rates, as you are probably aware, within the UK parcelforce splits the country up into 3 zone, Mainland UK, Northen Irleand & the channel isalands, and the Highlands of scotland, so you have to configure your cart manually.
This is unfortunately quite a lot of work as it involves going through a county list for the UK, It cannot be set up automatically by the modules, because there have historically been many county lists with spelling errors etc... so one solution does not fit all. Also when zen cart creates a "zone" (e.g. the highlands) it adds it to database with a number that is automatically one greater than the last zone, because of this, there is no consistent numbering for the module to lock onto to perform a database update.
Philip.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Have installed this module following the PDF instructions. Enabling Euro 48 gives some very messed up zones - e.g:
EURO48: World Zone 5 Ireland (Republic of) consists of Greece, Italy, Portugal & Spain
EURO48: World Zone 8 Italy, Spain, Portugal & ; Greece consists of what is in ECONOMY WORLD ZONE 11: Far East & ; Australasia ( I checked by installing this afterwards)
Editing these zones to the correct contents and the Euro 48 still does not appear for any of the European countries. Choose France, get Store Pickup as the only delivery option. Uninstalling Euro 48 and reinstalling puts the zones back to the incorrect settings.
Will try on a completely fresh install and see what happens. I even ordered the SQL updates before I noticed this problem!

I have left the zencart project because I a) don't agree with them deleting my (defamatory and vulgar) posts, b) the project being financed by jsweb.co.uk who charges £75 to unzip and install the shipping module (and infers that the module is paid for). There is my email address in the zip files and if you click on my username.

I even ordered the SQL updates before I noticed this problem!
this is to confirm that EURO48 no longer works in version 2.3.7 which is available here on the zencart site. (well it does if you never try and install/ re-install or update anything and even then it gives you the wrong postal rates.
I am working on a fix, it will not be available from the download area.

I can also confirm that the economy service in version 2.3.7 does not function and places most countries into the incorrect zone.

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
Version 3.0 of ParcelForce will soon be ready, it should be noted that ParcelForce suddenly changed tehir prices unannounced on 5th October 2009 instead of the 1st January 2010, so all parcelforce pricing is now inaccurate.

It should also be noted that a fix shall shortly be avaiable as the names and have also changed from International Datapost to Global Express so all the define files have to change too. The email address for support is royal@########################.co.uk

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
The UK Royal mail and Parcelforce mod is vital for UK online shops if they are to succeed. I applaud your work on this and personally I would be happy to pay a modest fee to see it maintained.
Perhaps future versions can be made available with a "download fee" or some kind of subscription for the updates and the licence changed to prevent anyone from charging for unzipping the file, or at least capping the charge to a fee where the creator/maintainer is happy with and maybe even gets some form of revenue share in order to at least cover costs.
Failing this perhaps you should follow the example set by the Zencart Dev team and launch some merchanidising (Big Royal mail mug, cap and t-shirt) with perhaps a book on how to install, configure and use the shipping module. :)

Re: UK ParcelForce Shipping Modules
The existing code and modifications must be GPL. But as mentioned, not only do some of the modules no longer work correctly, ParcelForce also changed the names of the services on 5th October 2009. The only way to get the modules working is to have new self standing code and data to create zone definitions which would be outside of the GPL unless I chose to GPL it. I have the new code, both the GPL and the as yet to be decided Zone SQL.
