About the module

Use Static URIs to make web addresses Easier to Remember and Easier to Enter.
Improve the store's Rankings in Search Engines!

The Ceon URI Mapping module is a very handy module that no Zen Cart site should be without!

Unlike other SEO modules, where the URIs are generated automatically when a customer visits a page, this module allows specific URIs to be entered within the admin, or even for auto-generation to be used to create a static URI for an individual category/product/manufacturer/EZ-Page/Zen Cart page.

We believe this to be a much better solution as the store is in control of its URIs.

It lets the store specify static, human-readable, keyword-based URIs to be used instead of the dynamic, ID-based URIs which Zen Cart uses as standard.
For example, for a product, instead of dynamic URIs like this:

http://yourstore.com/index.php?main_...&products_id=5

A static address - easy to read, easy to type in and full of keywords - could be specified for the product:

http://yourstore.com/books/life-is-good

It's simple to promote sections of the site on advertising literature.

For example, the following static URI could be mapped to the specials page:

http://yourstore.com/EasterSpecials

Features

Historical URI Mapping - No More Broken Links!

• Each Category/Product/Manufacturer/EZ-Page/Zen Cart Page (subject) with URI mapping(s) has a single “Current” URI.
• Any number of URIs can map to the same subject. However, when a customer uses a URI which is not the “current” URI they are quickly and automatically redirected to the “current” URI. This occurs before the site begins to display, so is completely transparent.
• “Deleted”/“Previous” URI mappings still point towards their original subject, by redirecting the user to the “Current” URI for the subject (unless they have become overridden by a current or newer URI mapping which uses the same URI of course!).

Canonical URIs

• Any page with a static URI automatically has a canonical URI tag added to the page's header. This minimises “duplicate content” reports as it tells the search engines that multiple “pages” should be treated as one.
• For example, instead of the search engine thinking that /all-products?disp_order=1 is a different page from /all-products?disp_order=3, Ceon URI Mapping lets it know that the page's “real” URI is just /all-products and that these other URIs are just variations for the same page.

Easy-to-use Admin Integration for Categories, Products, Manufacturers and EZ-Pages

• Specifying custom URI mappings for Categories, Products, Manufacturers and EZ-Pages is quick and easy.. just browse to the appropriate Category/Product/Manufacturer/EZ-Page in the admin and enter the URI to be used in the text fields added by the module, or tick the “auto-generate” check box, if auto-generation is enabled!
• Change existing Category/Product/Manufacturer/EZ-Page URI mappings in the same easy manner!

URI Mapping Auto-generation

• The module comes with very powerful, flexible and easy-to-use URI mapping auto-generation functionality.
• If auto-generation is used to create a URI mapping for a Category, Product, Manufacturer or EZ-Page it automatically capitalises the Category/Product/Manufacturer Name or EZ-Page Title according to the store's preferred settings, replaces any whitespace with a preferred character, removes selected words and replaces particular characters/strings as specified in the configuration utility.
• Please Note: This module does not automatically add mappings for existing Categories/Products/Manufacturers/EZ-Pages - if the site has existing Categories/Products/Manufacturers/EZ-Pages, they'll continue to use the standard Zen Cart dynamic URIs, until a URI has been entered or auto-generated for them, by editing the respective Category/Product/Manufacturer/EZ-Page in the admin.
• 
  This means going in and editing every Category/Product/Manufacturer/EZ-Page for which a static URI mapping is desired.

Full Multi-language Support - including Transliteration and UTF-8!

• The module is fully multilingual - every page can have a URI mapping for each language supported by the store!
• The module automatically causes Zen Cart to use the language the URI uses, greatly enhancing Zen Cart's language functionality!
• This multi-language functionality makes it likely that the site will feature much higher in search engine listings specific to the various languages the store supports.
• The module also has full support for transliteration! When using the URI mapping auto-generation functionality it transliterates the names/titles from any language into plain ASCII, the format used by URIs.
• Transliteration support means that characters outside of the standard character set allowed in URIs won't just be stripped from the URI, leaving words with letters missing. For example, “á” is replaced with “a”, “ß” is replaced with “ss” etc.
• The transliteration support extends to supporting the UTF-8 character set, so Japanese, Chinese characters etc. are all handled easily!

