Aberdeen Neutral Template Support Thread

Hello everyone :smile: I am happy to announce the release of my fourth free template to the zen cart community.

The Aberdeen Neutral template is a super flexible design perfect for all types of ecommerce stores--the possibities endless!

This may be exactly what I'm looking for. I have a few questions:

1. Can this rotational images be left at one image?
2. Can the navigation bars be square corners rather than rounded ones?
3. Can categories be present under the main graphic rather that featured products?
4. Can sideboxes be modified to have square corners?
5. Is it possible to extend the horizontal navigation bar to the full width of the screen?

It's really nice.

A couple of problems I ran into.

1. The right hand side has a striking blue background. How do I remove that?

2. I am using IH2 and the additional images are not showing up.

3. Unsubscribed is not in alignment.

Woohee...more issues.

I replaced the slide images and now I am getting all the text and no images.

Just curious...did you test it with IH2?

Also, it does not line up with the $ with the product.

The template is designed to be a 2 column layout with let hand navigation. If you want to use the right hand column you need to add the styles for it in the stylesheet.

This is not a problem with the template. The template uses the default tpl_product_info_display.php with only a horizontal rule added above the bottom buttons.

All the text is written out on the slide. Not sure how that happened.

The problem with the slideshow is not the template. It is caused by a bug in version g. See this thread and apply the patch:

The template is designed so that the monthly boxes will look best with 3 items per row. If you want only 2 per row you can adjust the css.

I checked product number 1 and the additional images are showing fine in just the right spot.

So far I have been able to fix everything...and YES that patch did the trick..

BUT the price is still not aligned under the image. I added 3 test products.

The template is designed to have the price floating left and the details button floating right. If you want some other alignment you have to change the stylesheet.css.

If you read the install.txt file you will see that the column layout grid is already installed. You just need to run the sql patch included in the template install.txt file.

Those are the header ezpages. I have designed the template to look best when these are turned off :smile:

Also, I turned off buy now button in admin and it's still showing up..

Anne, sorry to bother you again but when you add additional images...the 3rd image is resting on the add to cart button in FF only. It seems to be ok in chrome & IE.

Actually, that is the original php file that came with 1.39g. And just to make sure I just replaced it and it still is doing the same thing.

I am seeing a definite difference between the code on your product page and the default zen cart code. Delete the tpl_product_info.php file and see what happens. (This will revert back to the tpl_product_info.php file in the template_default directory).

Did that too...and still the same problem. I only have IH2 and your template. I really did not adjust any code.

If you have removed the template override file for the tpl_product_info.php and you still have the problem, then the problem is not with the template :smile:

Installed three times and still the same problem....not sure what it is....but it's not IH2...

PinkLeopard--It is not a problem inherent with the template. No one else has reported this problem.

First of all, I really appreciate your template...:clap:

BUT, I have a fresh download...installed your template & IH2...all 1.39...and I get this problem.

Seriously, I have never had this problem before.

I have checked everything over & over again...

I guess I will just have to use another template because I cannot pin point the problem either.

I'm having the same problems others have addressed below and it seems it's still haven't been resolved. To make things more clear I'm attaching a print screen copy of what we're talking about. Oh, by the way as soon as we can get these resolved I definite would be using it. love it

Let me know if you can pull up the picture. Not sure if I've done it correctly. First time using this system.

Sorry to say but there is a lot of problems with this template. The layout & css for one. :oops:

Try looking at it in firefox and how the image overlaps the add to cart button. :unsure:

It should really be fixed.

You are incorrect. The layout and css are both good. The template has been cross browser tested in Firefox, ie6, ie7, ie8, chrome, and safari. The template uses the default product info page layout with the addition of a horizontal rule above the reviews and tell a friend buttons. This default layout has been tested by literally millions of zen cart users worldwide and proven to work in all browsers, operating systems, etc. If you have a problem with this page PinkLeopard, then it is unique and caused by something you have done to the css or code.

It is true that this template is designed to be a 2 column layout. I may update the template package at some point if there is a demand for a 3 column layout. In the meantime, if you want to use the template as a 3 column layout then you will have to add the styles for the right hand column into the stylesheet. This is the beauty of my GPL licensed template. You can modify it any way you like to fit your needs :smile:

authentic01--To get the newsletter unsubscribe on one line you should use the recommended admin settings for the left hand column width and left hand boxes width.

also, I turned off all the right columns and still am having the same problem. Where is the file so I can take a look to see where the problem lies?

yes, that is true it's the same no matter what browser you're in. I believe the problem is when you downloaded the template and went back into admin/tools/layout there was a warning message at the top in order to clear you had to reset. This is what i've done so not sure if i didn't would i still have the same issues. But it wasn't stated don't. Well until the problem is fixed (even though I love the look of the template) I'll go back to the other one I'd got for free. What can you say it's free!! But nice job! I couldn't do it and I'm not technical to understand half of what i'm looking at anyway.

How do I change the color scheme?
I want all the red to be dark purple and the grey to be pink?
also,
how would I change the background if possible?

