One of the problems with USPS and UPS is obtaining quotes for US Islands and Territories regardless of how the Customer sets up their Shipping address.

For Example, a Customer may setup Shipping for Guam as
Country: United States
State: Guam
City: Yigo
Zip Code: 96929

Or, set it up as:
Country: Guam
State: Yigo
City: Yigo
Zip Code: 96929

This will cause issues where only one or the other shipping module will work.

Another issue is that the 5 digits allowed by USPS changes based on National and Internation shipping and forces some shops to edit the USPS shipping module to manually change the code to address this issue. This is now built into the Beta version.

Now, these two modules also allow for separate Handling Fees for National and International Orders, again these are based on the translation of Countries and States that conflict on shipping that is part of the United States.

It would be helpful if some of the more adventurous members of our forum tested these two modules and tried to break them.

Please test these modules and report your results and if you have any issues with them as a guest or customer on your sites.

Of particular interest is testing for shipping to:
Guam
Puerto Rico
Northern Mariana Islands
Virgin Islands US
American Samoa
Micronesia, Federated States of
Federated States of Micronesia
Palau

as either the Country or as the State when the Country is the United States.

Any other issues would also be appreciated.

Newbie here... see this post is dated last March. Is the mod still in beta testing? Update? Based on my questions just posted to this sub-forum today, looks like it could solve a couple of my problems.

I would start with the current UPS that comes with v1.3.9h and get the current USPS January 2, 2011 C version from post #26:

Make sure that those are working before you try using a beta version ...

This qustion is not about the beta. I need to know how to set the shipping price sort order to show the lowest price first.

I thought I'ed ask Ajeh becase this user knows everything about zen-cart.

To sort by price from low to hig, in the usps.php shipping module, find the line:

Is this different from the modded USPS module in the add-ons section? That one has an option now to sort rates by price

This is not the same as Marcos USPS Ratev4 ...

His has an option for the Sort Order of the display by Unsorted, Alpha or by Price ...

and now we are in the new year and USPS international rates are not working again. How are we to get a working USPS module? Will anyone on the zen cart team fool with this since it's no longer a part of the default install in 1.5?

The UPS and USPS for v1.5 are in the Free Software Add Ons ...

Both are simple modules to install ...

I assume those will be fine with 1.3.9h and also assume you haven't seen any other complaints about international USPS yet this year? It doesn't seem to be working right now.

Those work with v1.5 ... this is why they are labeled as v1.5 ...

NOTE: They should work with v1.3.9h as well ...

Are you using a current version of USPS and UPS? What are you using that you are having issues with International?

international isn't being served up as an option - I did have to change that number in the mod to get it to work in the first place that we found was necessary last year.

If you go to the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... and in the bottom input box enter:
USPS GXG

and select Catalog ... and click Search ...

What are your settings in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

nothing that looks out of the ordinary - Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight 5:.5, Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight 5:1, estimator turned on in cart and the rest look to be the default settings. We don't know when it stopped working - just got a complaint today.

No, sorry for the confusion! This is a 1.3.9h cart - USPS stopped working for international shipments. I am trying to find out if this is due to a change in the USPS api. No changes to the cart and was working before. That was the reason for my questions here. If the api does change, will you post the new USPS for 1.5 and will it therefore work for 1.3.9h?

Changing the USPS to a mod instead of a part of zen cart has got my customers scared they are going to be left out in the cold. I need to know what to do when problems arise. As they just did.

Am I to assume the mod for 1.5 is substantially different from the core 1.3.9h mod? Should I switch to that?

I installed the 1.5 version and we are still getting the same message that Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time.

That meant before that we needed to make a change in the USPS mod to make it work. "If using Tare Rates on some settings, for International to work you will need to edit the usps.php file and change the rounding from 3 to 2 ...". That made it work for this website before and now it's not working any longer. Does that change need to be made for the 1.5 module as well?

Could you please give the URL to a Product that results in this problem?

I have not been able to reproduce this issue with the USPS January 2, 2011 not the USPS v1.5 ...

NOTE: make sure you went to the Modules ... Shipping ...

and clicked on USPS and followed the steps for:

1 Save all settings to NotePad

2 Clicked REMOVE

3 Click INSTALL

4 re-configured the USPS shipping module ...


Also, do you have any Zones set on the USPS shipping module?

yes, USPS is only being used for international shipments. US & Canada flat rate only.

Crap -- just realized. The shipping estimator is returning rates. It's only after logging in that this happens.

The only other difference is that this website was moved to a new highly upgraded server set up by Quinton. That was early in December and we don't know when this stopped working.

Can you check your Zone Definitions and find the Zone Definition that you have set on your USPS Shipping Module and go to the DETAILS and tell me what you have set up on there?

The whole thing? It's simply a list of the countries (239) she ships to. I've been using Australia to check. She's been using Greece to check.

If you have all of the Countries for shipping ... why are you even using a Zone on the shipping module?

On the USPS shipping module ... are you using all methods of shipping?

Pardon me for jumping in here. While all international shipments are not getting a rate quote once you are logged in, here is one example of one that doesn't work:

I had to remake all my addresses on your site ...

What do you mean remake?

All Countries were missing ...

Canada now Works ...

United Kingdom now Works ...

My United States address is the only one that is not working with USPS ...

So now I see that when I go to edit an address, it shows up the country in the state box and no country at all. I checked the database and there are quite a few (if not all) international addresses that are missing the entry_zone_id.

So that's why the problems are showing up - though I can't think what could have happened to create this problem. All the american addresses have the correct entry_zone_id. Yikes.

Can you check your Locations / Taxes ... Countries ... and see:

1 how many countries do you have?

2 scroll until you see the United States ... do you just have 1 of them?

238 countries and one US

non us zone had 239 - found 2 entries for all countries! So deleted them.

So somewhere along the line this stuff got screwed up big time.

Anything else I should check?

I did do an experiment and deleted the zone id out of one of my existing addresses but it didn't create any problems like the others. So that may be a symptom of the problem - but not where the solution lies.

What did you delete the Countries or the Zones for the Countries?

Just the 2 all countries as zones.

We're sure now that the countries have the incorrect country codes in the database entries for the address book. I'm beginning to think when and how this might have happened. So I'm going to download the addresses and fix - argh..... (yes with a backup done first!)

Next, do a REMOVE on on each of the UPS and USPS shipping modules ...

From the new files, they both use the same structure as the Zen Cart directories and you can load the:

to the server ...

Go to Modules ... Shipping ... and do the INSTALL and then configure them ...

The download section says the new usps shipping module is for zen cart v1.5.0. Is there any reason it will not work on zen cart 1.3.9 versions?

The download for USPS for January 22, 2012 will work on v1.3.9h as well ...