Organise EZ-Pages into Site Sections

• By putting a bit of thought into the format of URI mappings for EZ-Pages, it is possible to organise them into logical sections.
• EZ-Pages no longer have to appear as being “root” pages of the site!
• For example, a “Company” section could be created with 4 EZ-Pages using URI mappings such as the following:
  /company
  /company/about-us
  /company/about-us/endorsements
  /company/how-to-find-us

Ability to use Static URIs for any Zen Cart page

• There are two methods for using static URIs for any Zen Cart page, both of which have full support for having a “current” URI, as many historical/“old” URIs as necessary and are fully multi-lingual:
  
  1. Static URIs can be used for any Zen Cart page by directly entering the static URI for the page and the type of the page in the database table for the module.
     
     • Using this method to specify static URIs for a Zen Cart page will cause every link to that page to use the static URI instead of the dynamic Zen Cart URI.
     • For example, to create a static URI for “index.php?main_page=specials”:
       uri: /latest-offers
       main_page: specials
     
     
  2. Static URIs being used for Zen Cart pages can also allow data to be supplied to Zen Cart.
     
     • This is achieved by initialising the GET variables for the Zen Cart page when it is loaded, which are set up by directly entering the static URI for the page, the type of the page and the GET variables to be loaded in the database table for the module.
     • For example:
       
       uri: /surveys/shipping
     • Could map to a custom survey page, with the necessary ID for the survey to be shown:
       
       main_page: survey
       
       query_string_parameters: survey_id=2
     • Please Note: These URIs will only be used as the static URIs for links if the query string parameters being used to generate the link are exactly the same as the value of the “query_string_parameters” field (with the exception that the session parameter, if any, is ignored).
     
     
  
  
• Please note: There is no admin interface for entering these URI mappings in this module, they have to be entered manually (using software such as PHPMyAdmin).

Automatic Usage of any URI mappings Defined for Categories, Products, Manufacturers, EZ-Pages or any other Zen Cart page!

• The module modifies the main zen_href_link function slightly to make automatic use of any URI mappings defined for a category, product, manufacturer, EZ-Page or other Zen Cart page.
• Having each page link to each other using their static URIs makes the site easier to navigate and increases the usage of keywords on the site, further helping SEO!

Ability to use Static URIs as an Alias for any other Static URI

• The module can be used to redirect from one static URI to an alternative URI (even to an external URI).
• The exact type of redirection (temporary/permanent etc.) can even be controlled, by specifying the HTTP Status Code to be used for the redirection to the alternative URI.
• Creating aliases allows the store to handle visits to broken/old links.
• It also allows the store to increase the number of keywords being used to link to a page on the site through the creation of an alternative link/alias.
• Please note: There is no admin interface for entering these URI mappings in this module, they have to be entered manually (using software such as PHPMyAdmin).

Automated support for standard Zen Cart pages related to a Product

• The Reviews and Tell-A-Friend sections can automatically be made “subsections” of the product's main info page, by appending some specific URI parts to the product info page's static URI.
• This saves effort setting up URIs for these pages specifically for each product, as it creates static URIs such as:
  /books/life-is-good/reviews
  /books/life-is-good/tell-a-friend
• [New for 4.0.0] A section in the module's Config Utility allows the store to select which “Product Page URIs” are automatically managed by the software, and to set the text that should be used for the URIs.

100% Compatibility with Zen Cart and Most Modules, Minimal Tweaks Required for Some Other Modules

• Installing the module won't break any of the functionality of Zen Cart.
• The module works using Zen Cart's Initsystem so it doesn't interfere with any of its workings. Zen Cart pages have no idea the module is even running, the run-time environment appears exactly as if the module wasn't installed.
• This means that the module should work perfectly with most (and most likely all) other Zen Cart modules - as long as they don't use relative links/paths. Those modules which do use relative links/paths simply need to have their relative links/paths changed to static links/paths, something which is easily done by adding a single define to the start of the links/paths.
• [New for 4.0.0] The software does its best to work out if it is being called by a third party script instead of directly from Zen Cart and will prevent itself from interfering with the running of the third party script!

Transparently Handles URIs With or Without a Slash (/) at the End

• The module sees URIs with a slash at the end as identical to those without one. For example, the following are equivalent:
  
  http://yourstore.com/books/life-is-good
  http://yourstore.com/books/life-is-good/

Respects Context of a Link to a Category/Product page

• The module retains Zen Cart's category history when linking to a subcategory of another category or a linked product which is not within its “master” category, so the full path back through any parent categories is available. (Without this feature all categories being mapped to by a URI mapping would appear as if their only parent category was the root of the store and linked products would always show as belonging to their “master” category, which is not necessarily the category the customer has accessed the product from).