I installed this template on my teststore at: q065sb.at/shop ... and am pretty impressed by the fabulous design. One thing nonetheless striked me - IE and FireBUG record an error in saying:

jQuery is not defined
})(jQuery);

It is the very last line in jscript_easySlider.js which is responsible for the proper display of the sliding image on the homescreen.

Despite this error, the sliding effect is however working nicely with no obvious bug. So I am wondering what is happening there. I would like to get rid of this message before implementing this template in my liveshop.

This is a very nice template and deserves to be perfect. I would like to point out and fix one problem I have found. In the header the shopping cart item count and money totals in the cart are coded wrong in the (includes/templates/aberdeen_neutral/common/tpl_header.php )file, find line 101 and between <li></li> replace with the following, the missing code is in red,

Is there a way to make the 'categories' sidebox larger without affecting the design of the sidebox, I have tried chaging the size of the padding, margin etc in the stylesheet but can't get it right.

The sidebox top and bottom are done with images (sidebox-top.jpd and sidebox-bottom.jpg), so if you want to make the sidebox wider you can make these 2 image wider in your favorite image manipulation program and then upload them to:

includes/templates/aberdeen_neutral/images

You will also have to adjust the width of the Column Width - Left Boxes and Column Width - Left in the admin--configuration--layout settings.

Just have a general question. I am using this great Template, however would like to redesign the Category sidebox (the other sideboxes can remain the same).
I downloaded the Category Dressing add-on however it didn't make any difference i.e. the sidebox-top & sidebox-bottom images still exist etc.

I would greatly appreciate if someone can tell me the best way to get a new category sidebox installed on this template, what files are affected etc?

You don't need a new category sidebox. You will need to edit the stylesheet that comes with the module to override the styles in the includes/templates/aberdeen_neutral/css/stylesheet.css for the sideboxes.

Please, please, please read the install.txt file. If you do you will see that both this template and the All Business template are designed to be a 2 column layout using the left hand column and main content area. If you want to use the right hand column you will have to copy the styles from the left hand column to the right hand column and adjust the width of the home page slideshow.

4. The random boxes at the right side took so much space. What is your comment, do you think I can just get rid of the right boxes. How to get rid of the bkue line on the right side?

The answers to all of your questions are in the install.txt file. Please read this file before posting to the support thread.

This template is designed as a two column layout. If you want to use the right hand column then you will have to add the styles for it in the style sheet and adjust the width of the slide show. You can find all of the default template settings that will make your site look like the demo in the install.txt file.

I have repeated... and re-repeated the instructions I can't at all see more then the one thumbnail image and the large image it clicks out too.
I even tried to use the demo images included in tutorial instructions... a bugs life or whatever and it still doesn't show more then the one image

If I turn off the left or right side search boxes the header search box remains but is completely gray (without any search box or search wording). How can I remove that grey box. The template is designed to use the header search. If you do not want to use it you can edit the background image top-menu-bk1.jpg.

Remove text-transform:lowercase; from the #tagline in the stylesheet.

Thanks for the tips - I don't mind the search area where you placed it - but the only I know to display in the box is by turning on sideboxes/search_header.php which adds the search box in the grey area and also adds it to either the left or right columns. Any suggestions?

You need to only specify to turn on the search_header. php box in the header and turn it off for the right and left hand columns.

Hi there - I'm having great fun customizing the form to my needs - the last thing I will turn on are the rotating graphics.

I do have a question about the number of footer items that can display under the colums. Can you let me know which files I need to modify to add in more items - seems as though now there can only be 5 items. I am trying to add an item under Cusomter Service right now - I've added in the define for Returns but it doesn't display. I'm assume there is a setting some place that you need to adjust the number of items.

Hi Anne,

I added my 'Returns' (from the returns authorization module) item to that file under Customer Service and it does not show up. However, if I turn on the Information Box (left side) it shows up there and works just fine.

I've attached the footer_menu_defines.php (renamed with .doc to upload). Can you tell me what I'm missing?

I was wondering if you got my last reply regarding the footer area - I had modified the file that you suggested before emailing you about the problem and still no additions to the footer. If you do not see the link then you have a syntax error.

Can you PLEASE look at my code to add a footer item in your code. Is it in the correct format?? It appears that even though I add the 6th item it does not display in the footer. The page displays correctly otherwise. I dont' know how else to explain that I just want you to tell me do I have the newly added item in the correct format so your template will display it. I am able to add it to the information left side box no problem and the link works perfectly.

How else can I explain this to you more clearly? I appreciate any help.

jfreeman--I don't want to sound like a broken record, but I did not write the code for the Footer Menu module. My best advice would be to post to the support thread for that module for help.
My guess is that you can find your answer if you read that support thread since it seems like adding links would be something that lots of people would like to do. The module author is intimate with the code and should be able to help you trouble shoot. Your trouble is not with the template, it is with the footer menu module.

This is not a template problem--it is the way that zen cart natively handles this button. I would recommend doing a search on the forum to see if anyone has posted instructions for fixing this.

The module that creates this menu is the Footer Menu module. If you don't want to use this module with the template, I would recommend downloading it from the "free softwear add-ons" section and removing all of the files it uses in your template installation.

Can you be more specific as to which images on which page? Are you talking about the product images on the shopping cart page?
