paypal sent payment but zen cart didn't record order
Received a paypal payment on an order but no idea what the customer ordered because zen cart didn't generate an order. It recorded the customers address and all info...but not the order!
Called paypal and they don't have a clue.
Note: recently I did migrate to a different server on the same host...could the problem be there?

If you're using the "PayPal IPN/Standard" module, then you'll need to get the communication from PayPal's server to *your* server working before you'll ever see any payments and therefore completed orders in your store.

It seems that just adding the 's' to http after getting that SLL cert did the trick and I put through an order myself and it worked~
Do you know of any way to get back yesterdays orders so that I can see what I was paid for? Would this be through paypal somehow?

i believe if you log into your paypal account and go to
'history' (i think) you can re-send it to the shop
OR i belive there is also a free addon called paypal push, which can fetch back the orders, but i have never used this.
I believe it will also fetch failed paypal orders and alike

The history thing didn't work. (in paypal).
But thanks. Eventually I'll figure it out. I'm exhausted over this whole thing. lol.
Do you have any idea how to fix how the confirmation email looks? In IE it looks fine, but in Firefox the image/header is overlapping the first few lines of the message.

yeah, paypal says it's not their issue, ...with finding WHAT was ordered or recovering that particular order that didn't record corerectly.

You have 2 options left:
a) the fastest is to contact your customer and get the details from them
b) as someone already told you, you could try the PayPal Push Order addon

I have a similar problem, except it works most of the time, but occasionally the is no order indformation, only PayPal money notification. Any idea?

It's one of the wonderful problems of dealing with Paypal. I have ours all set up properly but then there are times (like yesterday and today), that payments are coming through with no orders. Upon reviewing Paypal, everything is as it should be and nothing has changed on the site. So, you have to revert to asking the customer what they ordered and hope the glitch doesn't last long...sigh

Yes, it is true :-) But the Push contribution that I installed last night worked. It took me just a few minutes to install.

I must be blind because I can't find the "paypal push" add on in the add on section. Is it under another name?

I had this identical problem. I too thought it was PayPal but it wasn't. Fortunately I had a tech person to help. He found that there was an error in the database. He recompiled my database and the problem went away. Hope this helps.

Hey Guys,
I'm having a similar problem, but ONLY for the pay by credit card option, not on the paypal account option. So basically, the customer sends the order over to paypal, they choose to just pay by card and the order doesn't show in the admin area.
I've tried this on the sandbox and the order records just fine. This has happened with 4 of my clients customers in as many days.
Can anyone help me here?

Remember, Express Checkout doesn't have the problems discussed in this thread.

I am having this exact issue with every single order that comes through my website. I have tried all the troubleshooting tips on zencart and paypal, and have even spoke with my hosting account. Both Paypal and my hosting account say the issue is with Zencart. THose of you who have fixed your problem, is there something you recommend I try?? I have been trying to get this fixed for months and am having no luck. PLEASE HELP!!

I gave up, and switched to PayPal Express, it took 5 minutes to switch; I do not see any downside to it. All the orders are registering OK. I had one customer who thought that it was only one way to pay, as the Express Button is much more prominent than the regular checkout button :-)

Am haveing the same problem as well. However, the Paypal push add-on does not seem to work with my version of ZC (1.2.4). Will Paypal Express work with this version? Is there a FAQ to assist with setting up Paypal Express?

Express Checkout was added in v1.3.7. To use it, you'll need to upgrade to at least 1.3.7.1, but would be best to go right to 1.3.8a which is newest as of today.
v1.2.4 was released almost 5 years ago, and there have been 12+ new versions since then. There will be a LOT of new utilities and settings and addons and suggestions etc that don't work on your old version.

Thanks Dr Byte. I know our site is due for any upgrade, which we will do shortly, but in the mean time I cannot undertand why the IPN would stop working when we haven't changed our code in over 2 years.
Is this a common problem with Paypal?
Besides upgrading our site, is there any way I can work out why this is happening?