Avoids Possibility of Duplicate URIs

• [New for 4.0.0] The software won't allow a duplicate URI mapping to be created. It can be configured to warn the user when an attempt is being made to create a URI mapping which would clash with one already being used elsewhere.
• For product URIs, the software can even be configured to automatically append a number to a URI when a clash is detected, to make the URI unique without the user having to manually change anything themselves!

Support for all of Zen Cart's Standard Product Types (and more)!

• The module has full support for the standard 5 product types in Zen Cart plus the product_book type (version 4 from the Zen Cart download area).

Easy to Install and Keep Up To Date!

• [New for 4.0.0] The module has an “Installation Check” section in its config utility which analyses the store's configuration, identifies any problems and tells you what they are and how to fix them!
• [New for 4.0.0] Once the module has been installed initially, upgrading to a new version takes aroud 10 seconds. The files for the new version simply have to be copied across, then the software will take over and carry out any necessary updates itself!

Compatible with the Most Popular Webservers

A webserver that supports rewrite rules is required. Currently tested/supported webservers are:

Hello Conor,
running 1.3.9h and upgrading from 3.8 to 4.0... I have followed upgrade instructions, been very careful about merging files etc, rechecked my install ws good....

I got to instruction number 7... to go into the Modules menu in the admin prog... And am getting an SQL error... Here is the error...

[ UPDATE ceon_uri_mappings SET uri = '' WHERE uri = '/' AND language_id = '1' AND current_uri = '1;]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

OK, let me give you an update of my previous post. The SQL command appeared to have a single quote missing from the error (the last chr is a semi-colon, so one chr before that and after the number 1)... , so, I pasted that SQL command into PHPMyAdmin and it ran that command with the extra single quote, which updated 6 rows... And now.. I can actually get into the "Module" "Ceon URI Mapping (SEO) Config" and now see the new pages (4 tabs etc)...

Just an added bit of info for the upgrade. Section 9 of the instructions, the Installation check, it would not work for me until I had gone into "Tools" "Admin Settings" and entered a tick next to the new module "ceon uri mapping installation check"...

Argh, I've tracked this and can see that you've found a bug.. the SQL is missing its closing quote.

This should affect very few people though as it is part of the _stripTrailingSlashesFromMappings() upgrade method.

This method runs whenever your previous set of 3.x mappings have any mappings that end with a slash.

In your case, you'd actually added an incorrect mapping, by manually adding a mapping for '/'.. a mapping was never required for the root of the site in version 3.8.0.

Still, it appears that one test I missed was for sites that had URIs with ending slashes.

I've fixed this and am re-releasing 4.0.0 without any notification about this and without creating a version 4.0.1.

I should really create a 4.0.1 but because only a small number of people have so far downloaded 4.0.0, the time saved in not doing so can help me get some better work done! :)

I'll also make tweak the method so it ignores this "unnecessary" root page mapping you had added.. didn't expect anyone to have added such a mapping! :)

I understand why you needed to do that.. that's the "Admin Profiles" module. To be honest, that's really your responsibility to know how it works when you install it, but I guess it might be worth adding instructions for others who forget when they've got it installed to check its settings. :)

I've fixed that upgrade method and re-released v4.0.0.. the version on the Ceon website has this fix in it.

There's a problem with the Zen Cart downloads area's upload page at the minute so until that's fixed please just use the link at the top of this thread (well, here it is again too).

This new version should run with the old version's .htaccess settings right?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled this mod three times in the last couple of days and my admin runs great but I can't access my site - it keeps giving me a 500 error with a file does not exist error in my cPanel.

I've tried modifying the

RewriteRule .* shop/index.php?%{QUERY_STRING} [QSA,L]

line in several different ways (including the way I had it before I upgraded) and it isn't working. I have also tried deleting the rest of the rewrites that I have set up in my .htaccess file to no avail.

