Switching servers.. db name problem
So I switched or am trying to switch from yahoo servers to google and when I export and run the script I run into this problem"
SQL query:
--
-- Database: `mysql`
--
CREATE DATABASE `mysql` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci;
MySQL said:
#1044 - Access denied for user 'ersio@'%' to database 'mysql'
How Do I get around this? I understnad it's because I don't have the db name "mysql" but is there a way to get it to that?

Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
First you create a database.
Then you create a database user.
Finally, you allow the database user access to the database.
All the above should be doable within your Hosting Control Panel. If not or you have problems then contacting your Hoster is the fastest and best way to resolve any problems.

Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
To my understanding, each db name had to be unique for google...
So when I did yahoo, I named the db mysql and it has all my setup files etc on them...
so i don't know how to transfer over correctly if the db name isnt the same

Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
Now I'm getting this
You attempted to load file with unsupported compression (application/zip). Either support for it is not implemented or disabled by your configuration.

Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
On a side note, I'm swtiching from yahoo to godaddy servers
and well my db names are store and mysql and I can't have those on godaddy so I'm not sure if thats the problem?

You're going from BAD (yahoo) to WORSE (godaddy).
GoDaddy is a completely inappropriate host for eCommerce...
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
What would be a good hosting site? I'm just trying to get to a more stable server that is easy to navigate for me...
I left yahoo because you cant use .htaccess
I'm very uneducated in this... my business is making food lol

Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
I'll get into that, but right now, I need to get my godaddy hosting up...
to much downtime

Follow the article to the letter (slowly and step by step) and you will have no problems is my guess

Don't save the back up file as a zip file. Save it as xxxxxxxx.sql
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
Evidently GoDaddy doesn't like it when you upload zipped files. So, don't.

I'm soooooooooooooooo trying hard not to swear here as I'm currently transferring three Zen Carts FROM GoDaddy for somebody.
Evidently GoDaddy don't like ######## that their customers do from what I have seen!!!!!!!!
Oh, one more thing to the OP, before he/she wastes his/her time in doing this, most likely your email address won't work and most likely email confirmations of new users, confirmation of orders etc etc won't get sent.
I did find a work around for one site, but it didn't work for all
I'd spend your time finding new hosting and have a couple of days break. Send me a PM and I can recommend who I use, or there's one link above from Dr Byte to Zen Cart hosted stuff. Damm, I'm even tempted to offer to install it all for you but I don't know if that's allowed practice on here :lamo:

Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
long story short..
bluehost is easier to navigate then godaddy
I went ahead with bluehost, I have godaddy pointing to bluehost right now, and I have to wait 60 days for domain transfer :(

60 days??????
Bo11ocks!!!!!
Do you have all your log in details for registrar etc etc? ie where you bought the domain?
If you have all that, give me the FTP details, control panel etc I'll effing transfer this myself to my server and give you hosting for a while til you get it sorted.
I don't give a hoot if I don't know you, this is ridiculous and I hate seeing these morons take advantage of people like you!!!!!!!!!

Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
I got the hosting set up, I have set up the mysql in bluehost and have transfered all the files yet i'm stuck here and have no idea while...

where do I check this?
I know about 3 hours ago I changed name servers on godaddy from theres("parked") to the servers names that bluehost told me to type in
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
http://whois.domaintools.com/zen-cart.com
just replace the zencart name with your domain to check.
You really should have a control panel where you can check this though
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.BLUEHOST.COM
NS2.BLUEHOST.COM
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
So far so good, if you can FTP into your new host, edit the index.html file or create one, something personal so you know that image has gone, it's doesn't need to say anything other than Jon woz ere... just so you know you now have ftp control. Though for full control if it you might still have to wait 24 hours and find it goes offline
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
I know the ftp, I've loaded all my ftp files from my old server over, I just have no idea while that booger is showing!
It's really getting frustrating, this switch over, I just want the stuff up and running, I have already gotten some emails from customers.
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
It's called domain propogation. Just be happy it doesn't have GoDaddy written on it ;)
It's looking fine, just give it ime. Technically it could be up to 72 hours. Maybe you misheard when I think back, they might have said 60 hours
If they have their moniker on it already I'd say you were good to get going and get some index file in there to test it
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
I'm positive its an error on my hand.
I followed all the steps correctly on taking my mysql db exported and then imported into the new db hoster.
I also used fillzilla to take all my files to desktop and then reloaded them all to new ftp.
I don't want to reinstall cause I will loss all my customer data and everything I had tweaked in programming
I know in the top left of my php admin that the db name is not the same
It used to be store
with bluehost it's now
ersio_store
Is th is the problem?

Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
Um ... what folder did you upload everything INTO?
Your website will only show files which exist under the public_html folder.

I called tech support on that in the beginning, but I actually did upload them in the wrong place, then as I was on the phone, she worked it out with me and even stated that she could see files being uploaded to the public

Sinjce I can't edit, that was meant as before hand and I still have this problem with the website showing the previous image.

Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
On yahoo hosting, there is no public_html. Everything is already *in* yahoo's public_html section.
On common cPanel-configured hosting (such as Bluehost), you have a home directory, in which you also have a public_html folder (and a www alias which points to public_html).
Inside your public_html folder you'll find all the files that can be accessed via a browser when visiting your site.
When your account was set up, it probably already contained an index.html file, and/or several others. If you didn't delete those before uploading your own files, then it's very possible that those are taking precedence (ie: the index.html is loading before the index.php gets a chance to be found). In that case, delete the index.html file.
If that doesn't solve it, you'll need to contact their tech support again to figure out what exactly you're doing wrong.

Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
What's the domain? Let's see if it's working first, yes?

What am I looking for in all of these files that has changed??
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
Am I looking to change these items only??
define('DB_SERVER_USERNAME', '*********');
define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', '***********');
define('DB_DATABASE', 'store');
Cause I know now and stated before my db name is shown as like
kentucm9_store

Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
You also need to set the proper paths in your configure.php files.
Or, if you follow the FAQ on moving between servers, then the correct configure.php file contents will be automatically built for you.

or on the link, as long as I have all backups made, I can do a fresh install on the new serv, basically overwrite all files except whats noted and then I load up my db tables from my old site to where I will have the site running again, but with all old info there, including customers etc.
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
What's this site going to sell when it's all set up? Custom Zen Cart sites?
Only kidding.... stick with it, I think you're getting there. You can only learn by trying.., failing.., studying.... trying again... oh try a reinstall again at 3am..... and lo and behold you get an email from your support ticket to yout hosts and they admit, "WE'RE NOT CLEVER" :D
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
The FAQ is very clear. There's no point in me re-typing it all here again.
-
Re: Switching servers.. db name problem
ok I did everything on there, including the catch fix key, and now my index page is blank. but I can log into admin just fine and see all my old information
