Default PayPal Express Checkout problem (10002) can't complete transaction
PayPal Express Checkout problem (10002) can't complete transaction
Installed and populated the PayPal Express Checkout module with verified business account info - copy and pasted from the PayPal web site:
- API Username
- API Password
- API Signature
- Selected live (not sandbox)
Set configurations / My Store / cURL Proxy Status to FALSE (PayPal confirmed choice as well as the host, MacHighway).
PayPal reviewed and says the Zen Cart info is not being passed to theie servers. What could be the problem? Did I forget to check or un-check something somewhere? Any thoughts?

I also read and followed the instructions found on:
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=15
BTW... the LinkPoint credit card module is currently up and running on the same site.

Re: Get error message when using Paypal express.
Your duplicate identical post has been merged with this one. No need to re-post the same thing all over the forum, as that just creates clutter, and unfinished discussions without resolutions.
Re: Default PayPal Express Checkout problem (10002) can't complete transaction
Thanks. I'll be mindful of that.
Tried checking and un-checking some things and testing but still no positive results. Read all I could find on the subject. Since in the past I've un-checked the wrong thing I thought that might again be the source but I don't know.
What kind of file or function needs to be activated for PayPal to complete a transaction? That might help me look in the right place.
Happy for any direction.
Re: Default PayPal Express Checkout problem (10002) can't complete transaction
10002 is an authentication error. PayPal's documentation says: "This error can be caused by an incorrect API username, an incorrect API password, or an invalid API signature. Make sure that all three of these values are correct. For your security, PayPal does not report exactly which of these three values might be in error."
The correct way to set it up is discussed here: www.zen-cart.com/getpaypal
It's really as simple as entering the correct API user/pwd/sig ... that's all I do everytime I set up a new site.
Re: Default PayPal Express Checkout problem (10002) can't complete transaction
Checked all the API info entered and it was perfect. The module was filled out perfectly.
I went into the PayPal business account to check everything again and there's where I found the error. The checkbox to enable IPN was checked but I noticed the specified URL was somehow missing both the underscores. So I re-copied and inserted the URL from the Zen module into the PayPal field, took it for a spin and it worked!
Thanks again.
BTW... I was surprised to see how dominant the PayPal graphics were (in size and color) compared to the Zen "go to checkout" button for LinkPoint and all the other credit cards. Also I anticipate some customer confusion with the text headline "New Customers". It should really say "New PayPal Customers" and it should be positioned below "Create A Customer Profile".
Is there any way I can flip that positioning?
I know I ask a lot.
Re: Default PayPal Express Checkout problem (10002) can't complete transaction
But, it's not referring specifically to "New PayPal Customers". It is very correct in addressing it as "New Customers".
It does not require customers to have or create a Paypal account in order to complete checkout.
Re: Default PayPal Express Checkout problem (10002) can't complete transaction
True. However a new customer sees the Pay Pal first and may not read further to see that they have options. Most people don't read further then the first "eye stop".
So would still want the PayPal position swapped to below the "Create A Customer Profile". Reason is that on my site PayPay is only one of many options to use a credit card. Pay Pal is not the first or main or featured method of payment. In that case (if swapped) then the headline "New Customer" could remain the same.
Is there a way to swap the positions?
Re: Default PayPal Express Checkout problem (10002) can't complete transaction
You're free to change your site layout and graphics as you feel is required for your particular customers' capabilities and shopping patterns. Simply adjust your templates and graphics according to your unique needs. Remember to consult the terms and conditions of your agreement with PayPal before removing anything related to PayPal from any of your pages.

Re: Default PayPal Express Checkout problem (10002) can't complete transaction
FYI... it happened as predicted. A customer wrote " Why don't you take major credit cards? I don't want to use PayPal."
Of course we did and do accept all major credit cards. But the layout and graphics cloaked that information.
The customers experience at the "Welcome, Please Sign In" page (store/index.php?main_page=login) was confusing because of the dominate PayPal graphics and because PayPal was in the first / top position. The customer glanced at the page, did not read it and his glance registered PayPal as the only option. Many customers repeated that experience.
So I made text changes (because that was the easiest way - not the best way). Changed text on two pages:
"Welcome, Please Sign In" (page 1) (store/index.php?main_page=login)
and
"Your Shopping Cart Contents" (page 2) (store/index.php?main_page=shopping_cart&disp_order=1)
The new text add on for page 1 says,"We accept ALL MAJOR CREDIT CARDS Master Card, Visa, Discover, American Express and Diners Club. To pay using your credit card press the “go to checkout” tab below. Then on the next page press the “sign up” tab for a quick easy, and secure checkout."
AND on page 2 the new text reads"We accept ALL MAJOR CREDIT CARDS Master Card, Visa, Discover, American Express and Diners Club. To pay using your credit card press the “sign up” tab below.
Have not had a confused email since he changes.