And one other thing (though it's not a huge issue unless you're a total noob) when I ran the installation check, I was told that the line above needed to be

RewriteRule .* shindex.php [QSA,L]

which made me laugh because it just doesn't look right (and yes, I tried that line as well just to make sure). It also added a non-included line next to a rewrite rule

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/shop/ [NC]# Don't rewrite any URIs ending with a file extension (ending with .[xxxxx])

which also gave me an error (but google was kind enough to help me figure out what the problem was).

Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Actually, I have not added any manual database entries into the 3.8.0 table. I have looked at it and see this... I have created 6 x categories in Zen that act as spacers.... ie... I have 20+ categories and on the left menu, I dont want them all together, so after 5 categories, I wanted a space and the way I did it was to create a category with a blank name... Having a cateory with a name with just a since space did nto work, it never made that space I wanted, so, I created the category with <ALT>255 - which is a blank character... There are 6 of these categories just the same... and if you remember my reply earier, the manual entry of the update command updated 6 rows... I manually looked into the tabe and see that is exactly the case... ^ records in the table now have the 'uri' field as blank. Not particularly bothered as there are no products in there, and I will manually do something to fix it..

One thing I will say about that is, I dont know how those 6 blank categories got into your mappings table because I KNOW, that I have never edited those 6 categories to manually get them into the URI database like I did with the 400 or so other categories... So a little confused with that..!!

Sorry - I didn't add the fix to one of the issues in my last post and wanted to document it in case someone else needs it.

If you're getting a bad rewrite request error, make sure all not-included rewrite rules are on their own line. So to fix the problem above, make it look like this:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/shop/ [NC]
# Don't rewrite any URIs ending with a file extension (ending with .[xxxxx])

Getting the same error as kamelion0927.
I can access a product page via a direct link ok but cannot use the home button to get to the normal landing page
"/localhost/catalogue/" it just gives a blank page.
If i put in "/localhost/catalogue/index.php?main_page=index." note the "." it loads.
Don't know much about this sort of stuff but maybe it will help.

I was able to replicate this problem. A "\n" was missing when the store used a subdirectory.

I've fixed this now.. the download archive's files include this fix. Again, not making this an official 4.0.1 update as so few people have this version.

Simply download the archive again and overwrite the files on your site with the files from the "files" folder and the example Rewrite Rule produced in the Installation Check will be the one you should use. I've tested this properly this time, sorry about earlier.

I have never seen anything like that before. Maybe it's the same issue with the missing newline in the example rule.

Please re-download 4.0.0 and overwrite the files on your test site with the files from the "files" folder and that will let you produce the correct rewrite rule to put in your .htaccess file.

lol it's wasn't the SQL I was referring to per say, but the fact that I was outputting the SQL without an end quote in the PHP code.. it was the PHP that was messed up. Anyway... :)

Ceon URI Mapping will have automatically generated a URI whenever you edited these categories in the admin. So although you didn't manually modiofy the Ceon URI Mapping database, these "rogue" mappings still got in. The software simply wasn't built to cope with nameless categories, which is how we found ourselves in the situation that we did. :)

Not a big deal, just delete those mappings manually from your database and stop using "fake categories" for layout! :)

If you want to add a space you should actually just reprogram the categories sidebox so that it modifies the output HTML.

Having a category with no name will break auto-generation of all categories below that level.

So...

Move all your categories back to the parent level, delete the six fake ones and adjust the categories sidebox to preceed the categories' names with &nbsp; after the first five.

Yes, apart from the two minor slipups mentioned above, I'd done extensive testing.. so I suppose its good they were found so quickly as I don't expect anyone else to have any trouble, just like you didn't!

"Uninstall" isn't quite what he meant.. "remove the old 3.8 files" is what he was talking about. You don't remove the old module altogether, you don't actually "uninstall" 3.8.0.

Just follow the "Upgrading" instructions in the 4.0.0 documentation and you'll be fine.

All products that added CEON url mapping the CAPTCHA not showing on both tell a friend and product review. But shows for the products not defined with CEON.

The Captcha module needs to have its code updated.

You can read more in the last part of this FAQ ("Check the module's code..."):

When Ceon URI Mapping is enabled a module on the site doesn't work properly!

There's more info about a particular CAPTCHA program, it could be your one, I don't know, here:

I can see correct path xxx.com/aaa-bbb from mouse touch, but click on the category the actual browser path showing "http://www.xxx.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66&products_id=260"

All other categories are working fine with CEON, except for these two.

That's a product URI.

So you must only have one product in each of those categories and Zen Cart is redirecting to the product page when you click on a category.

If you want a static URI for those pages, you need to generate a static URI for the products.

Whenever you add more products to those 2 categories, the category will no longer redirect to a product.

You like to ask lots of questions.. I hope that's you sorted now! :)

Hello Conor, just having a small problem with historic URI's... Hope you can help....

I have gone and imported 2000+ records into the table... 'ceon_uri_mappings'.... they all went in OK on the import..

But, they are not working... I will try to explain best I can... The old site uses ultimate SEO...

The old link for the particular product that i am testing is similar to..... http://www.thedomain.co.uk/xxxxxx-xx...xx-p-3333.html

so the entry into the 'ceon_uri_mappings' table has in the first field... '/xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxx-p-3333.html' ...... and '0' for the current_uri...

So... When I do the test... http://www.testdomain.com//xxxxxx-xx...xx-p-3333.html .... I get a 404 page not found...

So I tried a few changes.... I removed '.html' from the end of the data in the 'uri' field.... I tested the same again and got 404 error... But... I tried the hyperlink.... http://www.testdomain.com/xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxx-p-3333 - So that works and brings up the actual proper page that was determined in the new CEON ..... But thats not going to work, because the people who click on links to the old naming method are going to have .html at the end of every link..?

Please read the section of the FAQs/docs about modifying the rewrite rule to allow the rewriting of extensions like .html.

That should hopefully get you sorted.

Just found myself a new question.

I see inside the SQL table for ceon_uri_mappings... That a colum called 'redirection_type_code'... Was previous occupied with '301' and since version 4.0.0 that particular field is now 'NULL'...

Is that right..?
Does it matter which?
Should I change the whole field records to NULL now?

That field is only used for alternate URIs.. it's not used at all for normal mappings. All normal redirections use 301.

Ceon URI Mapping v4.0.1 has now been released.

It fixes a bug and has some small improvements.


Upgrading from 4.0.0 to 4.0.1 should take around 10 seconds so be sure to upgrade now!

(Follow the short upgrading instructions in the documentation).

It has now been adjusted to remove this slash, so that the admin URI can be accessed without having to end it with a slash (http://store.com/admin can be used to access the admin, instead of insisting upon http://store.com/admin/ or http://store.com/admin/index.php etc.).

[BUGFIX] Existing URI mappings for auto-managed product pages weren't being converted to historical URI mappings whenever a new URI mapping was entered/generated for a product.

[REMOVED] Sample modified core files, and template override files, for Zen Cart versions 1.3.0 to 1.3.7 removed from the distribution. Every store should really upgrade to Zen Cart 1.3.9h as previous versions are bug-ridden!

Alright, this is kind of a strange problem.

I have two sites - bestcatholicposters.com and bestscientists.com, both built with the latest version of Zencart 1.39h.

Since bestscientists is the least trafficked, I installed ceon 4.0.1 on it.
Worked like a charm.
LOVED it.

So, I went to bestcatholicposters.com and installed it there.
Everything exactly the same, as far as I can tell.

Whenever I cut-and-paste the code into the .htaccess, the site responds with 500 Internal Server Error.

It's probably the software making a conscious decision to "like" and work with what it thinks is a science site but to dislike and not work with a religious site.

They're the only two options really that I can think of.

I'm afraid anything else would require actual server/config debugging.

Just upgraded from an ancient version on my site www.babygiftbasketstores.com and under modules, Ceon URI Mapping (SEO) Config, I get the following statement:

Database table can not be created! The database user does not have CREATE TABLE privileges!

I don't see what to do on this forum or in the FAQ's so please advise :) Thanks! Amy

They're both being served off the same server (shared hosting - same external IP address) and the .htaccess is definitely in the root of public_html.
It's exactly like a lightbulb - I put the code in, it vomits, I take it out, it's fine and dandy.
Sigh....
I was trying to avoid building a new site from scratch in order to implement this.
Sigh again....

Alternatively, I could try putting bunsen burners and Erlenmeyer flasks on the posters...

Computers are predictable machines.. everything works like a lightswitch.. or a logic gate. :)

This is pretty much proof that you've either made a mistake in the file or that the configuration between the two domains is different.

Either your database user has not been set up correctly and cannot create any tables or the software is failing to detect the privileges properly.

Back from vacation and then a weeklong post vacation illness (not related to the vacation.. just one of those unlucky timing things.. :() I see you all have been busy and I am tardy to the party..:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Will be updating my test and dev stores this weekend with v4.0.1.. I had a similar issue as has been reported with stores which are installed in a sub-directory.. (my beta testing of this mod was done on a store which used a sub-domain, so the issue wasn't apparent..)

Anyway all that to say publicly that I was always a fan of this mod and Conor's wonderful 1st class support, but this new version is FANTASTIC!!! I can't say enough about it and the work that Conor put into it.. The install automation features are BRILLIANT and should minimize the NUMBER of questions asked repeatedly in the old support thread. (particularly the MANY .htaccess file questions!)

I even (finally) worked up a process to automate adding static URIs for other Zen Cart pages to my Ceon URI Mapping install. Until the Ceon releases it's commercial mod for automating this, this will make the install process a breeze for me!!!

Changes from version 4.0.1:

[UPDATED] When a product is having its URI mapping auto-generated, with an integer being auto-appended because the mapping clashes with an existing mapping, the auto-generation code now checks to see if the clash that is occurring is in fact simply with the product's own mapping. If so, no new URI mapping is generated.

[BUGFIX] When a URI was being made into a historical mapping and an identical historical mapping already existed, the code was wrongly deleting both the original, duplicate mapping and the new historical mapping, instead of only deleting the duplicate mapping.


This minor bug shouldn't have affected many people but it's best to upgrade, as it takes less than 10 seconds.

Hi Conor, first of all, thank you!
I just installed 4.0.2 on a heavy modified Zen. Since it's a bit old it has even no sense to speak about a version (it was a 1.3.7 badly and partially) upgraded to 1.3.8 and then with some upgrades extracted from 1.3.9 and applied.
At the moment many things seems to work perfectly (at first shot! this means you wrote your code very well). Of course I had to merge almost all the core files and it seems I didn't make mistakes, but I run in an error about ezpages (multilanguage).
I merged (file diff) the file in admin root both with the file under modified_core_files and with the file under third_party_module_integration.

When I try to update an ezpage (mysite/myadmin/ezpages.php?action=update) I get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method CeonURIMappingAdminEZPagePages::autogenEZPageURIMapping() in mysite/myadmin/includes/classes/class.CeonURIMappingAdminEZPagePages.php on line 134


With developers tool kit I searched for the method autogenEZPageURIMapping but in effect I didn't find it. I just got only one reference, in class.CeonURIMappingAdminEZPagePages.php, on line 134

So, is the method definition missing?

Not using multilanguage

I'm having a problem with the ezpages too. When I create a new ezpage and save it I get a blank page but the ezpage is still created and can be seen in the store front. Updating gives a blank page.

I have tried doing this in PHPMyAdmin with no success.

I have managed to get the /store/MusicGenre/Rock up in the mappings but it is not working on the site.
It looks like the associated_db_id is missing but I cant find one for Music Genre.

Anyway, I'm the nutcase who has two identical 1.39h Zencart installations on a shared server, each with it's own account and IP.
The same server serves both sites off different dedicated IPs, one for BestScientists.com and the other for BestCatholicPosters.com (it's a Midphase server).

BestScientists works, BestCatholicPosters doesn't.

Thinking I might have a corrupted file somewhere, I tried creating an absolutely fresh zencart installation on BCP, uploaded the information from the live BCP site and installed the SEO URI module.

When I did this, the test BCP site doesn't crash, it just silently fails to work.
I have the code in the correct .htaccess, the admin modules auto-generate the URI (I can see it in the database), but zencart never acknowledges that it exists.

So, I tried to get cute - I took the entire "includes" directory from the BestScientists Zencart and copied it on top of the BCP test zencart (minus configure.php, of course).

The test BCP still fails in exactly the same way - silently.
So, I figure the problem must be with the database.
I see three ceon tables, and I've looked at both structures - they both seem to be correct.

Are there any other tables I should look at?
It can't be server configuration, because it's the same server.
It can't be the includes directory, because that's identical too.
The .htaccess code is correct.

It's a puzzle, I tell ya'....

And I shouldn't even post this because now you'll be puzzled by it while you're on vacation.
Which is hardly fair.
But if I don't post it now, I may forget what I've done, so...

This is how it fails:

If I try to use the URI that is assigned, it kicks me back to the home page.
It keeps the assigned URI in the browser bar, but now I'm staring at the home page instead of the product page that's supposed to own that URI.
It does that no matter where I am in the site when I throw the auto-generated URI in the header - kicks back to home page, but keeps the URI in the browser bar.
If I hover over the product image or link on any page, I see the Zencurt URL in the lower left corner, not the CEO URI.
I can click and I'll go to the right product, but I never see the CEO link.

And, just for good measure, I also copied all the working admin files from BS to BCP, but it had zero effect (I didn't think that would make a difference, but it was worth trying).

I recently changed my directory on my website, and now the program is working in Admin. When I click through my site, when I go to the individual product page I get an 403 error. Does it have something to do with the / ? Just looking for some help before installing it over again. Cart 1.39h 4.02 ceon uri

I installed the Ceon URI Mapping add-on to my site (www.bbetoysplus.com) today and according to the installation check at the end of the process, it installed perfectly with no problems. I added the rewrite rule to .htaccess and after completing the configuration steps, I began to manually update each of my existing categories individually so that they would begin using the static URIs. However, even after manually updating each category, the dynamic URIs are still being displayed in place of the static URIs. I cannot figure out why this is happening and would truly appreciate any advice/guidance anyone can provide towards solving this problem.

I am using ZenCart version 1.3.9h. In additiong the Ceon URI Mapping add-on, I also have Easy Populate v 1.2.5.4 and Image Handler 2 installed.

Did you turn it on under configure menu in admin?

I recently updated from 3.8 to 4.02 on 1.39d. everything went well, but I had a question about the htaccess rewrite rule. I have made a custom page names "shop" but is one of the rules it the htaccess. I simply deleted that entry and everything seems to work fine, but was there a reason the shop rule was put in there?

I have installed 4.0.2 on a brand new 1.3.9h so no core file merging was required. You'll find a link to my website at the bottom of this post.

Everything went perfect with installation check etc. I have also added re-write rule to .htaccess. When I set up a category or item's static URI I get the following error immediately after I hit "preview"

I am trying to switch from my 12 year old bulky html website to 1.3.9h "showcase only" (cherry_zen). At the moment both index.html and index.php are on the server so that visitors can still view the old website. I am not done with the zen version.

I had been useing your add-on Uri Mapping with my zencart 1.3.8a for quite a while.

A few days ago my server was upgraded to 5.3. Since than i can not add products to my shopping cart if the Ceon module is started. When i shut down the module the cart works perfectly.

I had been looked for an upgrade but as i see you made - the module compatible with php 5.3 only for zencart 1.3.9.

Is there a work around my problem?

I also forgot to mention that when I attempt to use one of static URIs that I assigned by editting the item in the catalog via admin, the link simply just takes me to the home page of the store.

For example, if I use www.bbetoysplus.com/lego it take me to the home page.

I have no other suggestions, sorry, that is the same problem I had, but after looking at the .htaccess file and seeing the name of my admin file I felt I did not want to go any farther with this program to figure it out.

To be honest, this sounds so server specific I see no point in discussing it, especially given my limited time from now on. You don't use that field with genres.

Genres use typefilters, which use the query_string_parameters field:

uri: /store/MusicGenre/Rock

main_page: index

current_uri: 1

associated_db_id: null

query_string_parameters: typefilter=music_genre&music_genre_id=3

date_added: NOW() (selection in PHPMyAdmin).

Nope, not in any realistic practical sense, .htaccess files are only readable by the webserver, they are never publicly served (unless your server is really messed up which is very unlikely).

The initial problem you described, as well as this further problem, seem to indicate the software not being enabled on the store side. If the installation check says the files are modified appropriately then things should be working fine.

If they aren't then please send me FTP and admin details for the site and I'll take a quick look as this should NEVER happen with this new version of the software.

I'm using ZC 1.3.9 heavily modded and get 2 problems:

1) When i make the installation check vor CEON URI i get always this error message, even when i simply user your provided file and overwrite the existing one. It maybe a bug in the Module:

There are no known problems with the installation check code. So you must have made a mistake in this file.

Hundreds of people couldn't be wrong and only you have a problem with the "clean" file so I'm thinking you haven't actually copied the file across properly.

You can try again or wait to try again after installing the next version.

Two things about this.. first off, you're right! Oh dear, the Character/String replacements aren't being loaded in v4.x and therefore never used!

Fair enough. You can update the Transliteration code if necessary, but replacements are easier.

I'm disappointed that the Transliteration library doesn't transliterate as you desire.. I thought it was quite good in that way.. obviously not for you. :(

I installed Multilanguage EZ-Pages 1305v2.02 and use this file from you.

Your installation check in the file class.CeonURIMappingInstallationCheck looks for Step 1 in the EZ-Pages

Everything is transliterated to the URI-compatible equivalent, which is assigned the key of en. That's not the problem, this should covert from the charset of DE characters to the URI equivalents.

For example, in x01.php you'll see that some of the character codes are transliterated to 'AE', 'ae' etc.

I didn't write this library so I don't know which codes are used by which characters, but people in the past have "customise" the transliteration by modifying the x*.php files. In your case, changing the appropriate entry from Ä to 'Ae'.

I don't know why your particular charset is matching to 'a' but if you looked in depth at the transliteration code and files you could probably work out where you could change a value in a x*.php file from 'a' to 'ae'.

That would probably take a while and you need to replace & etc. anyway so it's easiest for you just to wait for working char-replacement functionality of 4.0.3.

You've almost certainly not copied all the files across properly.

Check your "cache" folder for any "debug" files generated by Zen Cart, which should point towards the file(s) you've missed.

Then copy all the files across again, making sure not to miss any/the one outlined in the debug file.

i experience some new strange things.

1) Every Article in the Centerbox "Customers who bought..." get a &cpath=& added to the URL.

If i understand the FAQ right, this should only happen with linked products. I get this in the Centerbox also with not linked products.

Is this ok?

2) The URI for the EZPages only works, when my EZ Page don't forward to another link, no matter if internal or external.

For Example i made an EZPage which is linked to index.php?main_page=shippinginfo

The EZPage is named Shipping_and_Returns.

On the Homepage of my shop the link still leads to the EZPage http://www.mydomain.com/index.php?ma...e=shippinginfo

If i click on this link, i still have http://www.mydomain.com/index.php?ma...e=shippinginfo in the addressfield of my browser.

When i manually type in http://www.mydomain.com/Shipping_and_Returns i get a empty page. The breadcrumb path is Home :: Shipping & Returns :: Shipping & Returns.

For EzPages without internal or external link everything works fine.

Maybe you have a solution for that.

EZ-Page links are a feature of Zen Cart which was designed because Zen Cart uses dynamic URIs.

Once you start using static URIs on your site, EZ-Page links make no sense.

You should remove all internal EZ-Page links from your store. You cannot use them anymore, once you are using static URIs on your site.

You can instead create mappings for the pages you want to map to.. as outlined in the documentation for "other" Zen Cart pages. (Using PHPMyAdmin).

This sounds like you are using an old version of the software?

Have you followed the instructions for Ceon URI Mapping v4.0.2 from the start, being careful to carry out every step?

And in the installation check page, have you used the example rewrite rule and put it in the file that it tells you to?

If you've done the above, then please try to install from the start once again and if you are still having trouble.. and only then.. please send FTP and admin details for the site via this link and I'll take a look when I get a chance.

People you have to understand when a module is free it is not going to work exactly the way you want it to work. If you want to donate toward a project keeping it moving forward then the author of that module is more willing to help you out if it make sense. If it has a bug he will fix it at his earlier convenience. Donations keeps things moving forward remember that, or other wise like it as it is a free module..

No, it wasn't too stupid, and if it was "stupid" I wouldn't just dismiss you!

I don't want the software to have any issues, at least without an explanation being present in the docs, and I haven't seen or heard of this issue with the also purchased box before.

I also haven't used the also purchased box in a long time so when I got your post the first thing I did was open includes/modules/also_purchased_products.php to look at its code. I couldn't see anything obvious and since it's not a major issue, plus I am not feeling the best, I posted the message I did.

I will check this out in more detail when I've time (I need to create some fake purchases and enable this functionality on a test site).

Well, in Ceon URI Mapping's case you can.. hundreds of hours have been invested in the latest version alone so as I say above, I want to have the satisifcation of knowing there are no known bugs and any issues, such as the cPath issue with linked products, are documented.

I've a strong feeling that this too is such an "issue" with Zen Cart, and as with linked products can be ignored because of Ceon URI Mapping's nifty canonical support.
